BS - I love the new piccie of Eva in you signature. :)
Suz - Thanks for the reassurance on the length of Liam's feeds, it's funny how you think everything's fine until someone mentions that their baby does something differently, then you start to wonder if you're doing it right. Liam seems very happy, and I've been trying to offer him more the last day or two and he just doesn't seem to want it, so I'll keep doing what works.
The Wii Fit would be so cool, I've been tempted, but I've bought things like that in the past and they just end up as dust collectors. Maybe Cupid will bring me one for Valentines Day. :)
Don't worry about Ryan's immunisations being late, there are plenty of people who choose not to immunise at all so two weeks is no biggie.
How sweet about Craig climbing in with Ryan, I'm sure they'll be best mates when they're older.
Alison - How scary! I guess when the time comes you'll have to decide how important a VBAC is to you. I'm guessing you'd have to be very unlucky to get the same type of rare infection twice, I don't really think you'd be risking your second bub by attempting VBAC, but you'd need to do some research. At the end of the day our healthy babies are what matter, so you'll do what feels right for you. Sorry, I'm sure you've explained but I'm way behind, why are you looking for a new pram? In any case I don't blame you for wanting a different one. That's how we got ours, some friends bought it and hated it so got another one. It's not bad really, and for free I'm willing to put up with it.
Tilda - So glad Matilda is feeding like Liam too, I don't feel like I'm doing wrong at all now! :)
Lani - Great to hear about Jett's feeding. Is Infacol like Infant's Friend? How often do you give it to Jett?
I hope the meeting with the minister goes well.
AFM - Just when I thought Liam's nights were getting good, I was up at 11, 1 and 4 last night, for about 45 mins each time. ARGH! And when we tried to sleep in a single bloody fly found it's way into the bedroom and kept landing on us both. GAH! Oh well, at least I don't have to go anywhere today, I can just laze about the house doing what I want. I'm going to do a power yoga practice now while Liam's asleep, 1kg to go and back to pre-pregnancy weight!
-
Hi Suz - the sister of a friend of mine fell pregnant 3 times while using breastfeeding as contraception! And they now have 4 kids :o Not sure of all the details (ie if she was doing night feeds etc) so maybe she wasn't doing it correctly.
Hi Lani - Jett sounds like a dream. Infacol must have been a life changer for you! Hope it keeps up. Sleep is a beautiful thing!
afM - well Matilda went down again after a feed and has been asleep 2 and a half hours. Now I'm worried she's sleeping too long!! How long does everyone else let them sleep during the day. I never let her go more than 4 hours between feeds but do you think day time sleeps can be too long even if they fit into the 4 hours between feeds? I'm wondering if she'll sleep badly this afternoon (but she seems to no matter how long she sleeps during the morning).
-
Hi Tilda - he didn't really say, I asked if I would've been carrying it before and he said no it happens after your waters break, well he broke my waters in hospital so I can only guess I picked it up in hospital. He did say I was extremely unlucky as this type of staph infection is very very rare, trust me! I'm just grateful that he acted so quickly, he not only saved Amelia's life but possibly mine as well. He said it's a very fast acting infection so they are amazed they got it before it even infected Amelia let alone killed her!
Hi Suz - my sister fell pregnant when her son was 4 months old and she was exclusively BF'ing!!!! I only bled lightly for yesterday so not sure if it was my period after all, nothing today or last night, weird! Unless it's because the OB was poking my tummy on Monday, maybe that released something that was still left over, ha ha.
Hi Sesame - my pram is fine in general, it's just hurting my hands, I have bad shoulders and a bad wrist - this one you have to hold this button, click that lever, press that pedal etc to collapse it and it's caning my hands!
Woop, Amelia's awake, gotta run......she upstairs in her cot, only lasted 40 minutes but better than nothing! 6.5 hours last night, this time she woke up because her foot was stuck in the slats - she didn't have her grobag on last night but a similar type sleeping back thing that's open at the end. I'm off to buy a breathable cot barrier today to stop all this happening and see if we can go back to 8 hours!
-
Alison - Yikes, pregnant with a 4 month old! I can't even begin to imagine how it would be with just over 1 year old and a newborn. Scary. We'll definitely be using condoms, I'm not brave enough to trust BFing for contraception.
I saw the piccies of Amelia swimming and in her cot, she's growing into a real little cutie pie. You look fantastic too. ;)
Tilda - Maybe I'm too free spirited but I let Liam sleep whenever and for how long he likes. I figure he'll settle in to his own patterns when it suits him. He's a great sleeper though, so I guess it would be different if we were struggling. Glad to here BS's burping technique works for you, it's great isn't it?
AFM - Well I got most of the way through my power yoga, geez, I've really got some work to do. Reckon I'll be sore tomorrow! I managed to get Liam to feed for 30 mins this afternoon, but he's already starting to look hungry again and it's only been 2 hours. Maybe he's just a snacker like his mum.
-
Tilda, that is a great idea since Eva likes to be walked around! So I guess the bouncing is similar..DH just said last night that we ought to go buy a ball for that exact same reason so now since you're saying it works, we'll def get one ! She won't let us sit down otherwise! :) - as for the sleeps, don't stress - the exact same thing happenned to me when I started burping her correctly and now she goes down twice a day for 2-4 hours each time - let her sleep, she is probably catching up on all the sleep she has lost to gas in the past. It is good because she will wake up very hungry and eat a lot more, giving you more time between feeds...Once Eva started sleeping longer she started eating more when waking up then spacing out her feeds more - this might just be the turning point for you! I was worried too the first two days and though she would not sleep at all at night, but she slept with no problem. It is amazing how much the pain and gas bothers their sleep! Poor little things. WHen I think of how much she suffered before I figured all this out...
Suz, I"m on the mini pill...I don't see any wierd stuff happenning though I am breaking out but that could also just be from the hormones after pregnancy - seems my glowing skin and thick hair are going back to normal. I did have two days of bleeding randomly at the beginning though (and a period one week after I stopped bleeding from the birth, so it did give me one random non period bleed...but since then, nothing...I can't do condoms. I just can't. Plus we do it when we can get it and there is no time for fetching condoms and always DTD in the same place  I just don't trust Bf as enough of contraception and could not handle being preg again just yet. I want to get back to some type of routine before getting all into it again and lose some weight. But if you don't mind getting preg soon, then don't worry about it.
9 hours wow! Last night Eva fed at 10 and slept until 2AM then until 6 am and I am happy for that! I dream of 9 hour breaks :) Post that pic, that sounds so cue the two of them in bed together :)
Lani yay on the rest! Even just having Eva in her room is already helping me since I don't wake for every noise (only when she actually is loud enough to trigger the babyphone to work)...So I can imagine you muist feel great!
Sesame, your mother's insticts are all that matter - we are here to discuss our babies and all but you and Liam know what works best for him so do whatever you do as long as he's happy :) - I figured that out pretty early on because advice, everyone has, but when you're with your baby 24/7 you know what works or doesn't! 1KG, wow! you go girl!
And I am just like you - I let Eva do what she feels. I trust her to get into a rythm eventually but let her do what she feels. It is not free spirited, just a certain way of doing things. Some people do on demand and some do routine...Routine would not work with Eva, so I do what feels right for her. There is no wrong way and I am sure you're doing exactly what Liam needs. Eva is difficult so I let her decide for exactly that reason - I cannot bear to wake her when she is finally ASLEEP!!! and as she is so unsettled (or shoudl I say WAS) with gas and stuff, I didn't have the heart to wake her when she was finally resting.
Speaking of that, Tilda, she is down for another one of those naps - going on 2.5 hours...Maybe Matilda is heading towards the nice period now :) I would wait it out and see how today and tomorrow goes. Waking her is probably not necessary, but of course, do as you feel, but don't stress - the same thing happened to me and I was worried! We are so used to them being difficult that we stress when they are doing well!
AFM - FIL lent us his gorgeous camera and I have been snap happy with Eva for three days now - I posted tons of new pics and they are gorgeous! I am so happy tohave such nice pictures and will keep going nuts and photographing her since this new camera is really good and takes gorgeous high quality photos!
I have a nice one of me breastfeeding, but I don't want to post it on FB...but I am happy to finally have one where I am actually showered and looking decent!
Eva is having another calm day as has been the case for the last week although last night she did have some gas, but nothing super painful - just farting a lot!!! I hope it passes.
She slept in her room beautifully again...Went down at 10, woke up at 2AM and 6AM...so I got some decent sleep, then brought her over to my bed at 9 for a feed and dozed off a bit more until 11 together - I feel good - Luckily, I got some rest since I train today - My body will hurt tomorrow! Since cutting the dairy and eating soups and salads every day I feel like my body looks much better, although the scale has not budged...I guess the puff is going down, and then the rest will follow eventually...
Big kisses!
xoxo

Hi girls,
BS - your pics are gorgeous! It must be a fancy camera! Little Eva is really growing up, she's just a darling. Jack farts like a trooper, too. Sometimes he lifts both legs and lets one rip that is loud enough to sound like an adults! Makes me laugh every time. :p
sesemeseed - go the power yoga! You'll be back to your old stretchy self in no time. And perhaps Liam is just going through a growth spurt? Jack was "snacking" like that for about four days and then it went back to normal.
Alison - did you get the cot barrier? I have one of those, you've prompted me to put it on! And I love your FB pic of you, DH and Amelia in the pool. Such a nice family pic.
Tilda - As soon as I see Jack making tired signs I wrap him up and put him down for a sleep. He sleeps a lot during the day and I find that if he does we don't get him crying and carrying on during "arsenic hour". If he has been overstimulated, however, we have a cranky baby. It varys but I find he sleeps on average 2.5 hours at a time? Sometimes more but that's about normal for him.
Lani - how do you get such long feeds during the night? Are you still BFing? I'm that jealous! And, at what age are you planning the christening? We are going to have to do the same.
ATM - Feeling good today because Master Jack and I slept in til 10am! Was lovely seeing that we had a bad night - a prank caller kept ringing me and whispering weird creepy stuff. "What are you wearing" and "Guess what I'm doing right now" kind of thing. Ewww. I got DH to answer and the guy was silent for a bit then was whispering all this queer stuff. I was actually scared in the end and didn't sleep for two hours. What a nutter! I rang mum this morning to tell her and she said that when he asked what I was wearing I should have been honest with him - an oversized rugby tee with milk stains all down the front. Sexy! ;)
It's raining in Sydney today and I'm tossing up whether I should drive up to mum's tomorrow. I was planning to leave really early but if it's super wet (as they are predicting) I don't think it would be safe. DH has to stay here and work.
Anyway, how is everyone today? Is anyone else planning their christening soon? Or are you not bothering? A naming day, perhaps?
xx
-
Carmey - Oh my gosh that is so creepy about your prank caller! I would have been terrified!
I like you're Mum's idea though. :)
We're not really planning anything christening/naming day wise. They have a day here later in the year at the local park called "Welcoming the Babies". They have sausage sizzles and clowns etc, it seems pretty nice. Each of the babies gets a certificate welcoming them to the community, and a small tree to plant in the park. It seems really nice, so we'll probably tell family and friends to come to that.
AFM - I am absolutely buggered. We had our exercise class at the hospital today, and the nearest park I could find was a 15 min walk away, so I got an extra half hour in pushing the pram that I wasn't expecting. Then we headed of to Aldi with Mum to do the groceries, and Liam filled his pants pretty much the moment we walked in the door and was grizzly for the rest of the shopping trip. Fun. Anyways, we're home now, I've been collapsed on the couch for the last hour recovering.
DH has gone off for a job interview this afternoon. I really hope he gets it. He's a carpenter and the only work he's been able to find since the good ole' GFC is maintenance work, which he hates. He wants to get back into building and renovations. Oh, he just called sounding very happy....fingers crossed! :crossfingers:
-
Carmey, it is a very nice camera, but it weighs a freaking ton! So I probably won't be venturing out of the house with since the stroller is enough weight to carry! - but it does take great pics so I am happy for that since I was not happy with the simple pics I was taking before. There is just something cleaner about these. Here's hoping I don't break it lololol! Your latest pictures look like they are taken with a very nice camera as well. I especially love the ones where he is swaddled :)
So creepy about that caller...does his number come up as blocked? Maybe you can have your phone provider block blocked numbers? I am sure it is just some idiot that will eventually stop. Have DH pick up any wierd calls from now on...that shoudl stop him eventually.
Sesame...some days are just harder than others. Speaking of that, I have another physio appt today and am leaving Eva home with MIL...Last time she managed to keep me out of the hour lesson for 45 mintues...and I had to pay for the full hour so am not risking it again. We just have to keep getting out and doing stuff and eventually it will be easier...At this point though it feels like Russian Roulette doesn't it? Keeping my fingers crossed for DH!!!
Another night of heaven...Eva stayed with MIL while I went to work out (man, I was tired and sweaty last night! But I was very happy to see that I could run/speed walk for one hour without getting crampy or out out of breath! so I think I'll get there!)...I got in around 6:30pm, fed her then she went down for a nap at 7 - I prepared her bath and everything and she just did not wake up! DH and I waited a bit then we watched a movie and she did not get up until 11:30 PM for a feed! Her nappy leaked though since I did not change her assuming she would be up in half an hour for a bath...My first nappy leak ever...Then she went right back down to sleep until 3:30 the up at 6:30...the 8 and is now back down asleep since 8:30...
Does anyone else have their baby feeding more in the morning. Eva spaces out her night feeds and even her late afternoon feeds, but in the morning she seems to be at it every hour and a half or two hours...anyone else getting this???
Today I have the physio and hop eto do an hour on the eliptical...I feel better now that I am getting more sleep!
xoxo

Hi Girls!
Carmey - OMG! I hope that guy stopped calling. Did you have to take any action? I like your Mum's suggestion too. I presume he blocked his number, no one would be stupid enough to prank call from their own number would they? Even if the number's coming up as private I'm sure the telco can trace it. We aren't religious so we didn't baptise Craig, we just had a big party for his 1st birthday. DH is keen to do some kind of naming day for Ryan, even if it's just a BBQ at our house. I love Sesame's 'local community naming day 'Welcoming the Babies'. I wish we had something like that here.
Sesame - Well done with your exercise today! You rest up, you've earned it. And good luck to your DH with the job.
BS - Perhaps you could take Eva, the stroller and the camera out and that could be your weight training for the day! Even the 30 mins a day of Wii Fit I'm getting is making me feel like I'm sleeping better and have more energy. I'm not game to do an hour yet or even venture out of the house to exercise, but you go girl! Just don't overdo it OK? Ryan feeds more often (I call them cluster feeds) in the late afternoon and early evening, rather than in the morning like Eva. I guess he's gearing up for bedtime. Looks like it's the mini-pill for me to, I can't do condoms either.
Tilda - I'm like BS and don't worry about how long the day sleeps are. Ryan sleeps well at night so I see no need to wake him during the day.
AFM - The 9 hours was a one off. We were back to the usual 6 hours and 3.30am wake up last night. Got my Wii Fit in today. My Mum, Brother and his Fiance all visited, which was lovely. Mum stayed for dinner and was a great help with the boys. Then after dinner DH took Craig out to visit some friends, so I've had some quiet time with just Ryan. Tomorrow is immunisation day for Ryan.
Thanks to everyone who posted about a friend who fell pregnant while BFing. I know I didn't last time, but I don't want to fall pregnant (eeeeeew! Ryan just did the biggest spew on me, right between the boobs!) until Ryan is at least 12 months old, so it looks like the mini-pill for me.
Better go and clean myself up!
-
BS - There's just no predicting what Liam will do with his feeds. Yesterday it felt like he barley fed at all, each time I offered him the breast he just started whinging and crying, and would only settl (oops, there he is now.....) where was I. Yep, I'd put home down in his vibrating chair with a dummy and all was well. Plenty of pooey nappies though, so I'm not worried.
Alison - I meant to ask if your OB said anything about your line, I still have mine too. I'm hoping it goes away, it looks like I have a snail trail from a distance!
Suz - We're having immunisations today too. I hope Ryan's not to shocked by it all! Liam spewed down between my boobs yesterday while I was out having lunch with Mum, it's a delightful sensation isn't it. :)
AFM - Immunisation day today. :( I hope Liam doesn't feel too unwell afterwards, but I'm hoping the reports of a monster sleep are true, I really am ready for a whole night off! I don't know if my boobs would handle it though, even with a 3:30am feed when I wake up in the morning they're leaking all over the place.
I'm waiting by the phone to hear from DH, he came home so excited, the job is exactly what he wants, they have heaps of work and the opportunity is there for him to move into a supervising/management role which is what he's looking for. The money's better than his current job too, and we'd be able to get rid of the stupid work car he has that he's only allowed to drive to and from work. He has his own ute, so we really don't need three cars. He'll find out one way or the other today. Please please please Universe!
-
Hi Sesame - oooh good luck for DH, I'll cross everything I possibly can (without doing a hammy etc) for him:D The OB was so funny about the line down my tummy, he got all excited and said how he loves seeing that line still there hee hee - he said it can take up to 6 months to fade, depends on the person really. Mine's still quite prominent, it's not all the way now and has almost gone on the top of my tummy but from halfway down it's still quite dark.
Hi Suz - I wish I could take the mini pill as I too hate condoms but with me missing the odd BF here and there I can't afford to risk it and I can't take the full pill as I'm still BF'ing! :wall:
AFM - Amelia slept 9 hours last night, wa hoo! I'm sure it won't last but after the last few being 6.5 hours it's as nice change. We did have a big day yesterday though and she was grumpy as last night, she was not herself at all and was very whingey and took a little while to fall asleep but she ended up going down eventually but missed her last feed. I was expecting her to wake up at 3.00 am hungry but nope! I am having problems BF'ing though, the first morning feed is great but for the rest of the day she's pulling off my boob........I don't know if it's because I have no milk or because she's gotten too used to the bottle, she's not even interested if I put the shields on....or could be a combo of both, I don't know what to do it's really stressing me out!!! I don't want to give up BF'ing altogether. One of the girls in mothers group is having the same problem as me so she can only feed her baby her milk if she expresses it into a bottle - she also does formula feeds. I feel so annoyed you know, I don't formula feed because I want to but I just have to as I've not got enough milk. I'm wondering if it's time to go on the drugs to get the milk back? I can see my boobs getting smaller by the day and I'm not ready to give up bigger boobs yet as I'm small chested so have enjoyed having a C cup for a change! lol
-
Alison - Don't pull a hammy! It'd would be so hard to look after Amelia! Why don't you try ringing the ABA about your supply, they might have some helpful suggestions. They're number is 1800 mum2mum, I called them a while back when I was having some problems with Liam attaching and they were fantastic, plus you don't need to be a member to call. I'm sure you'll be able to work it out with a little perserverance. If it's any consolation, I'd kill to have your small boobs. My DD's don't fit into a lot of my
old clothes, anything low cut is completely out of the question!
AFM - I finally got around to pulling out the ring sling I bought on eBay. I'd tried putting Liam in it a couple of times but I couldn't work out how to get him in properly. One of the Mums at the hospy exercise class had one, and it inspired me to try again. I did some you tubing to find a video, and viola! I have a sleeping baby in a comfy ring sling. Loving it. Only thing is we have to go for our immunisations in an hour, and he hasn't had a feed since 7am, so I think I might have to wake him. My doctor is notoriously late, and I don't want to be sitting in a waiting room with a screaming baby.
-
Hi girls!
Argh - I haven't been getting notifications, so I'm way, way behind.
Alison - That's scary about the infection. Was it a MRSA infection?
Liam had his vaccinations this week. Poor little guy was grumpy when we went to the doc since we had to wake him up from a nap. Our GP is wonderful and he was all happy and gooing - and then he got his jabs. I don't think I've ever heard him cry like that :( He was really unsettled for the rest of the day, crying loudly on and off in between short naps. He also wouldn't feed much. But when we finally got him down for the night, he zonked out and only woke up once overnight. Thankfully the next day he was back to normal and happy and smiling.
He's actually been really good lately - he still feeds frequently during the day (anywhere from 1-2 hours in between feeds usually, and he only feeds for 5-10 minutes each time - one of the benefits of oversupply and overactive letdown!), but he's been only waking a couple of times overnight to feed and settling down quickly each time.
Yesterday he decided to break with this pattern - he spent the day sleeping for an hour, waking to feed (and feed for a long time for him) and then sleeping again. He did have one long period where he was awake and playing, though. Then he woke every 1-2 hours overnight to feed. I'm guessing it's a growth spurt. He's been feeding frequently this morning, too, but has finally just gone down for a nap. I don't have a problem with his frequent feeds, though - I'm happy to let him decide what he needs and when he needs it.
I finally got around to buying myself a proper breastfeeding pillow (My Brest Friend) - I am amazed at how much more comfortable it makes feeding. I have back issues, and using normal pillows always gave me pain. This is perfectly comfy - and I can actually feed hands free, which is novel. Damn, I wish I'd bought one ages ago.
Had an awesome mail day, too - got some more cloth nappies (yay for sales!) including a Bambooty to try, and some baby carriers - two mei tais, a ring sling and a peanut shell. I think DH is going to revoke my credit card soon ;) I've tried Liam in one of the met tais (a Catbird Baby) and he was happy as anything in it. He loves being cuddled upright, and it's super comfy to wear for me, even wit my dodgy back.
Now I've written an essay ;) I hope you're all doing well - I'll try to actually post here more often.
-
Hi Girls,
Rose - The feeding pillows are awesome. Ryan is having a day like Liam's after being immunised today. Hope the rest of your week gets better. Is the Mei Tai like a Hug A Bub but cheaper?
Sesame - Gotta love You Tube for learning how to do things! The ring sling sounds like it was exactly what Liam needed today. How's he doing? Saw your FB status, congrats to DH :)
Alison - Are you worried that the mini-pill will further reduce your supply? Sesame's suggestion to ring the ABA is a good one. There might be something else you can try before going the prescription drugs. I noticed that Ryan gets a log more milk without the nipple shields than he did with them. He gained a lot more weight and spaced his feeds out further. Yay for Amelia's big sleep! Hope she keeps it up.
AFM - Immunisations were worse this time because I knew what to expect! Poor Ryan, it was the first time I've seen him really cry and the first time with tears. But I popped him straight on for a BF and he was fine. However, he's been really windy and crying a lot this afternoon. I've held off on giving him baby panadol so far and hope he sleeps OK tonight. On a positive note, DH and I DTD! Still haven't sorted out the longer term contraception.
Ryan's crying again, time to go.
-
Hey girls!
Sesame, so excited for DH! As for the major sleep, Eva def had one. After her vaccines she was a bit weakish so was grumpy when we handled her too much and then went down for a massive sleep with only one waking in the night (this was before she started sleeping better and she would wake up 3-4 times a night...). I am sure Liam will be just fine :)
Rose, wow, you got a ton of slings! Will you use them all? I have one but I find it sort of hard to use since it has way too mucgh fabric (Babylonia Tri cotti) and my eva like to look around and not be all swaddled...can you recommend a good sling that is less stifling from your arsenal??? ;)
Suz, I understand you decision on the mini pill - I slao do not want to get pregnant until Eva is at least a year, so I prefer that...Then afterwards, whatever happens happens.
Not much news here, Eva still sleeping well in her room. My good friend who had the baby around the same time came over yesterday so I took some pictures of her baby for her and I posted two of Eva and her daughter. They are leaving to her parents' house for a month and a half and we were saying how the girls will be so DIFFERENT in 6 weeks!
I am off to exercise a bit (my body is so sore from the physio yesterday - it was more iintense than training with a trainer!). So a bit of slow eliptical for me today then I would love to get some stuff done around the house (fingers crossed for that). And I am so happy it is friday! That means I get DH around for the weekend. I miss seeing him all day - we used to work with our desks next to each other in the office and now I only see him in the morning, for lunch and in the evening. I love weekends since we get to hang out and he helps me a lot with the baby :)
enjoy your weekends girls and bubs!
xoxo

Hi Rose - I'm tempted to try the my breast friend pillow. I've found the tetra one pretty good but I think its a bit high. But Matilda does love to crash out on it after a feed. Sounds like Liam reacted to the vaccinations in a similar way to Matilda - very unsettled!! Thank god they're only ever now and then!!
Hi Alison - Sesame's suggestion about calling the ABA is a really good idea. Supply issues can usually be worked out from what I've heard. I looked into breast refusal a bit when Matilda was going through a rough patch and pulling off all the time. As usual there seemed to be a myriad of reasons that can cause it and often difficult to pin point, but it more than often passes. Its very frustrating and tiring when they're on and off.
Hi Sesame - good luck with the immunisations. Different babies react so differently from what I'm gathering from everyone else's comments. And yay for the sling. I've got my fingers crossed that your DH's job works out!
Hi BS - I can definitely recommend the fit ball to bounce on. It saves you walking the halls! I put mine infront of a table with the thousands of soft toys Matilda's been given and she loves to look at them while I bounce with her over my shoulder. You really must be missing DH. I've had DH home with me for 4 months and its been really, really nice and I'm dreading him starting work again.
Hi Suz - poor little Ryan. Isn't it awful seeing them that upset. Its like someone sticks a knife into you and then twists it for good measure. Woohoo on DTD.
Hi Carmey - creepy, creepy, creepy about the prank caller. Did you go up and see you're mum? Hope it wasn't too wet. We haven't planned the christening/name day yet. We should have done something on our trip to Perth in a couple of weeks but we just haven't been able to get our act together. Maybe on the next trip in May.
Perth girls - I'm going to be in Perth from 18th Feb to 2 March so if anyone is up for a Perth BB catch up let me know. I can't wait. DH has a martial arts thingy and a good friend of mine is getting married so it times in really well. I don't know how I'll go with the heat after a couple of years in Hobart!!
Hi everyone else! Hope you're all keeping well.
AFM - It's been a busy few days. MatiIlda has really started to settle down again (with a big thanks going to BS for her burping tip!). It has been blissful to have a happier baby. And she's engaging so much more. We have quite the conversations these days. I'm also starting to think that babies are designed for a nomadic life. We did another day trip today out to MT Field National Park and she slept and slept in the car, woke up for the forest walk, fed well and back to sleep in the car. But is anyone's bub grunting during the night? In the early hours of the morning Matilda has been grunting and farting and tossing and turning and its impossible to sleep through!! I've been trying to burp her better before bed time but my mum tells me I was the same . If it keeps up I think she'll have to go into her own room! Oh and it looks like there might be a couple of job opportunities for DH in Sydney. He's going up this week to check it all out. And I've got Matilda's god mother flying over from Albany to keep us company. Can't wait to see her!!!

Tilda - A Perth meetup while you're here sounds awesome :) Liam has periods at night (usually towards the morning) when he's really noisy while he's sleeping. DH can sleep through it no problem, but it wakes me up. We have friends who couldn't sleep with their bub in the room with them because of that reason and had him in his own room pretty much from day one. You have to do what works for you and lets you get sleep, ultimately.
BS - I'll definitely be using all of the slings. I love wearing Liam so much :) You might like to try a mei tai or a similar structured carrier - if Eva has good head control you don't need one with a head rest and she can look around. If you look at something like the Catbird Baby mei tais and pikkolo, you can also use them in a forward facing front carry, so she can see everything. If you go and look at thebabywearer, you can read through bunches of reviews and find something that you like. I warn you, it can get damn addictive though!
suz - The mei tai is based on Asian baby carriers - it basically holds the baby onto you kind of like a backpack, and you can carry on your front or back.
AFM - Liam is napping (as much as he does in the late afternoon/early evening - he tends to be restless and fight sleep a lot at this time of the day) after spending another day pretty much just feeding and sleeping. I'm definitely thinking that it's a growth spurt.

Tilda, I am def going out to get a medicine ball tomorrow! As for grunting, eva does that too either when she's hungry or when she has gas...that is one of the reasons I am so happy she is in her room - I used to wake up for every noise too...she is just struggling to get the gas out....we seriously have the same baby!
Rose, Thanks for the tip - I am going to check online to compare. I alsready have a baby bjorn that she loves, but I want a sling for when I want to carry her in a laying position - The bjorn is too upright to leave her in for too long when she falls asleep...
Eva has been really crabby since last night - She cried for a bit before her bath with gas then slept really well but then this morning crying again. She would not let me put her down for hours and now is trying to nap and keeps waking herself up with pain - she falls asleep then just starts crying in pain :( - I just don't know what else I can cut out of my diet...or maybe i just need to accept that this is now things are for babies sometimes and deal with it? I hope it passes so I can rest this weekend...
xoxo
