Oh dear I really need to catch up. I have been a bad Bbuddie.
Lilima- I hope you can see someone.
Kaz- Sorry to hear about the sleep probs. DD is now in a toddler bed and she stays in it. Maybe its worth a go with J? He might just have really bad feelings about his cot and associate it with crying and waking. Maybe a change in sleep environment might help? :dunno: DD has been sleeping with a pillow for a long time now. She loves her pillow and I think it helps her. I know I cant sleep without one. You can get toddler pillows but I just got the thinest pillow from Kmart. Think it was $5.00.
Malyna- That is good you are spending some time on you at the gym. SO important and will help with energy levels and good endorphins running through your body.
OP- Sounds like you are doing it tough with Miss I at the moment. DD cracks massive tantrums at the moment. So bad that it sends our dog off the wall! I mean he starts howling!!!! I dont know what is worse as they set each other off! I really think it is the age. I dont even have another baby to look after soI cant imagine how you are coping. Just dont feel bad shutting the door and walking away. SOmetimes you have to do it so that you can stay in control and save your sanity.
Olive- OMG the dotor told me today that one of the rashes DD has was called salicalyates. They are improving but he didnt tell me it was from food/allergy. Grrr maybe I need to go back. I just looked it up!
Shell- Good luck this weekend with the footy.
Hope all those with sickness/gastro are on the mend.
AFM- Proposal story is in my blog if you click on the link in my sig, it will be the current blog post. I did post on BB the story but it got wiped with the 2 week thingy that happened.
DD's nappy rash improving. No wipes or creams allowed. Only salt water washes and nappy free time.
Had 18mth needle today. Soped quite well esp with a jelly baby afterwards. Weighs 11.5kg and is 81cm tall/short LOL!
Must go do some cleanin whilst DD is asleep.
::grouphug: to all
-
ali im glad DD's rash is improving  must go read your proposal story!!
were all sick here still :( so over it, second week of the school hols and again we're sick,i had to cancel all our playdates for last week and looks like i may have to do the same this week, i hoping not as im meant to be catching up with pinny mum this week :(
-
Hi ladies
Bit of a woohoo for us - DD had a big 3hr nap today, slept quite late so we didn't put her down at 7, instead put her down at 8pm, but she went to sleep without a peep! No getting out of bed, no crying, no calling out. Woo! :leap:
Who knows why?? But here's hoping it continues...
-
OP maybe its all sleep related as im shes overtired :dunno: i hope it continues for you xx
-
Hi Peoples,
I have been under an enormous amount of stress for a few things that I don't go into in here, but there is a thread about it if you want to go read,.
How is everyone? It has been ages since I have managed to get in here.
E seems to have really hit a new set of devt milestones. She is just in to everything. She is so funny on the trampoline, bouncing around! and her level of understanding and language is just enormous.
Shell and Holly - Hope you are feeling ok about today's results.
Nai - What age can you start putting the little ones on a balance bike? was thinking of giving one to E for her 2nd birthday, but is that too young?
2 weeks till we go to Brisbane. YAY. I really need it.
-
olive - I really hope all those illness rack off soon hun. It totally sucks how constant the bugs have been in your place lately!
lilima - glad you have a holiday planned hun.
Shell and Holly - many many
Ali - Will def go and read your story! I can't work out how to comment in your blog though  have tried before apparently without luck. Glad DD's rash is clearing.
OP - Miss I and DS are on the same wavelength!! He has slept through the past two nights :crossfinger: for tonight. He has also had late and long sleeps (after long morning sleeps too) the past couple of days and then is going down later than usual. Tonight he played up for about 45 mins, nothing severe and it's all quiet in there.
Hun I'm reading 'The no cry discipline solution' atm by same woman who wrote 'No cry sleep solution'. It has some great strategies for managing behaviours. A lot of it reads like common sense but I am finding it good to be reminded and there's some new ideas in there too. Just a thought re: Miss I.
AFU - DS had his shots yesterday. The appt was last week but he had a bad cold so we delayed them. No crying but he did give the CFHN a filthy look  She said the reaction might take 7-10 days to appear. He is going well atm. Everyone from the CFHN, my mum, friends and total strangers have been commenting about how "busy" he is. I was getting a bit worried but now I just figure that it's a good thing he has heaps of energy and wants to check everything out. I have noticed that the girls in my mum's group are a bit calmer while DS just tears around the place pushing things and crashing on purpose!!
DP is really sick atm. We don't know what's going on. He's been unwell for weeks and weeks and isn't getting any better. Waiting on tests atm.
-
I hope everyone is ok. It has been so quiet.
E still hasn't had her 18month shots. Must get on to that.
Those of us with 4 yo ( and there is a few) How did the 4yo go with getting their shots?
-
Gotta add - Ali love your new AV
-
:hello: It is quiet in here isn't it!
Ooh...just saw ur new avvy Ali, love it! And lilima yours too, it's new isn't it? I don't think I've seen it before but now I can't remember what your old one was!
Everything going well here. DD now sleeping through 8.30 to 5.30am every night, phew! Not much else to report. She's talking heaps and started doing a lot more pretend play, so cute! Today I found her breastfeeding her teddy, lol.
-
Heaven - that's so cute!
Lilima - The balance bike is good for as soon as they are tall enough to use it. DD1 was on hers from 2.5y - I think we gave it to her when she was 2. With the 4yo immunisations I can highly recommend the Emla patches from the chemist. They are a topical anaesthetic and you put them on the arms where they will get the needle an hour beforehand and they don't feel it at all. My friend who is a GP used them for her DD and got me some for DD1 - I couldn't believe it, she didn't even flinch!
AFU - Miss J is being just awful at dinner time. I can't eat at the table with everyone else otherwise she has a complete meltdown and won't eat a thing! She ended up going to bed last night without any dinner because of this. If I sit down she cries and cries and tries to throw herself out of her chair, demands to sit in my knee and then won't let me eat either. She is doing my head in. I end up eating later once they are in bed so that I can enjoy my food - I also eat breakfast standing in the kitchen. She's not as bad at breakfast though (generally because she is so hungry I guess). I'm not sure what to do :dunno:
-
Hi ladies!
How's everyone going? Just a quick one while DS sleeps and DD is entertained by Dora...
Nai - we had ideas of having 6pm family sit down for dinner at the table once DD began eating our food... this hasn't really gone to plan! She generally ends up on someone's knee, picking off their plate. Or we chase her around trying to shove food into her mouth while she tears around the house... I don't really know what to do either. I'm hoping its a phase???
Heaven - LOL at DD bf her teddy! This morning DD followed me into my room as I got dressed, which always happens in the morning, she played around with the cat and then grabbed one of my breast pads, lifted her top and stuck it on her chest. I was in hysterics
They play closer attention than we realise I think!!!!
Kaz - DD didn't have any reaction to the shots, apart from the standard grizzling etc. Hope DS is still ok. How's his sleep going? We've had some more sleep issues here... sigh! I might need to get some of these books... there was one Heaven recommended too... hmm...
Hi to everyone else!!!
AFU: DD is getting better, we think! I think a lot of it is communication - as she gets more words in her vocab, she is able to communicate with us better and the frustration is easing. She hasn't tried to bite me or anyone else for a long time now and we haven't had a ripsnorter tantrum like we had that one time since then. Woo!
Sleep is still a bit hit and miss but we're getting there I think.
-
Hi girls,
OP- So cute about the brest pad! i would have been laughing too!
Nai- DD is lot like that with her food. Cant get her to sit still for 2 minutes and loves to eat off other peoples plates even though she has exactly the same on her plate. She is getting good with her fork and prefers to use a big fork like us. :wall:
Heaven- Those photos you posted on FB yesterday were stunning and I loved her feeding teddy. You should send that to the ABA!
Kaz- How are you hun? DD didnt have any reaction to the needle apart from an instant redness around the area but I think thats where I was holding her tight. During the 15minutes we had to wait afterwards we had to wait int he waiting room, she was tearing around like a maniac and even going behind the reception counter! Nothing new unfortunately.
Lilima- Love your new avvy!
AFM- nappy rash is still present :( Driving me and DD nuts! Think I should go back to the doctors. It was clearing up really well and the last couple of days it has got worse. :(
-
Ali- Does the nappy rash get worse after CC days? I just ask cause I hear that alot with mums. Hope you find something to sort it out. I loved your engagement story! Just like a scene from a movie or somehting!
OP- Yay on things getting better, these toddlers know what they want and expect us all to understand! Hope the sleep gets better. Even now it can go downhill, Ash who is 4 has started waking crying at night.
Nai- thanks for the tip on the emla patches didn't think of that, we're due for Ash's 4 yr old needles. With the eating wish I had some advice, if you sit right next to her does she still cry and carry on?
Meg- yeah we still gotta get 4yr old shots, they have special day once a month thru the council with showbags and stuff to entertain and distract them, I might do that. Maybe check yr local council.
Kaz- How is sleep going there? Maybe with him being a busier child he finds it hard to relax his mind at night so doesn't sleep as well? Our friends son was just like that, he was and still is into everything can't sit still for a second and it took him til about 2 to start sleeping well.
Hi to everyone else. I will get on here more often now we have our BoB, I was finding life difficult trying to use the internet on my iphone all the time.
-
Hi girls.
Hard to believe our babies are 20 months. Where has the time gone?
Aren't they amazing at this age? The fact they are starting to click on their communication skills. Alex has started standing on a chair next to me and helping me cook dinner - it's messy and a nightmare and cute all at once.
Alex had his first kiss today - he hugged and kissed a little 14mth old girl. His sleep is getting better - for the past few nights, he's been breastfeeding then rolling over and going to sleep, so fingers crossed it continues.

Hi everyone!
Gosh it has been so long since I've read let alone posted...to cut a very long story short....moved back to Perth DD1 broke her arm in 1st week then picked up Scarlet fever from the hospital...back to hospital and then picked up hand foot and mouth...which DD2 then caught too...both very very sick little girls...I averaged about 2 hours sleep a night for about 3 weeks....then we got an offer on our house that we'd just moved back to so we packed up and moved straight back to the house we were in before...and let me say...moving house twice in 4 weeks is INSANE!!!! So all that has pushed me over the edge and I've now been diagnosed with PND...no wonder!@>! Have just started on the meds and hoping to feel alot better soon. Hope to get in here more often now...I've missed BB so much! Will do my best to catch up on everyone's news. Exxx
-
Oh Ellie... big hugs hun... So glad you have gotten some help and I really hope you are starting to feel better. I seriously hope there is no more moving in your near future - that does sound insane!!!!
And your poor DDs, with all those horrible sicknesses. Hope they are over it all soon too!
Malyna - so cute that A had his first kiss! Very sweet - hope you got pics! I know, how fast has the time gone??
Shell - hope Ash is sleeping a little better! How's BoB going? We're thinking about changing over... how was the transition? I've heard you can be left with only dial up while they install?
Ali - how's DD's nappy rash?? I finally checked out your blog, loved the story on there about your engagement! And the dress - woweeee stunning. You are going to look so very gorgeous!
Hope everyone else is going well!
We are pretty good - DD still seems to be generally happy and pleasant most of the time so that's great! Still having the occasional tanty and still a bit rough with DS every now and then but generally there is a reason, like she is hungry or tired. The arsenic hour seems particularly potent ATM and if we miss the times for bath, dinner, bed, she just turns feral. So we are trying very hard to keep the routine at night time - snack at 4.30pm, bath at 5.30pm, dinner at 6pm and bed at 7pm. We're also trying to set her expectations early - around 5.15pm I start telling her what's coming up, as in "it'll be time for bath soon, then we'll have dinner, then we can read some books and then its time for night nappy and bed."
Then I keep doing that, after the bath I say its dinner time and then books, nappy, bed, you get the idea! When we put her down she had started the delaying tactics... She'd say "poo!" so we'd get her up and check her nappy... then she'd say "Moo!" so we'd get her another cup of milk, so now we're onto her, we tell her that she's had a great day, talk about everything she has done, tell her she's had her milk, got a clean nappy, had cuddles from mummy and daddy and now its time for sleeping.
Generally works... its great to have some peace and quiet at bedtime instead of the screaming that we had been having!
She's very cheeky though - one time when the nappy changes were doing our head in, DH told her if she lay still and was a good girl for her nappy change he would get her some cake as a reward... and now sometimes when I'm changing her nappy she'll start wriggling around, then lie still and say "Cake?" Such a cheeky monkey - manipulating us already!!!
-
Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been in here much lately. I can't even remember my last post. DP has been really sick, especially over the past month and today he was diagnosed with cancer. Lymphoma. I am a bit numb but also kind of relieved as weird as that sounds cause it's been hanging over our heads for a couple of weeks and not knowing is worse. He is not even 35 yet, I don't understand how this happens. Anyway, I just wanted to explain my absence in here and let you know whats happening. We're off to Syd tomorrow to have him admitted to hospital and for more tests and hopefully treatment.
-
oh my gosh kaz  massive hugs to you and DP, i hope all goes well in sydney, please keep us informed
-
Kaz- I am shocked for you as well. Huge  I have sent you a PM
-
omg kaz! i am so sorry your DH has to go through this- if it is any help my friend has non-hog lymphoma at 33 and she fought it and is now the proud mummy of a 1 year old totally cured! Her sister-in-law at the same age and two months before her, fought hog lymphoma and is also in remission!!!
hope you guys get a game plan and get some action happening soon!!
xxxx
-
Oh Kaz, I am so sorry. How stressful and frightening for you.
It's great you have a diagnosis - I really hope you can get some further answers in Sydney!
-
Oh my gosh Kaz I'm so sorry to hear that, I can't imagine how you must be feeling
-
 Kaz - I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope everything goes well in Sydney and that he gets some answers and treatment.
My step-father was diagnosed with advanced lymphoma about 12 years ago when he was in his early 50's. He was successfully treated and has been in remission and clear since then. He did make some pretty radical lifestyle changes and went through a lot of natural treatment as well as the radiation.
-
Kaz- Bloody hell what a shock. Please keep us updated, I'll be thinking of you guys. And sending my prayers too. What do the Drs say?
Ellie- How are you going? I hope the meds are starting to help. Alot going on there.
-
Kaz I just saw your post - huge hugs. I have my fingers and toes crossed and will be praying for you all xox
-
-
Kaz- I really hope things are ok.
Just got back from a week away. It was nice to get the break.
I think my kids have contracted the cold sore virus. Anyone know how I should be treating it?
-
Popping in to say hello. E has broken out in hives. So she is out of sorts again. Why oh why do my kids have to be sickk ALL THE TIME
-
Sorry to have been MIA in here guys. The past week and a half has been horrible and scary and really full on. He had every test known to man and started the first cycle of chemo yesterday. Hoping he can be discharged sometime next week. He has been incredibly sick and cannot even pick DS up :(
I appreciate your thoughts and well wishes. Love to you all. xx
-
Oh Kaz, sweetheart I wish there was more I could do. Your DS will understand that something isn't right, don't worry about him.
I'm praying for you guys. I hope DH starts to feel a little bit better soon.
-
Oh Kaz  Please let us know if there is anything we can do. As OP said, your DS will understand that something isn't right - maybe encourage him to snuggle up gently next to Daddy in bed.
-
Kaz-:comfort: I have sent you a PM and I mean every word. Anything I can do at all for you and I am there. It is so awful that your DP and yourself and J have to go through this...even though I know DP is the one who is ill, I can not imagine this being any easier on you. Please know that we are all here and I can help you in whatever way you need. I know the tests are awfl and some of them very scary but just know they are being so thorough and they are going to help him beat this. Lots of  and  for you guys xo
Lilima- hope E is better soon.
-
Kaz- i wish there was something I could do. I really feel for what you are all going thru. Do you have supportive family and friends around you?
Meg- Hope the kids are on the improve. What did you do about the coldsores?
-
Thinking of you and your family Kaz xox
-
Thinking of you Kaz. I really hope that things move along smoothly and he is better soon. Remember to take time out for yourself.
Shell - Turns out J has staph (Impetigo) as well as a middle ear infection, and E has hives as well as the molloscum viris
-
 to you all kaz, i hope DP is feeling better asap, thinking of you all all the time xxxx
lilma wow hun you guys are n the wars  impetigo is very very contagios, i hoep you're all on the mend soon too
AFM been sick here again, colds then more colds  we'll get there soon!
-
Hi everyone...sorry mia as usual...life with a 20 month old and 5 month old is still CRAZY! Just wanted to say 'hi' and send my love to Kaz...thinking of you hun xxx
-
Thanks for your thoughts & prayers guys. I do appreciate it. It has been really hard to tell people but at the same time impossible not to let everyone know what is going on for us too. I think the helpless feeling is part of it. It just sucks. The treatment is nearly as bad as the illness because he has a really aggressive form that has already spread to other organs etc. He started coughing in late July, it has only really been three months and he only stopped work in mid-Sept so it has been really fast. The first chemo cycle has knocked him around a fair bit, he is very tired and can't think straight. I will be making all the major decisions for the next 6 months I think. I miss talking to him :(
Anyway, at least he is now out of hossy, staying with my parents in Syd. I do have supportive family and a couple of friends I am comfortable to talk to and I don't want to take over this thread with my woes!
So, in terms of DS, we had been staying in Sydney for 12 days and DS was pretty much sleeping through, even though he cut two teeth in that time. Then DS and I came home and first night back he wakes three times  and I've already had one wake up tonight! He has weaned which I'm sad about but there's so much going on atm I'm less sad than I would have been otherwise itms? Being in a different environment he stopped asking and now that we're home he's asking again but after nearly 2 weeks there is nothing left. He doesn't seem too distressed so I hope he stops asking soon as it's breaking my heart a little. Oh and my parents managed to introduce him to all manner of evil sugary/junk food while they were minding him for me.......choc milkshake, jelly, salt & vinegar chips, apple flavoured liquorice, pepsi max  hot chips, dessert after dinner every night and the list goes on! Every day I'd get back from the hospital and there was something new they'd discovered that he 'likes'
-
You are not taking over the thread with your woes. It is very serious and you need somewhere to talk. If it helps dd has eaten nearly all those foods, but not cola. It comes from having an older brother. No harm as long as they are not everyday foods.
Ellie-. I hope thingsxare settling for you
Here- J hasza perforated ear drum. E is being a typically challenging 20 month old. Still haven't managed to get them down for their immunisations.
-
Oh  Kaz I wish there was something I could do. Is there anything you need we can help with from far away?
DD got given all sorts of crap by my family when we were on holidays recently too. Don't worry about it, it's not like it's an everyday thing! But so annoying that everyone finds it such a great game to feed them huh?
