Meg- Is J ok now? Has he got ventolin for in case? Weekend surprise sounded fantastic, I was telling DF and asking what he is gonna plan for me lol. Pressure is on now!

OP- 2 in nappies drove me nuts, lucky I only had for a short time as Ash was nearly 2.5 when Em was born. Sounds like things are going well there.

Nai- she's a clever girl, Emily's idea of using a spoon is to scoop food out onto the table and play in it. I think J needs to give her eating lessons.

I'm finding this age so tiring! lol. In to everything and anything!

Hi girls - the book is still progressing - now become three. Alex is not sleeping on his own.. I'm struggling with pnd gotta go

OP - Great to hear you are enjoying it and things are managable. X-man sounds very cruisey!

Nai - :rofl: at the outcome of the happy dance! We've had poo land on the bathroom floor too but there was no potty in sight! I've just started showing DS where his poo actually goes after I change the nappy and he is helping to flush the toilet. I ask if he has done a poo (when I think he has) but he has a tendency to say yes regardless of the question atm so he's not always accurate. DD2 sounds very clever.

Ellie - Good to hear you are getting some sleep. One wake up a night sounds fantastic! And yay for getting out of the house. I still remember the first time I did that independently with only one child to organise.

Shell - DS does the same thing when he gets a spoon! Onto his tray and mush it around everywhere.

AFU - Can't remember what was going on the last time I posted. Still no major improvement with sleep. There's flu, or teeth or (like last night) vomiting that always seems to get in the way. The other night we only had 2 wake ups and it was great! We're off to sleep school next month. I'm feeling ok about it but not getting my hopes up. Will be good to get opinions of others who see sleep difficulties all the time. During the admission booking interview the lady started talking about how some kids just need less sleep and will continue to wake regardless so I think they're already planting the seed that they might not be able to do much. DS also getting smarter by the day - he'll be smarter than me soon lol!! Favourite word is 'uh-oh' and says it everytime something is dropped. Is very into making his own decisions too (food, drink, play, day sleeps etc).

Kaz - Love Mr J - he's a yes man!! Thanks for the kind words.... I don't talk to anyone IRL - I have spoken to my GP, who is absolutely lovely. I'm doing everything I can, except go on meds. it ain't the first time I've ridden this horse. I'm so stubborn and independant that I willovercome it, grow stronger and move on.

Shell - I think miss J needs to give all our kids lessons on eating - Miss I sounds similar to Miss E! I'm finding this age tiring too... I keep telling people that DD is giving us more trouble than the baby!

AFU: we are travelling well, DS has started to have more awake time but still sleeps well once he is finally asleep... DD is the one who is causing us stress, as I said above! She just pushes every possible boundary - she knows certain things are not allowed but does them anyway. We've started having tantrums when she doesn't get her own way, with real tears and screaming. So frustrating!

What can I try to discipline her? When she does something she knows is wrong, what can I do as punishment?? I take her toys away if she is misusing then, put them somewhere she can see but not reach, tell her why she has lost the toy. But when it is something like hitting me or her brother, what can I try??

The main things was

OP- I am at wits end too and now even more so that I lost my post but we are in a worl of ignore everything mummy says and chuck a tantrum when she loses it. I wrote heaps more but bascially we have tried EVERYTHING!!! I dont know what to do but I dont want her to turn into a naughty girl.

Miss E chucks tanties too, but I just ignore her,. Sometimes she follows me around and throws herself on the floor in front of me, then I walk off, her following me, and throws herself on the floor in front of me again!
I just don't have time to cter to her tanties, and I think being the second, I am used to it.

Her eating has improved this week, but who knows what next week will bring. I find that I jjust cut her food up, give her a fork and she feeds herself. She does a really good job actually.

Her fave thing at the moment is when we stop at the traffic lights, she starts saying "go - stop!!"

I ignore tanties too, I just go on and do something else. Emily is funny tho she usually gets over something very fast, goes from screaming to laughing in seconds, Ashleigh on the other hand her bad moods and cracking it can go on and on.
Ali, hopefully she will just grow out of it, I think at this age its more about frustration than being naughty? Just cause they can't communicate so easily what they want and they don't know their limitations on what they can do. Doesn't make it any easier tho does it!

OP- when Ash got rough with Emily after she was born, I used to always take her hand and show her gentle and say it over to sort teach her. Emily is at a stage of hitting us now she even says "ow ow" while she is doing it but I say "no" firmly than do the gentle thing.

Malyna- I hope things look up for you, its good you have a supportive GP. I'm glad you've got your writing too to help you along.

Kaz- Good luck with the sleep school. You never know you may get some good tips out of it.

Emily has been making us laugh, more and more the personality is coming thru and the 2 girls start playing together alot more.

OP i hope things are gettng better with DD, its a hard age, they dont understand etc... tanties....fun NOT!

Girls thanks for your suggestions and sympathies... So nice to know I'm not alone!!

I walk away from the tantrums and I frequently do... It's the hitting and biting I can't stand.

I do the gentle thing with DD with X and she is getting so much better with him... but with DH and me, and with some of the other kids at our playgroups she is way too rough and hits and even bites.

I have turned into the mother of the terrible kid at Playgroup who terrorizes the other kids... :(

I know it is probably just a phase but I really wish it was over...

Lilima - we have tried giving
DD her own knife and fork (plastic) but she just smashes them into her food.

Hey ladies, where is everyone? Hope everyone is well...

We aren't doing so well ATM - DS cluster feeds from about 6 or 7pm thru til midnight or thereabouts... Totally normal behaviour for his age I know, but so hard when DD is waking frequently, or in the case of last night, she only really slept from 2am - 6am... The rest of the night she was coughing and crying :(

Poor love is so miserable... Breaks my heart... I know she'll get better soon but it's just tough with DS as well...

Kaz - thinking of you this week... I think it was this week you were at sleep school?

Olive, how are your lovelies? Any reprieve from the illnesses??

Alex chucks good tanties - he throws his face on the floor and then does a body wave - he's learnt that it hurts to faceplant the ground, so he doens't do them that often. Mostly he chucks them when he can't see what I'm doing, so I spend a lot of my dinner time, chopping stuff up on the floor, or sitting him in the highchair showing him every stage of what I cook.

He threw a tantrum in the pool last week - faceplant inthe water. his little face was priceless - a baby version of WTF. Have decided to stop taking him to swim classes - he doesn't enjoy it, spends all of his time sitting on my hip, not joining in on the activities. I'll try him later.

If he's cracking it for something, I don't give it to him, ignore him. i don't have the sharing problem - he gives things to everyone - but that's today.

So glad to here Miss A isn't the only on 'spitting it'...fists in the mouth...face going red...feet stamping...then thrashing on the ground...'sigh'....they do grow out of this right? Can't believe MissT is 11 weeks tomorrow...it's all a big BLUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So thankful though...feeding around 8.30pm then 3am then 7am so getting some sleep...but still totally stuffed...sorry for no persies...reading and feeling for everyone with all going on...just so so stuffed! Ex

Ellie - definitely not the only one throwing tanties!!! DD tends to go straight for the floor, kicking and screaming. Lovely! 11wks?? Wow that has gone so fast! That will be me soon, saying the exact same thing! Christmas will be here before we know it... I am hanging for when DS feeds 8.30, 3, 7... that'd be awesome. ATM we are getting cluster feeds from 6pm-10,11,12am... then 2-3hrly feeds til morning. Sigh! It'll get better, I know.

Malyna - we ignore as well, but that sucks when you are out somewhere. People think you're a horrible parent!

You are so not the only one with a tanty child! Miss J arches her back and then does a sort of porpoise kick (am thinking butterfly might be her swimming stroke!) unrt til I put her down and she rolls around on the floor screaming. Det saw her start to crack it at the catch up the other day :lol: Most of the time it happens when she wants to do what her big sister is doing but can't or isn't able to. She gets so frustrated.

OP- Loved your birth story. I always remember you saying how much you loved reading them and you wrote such a fabulous one.

Nai- Miss J sounds like DD. I try to ignore most of it but it is so embarrassing when she does it when weare out. In fact she is so cheeky and deliberatly doesnt listen to what I say and thinks running away from me is a game. :o

Lilima- I have noticed DD getting better with a fork as well. She loves to randomly stab her food with it though.

AFM- work is busy busy busy. Enjoying the new job role but it is ALOT of work. On my work days I am up until at least 2am and then the alarm goes off at 6am and DD is at childcare by 7am and not picked up until 5:30pm. Whoever in th world said that teachers work 9-3pm lied! LOL! I do make sure on my days off I do NO WORK AT ALL (unless its Sunday night preparation).

I have 5 weeks until my holiday which is very exciting. Still going well on the weight loss. Have been trying on my old cossies (even bikinis) and they are starting to look okay. Still havelots to do in 5 weeks though.

DD LOVES LOVES LOVES play school at the moment. We ahve a dvd of it and it has been known to go on at midnight if she wakes just so she will lie in bed next to us. She is saying a few more words now. Speech still not great but I can see some progress. We are off to the zoo tomorrow. One of the perks of being Assistant Principal was that becasue I was the one to organise year 2's excursion to the zoo, I was given complimentry visit passes for 4 people (teachers) but DP and my gf who I job share with and her DP are going with the girls. tickets are normally $43 each so we are saving $170 which is fantastic. Just hoping its not raining and the DD behaves.

Better go, off to a baby shower today.

olive - :hug: I had a day like that on Monday. No sleep between 8am and 4pm and I was sick and it was a nightmare. I hope DD went down for you shortly after you made that post.

:hello: to everyone else!!

With the tanties, we are getting them as well. Have been for a little while and they seem to be getting worse! I have tried talking calmly, trying to help (if he can't do something he wants to), ignoring him and just waiting for it to be over. I have found that getting on with something else or playing by myself with his toys work the fastest in snapping him out of it. I was starting to worry about what it might mean for his personality/termperament that he does this so young but hearing that everyone elses kids are doing the same thing is reassuring. I have worked out for DS that his 'bad' behaviour is much more likely if he's tired or unwell. And Lilima, I was thinking just yesterday that by the time number two comes along and does this it will be old hat and also that part of the problem with the dynamic with DS is that I do have time to give the issue some attention etc now but that will change and I've decided that he definitely needs to have siblings because some of his tanties are happening when I'm talking to someone else and not to or about him (even if he's on my lap at the time!!!!). But don't get too excited everyone, we're not TTC just yet.

RE: sleep school - it's not for a couple of weeks yet. I am kind of looking forward to seeing what they think of DS and also getting their tips for handling his demanding behaviour and tanties etc during the day. Sleep has been pretty rough at times but last night was ok. In the past week to 10 days we've had gastro twice and he's cutting three molars which are causing no end of grief for him. Fingers crossed I don't get the gastro a second time too (will be due to strike tomorrow if last week is anything to go by).
