Ooh...just saw ur new avvy Ali, love it! And lilima yours too, it's new isn't it? I don't think I've seen it before but now I can't remember what your old one was!
Everything going well here. DD now sleeping through 8.30 to 5.30am every night, phew! Not much else to report. She's talking heaps and started doing a lot more pretend play, so cute! Today I found her breastfeeding her teddy, lol.
Heaven - that's so cute!
Lilima - The balance bike is good for as soon as they are tall enough to use it. DD1 was on hers from 2.5y - I think we gave it to her when she was 2. With the 4yo immunisations I can highly recommend the Emla patches from the chemist. They are a topical anaesthetic and you put them on the arms where they will get the needle an hour beforehand and they don't feel it at all. My friend who is a GP used them for her DD and got me some for DD1 - I couldn't believe it, she didn't even flinch!
AFU - Miss J is being just awful at dinner time. I can't eat at the table with everyone else otherwise she has a complete meltdown and won't eat a thing! She ended up going to bed last night without any dinner because of this. If I sit down she cries and cries and tries to throw herself out of her chair, demands to sit in my knee and then won't let me eat either. She is doing my head in. I end up eating later once they are in bed so that I can enjoy my food - I also eat breakfast standing in the kitchen. She's not as bad at breakfast though (generally because she is so hungry I guess). I'm not sure what to do :dunno:

How's everyone going? Just a quick one while DS sleeps and DD is entertained by Dora...
Nai - we had ideas of having 6pm family sit down for dinner at the table once DD began eating our food... this hasn't really gone to plan! She generally ends up on someone's knee, picking off their plate. Or we chase her around trying to shove food into her mouth while she tears around the house... I don't really know what to do either. I'm hoping its a phase???
Heaven - LOL at DD bf her teddy! This morning DD followed me into my room as I got dressed, which always happens in the morning, she played around with the cat and then grabbed one of my breast pads, lifted her top and stuck it on her chest. I was in hysterics :lol:
They play closer attention than we realise I think!!!!
Kaz - DD didn't have any reaction to the shots, apart from the standard grizzling etc. Hope DS is still ok. How's his sleep going? We've had some more sleep issues here... sigh! I might need to get some of these books... there was one Heaven recommended too... hmm...

AFU: DD is getting better, we think! I think a lot of it is communication - as she gets more words in her vocab, she is able to communicate with us better and the frustration is easing. She hasn't tried to bite me or anyone else for a long time now and we haven't had a ripsnorter tantrum like we had that one time since then. Woo!
Sleep is still a bit hit and miss but we're getting there I think.

OP- So cute about the brest pad! i would have been laughing too!
Nai- DD is lot like that with her food. Cant get her to sit still for 2 minutes and loves to eat off other peoples plates even though she has exactly the same on her plate. She is getting good with her fork and prefers to use a big fork like us. :wall:
Heaven- Those photos you posted on FB yesterday were stunning and I loved her feeding teddy. You should send that to the ABA!
Kaz- How are you hun? DD didnt have any reaction to the needle apart from an instant redness around the area but I think thats where I was holding her tight. During the 15minutes we had to wait afterwards we had to wait int he waiting room, she was tearing around like a maniac and even going behind the reception counter! Nothing new unfortunately.
Lilima- Love your new avvy!
AFM- nappy rash is still present :( Driving me and DD nuts! Think I should go back to the doctors. It was clearing up really well and the last couple of days it has got worse. :(
Ali- Does the nappy rash get worse after CC days? I just ask cause I hear that alot with mums. Hope you find something to sort it out. I loved your engagement story! Just like a scene from a movie or somehting!
OP- Yay on things getting better, these toddlers know what they want and expect us all to understand! Hope the sleep gets better. Even now it can go downhill, Ash who is 4 has started waking crying at night.
Nai- thanks for the tip on the emla patches didn't think of that, we're due for Ash's 4 yr old needles. With the eating wish I had some advice, if you sit right next to her does she still cry and carry on?
Meg- yeah we still gotta get 4yr old shots, they have special day once a month thru the council with showbags and stuff to entertain and distract them, I might do that. Maybe check yr local council.
Kaz- How is sleep going there? Maybe with him being a busier child he finds it hard to relax his mind at night so doesn't sleep as well? Our friends son was just like that, he was and still is into everything can't sit still for a second and it took him til about 2 to start sleeping well.

Hard to believe our babies are 20 months. Where has the time gone?
Aren't they amazing at this age? The fact they are starting to click on their communication skills. Alex has started standing on a chair next to me and helping me cook dinner - it's messy and a nightmare and cute all at once.
Alex had his first kiss today - he hugged and kissed a little 14mth old girl. His sleep is getting better - for the past few nights, he's been breastfeeding then rolling over and going to sleep, so fingers crossed it continues.

Gosh it has been so long since I've read let alone posted...to cut a very long story short....moved back to Perth DD1 broke her arm in 1st week then picked up Scarlet fever from the hospital...back to hospital and then picked up hand foot and mouth...which DD2 then caught too...both very very sick little girls...I averaged about 2 hours sleep a night for about 3 weeks....then we got an offer on our house that we'd just moved back to so we packed up and moved straight back to the house we were in before...and let me say...moving house twice in 4 weeks is INSANE!!!! So all that has pushed me over the edge and I've now been diagnosed with PND...no wonder!@>! Have just started on the meds and hoping to feel alot better soon. Hope to get in here more often now...I've missed BB so much! Will do my best to catch up on everyone's news. Exxx
Oh Ellie... big hugs hun... :hug: So glad you have gotten some help and I really hope you are starting to feel better. I seriously hope there is no more moving in your near future - that does sound insane!!!!
And your poor DDs, with all those horrible sicknesses. Hope they are over it all soon too!

Ali - how's DD's nappy rash?? I finally checked out your blog, loved the story on there about your engagement! And the dress - woweeee stunning. You are going to look so very gorgeous!

We are pretty good - DD still seems to be generally happy and pleasant most of the time so that's great! Still having the occasional tanty and still a bit rough with DS every now and then but generally there is a reason, like she is hungry or tired. The arsenic hour seems particularly potent ATM and if we miss the times for bath, dinner, bed, she just turns feral. So we are trying very hard to keep the routine at night time - snack at 4.30pm, bath at 5.30pm, dinner at 6pm and bed at 7pm. We're also trying to set her expectations early - around 5.15pm I start telling her what's coming up, as in "it'll be time for bath soon, then we'll have dinner, then we can read some books and then its time for night nappy and bed."
Then I keep doing that, after the bath I say its dinner time and then books, nappy, bed, you get the idea! When we put her down she had started the delaying tactics... She'd say "poo!" so we'd get her up and check her nappy... then she'd say "Moo!" so we'd get her another cup of milk, so now we're onto her, we tell her that she's had a great day, talk about everything she has done, tell her she's had her milk, got a clean nappy, had cuddles from mummy and daddy and now its time for sleeping.
Generally works... its great to have some peace and quiet at bedtime instead of the screaming that we had been having!
She's very cheeky though - one time when the nappy changes were doing our head in, DH told her if she lay still and was a good girl for her nappy change he would get her some cake as a reward... and now sometimes when I'm changing her nappy she'll start wriggling around, then lie still and say "Cake?" Such a cheeky monkey - manipulating us already!!!
Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been in here much lately. I can't even remember my last post. DP has been really sick, especially over the past month and today he was diagnosed with cancer. Lymphoma. I am a bit numb but also kind of relieved as weird as that sounds cause it's been hanging over our heads for a couple of weeks and not knowing is worse. He is not even 35 yet, I don't understand how this happens. Anyway, I just wanted to explain my absence in here and let you know whats happening. We're off to Syd tomorrow to have him admitted to hospital and for more tests and hopefully treatment.

omg kaz! i am so sorry your DH has to go through this- if it is any help my friend has non-hog lymphoma at 33 and she fought it and is now the proud mummy of a 1 year old totally cured! Her sister-in-law at the same age and two months before her, fought hog lymphoma and is also in remission!!!
hope you guys get a game plan and get some action happening soon!!

:hug: Kaz - I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope everything goes well in Sydney and that he gets some answers and treatment.
My step-father was diagnosed with advanced lymphoma about 12 years ago when he was in his early 50's. He was successfully treated and has been in remission and clear since then. He did make some pretty radical lifestyle changes and went through a lot of natural treatment as well as the radiation.
Kaz- :hug: Bloody hell what a shock. Please keep us updated, I'll be thinking of you guys. And sending my prayers too. What do the Drs say?
Ellie- How are you going? I hope the meds are starting to help. Alot going on there.
