Hey Meg, thanks for that. I was really impressed with GKs and have 14 of them so I'm hoping I can work this out!!
You can try to change Es night routine - it might work, but it might not too. Can't do much harm to try. At least she is happy and not screaming. I'm sure it will pass.
-
Kaz - I wil lgive it a try tomorrow.
11 pm and I am still wide awake. I know I wil lbe tired in the morn if I don't got osleep, but I am not tired. Does anyone else feel really tired all day and then when kids go to bed, find you get a second wind? (yes Det I know YOU def do!!!)
-
hey girls - Levi and i just got back from margies with my besties- had an awesome nite as per usual and my man was an absolute angel as usual!
hey kaz
just an idea- make sure Mr J's winkie is tucked down when you put his nappy on- stops the up the back wees
if he is leaking heaps still you can alway put a sanitry pad in his nappy so that soaks up the wee as well and stops him getting wet- plus you can stick the pad where the wee tends to go!
One way to get rid of left over materinty pads lol
Levi can go 12 hours in a huggies sposie no probs
DS1 use to wee heaps as well and use to have to change him heaps overnite as well
Levi is a nite party boy as well meggiemoppit- goes down between 11pm and 12am but then sleeps for a bit of a block- last nite he slept from 12am straight through till 7.30am- whoot about that!
i wonder where he gets his nite energy from lol
twins had curriculum day today and i survived- making a conscious effort to pick my battles better- they are as sick of me yelling as i am at yelling at them. we went out and that makes so much of a difference
i am actually going to go to bed early tonite! gonna head off shortly whoot
although no guarantee of sleep for a bit as - MY MOJO is BACK!!!!! whoot!!!
ok TMI for you guys lol as i crawl back under my rock
nite!!!!
-
Well last night was reasonable - Miss J went down at 7.30, up at 12.30 and 5 then awake at 7.30. I had her in an Aldi sposie and it lasted 12 hours with no change so they seem good. On a bright note DD1 woke up with a dry nappy asking to go to the toilet - yay!
DP got home about 10 and at 10.30 was wanting DTD - needless to say he wasn't successful  My mojo is still MIA and not looking like returning any time soon :(
-
nai  about DP!! ive lost mine too!! we have DTD 3 times but not exactly the most enjoyable 3 times!!
kaz have you got any microfibre?? id pop some of that on top of the bamboo booster as it absorbs faster while the bamboo is slower.
meg millie has her last sleep around 5 ish bath at 6 and bed 6.30/6.45
det glad you survived the kids off all week!! hope you get some good sleep tonight!!
AFM crap night sleep, i couldnt sleep :( i think all up i got 4.5 hrs of broken sleep :( millie was great up twice, sophie awke 4 times ...grrrrrr. so tired today
-
Sounds like here AJP. J was up twice, and E woke at 5. stuck the dummy back in and she is still asleep now. (thats because she goes to sleep so late at niight)
-
Thanks Kaz,I tried that burping technique and sort of worked coz he got the hicups which seemed to settle him.
We had an ok night but woke four hourly so still no big blocks of sleep
AJP- look forward to seeing the burping technique.
We put Lewis in a aldi nappy overnight but don't usually get to try out it's absorbency coz he poos mist feeds anyhow, but last night he was in it from 10pm till 8am and had only done big wees, no leaks though. Although I too can be changing Lewis in the night he sometimes just leaks not sure of the reason and does it in all types of sposies coz that what we use here.
Rainforest- Lewis is getting a bit more common i think, how old is your lewis, i have not shortened it yet but sore we will.
We are going to get family potraits done this afternoon, and Lewis has just scatched his eye:doh:
Better go got to wash my hair too.
-
Forgot to sat Jols hope you get to have a Nanna nap today, is DH home???:D
-
Hey girls - dry night here whoohooo!! Go aldi nappies!
Det - we do point the willy south LOL!! worked that one out before he was a week old! Never thought of using pads but will keep it in mind ta.
AJP - Yeah I have a few microfibre inserts. Will give them a go. Plan to try lots of different combinations because I'd prefer not to use disposables at all if we can help it. Don't you hate it when you can't sleep? I've been doing that too lately - lying awake thinking after a feed
Nai - Whoohoo on your DD1. That's awesome!
AFM - Friends are coming up this afternoon. It was all a bit last minute and we had trouble confirming they were actually, definitely coming but it seems they are so I've spent all morning tidying up, cleaning and cooking lunch. I keep asking myself why I'm bothering because they know we have Jacob and they're good friends and I'm sure they don't expect a tidy or clean house but I couldn't stop myself :wall: DP is out cutting wood so it feels like a weekday :(
-
AJP & Megie, oops I didn't read the instructions properly on the suction thingy! I didn't block the other nostril (duh!) and didn't realise it wouldn't work on an adult  Tried it again on L and it worked a lot better.
Ali, glad you're feeling better. Ouch cold tiles!
Kaz, hope you find a solution with the nappies. L has been wearing BBH fitted with the longer booster folded in half so it's doubled. He has never leaked or wet through to his clothes, although we've only been using them for about 5 days! I change him at every feed though, so every 3 or so hours. I'm constantly checking it - so paranoid he'll get nappy rash from having a wet nappy! He was previously using huggies infant size and rarely leaked through those either. Hope you have a good day with your friends over.
Nai, good to hear you DP wasn't too late and J had a decent night. Lol at DP wanting to dtd - did he have a sook?
Megie, sounds like a good plan for Miss E.
Det, glad you had a good day with the twins. LOL at getting no sleep - I'm sure your DH appreciates it! My DP was wanting to dtd on Wednesday night but I was in no mood - soo tired. He had a bit of a sook and fell asleep! We only sleep in the same bed/room on his days off, the other nights I sleep downstairs with L so we don't disturb him. So I feel a bit bad because we don't spend much time together but whatever, he lasted the whole pregnancy with lack of action so he'll be okay lol.
AJP, that's great that you've got a routine down pat. L's sleeps are based around his feeds really. I'm just demand feeding, but if he's wanting a feed less than 2.5 hours since the last one, I try to hold off until it's been 2.5hours just for the sake of his tummy. He can sleep at any hour of the day/night - nothing is "normal". Wish I had a routine!
Pinny-mum, hope the portraits go well! Poor Lewis!
AFM, L has been doing the screaming in pain thing again. Just totally inconsolable, screaching, comes out of the blue like something is jabbing him - tears and everything! :( If it continues I'm going to take him to emergency. I know a little boy who did the same thing and they found out he had a twisted bowel. It sorted itself out eventually, but the first 2 years of his life he just screamed. L's nose is still the same, can't breathe properly. I spend so much time pulling the skin away (not off!) from his nostril so as to open it up more. It's such a pita. If it weren't for his nose being blocked and his sore tummy, I'm sure we'd have it so easy. It's so hard at the moment, I am JUST coping and I feel so sorry for him. Looking forward to seeing the ENT specialist. L's paed left a message for him on Thursday and said he would hopefully be able to see us on Monday but we still haven't heard back  I really wish we could enjoy these first few months, but I find myself wishing the time away and wanting L to be older so he can be over all these problems :(
Sorry for the depressing post!
-
pinny hope the photos went well, im sure i'll get to see them soon!! no nanna nap for me today!
kaz definatly try the microfibre!!
nai i gave up cloth overnight for millie a while ago! too cold to change during the night, im lazy!! and now that shes not pooing as often i only use one!
hows DP feeling this morinng?
holly poor leon he really has it tough the poor bugger :( i hope the ENT guy can see you ASAP.
im buggered :( hope to get an early night tonight! millie has been asleep for over 2 hours now!
-
whoohoo on the sleep AJP - can you nap now too?
Holly - You poor thing. Have you got supportive people irl? You and L have had such a rough trot so far. It's hard to enjoy them when there are other issues you're dealing with isn't it? I hope you're having a good weekend.
Friends arrived. Are now out driving around the countryside with my DP. J needed to sleep so I didn't go and wanted the break. They know vaguely I had a rough time having J but she still asked about 5 mins into the visit "Did you have a c-section or did you push him out?". I found it so insensitive and didn't know how to respond at all. Quickly changed the subject and now I feel really upset about it but I'm not sure quite why. Do you guys get asked about how you delivered a lot? Seems I get asked all the time. I've started another thread about it because I think I could be over reacting.
-
pinny mum- my lewis is 20 months old and he's gorgeous!
kaz- ikwym about being asked about the birth a lot. when people found out my ds1 was 10lbs3oz they were obsessed with knowing whether i had a c/s or vb.
holly-sorry you're having such a rough trot
-
awww Kaz- hugs hun
people cant mind their own damm business!! I use to get asked Heaps of questions about the twins-esp about their conception! Like it is anyones business. It use to pee me off heaps- esp strangers that thought it was their right to know how my twins were conceived etc. then they would state the most stupidist things like are they identical?- hmm they are b/g- and then they would say so are they IVF- who cares!!!!!
Its funny now just having a singleton- people seem to allready know how he was conceived! DOH
I really think if you could talk to someone about your birth experiences- let it out etc then maybe it would be easier to talk about hun! Maybe even write it down.
I had a really traumatic time after my twins were born- they only had 10% and 20% chance of survival and it took me ages to come to terms with what had happened- it was so much that went on that my body and mind blocked out heaps and it took the medicos and my DH to fill in the gaps for me! I found writing my story down helped me heaps. I actually wrote it down and had it published in a multiple birth Ass. book. My protection was that i did it anon. that was my defense mechanism so that i had control in who i told and who i didnt!
I AM SOO BORED AND CANT BE BOTHERED TODAY- it aint funny
!!!!
grrr
back later 3 screaming kids!!!
-
Kaz- I'm sure they weren't trying to be insensitive, I think its all part questions everyone seems to want to know, like what yr labour was like, are you still breast feeding, I know I have been guilty of asking these things even when it is none of my business. I don't think your over reacting, you still hold feelings about everything you went thru, they prolly don't realise that.
Holly- I really hope things start to sort themselves out, ikwym about wishing the time away, I felt like that when we had a rough time with Emily and its sad to feel like that. I hope the paed fits you in soon you don't want to have to keep going on like this.
Meg- yep thats like me, i'll be tired then get 2nd wind, then have trouble sleeping.
Emily is too good at grabbing, she'll crack the poos cause her dummy is out and when I go look for it its in her hand, gripping on tightly. Lol.
-
shell you want to bunk up together at the meet up in QLD next year??? you too miss Ali?? and anyother feb ladies!!!!!
-
AJP - I don't mind winter in Brisbane! I hate it when the max temperature is 4 degrees during the day and its overcast and a negative wind chill factor off the snowfields. Today was a heatwave.. think it made it to double digits.
Holly - i'd be off to the drs.
Kaz - I don't get many people asking me about the delivery - I tell them that he came out the sunroof because he didn't want to come out. If they ask more questions, I tell him that his heart was faltering and a few times it was so low the machine didn't record it - that shuts them up asking any other questions. I'm pretty offhanded with it, but then I've got a lot of skeletons in my closet that I don't talk to people about... and I don't want to think about the sound of his heart on the monitor, fading away and then getting stronger between contractions.
-
Kaz - it's hard but sometimes people ask without thinking especially if they haven't ever been through it. They are usually sorry if they ask me though as they get the whole graphic details of my rupturing uterus and how the scar burst in theatre when the OB touched it and the fluid all spurted out onto the floor. They generally stop asking questions after that - give them more than they really want and they shut up ;)
Jols - I am a bit the same at the moment. If I dress Miss J after her bath I put her is a sposie as I'm too lazy but DP insists on the clothie however he never gets up to change her during the night.
Holly - I hope Leon is ok. Glad you got the snorter thing sorted! DP didn't sook but he has a tally that he needs to reach before they retest him to make sure he has no swimmers left after the snip. I keep telling him that he can do it himself
AFM - I had a catch up with some old school friends at a pub this afternoon. I have my 20 year reunion later this year so it was a bit freaky! Fun though.
Jols - I am a maybe for the Qld meet so maybe we should think about an apartment or something?
