No self settling of a night here either, during the day she is quiet good and is finally back to sleeping more than 30min at a time (or less) BUT going to bed at night she is a right PITA.. most nights she ends up sitting on my knee while i eat tea as she REFUSES to sleep and screams the house down until she is almost sick, then when i am finished tea we feed to sleep and then she is normally up within the next couple of hours for another feed etc.
If she feeds about 11 she normally goes through til say 5ish but other nights she will only go until 2am etc... she's having 3 meals a day, is VERY gassy and seems to have belly aches, i just don't know what else to try
I only JUST got her to bed at 11:30 tonight she was awake from 9....
Hope everyone had a good w/end, we were away in gippsland catching up with family, very long full on w/end sharing a bed with lil miss Ava who thinks she's 8ft tall....![]()
Hi everyone,
Sorry to be MIA, but things are chaotic here at the moment.
I've just read through everyone's posts. Wow, are little ones have certainly grown.
Glad to hear that most are still giving lots of joy, and some puzzles/challenges to fix.
For us, well, Darcey is absolute pure joy. She is still teeny tiny (or as we say, an Itsy Bitsy Baby). She only weighs 5.4kg, coming up for 6 months on 12th of July. Still has a couple of jumpers in 0000, and pumpkin patch she is still in 0 to 3 months!!!! I can't believe how excited I was today when we put her in a 000 outfit, only to find it didn't fit in the length. Woohoo, my little girl has put on a little bit of weight.
We're on solids, and have been for almost two weeks, a bit like Daytona. Was at lunch one day, and Darcey wanted to be a part of the family banter, she lunged for my fork to try it. She's always DEMANDING that I put a glass to her mouth. So now, we also have cooled boiled water in both a sipper cup and a glass for her to drink from after solids. I say drink very loosely. She's lucky if she gets 5ml each time, but she wants to do what everyone else does. So cute.
She's not yet rolling, hates, hates, hates being on her tummy. But loves to try and sit up. Crazy.
Still sleeping really well through the night. Clingy though, really clingy. I started back at work today, one day per week, which is added to my half a day per week (so now one and half days per week). Really clingy baby at the moment. Can't bear to have me out of the room. The nurse at mother's group said this shouldn't happen until around 7 to 8 months, but it's happening NOW! She is just beautiful. I'm going to go and put some photos up on my husbands facebook page....if you want a look, search for John Villis.
Going to go and try and post now, take care everyone, and I promise to check back in soon.
Take Care,
Petal
How is everyone going, i can't believe that the first bubs of our group are 6mths...
I am so excited DP and i went to the drive in last night and Z slept in the back seat right through the movie, why had i not thought of the drive in before now?
So one of the girls from MG and i are going to go next week, i can see a movie and still be there for Z... woo hoo.
Z has changed HEAPS in the last couple of days, she's a lot happier, she's laughing all the time (especially at Ava dancing) and has been really good at settling during the day.
She's still feeding once or twice a night depending on her last feed but is having 3 meals a day, she's a PIG she loves rice cereal, has fruit or veg for lunch and then veg for tea.
She has tried a milk arrowroot biscuit and gummed it to death.
She is sitting up on her own, for 30sec or longer now and is starting to figure out how to balance herself, we still put a tri-pillow behind her though.
PETAL - Z has seperation anxiety too, has done for a couple of weeks now, if i left a room she SCREAMED and wouldn't even settle for DP, even if she was happy on his knee the minute i was out of site she would go mental.
I have seen your pics and she is so so cute!
Hope everyone else is well, how quickly have the last 6mths gone.
We still have a little teeny pixie size baby here - 4.85kg at today's weigh-in. Have started to add some high calorie supplements to her breastfeeds and solids to see if that helps.
We've had colds all round and poor DD has a snuffly nose and a tickly cough. She's been coping with her first cold quite well and has only been unsettled tonight really.
Going to enrol her in swimming lessons this week!
Short post for me as I'm typing one handed while DD sleeps in my arms!
Hi all, our baby's are growing so fast!!
DS2 is a very happy chilled baby, who actually will sleep during day in bassinet unless what DS1 was like!!! He loves giggling at DS1 and playing with him, DS1 loves him very much.
DS2 has rolled tummy to back and back to tummy but doesn't do either regularly as DS1 tends to roll him!!
Have not started solids yet, will think about that next week, he BF still overnight and is quick to settle, during day he gets so distracted that feeds can be all over the place. Is hard to get to sleep lately at night which is why I am on here now as he is BF and fussing grrr.
We have enrolled in swimming lessons so both boys are starting sat 17th (DS1 went from 6 months to 17 months and of course stopped before DS2 born).
Eluned hope the supplements help.
Petel DS2 trys to sit up more than roll as well, he loves sitting in bumbo watching world go by!!
party of 5 pfft to your mil who thinks thats spoilt!!!
morning ladies!
eluned, I hope the sups workmaybe she is just meant to be tiny!
feeb, your two DS sound adorable together! same with ZF little girlies
Po5, she is spoilt! She has the bestest mummy in the world that will give her and do all these nice things so she goes to sleep warm, happy & peacefullyjacksons straight on the boob when he's tired... if he starts to grizzle and you say "booby" he actually does this tired little giggle thing. boooyyss! if i refuse and try to rock/pat him he just gets more annoyed, but when he finally gets it he does this thing where his eyes roll into the back of his head like it's the best thing in the world...and he's out like a light in 5 minutes. i'm trying to decide whether i'll tell his friends that story for his 18th or 21st birthday baha!
we haven't started solids yet... still. Meep! DH is itching too, but I'm not so much... it means my little man is growing up *sniff
i'm pretty sure Jackson is due to be weighed shortly. i need to ring and find out... knowing me i've probably missed itat his 4 month check up he was 6.8kgs... so i would imagine he's hitting the 7kg mark by now! you should see my biceps *flex* XD i think most of his weight is due to his height, he's quite tall, he has some covering but i can still see his ribs and back bone stick out sometimes which worries me. maybe once he starts solids he'll get some rolly polly baby fat ^^;
Jacks still only rolls from belly to back, BUT yesterday I walked into the lounge just in time to watch him hike himself up on both his hands and kneesHe only held it there for maybe 2 seconds, but that's 2 seconds long enough haha!! He can also sit on his own now. I bought a trolley monster the other day and tested it out at the shops... he LOVES sitting up in the trolley and watching everyone go by, not to mention chewing on the trolley monster!
Feeb, Jackson likes his bumbo too now. I plop him up in it on the bench while i chop things for tea and is keeps him amused for ages! until recently tho he was only able to sit in it for a short period of time because it made him spew. must squish his stomach up.
well i better mosey and clean this house while someone is having his nap
mwah! x
my baby girl is 6mths old today
i can't believe how quickly the time has gone.
She's eating 3 meals a day, basically sleeping through, sitting up on her own, laughing at her big sisters crazy dancing style.
Miss Zara you have given me the most amazing gift, i am so so glad you chose me as your mum, your 1 of a kind and although at times you make me cry, more often than not you make me smile.
Can't wait to get her weighed this week, got to ring the MCHN as i have forgotten what time her appt is on thurs, wonder if all these solids have made a difference... ahhh Miss Piggy Miss Piggy!
How is everyone else going? Hope your all well and the bubba's are happy & healthy.
Am off to MG today then food shopping and K-Mart for the last of the toy sale stuff, we lay-by'd a swing set and slide for the girls for x-mas and Z is getting the fisher price bouncing zebra for her birthday.... we have LOTS of toys from A and it's so hard with 2 of the same but i want her to have some toys of her own that are age appropriate... has anyone else been buying up big at the toy sales, other than the slide etc the girls only have about $100 worth of stuff each.... better keep looking as A's birthday is in Oct then x-mas then Z's.... it's all about quality not quantity this yr though.
I have found bugger all in toy sales I want!!!! AHHHHH I am also trying to find DS2 birthday pressies at same time!!
I got a few things for DS1 in sales for his birthday but so far nothing christmas!!
I dont like the kmart near us so asked my parents to get things for us at one near them, but they will probably keep things and give from them!!! Which I am fine with as they still get them!! Big W was a shambles when I was there on day 2 of sale, too many people narrow aisles so I didnt really look!! I would lilke little people big farm set.
I also want to get DS2 the zebra thing but waiting for target as theres is cheaper than big w!!! Also want the big cuddly elmo that talks!
It is very hard to think of things for DS2 as have all of DS1 stuff here.
I got teh Zebra at K-Mart for $60 i think... and K-mart redeemed themselves for me yesterday when the guy orderd in the VERY LAST crayola set for Ava from another store and i spent 5min in line at lay-by.. YAY
Hello all
Just wondering who, if anbody, has turned their car seat around yet? Had a friend visit today and was shocked when I was saying goodbye that she had her DD (15wks) turned around! Shes quite a big girl, but I was still shocked! She said it was coz it was a pain, coz the straps sat high up, but I had the same problem in my Jeep. So has anybody else turned around yet?
Also is it normal for DD to be drinking less milk nows shes having solids?
Soz for all the questions![]()
Jennie Nope and I wont be for a long time, its much safer for them to be rear facing, the tether strap does loosen to get baby in and out so you dont need to lift over. DS1 was rear facing till 14 months and I only turned him as I was about to get him a new car seat in preparation for DS2.
It is law to be rear facing till 6 months of age in victoria at least.
Baby's do change there feeds around a bit but remember food is fun until there one, milk is still there main nutrition.
Gah! Toy sales, I'm staying away haha, although I'll probably regret it later on closer to xmas time.
Amelia has taken to solids really well. We're on 3 meals a day which include rafferty's banana porridge for breakfast, leftover-whatever-we-had-for-dinner-the-night-before for lunch (today it was cottage pie) and for dinner she has some mashed up veggies. Dietician has advised us to start on the meats already so she gets the protein to help her growth and also to add margarine/butter/oil to her foods. She put on 50grams in 3 days so everyone was happy with that. I feel more comfortable now and am satisfied that she is going to be a wee little lass. It was the weeks of no gains that worried me but she's back on track now. We have a follow up with the dietician again in about a month.
Jennie, IMO 15weeks is way too early unless the baby well and truly exceeds the weight limit on the car seat for rear facing. My DS was rear facing until about 10 months. DD will be rear facing until she is over 8kg (rear facing limit on our seat). At this rate she will be close to 1 before I turn her around.
Yep it is normal for them to drink less milk when they start having solids. Bear in mind that milk is still the main source of nutrition, so offer the milk feed before solids to begin with then over the next few months you'll find the routine shifts around a bit. As they get older, they will naturally want less. Follow her guidanceAnd as long as she is having lots of wet nappies and pooping regularly then she's all good!
Z is still rear facing and will be until atleast 8kg, i am thinking of leaving her facing backwards until 12mths just to save the cash on paying to turn the seat around, then i might just put her in a Maxi Rider.
Does anyone find it strange that the Maxi Rider says from 6mths but when i spoke to the lady at baby bunting she said NO NOT UNTIL 12mths????
Well i am off to see eclipse tonight at the drive in... if all goes to plan, DP isn't happy with me cos i yelled at him last night after a frustrating day with the girls, then when he came to bed and tried to wake me up to DTD and i said NO he got up and went and slept on the couch.. have a feeling he might be late home just to be a PITA so i miss the movie
How is everyone else, Z is getting weighed at 11:30.. will let you all know how she's going.
Eluned - how have you found her with your left overs - do you use milk etc in mash that you have and is she fine with that?
Z is having three meals a day at the moment aswell, rice cereal, fruit for lunch then veg for tea... i was thinking about doing an avocado and steamed chicken spread but thought it's a bit early... she eats like a pig though... rofl.
Hi everyone, I was wondering about when is best to turn the bubs around as well. Maddie is a big bubba but she still fits in her capsule. I dont know what we will do when she outgrows it which will not be too long, maybe another couple weeks - month max I reckon. Can you buy carseats that are both rear facing and then when they are older turn them to forward facing? I would like to keep her rear facing for awhile longer as I have heard it is much safer.
Maddie is only having 2 meals a day atm but she seems to be enjoying her food and has only cut back on her 10pm feed so thinking about fazing this feed out over the next couple of weeks and introducing breakfast. She has been sleeping through from 10.30pm to 7am for nearly two weeks now so I am just scared if I cut that last feed she might start waking early again but fingers crossed she doesnt.
I was trying to get her to have her daytime naps in her cot but we tried for a couple of weeks and there was more unsuccessful days than successful days so I have put her back in her pusher again. She goes off to sleep in there without any drama and 9 times out of 10 I will have to go and wake her after 2.5hrs. Has anyone else had any experiences like this?
Hey everyone, despite all the food she eats Z is ot as big as i thought she would be.... she is now 6.64kg and 66cm long.
Tracehb - you will find most newborn carseats are convertible to be both forward and rear facing, maybe check at the local baby shop, see what suits your car and go from there?
Hope everyone else is well.
