Holly, having been through the QE2 route, my advice to you is go, see what they ahve on offer, but remember you are mum and you know what is best for bubs. i ended up leaving early because it wasn't going to work, but the upside was that DH was more confident in settling.
Shell - good luck with the sewing.
OP - thanks for the info on the music.. I'll look them up.
Kaz - sorry to hear you had such a bad night.
AFU - took alex to our informal mums group meeting today in a park - he spent most of his time stuffing leaves down a storm water drain instead of playing with the other kids - LOL
-
Another working week ends for me.
I had written something a couple of days ago, but my whole post seems to be missing. Now I have forgotten all that I said.
Hmmmm... Let me think.
Oh - I did say nai - you could use a sposie and put a PUL cover over the sposie. Maybe even if oyu have some pocket nappies, just wup it over the sposie without being stuffed???
Holly - I suppose you have to answer in your own mind if you think it is a problem, or if it is just that it is a "problem" for everyone else, therefore you start to think it is.
In regard to E being exposed to other kids her age - we go to playgroup. she is by far the youngest, but she interacts with the other kids. she has a cousin a couple of months younger that she sees all the time. and she has family day care. (again older kids but she loves it.) oh and swimming lessons with kids her age. she mainly wants to be doing what J is doing though. Oh and i nearly forgot. They go to a huge indoor gym and have play time every Friday. HEAPS of kids of all ages.
Shell - good luck with the sewing. I wish I could sew.
OP - Sounds like you have had a good talk about what you both want to do as a couple in regard to BF. Realistically it will not bel ong till you are on mat leave anyway, so won't be getting ready for work (although you will have your hands full in another way!!)
To everyone else "hello" I am just way too tired to keep up at the moment. DH is away again all weekend, so just me again for te next few days, wit kids that want no end of attention. in fact DH and I haven't seen each other pretty much since last Wednesday. I worked Wed Thurs Fri last week, then he did s course for work for 4 days that was too far to drive so he had to stay, then had something else on this Wed, so kids were in bed when he got home, then I worked Thurs Fri day, and he worked Thurs night and tonight. Tomorrow morning he is not coming home and going straight to a mates for a weekend away, so I won't see him till late sun night. Then I have to work Mon, Tues Wed next week. Lucky we don
t wnat any more kids, as we never see each other.
-
lilima - you sound tired. for going solo on the weekend... hope everything works out well for you.
Shell- thanks for the info on the mainly music... I've found a local group and will go and see if we fit in on the 23rd april 9when they start back again.
I'm so tired... all self induced.. trying to get my book finished so I can send it off to agents... to get time to myself (Alex still won't nap in his cot during the day) I stay up til 2am. I last about 4 nights then I have to go to bed early 1am (lol). DH is looking after Alex at the moment so I can write or sleep (which is sounding mighty tempting at the moment).
Take care girls... :grouphug:
-
Good idea lilima! I will try that if I run out of inserts. We are using pockets with 2 inserts and a booster which seems to work well. I hope the kids behave for you while DH is away!
Miss J is such a handful at the moment. She is throwing tantrums left right & centre and screams at everything. She hits and pinches when she doesn't get her way. She is turning into a little bully!
-
Morning ladies,
Another Monday! At least we have Easter this weekend to break things up a bit... Sigh!
Nai - I know what you mean! Miss I is becoming a bit of a tanty chucker as well - does not like it when we tell her "no!" Hope it passes for you soon!
Malyna - yay for the mainly music class! I hope you enjoy it - Miss I is only just getting to the age now where she wants to (mostly) sit and actually listen and join in the with music, prior to about 12mths she just wanted to play. Hope Mr A loves it! And you too. Let me know how you go - I think the one I am involved in is run a bit differently to most.
I hear you on the self-induced tiredness, although mine is not from anything as exciting as writing a book! Good luck with getting it all finished!!
Lilima - I agree, you do sound really tired. Hope you aren't streching yourself too thin with everything on your plate!
Shell - my plan is to continue to BF Isabel until she decides to stop. My milk must have changed some during the pg and she hasn't really stopped or shown any inclination to stop... so if she's happy when I switch to colostrum and wants to keep going then hey I'll keep her going. I'm planning on getting some books from the ABA to prepare myself but it sounds completely do-able.
AFU: a pretty big weekend here with footy (sniff sniff my poor Bombers...), a wedding and a Grand Prix housewarming! So tired this morning - I really need to get to bed earlier! Isabel has been so good with her sleeping lately and I should have been taking advantage... silly me!
Hanging out for Easter and some good time at home to get some stuff happening in what will be Isabel's new room... can't handle living amongst the mess as we are at the moment!
Hope everyone else is going well!
-
arrhh so much to catch up on and i can be bothered typing
OP wow you did have a busy weekend!! great to hear DD slept very well last night!! how are you going for names for bubba blue???
nai M is the same with the tanties :o throws things etc.. just wants her own way, im learning how best to deal with them, she tanties alot at no booby!
malyna let us know how the call goes wiht the sleep people  do whats best for you guys not what everyone thinks is best
lilima how didyou cope over the weekend by yourself?? how does DH get so many weekends to himself?? :hide: seems unfair to me
AFM M has been sleeping better, have had 3 nights of 10hr straight sleep, feeds at say 4.30-5am then back to bed for a few hours, saturday night wasbad, she was awake from 2-4am and S was awake from 3-4am, was tired yesterday! M had a 2.5hr sleep yesterday so hoping she repeats that today! last night she slept from 6.45pm to 5.45am! she also refused the bottle of EBM id left for DH to give as i was at work, 300ml wasted all up this weekend, looks like the end of EBM for her!
DH and i went out for our anniversary on saturday, went shopping (for the girls  ), then vietnamese for lunch then into crown for some drinks and a bit of a gamble !! was nice as we havent spent much time by our selves for awhile!
BBL after ive read back a page....
@#$# M just woke after 30 mins :o why does she do 2.5hrs on the weekend but 30 mins today...grrrrrrrr trying to resettle but im not liking my chances
-
I don't mind when bubs gets into a sleep routine, but it's when they do the 10hrs one night then less the next night that throws me. Olive - big
OP - Woot on the BF - I'm the same with Alex - I'll BF until he decides. Wow u r busy!! I don't think I could do 1/10th of what you do.. I need a nap after just reading about it.
Gotta go - Alex hasn't napped today, and he's crabby (well he's a man so they get really crabby)... finished the book - don't want to think about any more plots or subplots or situations, although i've started writing the sequel, which will keep me up at night as well. I was up at 2am this morning reading the first page, thinking about bl00dy time :-D now I have to write to the agents (which is scary)
Take care girls
-
OP- Thats great, you've got plan in place and at least that way she can wean when she is ready too. ABA should be able give you great advice on it. Df is bombers fan also, bit dissapointing they totally lost it in the last, my saints got up tho.
Malyna- you must be very passionate about your writning to keep yourself up so late at night. I hope to read it one day.
Olive- sounds like a nice anniversary date, did you win at crown? Pre kids I loved a flutter there but now rarely get to go.
Nai- I starting to think besides the real newborn stage this is the hardest age. They want to do everything and anything but just can't! They don't seem to realise limitations.
Meg- I feel for you, as u know Df has his night off every sat, I always wonder when is my time off. Like the weekend I worked sat morning, got home at 4 and he says ok see-ya and off he goes don't see him til 1pm the next arvo where he goes upstairs to catch up on sleep. We hardly see each other either. I'm going away tomor night kid free while he is on holidays I will make up some time for me.
This age is so tiring, seriously can't turn my back for second, Em climbs on everything now and gets stuck, we went to MIL's for dinner last night haven't been there for months, she usually comes here. And omg all I did was flollow Em everywhere, non baby proof houses are terrible at this age, I couldn't enjoy myself cause I'd sit down for a min and have to chase her again and she'd crack it.
-
bugger Malyna i was thinking it was you with the sleep school but it was holly  sorry hun!
woohooo about the book! and awesome that you;ve started the sequel!
i agree with the differing amounts of sleep
shell i agree with you, you do have it tough with DF coming and going as he pleases! thats rough that hes off for that lond :o id throttle him, oh and make lots of noise the next day!
oohhhhh maybe next time strip all the beds so he cant sleep in them!!
i won $20 but DH lost $100
ARM M has a runny nose, will be a long one tonight i think and the no night feeds might be over tonight :(
-
Shell - my writing is the only thing that is keeping me going at the moment - if I didn't have that I'd just want to curl up in a ball :-D
-
Hi all,
Once again being a bad buddy!!! I do read just usually when I don't have timt to type back...so much to catch up on each time..
Not even sure where to start with perosnals!! Will try to remember
Malyna- Wooohoo on you rbook! What an achievement!! You must be so proud of yourself.
Olive- Hope Millie isn't sick for too long..catch up soon!!!
Shell- I understand about not getting any rest!!! L is so into everything too so hard I seriuosly don't remember DD being this much hard work!!
OP- Hope you ge some rest over easter, sounds like ur been a busy girl...Also just wanted to say I think it's such an achievement that u have been able to continue breastfeeding DD whilst being pregnant.. You mentioned the colostrum, does your milk go completey back to colostrum towards the end of the pregnancy??? or is it like the transistional milk that you have after you give birth???
Nai- Did ur friend find the bike trailer?? also what type of balance bike did you have for DD1, i want to get one for DS for his second birthday...I know just getting over his first but I am trying no to leave things to the last minute like I normally do!!
Hello to everyone else!! I will try to keep up this time....
AFU- We are going well, L is sleeping better at night we have even had a couple of slept throughs!!! so i am feeling much better about that. Stilll not walking... Is L the only one??? I don't mind but I do wonder if it will be easier when he is not crawling, hoping he will put less in his mouth, yes he still does that not as bad but still most of the time... today I found a bugs leg in his mouth not sure where the rest of the bug went, not sure I want to know:sick:
DH calls him hoover!!! Our own personal vacuume, even though I vacuume up to twice a day now...:wall:
-
 at hoover pinny!! M was eating blue chalk today, before that it was tan bark and before that she was licking the water from a puddle!! this was all today!
-
Pinny - Miss J isn't walking either! We have an Aldi balance bike but you can get similar ones from wooden.net or Netti make them too and they stock them at bike shops. Target often have Thomas teh Tank Engine ones that are similar as well.
-
Pinny - DS isn't walking and I don't reckon he's that close either. He can stand by himself for a second or two if his legs are spread really wide appart  Otherwise he still needs to hold onto something and he's not climbing yet either (thank goodness!).
Malyna - IKWYM about staying up late to do your own thing to keep your sanity. I'm often up til 11pm (late for me lol!) and I always think I should be sleeping....
Lilima/Shell - for going solo girls. I hate it when DP has to work a day or even a few hours on the weekend. I look forward to weekends as a time when it won't be so full on so it really bothers me when it feels like a week day anyway.
Olive - YAY on having a day out to yourselves! Sounds like fun. Hope the other night went ok with DD2. DS is doing the awake for a couple of hours between 2 and 4am too :( Totally sucks! We've had a runny nose on and off for weeks here too but I suspect it's related to teeth. Didn't realise you were back at work hun, sorry  how has it been?
Shell - glad you said that about this age. I have been thinking the same thing but have no other reference point for older kids. DS wants to do heaps, knows his own mind but can't. I feel like I'm always redirecting him away from stuff he can't do or touch. Good luck with the sewing! I can sew but the machine is in DS room so whenever I have a chance, he's in there sleeping!!
OP - So glad DD is sleeping longer stretches for you!
AFU - More teeth on their way. Pretty rough nights over the weekend but he went nearly 7 hours last night without a wake up and I'm still not feeding him overnight so those are positives. He is helping out in that regard though  because he keeps damaging my left nipple. So over feeding through pain. Don't know what to do about it. I'm reluctant to wean him fully cause I know bfing is still good for him and it's only 2-3 times a day now but geez it's painful :( I can't restrict his movement like when he was a newborn and he tends to pull up and down while feeding.
DP and I have started talking about when to have number 2 :o Don't get too excited though, it won't be for a while yet!!! Even talking about it is pretty full on.
-
kaz i volunteer at my local hospital ED 3 hours a week, so not reaaaaaaaaaly work!!
great news on not feeding!!
have your thought about seeing a LC about the nipple issues??
-
Hadn't thought about the LC  Good idea. Barb found some who were willing to service my neck of the woods back when DS was a few months old - hope I still have that PM!
-
Kaz - J will walk when he's ready. MIL was telling me her physio had a daughter who didn't walk until she was 22mths - just didn't feel the need for it - there was nothing wrong with her.
Olive - volunteering is still working :-D I admire your energy levels!
Pinny - love the hoover comment - Alex goes up to various parts of one of our cats wiht his mouth open - i've got there in time a couple of times, when he's tried to do it to her bum - I don't even want to think what happens when I'm out of the room! he's had a few cat biscuits - now I know his secret to a shiny shiny coat.. I mean hair.
-
OP- That's for the tip about Mainly Music!! I looked it up and there's one starting near me in May so we're going to go!!
Shell- I think I would prefer a smaller playgroup too but they're all full up atm!! Awesome on the sewing! I am getting into it too! I have no idea how to sew but I have a sewing machine and am just making it up as I go along, pmsl. Next I'm going to make DD a skirt, well, try to anyway.
lilima- hope you get some time with your DH soon!!
Malyna- I'm so amazed at you writing a book! Well done to you!! That's awesome!!
Nai- DD is the same with the tantrums!! Arches her back and throws herself around, pinches me or hits if I try to move her away from something! Or if she is on the ground and gets the ****s she will storm off and sit down with her back to me and frown, pmsl. I just leave her be and wait for her to come to me for a cuddle when she's calmed down.
Olive- Awesome about the sleep!! I hope DD is heading that way but I won't get my hopes up, LOL.
Pinny- Yay on the better sleep!! Maybe they are all going to get better now they're one!! Woot!
Kaz- Ouch!! That doesn't sound good, hope a LC can help you out!! I know you said don't get too excited that you're think about another baby but I am!! LOL. Maybe we will be belly buddies again one day! If AF ever comes back that is, lol.
Ali- Where are you? Hope you're doing well!! And the beautiful girl too!
AFM- Well still going with the night weaning here, very gently. Last night was the first night we tried no feeds!! I didn't feed her before bed bc I thought she'd be awake in an hr anyway and I would feed her then for her last feed for the night. She always seems to wake about an hr after bed. But she slept straight through until 2am!! Unheard of here, she always wakes at least once before midnight!! DH resettled. Then woke up again at 4.30 and I fed her bc she hadn't had a feed for 12 hrs!! Then back to sleep until 7.30am!! Best sleep in a while!! So I think the night weaning is paying off, must have decided there's no point waking up if she's not going to be getting fed anyway. She was fine without having a feed, no tears :D I think it's really just a habit she's gotten into. Hopefully it just keeps getting easier from here but knowing her it won't, LOL.
