Babies born~February 16th-28th 2009 #13

Hi ladies,

Just thought I would let you all know that I am pregnant again, 8 weeks. I use a different username on this site now and thought if you saw if in the preg forums you might realise it was me.
Due Feb 8th 2011 (just before Milana's second birthday), but I am with a high risk Ob, getting regular scans and appts, he thinks we will do bed rest for at least a couple of weeks before and deliver by 34 weeks, which will be between xmas and new year.
It's going to be a stressful and difficult journey, but I had to at least give it a go, need to try and move on and ease the pain of her death just a little.
Had a scan a couple of days ago and 'Pip Squeak' is measuring to my dates with a strong heartbeat.
Wish you were all still be belly buddy group, really miss you all.

OP - hope all goes well with the birth.

Tracy - Congratulations!! I am so happy for you - I hope Pip Squeak continues to grow from strength to strength. I am glad you have a good OB looking after you. Take care of yourself and your tribe - we miss you too :hug: We do think about you and Milana all the time.

OP - I think your little man is just too comfy - at least he made it to the new financial year (that means extra Baby Bonus I think? - he's looking out for you :lol: )

Pinny - LOL at me being calm! I'm more harried and frazzled at the moment. I do try to be clam though so maybe it is starting to work.

Malyna - good luck with your book! It sounds like A is a little monkey and very adventurous!

Heaven - yay on the sleeping through! I think we have turned a corner with the sleeping and Miss J is starting to sleep through more often than not. All 16 teeth are through which I think has made a big difference.

AFM - I am still waiting for the new contract so i haven't been able to resign from work, so still a bit in limbo. I wish it would hurry up!!!!

Nai - yep, he's definitely enjoying it too much in there :rolleyes: Don't know what it means about the baby bonus? But either way I've already been taxed too much (my mat leave came through and they've taxed like over a third of it or something... heaps!) so I should do well next FY at tax time!

That's a bit crummy about your contract - get onto them!

Malyna - hi hi, still here! That's abit scary about Alex getting out of his cot!!! :o Might be time for a big bed?

OP - we have been sleeping on a mattress on the floor for the past 8mths, putting A in the cot was a last resort.

Went to the movies tonight and Alex is still up and running around - he had a very late nap - about 8pm, woke up and is full of the joys of spring - just got to wait for him to get tired.

Tracey- Congrats on your pregnancy, I can imagine it will be stressful time for you but also try make sure you enjoy it too. Keep us updated on your journey, we think about you often.

We've spent the morning in ED, Emily had the tiniest bit peanut butter toast and I noticed her top lip swelling, threw it out but noticed her mouth getting red blotchy then she rubbed her eye which caused that to swell up, so washed her face and hands down and drove off to ED, thankfully her tongue was ok and breathing was ok, I kept checking, thinking now I should've just called an ambulance would've been less stressful. They gave her prenisolone (steroid) and she has to have for next 2 days and I have to pick up an epi pen in case next time is worse reaction. So no more peanut butter in my house! Poor Ash not happy as lately she has been living on it!

:hug: shell, peanut allergy was/is my worse fear, nuts are in EVERYTHING :shakehead: its bad enough having an intolerance but thats no where as bad as as allergy, definatly get that epipen and take it everywhere

Tracey- So happy to hear that you are pregnant. My gf who lost her baby is trying again and said exacty the same as you. I am glad that your OB is looking after you. I have been meaning to ask you if you continued being a doula or not? I know it was something that you really wanted to do but wasnt sure how you would feel about it. Always thinking of you and beautiful Millana adn thank you for dropping in to let us know your news :hug:

OP- U getting some action over your way? I think that was what worked for your DD to bring on labour so tell DH to get busy! LOL! How have the family been? Hope they have backed off and are being supportive.

Shell- Just saw your post on FB!! Far out! glad all is okay. Do you know how to use an epipen? Actually I suppose you would being a nurse and DP should knwo being a teacher. Scary stuff :hug:

Malyna- Cant believe Alex got out of his cot! WOW! What a cheeky monkey. Lucky the mattress was on the floor. :hug:

Heaven- Woohoo on DD sleeping through the night! YAY! Was going to ask you, are you going to find out the sex of the baby? I know you didnt with DD. Hope the MS is settling. I had it until 17weeks but I kind of just got used to it and then when I finally didnt have it, I felt it was so strange to not be throwing up everyday! LOL!

Ellie- How have you been? Thinkng of you and hoping you are able to get out of the house more. :hug:

Pinny- Yep officially promoted! Going to enjoy the hols and then will have a lots of work on my hands but it will look great on my resume and will be good to get some extra money. Also a big step for mums on maternity leave part time as they have never given an AP job to a jobshare position so we are stoked. Shows that so much of our hard work is being recognised and kind of makes the stress that was last term at school worth while. oven will be getting replaced but not sure when. They were shocked that it happened but at the same time, said it was the original. The hard thing will be now finding an oven to go in the space, as its a massive space and a normal oven put in its place would leave a big gaping whole in the cupboard. I can kind of see this being another **** fight but we have to kind of just put up with it as we cant afford to move anywhere else as we are getting such a good deal here. Frustrating!

Kaz- How are you and Jacob? I cant even imagine how cold it owuld be at your place. Have you had snow yet?

Holly- Where are you? havent seen you on FB or here? Hope all i okay and uni is going well.

AFM- We are going well. On holidays! YAY! DD being cheeky but cute as ever. Nappy rash has all gone. Curash nappy powder worked wonders and lots of bepanthen. I have also now got DD in the huggies nappy pants. Omg I love them! Make nappy changes so much easier and if they do a poo you can still undo the sides to easily get it off. Better get back to the chores while DD is asleep.

Oh man I'm gone a week or so and all sorts of stuff happens!!!

OP - Hope you're in labour now hun! Been thinking of you. I remember what it was like to have due date come and go. Take care. xx

Heaven - Hooray on the sleep through. Hope it's the start of great things! I agree about how quickly they are developing now too. DS seems to know more and more every day and he understands exactly what's going on and what's being said etc. Can't wait til it's a two way street as I often don't understand what he is upset about yet :( Good luck hiding your ms from your mum, could you pretend you've got a bit of gastro or something?
Holly - Been thinking of you too hun. How did your exams go? Are the results back yet?
Lilima - the amounts you've mentioned sound similar to what DS eats. He is more of a snack on the go type of guy :lol: I hope her appetite improves. She could be just testing boundaries, that's all they seem to do at this age. Test reactions etc.
Ellie - Hope there's enough sleep going round at your place hun.

AFU - DS got that cold/flu you've all seemed to have as well a few weeks back. He ended up on ab's and home from day care for a week. I took some time off work then caught it myself and it knocked me hard. It's evil. I went to drs earlier this week and was told could only take panadol because b'feeding. Couple of days later the s/s were worse and panadol (which never did cut it btw), was having no effect at all. Had terrible sinus pain and splitting headache if I moved too quickly, normal headache rest of time. Nurofen didn't even touch it. I couldn't get into dr.s yesterday so took myself to A&E, waited nearly 2 hours and saw a wonderful dr. who's given me a bunch of drugs that are all fine to take while still b'feeding. Better yet, he didn't suggest I wean :angry: So now I have ab's, cough/snot stuff and panadeine forte. Feeling much better :lol: Was horrible and I hope those of you that have escaped it so far, continue to do so. DS is all better too and went back to care on Wed and I booked him in extra yesterday just so I could sleep :redface: Mum was here last weekend but went home right when I got really bad. It sucks not having family close by to help and all my mates in town also have little ones and I didn't want to run the risk of sharing.

In other news, we've been referred to Tresillian. I have really mixed feelings about it. Plus, DP, who I thought was really supportive of sleep school (cause he used to talk about a few different friends we know who've had good outcomes from Karatane/Tresillian) now says he doesn't have as much of an issue with DS's sleep as I do and it's up to me whether we go or not (but gives me the impression he thinks we don't really need it and can manage). So now I feel like all the responsibility for the decision is on my shoulders. Don't know what to do. We had a bit of a fight about other little stuff this morning and he's been out with DS for hours now :(

Kaz - you can always try sleep school - maybe they can help.. sorry to hear you had a cold - it's take me a month to feel better - back to being 100%. I always find that when I'm sick everything is soo much worse and harder etc.

Shell - farout with the peanut allergies, that would have been really scary.

Shell - I know how scary that peanut allergy is, DD1 is allergic to peanuts and brazil nuts. We carry a epipen for her. If you need any info etc just ask.

AFM - I have one knee balck and blue and twice the size of the other. On the bright side, nothing broken and my bike barely has a scratch. DP reckons I threw myself on the road to protect it :lol:

Nai- thanks, I worry about it as she gets older, at least at home I know what she is eating etc but out and about will worry me, if she goes to party and kids or parents give her something, do you have those worries? Do you find it hard organising food around it? Just cause alot of packaged stuff has may contain nuts, guess she'll have to eat good stuff, no crappy snacks.
I saw on FB about your run in with car door, thank god you're not hurt more than you are! Are you able to move around ok or too painful? Hope DP is waiting on you hand and foot, get little bell to call when you need something. How is your bike?

Kaz-Don't stress if your DP thinks you need it or not, base your decision on what you need, if you think you are at that point where you need some outside help I say go for it, you need to think of your wellbeing also and if sleep is an issue for you then why not get help. And if this place is not for you then at least you can say you tried it and you never know you may get something great out of it.

Ali- when is your FIji trip? I'm so jealous! Very exciting bout your new job too! Woohoo! I have rough idea how to use epi pen but never actually had to use one. And yeah Df did get shown at school, think he wants an uopdate tho.

Thanks to everyone here and on FB for your thughts on Emily, was stressful day. She still has some red welts on her face but overall seems fine.

Ah OP, he will come out eventually. I used to just relax and think, 'well, this kid can't stay in there forever'. All pregnancies must end eventually. Enjoy the last few days of being a one child family I reckon!

Thanks guys, I guess I just feel that there's no point going through a sleep "training" regimen, which will be stressful, if not traumatic for all involved, if I don't have the support of DP. He's now saying he's happy to co-sleep which we've been doing for a while now on and off. I don't sleep well when DS is in bed and wake frequently. There's no point going to Tresillian if we're co-sleeping and happy to continue that. DS goes down in his own bed, then spends the middle part of the night in ours, or in and out of ours depending on if he wants to play and then the last few hours back in his own bed. Think I'll just see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

Kaz- sounds like a good plan, just take each day at a time, you know sleep school is there if you need it. Do what works for you. How about a private person come in? A mum I know got one in and she worked around what they liked and wanted, only problem is very exxy, think $300 for the night and they got 2 nights.

OP- I'm waiting! lol. Hope you are resting up as much as you can.

Having dramas with DD1 and her attitudes atm. Think I'm looking forward to next 2 days of work.

Hi All - still feeling very shattered but I am on the mend. My kneecap has feeling in it again (yay) I jinxed myself again by saying that Miss J was sleeping better - I htink it must have just been a phase :lol: Back to waking in the night.

Shell - DD1 is ok with things that "may contain traces of nuts" so we just have to make sure she stays away from eating whole peanuts. That seems to be the big thing. To be honest it hasn't been that hard - no peanut products in the house or at any of the places she stays overnight. She carried antihistamine and epipen everywhere but fortunately we haven't had to use it so far.

Tracey- Oh I am so happy for you!! That is just fabulous news. I think about you often and your precious Milana. I will be stalking you too now, LOL. So which name do you use, is it BabyButterfly or ButterflyForever??

Nai- Wow, all 16 teeth! Can't wait til we're there! Only 4 to go now. She's got all her molars thank god. Ouch, that knee does not sound good!! :hug:

Sleep is still pretty good here amazingly!! She's usually sleeping 7 hrs at once then wakes and gets in our bed for a feed and then back to sleep for another few hrs! Unbelievable. Hope it lasts!

Just a quick vent from me - I'm not taking the new job :( They stuffed up on the amount they told me the pay was and it is much lower - too low for me to consider GRRRR! So I am staying where I am and having to ride across the city still. DP has gastro so I am expecting that the rest of us will get sick now - awesome NOT! I can't kneel down yet as my knee is still sore so I can't imagine vomiting will be easy :rolleyes:

I'm tired, 2 early shifts kill me, lol, they are 7am starts tho and I have to deal with patients who seem to have water phobias, no one wants to wash and they smell! Its was a battle.

Olive - :( that your DD is sick. I hope it doesn't last long. Great to hear that DD2 has continued to sleep well too. I went through a few phases of having mattress on floor in DS room but then he would end up down there with me and then it was just easier to bring him into our bed but that doesn't always work either.
Shell - When you guys with older children post about some of the challenges you have it makes me realise that this is still a pretty easy age. I hope DD1 calms down a bit for you and yuck on the water phobic patients!

AFU - Thought I'd come back in here today and make a positive post for a change!!! :redface: since I'm always in here whinging. I am in some kind of happy/good karma vortex today and I wish it could last!! After a week of horrible sleep and not even going down at 7pm like normal, DS slept 11 hours last night with one 30min wake up :hooray:. I've had a great day at work and got the afternoon off, on the clock. I now have time to clean the house before PiL get here tomorrow afternoon without DS underfoot and I'm catching up with some girlfriends tonight. Dinner is all sorted too. Unbelievable! Remind me of this day when I'm back here next week whinging again!!

Just wanted to reply to Heaven and say this is my new username on BB. Didn't want the whole world to know I was ttc again, and it took 11 months, thought it would never happen, so happy to be cooking a little brother or sister for Milana, although nervous of it all going wrong again.

Thanks so much for all your well wishes and thoughts, I really appreciate it. Little Alexander (or not so little) is doing really well, I had so forgotten what a newborn is like! All he does at the moment is feed and sleep, I can't remember clearly when DD was this little but we were at least still in hosp, even when we came home I seem to recall she was much more unsettled than he is. We'll see what I'm saying in 2 wks maybe :)

Need some reassurance from mums of 2 on here - it gets easier, right??

DH needs to go back to work on Mon (own business sigh) and the thought of dealing with DD and the baby terrifies me!!! DD's been a real handful today and it was hard enough with two of us... no idea how I'm going to handle her on my own!!

Please tell me it'll settle down...

OP hun i actually found two easy-ish, got harder as DD2 became mobile... but DD1 was older than your DD, id set yourself up either the night before or in the morning with meals, make yours and DD lunches and have them in the fridge.. have you got a slow cooker? if you do use that. remember to feed yourself, dont forget to look after yoourself

OP - It does get easier...or you just get used to it lol!!! I have the portacot set up in the family/kitchen area so I have somewhere to contain either one if need be...and the double pram inside so if things get really crazy they can both have a walk up and down the hallway while I 'breathe'! DD1 has watched more tv in the past 8 weeks than her whole life...guilt ridden over that but the good news is she won't remember...so I keep telling myself. The thing I'm finding the hardest is when they are both screaming for me and I can only pick one up at a time...breaking my heart. It is soooooo hard...I'm just thrilled that I've managed to have a shower and get dressed every day so far...how sad is that!!! Hang in there hun...we will get through!!!

i totally agree with olive- getting yourself organised the night before makes a huge difference. Have Ms I's breaky in the bowl with glad wrap over it, her lunch in the fridge all done - and your lunch as well, and have dinner planned as well!!! No more living off the cuff now hun- life with more than one child means a life with plans made ahead!!!!
also have a basket of toys that ms can play with when you are feeding on hand-even if they are different to her normal everyday toys- or a favourite DVD ready to go!!!
also lay out both kids clothes the night before and dont worry about housework until the are both zzz- pointless trust me!
i know your family will be a huge support as well- get them to take ms out for a bit so you can rest and concentrate on master a!
if it all goes pear shape - ring me and i will be around in a flash!!!!

all good here- survived the school holidays- just!!!
had dramas with the dog running away- but she has been found after 100 hours on the loose
went down to warrnabool for a quiet time and poor DH had to go home half way through because of the damm dog going missing- so here i was stuck down in warranbool with 3 kids in a house that wasnt baby proofed and no car- so much for a relaxing time!!

Thanks girls for the words of advice... I'm hearing you on the meals thing... I do have a slow cooker (I think - its a pressure cooker? same thing maybe?) so sounds like I'll need to start planning. TBH I prefer to be more organised like that so this should be easy for me.

I like the DVD thing... she is obsessed with the one Elmo DVD that we have, maybe I'll get another one and make it for special times.

Have teed up mum and sis (+ kids) to come for a visit tomorrow morning, so at least if things are completely chaotic I will be able to grab a shower at least while they are here. My niece is a great distraction for my DD, so that'll work well. MIL will be back from the beach house soon too, so I can utilise her a bit! But I need to work out my own way of dealing and getting things done...

Ellie - that's the bit I'm going to struggle with too I think, ATM if I'm feeding DS, DD wants to crawl all over me and gets frustrated that I'm trying to protect DS from her affectionate "pats" and "cuddles"!! I hate to think what's going to happen when she actually needs me and I'm unable to be there...

And I hear you on the TV thing... it is already proving a bit of a life saver... sad but true. DH said last night "I never thought as a parent I'd be willing to let my daughter, not even 18mths, sit and watch TV like this..." but I guess you do whatever helps get you thru huh!

Det - I'm really glad your doggie turned up ok! :D Bummer about the supposed "break". At least school is back tomorrow so you can have a little bit more of a break! Hopefully see you on Tuesday.

Hi to everyone else...!!

Op- those first couple months I did struggle with 2, think that's what's turned me off having more! But at the time Fil was sick and Df was going out alot more so I felt on my own. Tv was great, think we watched a heap of it, my hug a bub was handy if E was unsettled and I needed to do things. Just going out for a walk made a huge difference on my mental state, kids were settled and it got me out of the house. I found being stuck inside drove me nuts cause I'd look at everything that needed to be done and feel so overwhelmed. Just take one day at a time, do what u need to. If u can fit in one job a day do that then things won't feel so on top of you.

I'm still here, I generally read the happenings here most days on the iPhone while I'm BF little X-man (as we have started calling him!) but replying is a bit of a PITA!

But I'm here. This morning I woke up to an alternate universe where X had fed at 9.30 and 2.30, when DH left for work it was all quiet in DD's bedroom and X was still zzzzz... DD slept til 7.15 and X til 8.15 :o

Pretty good. Keep telling myself he is still little little little (one week tomorrow!!) and I know things could and probably will get a whole lot worse, but hey, I'm enjoying it for now.

How you doing love? How's J?? Sleep? No sleep? Lol...

Thanks to DET I've had a few great days...getting organised at night for the following day makes a huge difference...even got out of the house on my own with both cherubs for the first time...felt like super mum...sad I know...but a huge achievement for me. Bub only waking once a night for a feed so feeling really lucky to be getting some sleep...DD1 teeting and not so happy but getting through....off for some more sleep...stuffed...big hi to everyone xxx

AFM DD2 on the mend, temps gone but been replaced with a rash, so i assume she ahs a virus!

Olive- How did the Drs go? Is the rash just viral, nothing more?

Ellie- thats great to hear things are going well. Even some days here still it takes alot to get out of the house, Df doesn't seem to realise this tho he decieds lets go somewhere and expects to leave in a couple mins!

OP- ooh hope that all continues! I used to do that all the time with my phone, still do in the day when I'm having a coffee, but yeah is a pita trying to reply!

My mum babysits the girls each week when I work and she says she notices in just week huge changes, I think Em is, she has been way more chatty, trying to have conversations, more involved in things, must be developmental spurt or something.
Eating slightly improving, still not a vegie eater tho!

OP & Ellie - how are you going with your 2 new bundles? It is such a busy time and the days just fly by when you are running after 2 kids. I hope you are managing to get some rest in there as well.

Shell, Ali, Pinny-mum - I hope you are going well. I'm sure I've missed others.

AFU - Miss J is developing at a rapid rate. Her favourite words at the moment are "more" and "apple" - she wants more of everything especially food and all food at the moment is called "apple". This morning I asked if she was hungry and she nodded so I asked if she wanted cornflake - shook head "no", asked if she wanted Cheerios - shook head and said "o's", asked if she wanted rice bubbles and she nodded. Then proceeded to eat a whole bowl of rice bubbles with a spoon all by herself! She has been asking to sit on the potty too so every night before her bath she sits on it naked and says "weeeee" :lol: This has resulted in 3 wees in the potty and a poo on the floor (she got up and did a happy dance when she had done a wee in the potty - she clearly hadn't finished :rofl: )

That's fantastic about J with doing wees in the potty! Miss I always does a wee on the floor somewhere straight after her bath :rolleyes: So I keep telling DH to put her on the potty, but nothing yet. I am hanging to get her out of nappies... we are currently washing two loads of nappies every day and a half roughly... like if we let it go two full days then the buckets are way too full, but every day is too frequently... anyway point being I am spending far too much time in the laundry!

I know not to push it, but I am excited that she seems to be becoming more aware of wee and poo. Hoping it won't be much longer before we have some action in the potty!

As for little X - he is going very well, we're well and truly out of 4x0 clothes and into 3x0. We've moved the car seat straps once and have to do it again - he is just so big! He's a very quiet soul, so different to Miss I! She's an energizer bunny who terrorizes the other kidlets at playgroup (except for Boof - the two of them beat each other up :lol: ) so it is nice to have a change with little X. He is very content to just be.

I'm sure it'll all change - but at the moment I am really starting to enjoy it all.

Hoi People - Well as some of you know, I have just got back from an amazing kid free weekend to Sydney. All a surprise by my DH. Was awesome and the weather was lovely. All good, but when we arrived home last night, both kids were vommitting. DH was quite concerned about J, so he took him ot the doctors and it looks like he might be an asthmatic.
I am having a lot of trouble with the computer tinight, so will post again tomorrow.
