Babies born~July 16th-31st 2010 #1

Must be the week for vaccinations, Hudson had his yesterday too. He was a little champ about it, went bright red & cried for 2 seconds, much like Ted did Quegs. So my 9 week old baby is tipping the scales at 6.9 kgs & 65.5cm long, can you believe it? He is just huge for his age.

Dusty hope you get on top of the thrush soon, I've had a mild dose of it too due to 3 weeks of antibiotics. I used Oral Daktarin gel on my nipples & also rubbed some around bubs mouth. The GP said this is fine, just make sure there are no lumps otherwise bub could choke.

Hope the weather starts to warm up for you southerners soon, i would have loved a longer winter though.

Looks like my mastitis us back again, I can't believe it cause H had been feeding so well. Atleast I know how to get on top of it early this time.

Hi ladies. Just stopping by to say hi. I have a sleeping baby on me so its hard to type. Glad to read everyone seems to be doing well. Things are going well with us, not much to report. Paige is a really easy going baby and I feel so lucky to have her. She has her first cold but thankfully it is a mild one. I have an appt for shots next week but am scared to get them done so we'll see whay happens. My appetite has come back in full force and I feel like I am ALWAYS hungry. Guess I'm making up for lost time lol.

Just popping in for a quick hello. Hope everyone is doing well. Lexie is almost 13wks old can you believe & is sooo chubby. Kel I'm like you, doing a combination of breast & bottle. Rach, hope your mastitis doesn't get too bad this time. Lexie has bad heat rash at the moment (sorry you southerner girls, I know your freezing), and looks terrible. Its already sooo hot up
here, I'd hate to think of what summer will be like.

DH still hasn't got a job, he's doing a course at the moment to get his security licence. The course is full time for two wks, this will be his last wk.

Gotta go, dinner is ready. I will pop back either later tonight or tomorrow.

Leigh, hope DH picks some work up once he finishes the course. How's Lexie's heat rash going? I really don't envy you guys in summer, Brissies are bad enough.

How quickly is the time passing, Hudson is nearly 10 weeks. I was looking back through all the photo's of him thismorning and can't believe how much he has grown/changed and just how quickly.

AFM - off the the dr again this arve for me, a follow up ultrasound yesterday showed inflamation in the area where I had the abcess so I dare say it will be more antibiotics for me. I am so lucky H is such a settled baby and they don't seem to affect him too badly. He has slept on and off all day so far (only waking to feed), the only sleep routine he has is at night.. and he wakes up twice to be fed. I guess maybe the downside of having a big baby? Anyway I envy any of you who have babies that sleep though.

rach - how'd you go at the dr's yesterday? The only routine we have is at night as well. Days just are whatever works.

leigh - hope dh can find some work after the course finishes. It's been miserable weather lately, hasn't it. Ambah has developed a yucky heat rash under her neck today. Poor thing, it looks so sore.

as for us - Ambah has her needles tomorrow. So I'll update tomorrow on her weight etc. She's so long though. She's all arms and legs!

Amy that is such a bugger! I'm sorry you had this set back. Hopefully you are on the mend now and Miss L didn't skip a beat.

Rach I'm sorry you are still struggling with mastitis. Its so not easy I'm sure. Hudson sounds like a delightful bub! Thanks for the advice on Daktarin, we are now all on it.

DD is doing well, just sorting out sleep, feeding and I think we are doing pretty well, she turns 6 weeks on Saturday. She started rolling 2 days ago and did it 3 times yesterday. Its all too fast IMO :)

My injuries are not improving and I'm back on ABs for another uterine infection, which risks us developing thrush again. I have my check up at the hospital next week but I think my wound still has a way to go. I'm tired of being so reliant on DH (he's essentially full time caring for me). My ILs are coming back up from Melbourne next week to help us for a few days as we are struggling and DH can't get any of his work done (he works for himself/academic) due to all the caring/household to take care of. I REALLY hope I'm better in a few weeks so I can take on more, including settling DD. So far my only outings from home have been to the drs, hospital and MACH nurses but I'm now having visitors over to distract me.

oh dusty - I just read your thread about you developing a 4th degree tear. I had no idea it was that bad. You poor thing. Thank goodness your IL's are able to come back and help out a little. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Well, we had Ambah's needles today. Not good. She has just screamed for 1.5 hours!!!!! I'm exhausted. She was really unsettled last night as well, and I only got an hours sleep. She's gone to sleep now, so I might catch some zzzz's while I can.

Rach, gosh you poor thing, are you on antibiotics again? My mum was admitted to hospital for a few days when she had the abcess when I was a baby, you're lucky you can still feed Hudson without it affecting him. Back when I was a bub they told mum to stop breastfeeding. How are your cushie tushies going?

Lexie is 3mths old today, it's gone so fast. My other two kids are waiting patiently for their lunch while I breast feed Lexie, I feel bad making them wait.

Ambah is 4.5kg (only a little thing) and 61cm long. She's woken now and is much happier. I was kinda hoping she'd sleep longer so I could have a rest too. Oh well, maybe tonight lol

Leigh I feel bad making DS1 wait, too. Yesterday he was soooo tired and I had to feed Ted before putting him to bed. He got really ratty and started throwing things around, then was overtired, so wouldn't sleep! Poor love, he has a terrible cold and was waking regularly last night. DH is on night shift tonight, so should be interesting trying to juggle both DS's.....

Ammaki and Rach, hope you are both ok and taking it easy after your respective illnesses. Not a well bunch in here!

All good here. Not much to report, apart from DS1 and I both having colds :cold: DH is going to the AFL Grand Final tomorrow. He barracks for the Pies. He was going to catch the train home Sat night, but I told him not to bother coming home til Sun, as he will be useless Sun morning, win or lose!

Hi Dusty dont know if you got my email address gkdaniel1@dodo.com.au but i am happy for you to contact me and we could catch up sometime as we both live here in Canberra.I can relate to such a horrible tear as i had one with my 2nd son , and it took ages to heal .
The boys had their needles and all is good now, they were a little bit miserable for a few days but are great now. They are smiling a lot now and it is just so cute i love it.
One of my sisters is due in just over 4 weeks , so am looking forward to meeting my new little niece Sienna Lily.

Ambah is back to her normal, happy self. Thank goodness! Yesterday was just awful. Poor thing.

leigh - I usually pack a lunch box for the girls first thing in the morning, for the day. That way, if Ambah is having a rough day and I'm holding her more often, or if I need to feed her when it's the girls lunch time, then they're able to take their lunch out of the fridge and get it themselves. Nina will usually get it for them. I make easy stuff for them, sandwiches, yoghurt, fruit etc.

Queg, hope you have an easy night tonight with both your boys on your own. Hope you get rid of your cold soon.

Kel, glad your boys are back to normal after their needles. Bet they're so cute smiling away.

Jodi, glad Ambah is back to normal too. Great idea on the lunch box, i'm definitely going to start doing that too.

Im not sure how much longer we will be breast feeding unfortunately :(, DD seems to fuss A LOT on the boob now and im not sure why but she gets very frustrated.

Have to book her in for her needles sometime in the next few days, not looking forward to that!!

What a shame Ammaki. DD is about 6 weeks old isn't she? They go through a big growth spurt at that time, and they're usually really fussy. Could be that? Have you recently had a change in your diet, or got your period back? Could be that as well.

She is 2 months on Friday Jodi, im not sure whats going on, might be my milk changing again coming off antibiotics? Im persisting although admittedly she has had a few bottles over the past week, sometimes i just feel empty ITMS. Hopefully things pick up again now im off the antibiotics!

Ammaki, Lexie was starting to fuss on the breast too about a mth ago so I've introduced some formula feeds. I do about the same amount of breast as I do formula feeds throughout the day & tend to do the breastfeeds around the same time each day so my body still knows to keep on
producing it for that time, if that makes sense.

Ammaki DD fussed too when I was on antibiotics (ie last 4 weeks!), also when passing wind. I think they also like to start exhibiting their personalities a bit more ;) I hope things improve for you. Glad you have recovered from your op. Hey a woman in my parents group also had her ap out just after birth. Coincidence perhaps? Good luck with the needles!
Leigh that is stressful I hope DH gets one soon. Wow Lexie is now 3 months! I', really looking forward to that milestone although I shouldn't wish away the newborn days hey.
Jodi, I see pool season has started at your place. Sounds divine!

AFU we have fairy grandma with us and she is doing all the cooking, cleaning, and baby settling, if I expressed I bet she would be wanting to feed her too LOL. Its lovely she and grandpa are getting lots of time with DD.

A question, did any of you have to settle your bub in your arms? DD wont stay asleep unless we get her into a deep sleep in our arms first. Also if she is overtired then she wakes as soon as we put her down. It can be very tiring but we are happy to do it while she is so little.

DD feeds then falls asleep in my arms, or in the bouncer then i transfer her to her cot patting her bum as i put her down. She doesnt really fall asleep on her own yet.

Dr Tal (one of my TTC buddies on here) had a bub a few weeks before me and her appendix burst the other week, apparently its common after giving birth to get appendicitis! Never knew that!!

dusty - when Ambah was first born, she would only go to sleep in dh's arms or on his chest. Now though she'll go to sleep in her bed.

leigh - has dh finished the course now? Fingers crossed he finds a job soon.

Off to get needles in an hour :(

Ambah slept absolutely fantastic last night, 11.5 hours!!!!! DD1 is at preschool today, so it's just me with the 2 little ones. Bliss :)

dusty, I know! I woke up this morning and just presumed it was her usual wake up time (which is 3.30am), but NO! I think it helps that since it's hotter here, we have the air con on in the bedrooms overnight. I know that helps the 2 older girls sleep longer as well.

L cried for 30 seconds then mummy picked her back up & she was fine, think its getting to her now tho shes had a few whinges! Ive never heard her cry the way she did tho, poor baby!!!

OK i spoke too soon, my poor bubba is hysterical! Lucky the nurse gave us a kids panadol, havent given her any yet tho :(

ammaki - Ambah did the same. I ended up having to give her panadol as I couldn't settle her. It only took about 20 min and she went to sleep, and slept for 4 hours that day. Hope L settles soon for you.

Kailey was hysterical for about 30 mins afterwards, her crying was heard all over the medical centre. I had to give her panadol to calm her down and she slept for about 6 hours.

She puts herself to sleep, i have a chair that is hers. it has a blanket on it and when she starts showing signs of being tired i put her on her belly put a blanket over her put her dummy in her mouth and walk away within 5 mins shes asleep and can be up to 5 hours.

She is also still in size 0000 who elses bubba is still small? i think shes coming up to a growth spurt she is eating 180mls every 4 hours :o and sleeping quite a bit now.

She was fine for about 4 hours then just cracked it and was hysterical, DP had a shower with her and got her to sleep then i took over and she slept for a few hours then woke at 6:30pm in hysterics again so i gave her a little panadol and a feed and she went back to sleep. If the panadol knocks her out should i wake her for feeds or let her sleep? I dont think shes fed enough this afternoon IMO

Have you done dream feeds? When kailey has been sleeping for a while and i dont want to disturb her i pick her up gently and then give her a bottle. She drinks it and stays asleep.

No never tried that! Might see if she wakes and if not will give that a go! Wonder if it works the same with breast feeding? Ive been told bubs have to work harder when BFing so will be interesting to see! Thanks KM

yeah, dream feed should work fine with b/f. It's up to you, but see how she sleeps before trying the dream feed.

Ambah is in 000, but is starting to get too long for them. She's tiny in weight, but really long.

Ammaki, did yountry the dream feed? Hope Laila slept well for you.

KM, I have Lexie in 000 but some 0000 still fit her & some of the 000 are too big, due to different brands etc.

I'm really tired this morning, even though I had around 7 hrs sleep. Wish I could go back to sleep but all the kids will start getting up soon. It's usually a toss up between Lexie & DD2 that are up first. DD1 loves to sleep in, she's always been a good sleeper, even as a baby she'd sleep in til 9am, wish Lexie & DD2 would too.
