Hi all,
Shell - The free play at the gym here is Gisborne goes from 10am till 1pm every Friday except the school hols. It is just so much fun!
Miss E still ususally goes 1 sleep cycle, then if I managed to resettle her, she may go another 2 hours!!! The mornings are usually pretty good, but it slowly gets shorter from there. She does about 2 hours in the morning, then maybe another 1 hour sleeo, then a 40 min sleep, then she goes to bed. Bed is between 7pm and 8pm, depending on the time of the last sleep. Then she usually wakes at about 3am for a feed, and goes back to bed tillabout 8am. Sometimes she sleeps through till about 6am, then wil lgo back down till 10am, but for the most part it is 3am.
Thanks everyone for asking about the playventre. J had a ball. Just what he needed in this wet weather.
Holly - I will be thinking of you tomorrow at the ENT. I really hope thatyou get some answers.
Mhami - Seems like July will be MEGA busy for you. Then there will be packing up a house! We moved when J was 10 months, and that included buying and selling. It can be a bit stressful, but well worth it if you get a hosue that suits your needs much better.
Tarkine - I agree, you shoul be gettinga big discount on the pram by now. You have been so patient. I would have told them to stick it by now.
Det - Glad solids went well. I think I am going to go with raffety's too when E starts solids.
I jsut have to say that I never spell check my posts. I hope everyone doesn't think that I am a really terrible speller. I am just too lazy and usually typing with either a baby on the boob, or a toddler demanding something!!! (or like now - lying in bed!)
OK - so my mother group it seems that every baby sleps through except Emilia, which i find strange as that is so not the case in here. I wonder how many are telling the actual truth in Mother Group. So how is everyone's nights going? How many are doing the sleep through? E prob sleeps through about 3 times a week, other than that she is up for 1 feed.
Take care all

Hi all,
Just a quick post before going to bed.
Meg- We don't sleep through here. Lewis is up at least once a night but usually twice we get a 5-6 hour block then a four hour usually. I have a hunch that maybe they are not all telling the truth!!!
Shell- Lewis is getting really good a self settling into the next sleep cycle, but if we are out or in the car he will usually only do the one cycle, for e.g this morning he woke at 7am back down at 8am slept for 2hours 15mins then up for 1 hour and back down for 1.5hours, then we went to my mum's so he only slept for 40 mins there.
hi to everybody else will try to pop in tomorrow.
Lewis hasn't been himself today, cries when other people hold him, not sure what that is about???
-
Shell- i get her through 2nd sleep cycles by not getting her put of the cot, just rolling her onto her side and patting her and putting her dummy in. Getting all my tips from a great book called 'baby Bliss' by Jo Ryan. Thanks for the tip about getting the eucolyptus. will do that tomorrow as she stil isnt better.
Kaz- Might be coming out your way if DP can book this weekend. Would love to catch up if you guys around on the weekend. Will let you know.
Mhami- Ash did 3 massive poos as well today!
Rainy- Is the mastitis gone? We put DD in the jolly jumper on the weekend and she loved it!!
Megie- my typos are so bad dont worry. everyone understands. esp me as I am so bad with it. I think the mums at mums group are lying to you. DD still wakes 3-4 times a night.Deep sleep is 7-mdnight, light sleep from midnihgt until 7am.
Holly- thinking of you tomorrow. I hope thye can help L and that is not to tough on either of you
Det- are you going to do solids every day? Thanks for the tips on the good ones to buy, will keep it in mind as have no idea!
Nai- Teething! OMG! Our little J is jumping through the milestones! How exciting!
Tarkine- Anything by Jodi Picoult. My sisters Keeper is a great book by her about to be made into a movie. Tear jerker but couldnt put it down.
:hello: to everyone else.
Hope all is well. Will be back tomorrow to tell you what is going on in my world.

hey lovely ladies
still going through the house trying to clean up lol- how much of my hair am i cleaning up around this joint - man!!
boof was so funny with his food today- gave him so more rice cereal around 2pm today and after 3/4 of it- he fell asleep eating it lol- it buggered him out- mind you he was still eating with his eyes shut
at dinner time i gave him a boobie feed just before we ate and put him in the high chair as per usual with some toys to play with- well now that he has had food twice- he wants it all the time! Carried on with his mouth open demanding food until we fed him. Then he proceed to eat 1/4 of a mashed avocado mixed with rice cereal and b/milk. He tanked it all down and wanted more so he had even more rice cereal - all up it was around 10 teaspoons dry rice cereal and 100mls b/m!! So much for the theory of introducing 1-2 teaspoons to start with. After he ate, he then went on the boob again for another feed and didnt get off it until midnite! Something tells me we have just hit another growth spurt- always seems to happen right on the month! He is 5 months Monday!
Madeline- what are you writing your book about? GLuck looking at houses- any luck yet?LOL at the poop - they are the ones that i used to offer my hubby that i would do favours for if he changed them for me lol- it never worked
Pinny mum- during the day boof doesnt sleep for long- unless i pull up a piece of couch and he sleeps on me - other than that he naps through the day, but sleeps solidly from around midnite through to morning- so that aint too bad. Last nite he slept from 12am till 8am- and so did I - except cause i slept so long i woke with a migrane grrrr
Holly- good luck tommorow at the RCH- if you appointment is 5pm- be prepared for a big wait- by then they will be soo far behind- take something to eat and drink as well for yourself. The RCH is the best place for kids - they are awesome- DS1 is a long term patient there- had 5 ops and quite a few admissions for various things- the miracle factory i call it!
Megan- they are full of crap ( excuse the french) if they say they are all sleeping through! I guarantee if you probe them more that they will admit that they sleep through once in a while- why do they have to be so competative about sleep - grrrr!!! That is why i gave up my first mothers group- tell them to keep it real !!!!!!
Hey OP- are you still gonna bring muffins on tues- dont stress if you are not- just wanna plan food etc. thinking of something i can offer that is dairy free for Jane. MIL is making a cheesecake and working out what else to have.
tarkine- knew he was ready as he was starting to try and grab anything we were eating, watching us eat all the time and showing interest in food, and he could thrust his tongue back to swallow as well. The last one is important as otherwise they wont swallow the food, just sorta gurgle it in their mouths- Boof just downs it- doesnt matter how sloppy or chunky- down it goes no probs lol- he is a tank. Also he is a big boy- so he can handle it!
Was worried about him pooping after all the solids, but did one tonite no probs, even after i had downed 7 panadeine today- another migrane GRRRR!
off to bed now- done enough cleaning for today and the house still is a shambles
home tommorow to clean up more. Hugs and kissed to the rest of you yummy mummies and your geogous babes
mwah girls and nite!

My poor baby's cold is awful this morning. She an hardly breath and coughs like she is joking smetimes. I feel like such a bad mum for letting her get sick. The poor thng. :(
Det- your posts crack me up.
-
Ali- Don't feel like a bad mum, they are bound to get cold/sniffles no matter how much we try to protect them from it. A midwife at the hospital told me that on average a baby will get 10 colds in their first year, not sure if it's a slight extension of the truth, but that's what she told me!! Chin up have you tried the fess to try and thin the mucus might help her breath better!! or even have a shower with her , the steam will help loosen her the muck!!!
-
hi girls
just sitting here watching 'in the night garden'
ali- have you got a vapouriser for her room? they really help. don't feel bad, they all get colds at this time of year, it's inevitable.
i think my mastitis is all gone. i'm still on ABs so i guess we'll see what happens when they run out
det-boof is doing so well on solids! is he a big boy? sounds like he's got a strapping appetite!
megie- i really doubt that all the bubs in your mg are sleeping through.i don't understand sometimes why mothers can't just be honest. if it makes you feel any better, my ds1 didn't sleep through the night till he was 16months old.
shell-jimmy only does 40min catnaps all day long. then he'll do a bigger sleep at night,
holly- best of luck today.
i saw your pics on fb too. leon is absolutely beautiful. was he a big size at birth? he looks like a big boy, like my lewis-he was 10lbs3oz. big boofer!
hi to everyone else, have a great day:)

Hi All - sorry I have been MIA as we went to the beach for the weekend. It was fantastic! We stayed at a friends place while she is away and she has chickens. DD1 was so excited to chase chickens around and collect fresh eggs! While we were away Miss J cut her first tooth - she was terribly cranky Saturday night and wouldn't settle until 9pm. However she slept until 4am and then when she woke at 7.30 I felt in her mouth and there it was! She has been a bit happier since and had a good sleep last night only waking once!
As for her day sleeps it really depends - some days I can only get her to go 45min at a time all day so she gets 4 x 45min sleeps but then other days she can sleep for 2 hours. I don't know why or what the difference is :dunno: If she is in her pram and I am walking her she often sleeps longer. Also if I need to be out of the house by a certain time I can guarantee that she will sleep longer!!
Det - yay on the solids! I will have to check out Rafferty's for when Miss J is ready. I think we used Bellamy's organic rice cereal last time. I hope your migraine is better
Mhami - you will be busy! Good luck on the house front.
Ali - I hope Ash is feeling a bit better today. It's so hard when they are sick :(
-
Thanks for the replies, think I might try bit more to resettle her to sleep longer.
Nai- The weekend away sounded fun, sometimes its great to get away and recharge, hope you're feeling refreshed after it. You said last Thurs you thought a tooth was coming, woohoo!
Ali- Don't feel bad, there is gonna be lots more colds/ virus's/ rash's/ conjunctivitis/ to come, kids get everything, just helps build up there immunity I say. Get it all out the way now and she'll be tough when she is older.
Det- pmsl at falling asleep and still going! Thats great he is doing so well. I hope Emily is better than what Ash was. Ash was such a booby girl she wasn't interested in anything else including solids.
Pinny- How is Lewis today? Maybe he just going thru a 'wonder week' phase? I know they can be funny with others and just want mummies at these stages.
Meg- I agree I don't think they're being totally honest. Mum told me a few weeks ago she watched something on tv and they were saying so many mothers lie about there babies sleeping habits. I feel comfortable telling you guys and close ppl if Emily is crap but alot ppl i just say yeah not bad cause I don't want to hear the whole "well my baby slept thru from 4 weeks" crap.
Gotta do the grocery shopping soon, emily is getting heavy to carry round but if I used a baby trolley Ash wouldn't fit in with the shopping. 2 kids don't really mix with shopping. Migt have to start considering coles on line.
-
I agree 2 kids don't mix with shopping. J will stand on the end of the trolly for me though. I need to keep him contained or he will touch everything. I tend to do 2 smaller shps, or wait till DH is at home (as he is home on weekdays) then I can just take one kidlet, or neither.
Det - Did you get him on video snnoe eating?
Nai - Wow ! Early to get teeth! I think the average for a first tooth is 7 months. That's when J got his first.
Just got back from a gym workout. I am having so much trouble shifting this 5kgs!
-
i was just going to ask when they should get their first tooth- but megie answered it for me :) i can't remember when ds1 got his.
agree that shopping with 2 is super hard work. i hate it! we usually do a big shop on sat mornings with dh, then he calls me on his way home from work everyday and i will tell him what to just pop in and get for dinner that night and milk etc.
-
DD1 got her first tooth at 5 months so I have early teethers  I also do the shopping on days when DD1 is in CC as it's too hard with the two of them.
Megie - only 5kg ;) I have to shift 15 (well 13.6 now)!! I just got back from the gym too and have lost 1.4kg as I started weight watchers this week - thanks Kaz for answering all my questions too - and it seems to be working.
-
I was thinking about weight watchers. But as I live in what is considered Rural Victoria, it is not really offered out here.
-
Megie -you can do it online. I'm not actually going to meetings yet as I have done it before and seeing how I go by myself for a while.
-
Hi girls,
DD still isnt better. The poor thing is worse. SHe can hardly breathe. It turns out I can use dimetapp for her to help unblock her. There is an infant drops one specifically for under 2's and the dose is according to weight. Will give it a whirl tonight and underdose her and see how it goes.
Oh and she hated the Fess little noses. Screamed at me :( Had to put her on the boob to stop her crying.
Dont have a vaporsier but will invest in one next pay. Will do the shower thing tonight to steam up the bathroom a but and see if that helps.
They are just so helpless.
BBL
-
Ali - I hope the dimetapp works for her!
Miss J just had her 4 month check up and vaccinations. I am pleased to say that she is still Little Miss Average and weighed in at 5.81 kg and is 61cm - so on the 50th percentile for both. I guessed that she would be 5.8kg in a previous post so I am feeling pretty chuffed  She didn't even cry for her vaccinations (must be the chunky thighs)
-
Nai- thats fantastic. I cant believe how big A is compared to little J. I think A was 6 point something 3 weeks ago! and she is younger than J! That is good the Vac went well. Dis the MCHN say anything about the tooth?
ETA- after doing some reading on the net about dimetapp I am going to give it a miss. I dont think it will harm her but I dont think it will do any good either.
-
Hi girls, don't have a lot of time but just wanted to post and tell you how awesome Alibaby is!!!
THANKYOU SO MUCH Ali. The Mr. Men are awesome!! I picked them up today and my Mr. Men books that were on order also turned up at the same time. I was doing these ones  around the kitchen LOL. We used them to amuse Mr. J while he had some tummy time earlier. They're so cool. He was laughing his head off. Thanks so much darl! You're so thoughtful
I really hope Ash gets better soon. It must be doing your head in to watch her struggle so much. Have you called your MCHN?? Hopefully the steamy shower works.
Oh - this weekend, we'll be around on Sat but we're going to a 4 year old's b'day party on Sunday. After that, as far as I know, other weekends in July are pretty free at this stage. Really looking forward to meeting you.
Tarkine - I was going to suggest Jodi Picoult books as well! I'm currently reading Handle with Care. All her books that I have read have parenthood/children/family ethical issues as themes.
Shell - Mr. J can sleep longer than 40mins but usually in the morning and middle of the day. 2hours is great and 3hrs is bl00dy fantastic!! I was getting him up too early I think and not trying to resettle because he was grumbly but then I was told that mild grumbling is ok and could be a signal they are trying to put themselves back to sleep. His feeds were getting closer and closer together so now I'm trying to stretch him to 3 hourly feeds so he feeds better and then sleeps longer. That's the theory anyway LOL - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. He was awake for 4 hours straight yesterday so we still have a way to go!
Holly - How did the ENT appt go??? Thinking of you and L.
Hello and :grouphug: to everyone else!!
-
For those into Jodi Picoult I heard they were going to make "my sisters keeper" into a movie. But my sister said she heard they gonna change the ending which would be crap, thats what the whole twist in the book is. I haven't read her others.
Ali- Its horrible to see them sick isn't it. Just try whatever you feel might work and hopefully one of them will. Even try some baby panadol if she seems unhappy.
Nai- Good on her not crying, we have our 4 month check next week, will be interested to see her weight, I think she might be little bigger than J, trying to remember from last week.
Went to friends place this arvo for our weekly coffee/ chat but we both spent alot time trying to get our bubs to sleep and stay asleep!
