Hey ladies,
Shell - GL with continuing the food experiments, sounds like you're getting onto it...
Ali - loved Cats thanks! It was awesome :D GL with the shots, don't forget to take some yummy food for a distraction afterwards! Wish I had done that! Bring on holidays - last week this week? Or next? It is this week in Vic.
Nai - have you started the bottle of milk thing? I think we'll have to try that on Sat as we have a wedding and DD is going to be with the ILs, and I don't have any expressed milk. Or do I... can't rememeber... anyway I can't be bothered buying special toddler formula just for that one occasion so it might have to be cow's milk. Will be interesting to see how you go!
Hi to RR! Nice to see you pop your head in! Hope you're doing well.
AFU: Really struggling with sleep here. Feel like I have a newborn again - she just won't settle (for the night) when we try and put her down at 7pm. Tried 6.30pm last night as she was almost asleep when I BF her at that time, so we tried to put her down and she woke straight up.
Don't know what it is - the last few nights have been horrible, we put her down, she screams. Pick her up and almost instantly she falls asleep in your arms, so she is clearly exhausted. Then cuddle for ten mins or so, put her down in cot, BAM, wide awake and screaming straight away.
Ended up last night just holding her for like half an hour to ensure she was really, really, really asleep then put her down. I just can't handle the screaming!
Once she's asleep, she generally sleeps thru til morning, but that getting to sleep stage is just exhausting me and DH both.
Any ideas? Anyone??
Hello lovelies!!
I haven't posted for a while!!
DD is getting her molars. Well she has been for ages but 1 has popped through now. Looks vicious!! Poor baby. We are starting to try night weaning. We are doing Dr Jay Gordan's one so we've had 3 nights of the feeding but not to sleep bit iykwim. So I feed her for a couple of minutes when she wakes and then take her off before she's asleep. Surprisingly she rolls over and goes to sleep!!!! WTH?? There has been a couple of times when she's got really upset and we've had to get up and rock her but I think it's to do with her teeth being sore. It's in the early morning when the panadol has probably worn off. Great time to start night weaning, lol. But there's always a reason not to and she's always teething so we just decided to go for it. Tonight it's no feeds between 11 and 6, I'm a bit nervous!! Might break it up into 2 bits and give her a feed in the middle bc she might adjust to that better and with the teething she'll probably be cranky.
Hope everyone else is well!!
Am I the only one without a baby who self settles now?? LOL. Still feeding or rocking to sleep here. She's a stubborn one and all attempts to stop have failed, lol, so now I'm just waiting for her to grow out of it.
How are u going with the night weaning olive?
quick post!
heaven im up to night 7 i think of night weaning! been 4 nights of no feeds! thursday night she woke at 12.30 and it took til 2.10 to get her back to sleep, friday night took an hour, sunday night was the worst, she was up 3 times. first wake up (10pm) took over an hour to get back to sleep,(i chose not to feed cos i was worried it would confuse her) the other two wake ups were quicker, last night she woke at 4.09, a few quick cuddles and she self settled back to sleep til 6.30 so our best night yet!
she feeds to sleep for both day sleep and at night, but i sort of wake her a little at night so shes drowsy, shes always self settled , its just being able to re-self settle during the night she gotten reliant on needing a quick feed, its been harder, harder than when i weaned her in january! i hope this is the last time i have to night wean her!!
lol OP were opposites!!
Olive: 3 things:
1. So if we combine M's settling with I's sleeping through, we have the perfect baby! Easy done, let's do it!
2. Just noticed your ticker, congrats for tomorrow!!!! Hope you have a lovely day and get some quality time with DH :D
3. Where and how are you donating EBM? I enquired at the Mercy Breastmilk Bank about donations but they are only accepting cashola donations at this point, not EBM
OP - We have been doing the bottle of milk at night for a few nights now and Miss J is doing really well. It's just cow's milk and she has a full bottle. She is now only having 1 BF in the morning when she wakes up. She is pretty much sleeping through now, goes down at 7pm and wakes at 5.30am for a BF and cuddle and we get up at 6.30. I wish she would sleep later but I can't really complain.
OP
1) lol!!! lets!!!
2) thanks love! were off to the city for the day on saturday to do some shopping and have lunch, looking forward to eating ALLLLLLLLL my food and not having to share it with little people!
3) private donation! donating to a friend for her bubba!
ETA nai M still isnt keen on milk! i try every day but she spits it out
We are down to one feed every secon d day. I have been taking this weaning really slowly, especially since it is my last bub, so last time feeding!
I am glad J is doing well Nai. My kids get up around 6. We all cuddle in bed together for a while then get up for the day.
I have been offered a permanent 0.6 job. I am in two minds. I really only want 0.5, and I can get as much locum work as I want. So don't know if I should just stay casual. It is with more challenging work, in Acquired Brain Injury, (dealing with sorting crisis accom, job placement, therapy teams etc - so much more challenging) that I enjoy much more than aged and disability.
What to do?!
Olice - hang in there.
E has been ravenous today. ate breakfast, then a cup of milk, some of James' smoothie, a sandwich, a biscuit, half a banana, a bottle of milk, then a cheese stick, another half banana, bowl of veggies, bowl of yoghurt, another bikkie, and some grapes.
She is also now grabbing the mobile phone and putting it to her ear.
Does anyone with a second child notice that they seem to do things much quicker? E loves drawing on the chalkboard and on paper. J never did at this age, but maybe i didn't offer it to him??
lilma M is much quicker with stuff! we do the phone to ear thing too! its very cute, she also initiates twinkle twinkle little star, does the actions and tries to sing!
wow E eats heaps!! M isnt eating much at all, even with me cutting the feeds (well she feeds heaps)
Meg- I think it does have to do with more opportunity presented to them because they get to use all the older childs stuff and look up to them to imitate.
The job offer sounds great, even tho its that extra day a fortnight might be worth it if you are interested in working in that area and having that extra challenges.
Heaven and Olive- Good luck with the night weaning. You'll both get there.
OP- she's a cheeky one, guess she loves having you there to be with her while she goes to asleep but tiring for you. Emily went thru a stage of cracking iot big time as soon as I out her down and left the room but she got out of it again.
I just realised today Emily has a molar thru on one side and on the other top and bottom bulging thru, explains the grizzling and drooling but funny thing is that usually the get 4 teeth at front first both top and bottom but she has 3 at top, fourth just coming thru and only 2 at bottom with no sign of another 2.
shell ouch with the molar  hope E copes ok!!
we had a crap morning, M woke at 4am and wouldnt resettle, i gave up at 5.50am and fed her, she screamed and screamed, but once i fed her she went back to sleep for an hour, then at her sleep she woke after 25 mins, i cried!! but i managed to get her back to sleep :o thats a first!! mum came over while she was still asleep as i had a dentist appointment!
hoping tonight/tomorrow morning is better.
i tell you she chucks the biggest tanties :( screams for boob, constantly pullingmy top down, not eating etc.. i bouoght some dry cereal that im going to give her tomorrow morning to seel if she'll eat taht!
how is everyone else??
Olive - I really hope she does better for oyu tonight. It's tough hey?
We have swapped days at playgroup. We now go Tuesday as i work Wednesday, and the women couldn't be any more different. I am really enjoying it. There are a few of us that do cloth, a few with amber teething necklaces, and co sleepers, so I don't feel judged. (we don't co sleep, but I would never judge someone that does.)
We have been invited out for a play date next week. And different to Wednesday, when the clique would organise playdates and leave some of the mother out. This one everyone is invited!
I hope everyone had a better night! Miss J has woken the last 3 mornings soaked through her nappy - and we are using sposies at night. Any suggestions? I think it is because she is sleeping on her tummy.
Meg - that's so good about playgroup! It's wonderful when you find a group that you fit in with. It's funny, my original playgroup is really great and the one I joined with J is also lovely but none of them go out of their way to catch up with me outside of playgroup. I know they see each other and I was a late ring-in but it would be nice. I joined as I am friends with one of the mums and I do see her but none of the others really.
nai use boy nappies!!!!
bbl feeding
Morning all
Well another cr@ppy night and early morning here. We got DD off to sleep before our Tuesday night people came round (they come every Tues) so we thought beauty, she'll stay asleep... well she would have if the couple with the 14wk old baby didn't need to borrow a wrap :wall: Which of course are all in DD's room  So into DD's room I creep, not quiet enough, she woke up and then screamed for an hour! Even with me or DH holding her, she was still screaming!
Then she was awake at 4.15am, I resettled with a drink of water and a cuddle, but she was awake again at 5.10am. My eyes are hanging out of my head...
Anyway she's my mum's problem now... I'm at work. Mum was going to take her into the "World's Biggest Playgroup", anyone else going in for that??
Nai - no good about the wetting! Can't really help sorry - we're in cloth overnight so I've got no clue about sposies. LOL at trying boy ones... I would never have thought of that! Hope it works for you! I think the same as you when DD wakes at 6am, I can't really complain because half the time we wake her at that time when I'm working, so we can't complain when she wakes herself up... but 5.10am was just toooo early this morning!
Meg - that's great about your playgroup! Sounds like you have found some kindred spirits. Sometimes I think Det and I get some funny looks in our mothers' group - we're the only ones still BF, no one else uses cloth, no one cosleeps, none of that. We are trying to turn into a playgroup at the moment, which might improve things. Some of our MG can be a bit cliquey so I'm hoping that once we are a playgroup and some other mums join, it might break down some barriers a bit!
Olive - we're starting to get the tanties too. Seems to be more sleep related than anything... GL with the food situation! Does she show any interest in what big sister is eating?? Sat sounds great! And good on you for your EBM donations!
Shell - well here's hoping Miss I gets over it like E did. How are E's gums and teeth? Poor thing! Hope she's coping ok.
Meg - I'd take the more challenging job too. Coming back to work has been hard for me because I'm not inspired by what I'm doing, its not challenging me and its the same same as I've been doing for ever. So I'm all for a more challenging position, especially if its something you're interested in! And its only an extra four hours I think? Well I guess four hours plus a whole lot more brain power required.
Heaven, how's the night weaning going?
Hi to everyone else!!
nai i have some boy nappies, just the old style coles one (got them for $6 a packet) i can send you some and see if they hold up. thiough i dont get how boys supposible pee out the front and girls down the bottom, my girls both pee out the front! boy nappies have more padding at th efront which is good for tummy sleepers!
OP oh no at the 5.10am wake up  i hope she sleeps well and all night tonight! bugger about needing the wrap
meg glad the playgroup is much bette!! i love the two groups i see!!
