Hey Ladies - just a quickie from me - hehe. Sorry I don't get to post in her as often as I'd like, hopefully I'll get some more time soon.
Congrats first of all to OP and Ellie on your news! So awesome! I must admit to wanting another baby but would have to talk DH into it first. He's adamant that 2 is enough.
As for us we are doing well. Heidi has cut her first tooth in the last couple of days, sleep is changeable! Think I had it too good from 8 weeks to 5 months and then the long stretches of sleep at night stopped. Not too bad though - normally down at 7pmish, sometimes a feed at 10.30/11pmish and then sleeps till 5am.
Elli - I agree with Olive - BF first then solids. experiementing with food is all part of the learning experience.
NZgirl- have been thinking about you, wondering how ur going.
AFM - Alex is teething and we have hayfever, I've got a milk pimple thingie (sorry can't remember the technical term), so we are all the the wars here. Went out for dinner around BILs house, got there at 5.45, left at 8.30 (I basically grabbed alex and just left, coz DH sits there and says "we have to be going soon" for about an hour and won't go), got Alex into bed at 11. Have decided that people can come around to our house for dinner if they want to catch up.
Alex has started to walk along things - chairs, drawers in the kitchen, I'm not ready for him to walk!
Far out Malyna - walking!!! Miss J hasn't even started crawling yet
NZ Girl - Good to hear from you!
We had a good night last night (once the girls actually went to bed that is!) so I am feeling ok today. I am meant to be doing work (haha) but I am procrastinating
Nai - Al maybe doing the sidewalking (occassionally, i might add) but we have no teeth yet, and we are not very chatty (at, ar, daddda muuummmm).. and TBH I wish he wasn't up on his feet...but hey that's life :-D
Today was Emilys first day of being back to her normal self, but still not eating solids exceot for maybe 2-3 mouthfuls sleep has gone to crap, nights she wakes often and is back to having 2 bottles overnight plus all the other wake ups! So very tired here.
Meg- how was work? Are you doing casual shifts at the moment? Are you planning on going back permanantly?
malyna- we rarely go out for dinner. Its too much of a hassle with kids, we do go to mil's cause she does set up porta cot but thats it really. I remember when we just had Ash and BIL would plan dinners and always late like 7pm they have kids of there own (older) but you think they'd remember what its like with young ones.
NZGirl- good to hear from you again, there sleep is always changing isn't it, never know one night to the next what its gonna be like.
Ellie- I always alternate the milk and solids for example early morn bottle then breakfast about 8, bottle bout 10:30ish the lunch couple hours later if that makes sense. Hope the good nights are continuing, I remember how exhausting pregnancy is.
OP- I was thinking about you the other day regarding the stressful scan last time. Do you think you will do the scan again? I didn't bother getting it done with Emily. Good luck with it this time if you are getting it done.
Kaz- thats great the sleep has improved, huge improvement to what you were going thru, you must be feeling alot better at the moment.
Holly- how are you and all the sickness? How did your exam go? You think you went ok? Fingers crossed!
Hey NZGirl - great to hear from you! You sound busy and happy.
Malyna - for the teething - hope it's not to painful for both of you! Walking around things is full on! I wouldn't be ready either, although A obviously is!
Meg - Hope work was ok.
Nai - Are you back at work too (aside from swimming I mean)? Do you work from home?
Shell - Oh that sucks you are still having sleep issues. You are right that you never know what they're going to do one night to the next. J had a more restless night last night (back to his old self) but I can't complain cause so far it's only one night. I hope Em continues to pick up and you start getting more unbroken sleep soon.
Holly - Thought of you yesterday with the exam. Hope it all went ok!
Ali - Been thinking of you and DP a lot lately darl. Hope all is well with you guys. Did A's rash clear up?
AFM - Got the PiL coming to stay for the weekend. DP has gone to work for the morning so even though it's the weekend, still feels like mid-week in terms of looking after J. After all the talk of babies moving I bought J a moving toy today to try and entice some movement!! He hates tummy time still and will roll exactly once to get onto his back He will reach for stuff but has amazing balance and hardly ever falls towards the toy he wants. If he can't get it, he'll just sit there and crack it til someone helps him
I hate summer! I'm so over it already after 2 hot days! How nice was the southerly breeze when it came thru.
Had trick or treaters knock on my door, I was so excited, first time ever, had to find something, ended up with museli bars. I wish we celebrated it here, we're planning on taking Ash next year.
We get trick or treaters every year here Shell. We were actually a bit organised this year for a change.
Meant to say before that I have found the same pattern with J re: food alternating with milk. I started with milk before every meal but it's just naturally progressed to alternating every couple of hours (depending on how long he sleeps etc). I've decided not to stress about it cause he's still having 5-6 milk feeds a day.
Yep Hooooooootttttttt here too! Then a huge storm came through and i had to shut all the windows are the rain was getting in. Boo hoo as the breeze was lovely.
The dog was so scared! Then we lost our internet connection, while I was playing cafe world, so all my good work was ruined.
We only had 2 trick or treaters this year, and I was even organise with lollies! last year we had heaps and I had nothing, so I gave them 50cents each as we had a jar of coins.
I dunno - I think it is a bit annoying actually. I don't mind some kids coming around, but I won't be encouriging mine to do it. I also worry that the food that they get from other people may be either unhygeinic or they have tampered with it in some way.
Warm and humid again here today. But warm enough to dry the washing.
Got a busy week ahead. not much on tomorrow, then Tuesday BBQ at a friends, Wedensday DH and I are going to the Kyneton Cup, Thursday work for a few hours, friday work, then sat off the the beach house till at least the following Tuesday!
Megie, sounds like a great week you've got planned!
Shell and Kaz - thanks, I think I did OK...I know I passed but not with flying colours lol. The statistics and experimental design section always gets me! I am now anxiously waiting for results which are released early next month - scary!
L has cut another tooth - a top tooth! I'm not sure what it's called...one of the front one's between the middle and eye teeth, if that makes sense! So not the 2 middle ones, but one of the ones next to them! 3 teeth already!!
He had vegetable soup for dinner last night and tonight and I think he's reacted to something I put in it as he went all red around his lips. I'm thinking it was the tomato or paprika?? It had potato, tomato, carrot, celery, zucchini, brocoli, mushrooms, parsley and I added small amounts of corriander, cumin seed, paprika and turmeric (also added pasta shells but fished them out so he didn't directly eat any). He has eaten curries on a few occasions so he's used to a bit of extra flavour and spice, but he's never had tomato before. Other than the rashy lips, he seems fine...normal poos!
We've all been sick here, DP still is and L is on the mend. Glad flu season is ending!
Gotta run, hi to everyone - sorry for selfish post! xox
that tooth is callled a lateral incisor holly, id say the reaction may have been tomato, its notorious for reactions in kids with saliclayte (sp) issues, how does he go with avocado??
Kaz, I do work from home but only about 2 hours a week.
AFM - we have been away at a wedding all weekend and Miss J has been sleeping badly. She's also getting a lateral incisor so will have 5 teeth by tomorrow! I am so sleep deprived I feel sick On the bright side she started clapping today so that was cute and we took the girls to the beach. It was J's first time. She loved the water but not to keen on the sand
Hiya, well I hoped it was teething but it wasn't. Last night he didn't go down til 11.30pm and I'm having real trouble at the moment coping with it. I dont' get a break during the day, as he rarely goes into the cot for his naps (he wakes as soonas I put him down).
I've just got back in from gardening, in the dark, desperate to have some time to myself. I really don't know what I'm going to do. I keep hanging in there hoping that one day, I'll be able to get him into his cot and not be so sleep deprived so I can write (which is why I'm not in here much).
No teeth here either, am wondering tho if any are coming cause lately she's been crying in her sleep, not long like a 3 sec cry but quite a few thru the night and been some yuck poo!
Olive- how did soph enjoy her birthday? When Ash turned 3 I was thinking omg shes gonna be seen as a pre schooler now not a toddler anymore!
Nai- I hope you get more sleep its awful. I was like that last week could barely function. And its not so easy to rest in the day with a 3 yr old to entertain.
Holly- Yay, glad it went well, you might surprise yourself and get a HD! You should be proud doing it with being unwell and having a baby and trying to fit in all the study.
Meg- going away to the beach house will be nice! I'm jealous.
Not overally impressed with Df at the moment, he went out sat night as usual got home via a police car, he wasn't arrested or anything he is bit vague on details but alcohol involved. Then he decided to wake up sun morn and start drinking again at like 10am! His idea to get over a hang over to drink a couple but the couple turned into 7. Grrr
