ss_storm - wtg hayley! sounds like she's having good fun cruising! soon nothing will be safe! :lol: and yay on another tooth! hope her sleep improves for you soon though. hayley's birthday presents sound awesome.

heva - that is so cute with your DS & the dummy! i think it is an awareness of you having a mouth as well. and great news that you're feeling more relaxed with your DF back at work.

jas - arlea sounds like a gorgeous & clever little diva! is she still showing off her standing? and how does she go getting down again? corey has had some great bruises on his bum from sudden drops from the standing position :lol:

ryatha - it's great to hear from you :) i can imagine how busy you must be with work...how is fred sleeping? i saw your fb status (maybe last week?) with the awesome night...hope they're continuing for you

leckert - and good to hear from you too! we've been missing our baby buddies! that sounds like a good trick with the toy in the cot at night.

hi to everyone i've missed! i was hoping miss e & lotus flower might have popped in cos it looks like their LOs might be walking from their fb statuses....so exciting!

afu, ummm...maybe not the best day for me to post :lol: the whole sleeping thing is overshadowing everything today & i'm feeling verrrry sorry for myself! apart from sleep though, everything is going well - i've noticed such a change in how corey eats in the last month, so much more proficient in chewing etc. i also finally got around to getting him a cup with a straw & he loves it. so nice not to have to hold his water for him & try & guess when he might be thirsty!! swimming lessons are still going well (i love them!) and playgroup is good too - in the last couple of weeks corey will actually go off & play with toys/other babies instead of always being attached to me :)

Sarah, sorry to hear that sleep is getting you down. It's amazing how much of an impact their sleeping habits have on our moods isn't it (well probably not actually), I find that if Ash is sleeping badly I feel like nothing is going right, but if he has a couple of good naps then I think it's been a great day. I know what you mean with the chewing, I've also noticed the same thing with Ash.

Heva I love the dummy story! So cute! I think it definately shows an awareness that you have a mouth as well, he was probably thinking this is so good mum you have to give it a try. Sometimes Ash will do the same thing with food, he loves to feed me! Glad to hear you and Isaac are getting a bit of time to yourselves again, I hope your DF is enjoying the new job and it all works out well for the three of you.

Storm, Wow you're super organised! I haven't even started thinking about birthday gifts yet, but should get onto it cos it really isn't that far away is it... I love the idea of a swing set, I know Ash loves to go on the swing at the park so she's probably not too young for it. Just wish we had the space for one.

Fleur I know what you mean with the tantrums, Ash is really starting to assert himself now. He loves to climb the stairs, so he will stand at the gate trying to climb it and crying until I come over and open it for him, then he has a little excited jump.

Ryatha, great to hear from you, I've missed hearing about Fred.

Leckert, love your seahorse trick, how clever, I might have to give something like that a try with Ash.

AFU all is going pretty well. We did have a bit of a grumpy week last week though, but I think there is a wonder week at 44 weeks so it was probably that. About a week ago Ash took his first steps. He was holding on to my hands (barely) and walking so I let go and he kept going, he didn't realise until he'd taken about 4 steps and DH and I were clapping, but then he freaked out and sat straight down. Since then he's been a bit reluctant to walk holding onto my hands, but is cruising everywhere he possibly can and pushing his little walker thingy around to get where he wants to go. I think he is ready physically, but not mentally iykwim? Oh well, he'll be walking for the rest of his life so there's no rush.

Woops we nearly fell onto the third page!

Had a sort of good night with Hayley last night..she didn't wake up until 11pm! Oh well..at least it's an improvement on waking up only an hour later. I was on tenterhooks all night though not wanting to do anything that might wake her, but then she goes and wakes me up 30 mins after I've gone to sleep! DF keeps going on at me about not letting her sleep in our bed, but I don't want to be getting up 5 or 6 times during the night to her. At least if she's in our bed she'll sleep through to about 5am and then squirm around until I get sick of it and give her a bottle, then she'll go back to sleep for an hour or two. I just don't think he understands how frustrating it is to be woken up during the night, every night, as he would sleep through if a bomb went off underneath him.

She is standing up on EVERYTHING! and is cruising the lounge chair, not sure if I said that in my last post but I can't be bothered going to check :lol:
She can say mum, dad and bub, and something that sounds like "hello" which is pretty cool!

Heather- gotta love them mashing up foods...lol. Hayley does it when she's had enough and just goes *SQUISH*, depending on what she's been eating it can be quite gross and very messy!

Sloane- hope you're feeling a bit more like yourself :) great idea about the straw...I really should get one of those cups for Hayley. She has those "take & toss" sippy cups but doesn't have the strength to tip them up far enough for the water to reach the spout properly.

Miss E- yay Ash! Only seems like yesterday we were all excited about them starting to crawl! Lol.

better go, Hayley is cracking it in her high chair, I think she's had enough lunch!

Just a quick one again from me... we have all been sick for the last week, first with gastro then colds. Pie is on ABs for her chest :( and Panda has the tummy bug, she is the last for that hopefully. I have had the whole week off work and apart from the fact that it's horrible that Pie is sick, I have loved being home with her & it makes me wish I didn't have to work :(
Her affection for our bed seems to have deepened this week, too ;)

Sloane :hug: hope things are a bit better for you? No wonder you're feeling a bit tired of being tired :p All I can say is this too will pass :hug: - and it IS true.
MissE woot! Walking..oh my gosh doesn't that make it seem like they are REALLY growing up. What walker do you have for Ash? I got a sore back from holding Pie's hands so I bought her a walker thing but it is too light, she had a couple of stacks with it & now refuses to use it. But it converts to a ride-on & she's pretty happy to sit on that.

Storm, :hug: hopefully you have another good night! We have Pie in our bed a LOT atm,otherwise I'd be going nuts. And I am the only one waking here too, my DH is the same I have no idea how he can sleep through it sometimes. it peeves me cause I think if I ever did want to have a night where he would get up to her...well, it wouldn't happen, cause he wouldn't hear her. But that's life I guess.

I dont have time for a proper post but I wanted to say I hope everyone and thier bubba's are feeling well and your all getting some better sleep, must be an age thing I reckon. I think were just sarting to come out of the other side of it finally (took a couple of months but night times are getting soo much better)
Isaac's pullng himself up on everything and anything.. How long did it take your LO's to work out to stick out thier bum? Isaac just falls flat on his back/ head still so we have to be there to catch him if he falls. It's exhausting lol.

DF quit his job as the pay was no where near as good as they promised and they had told him quite a few lies or omitted some fairly important stuff. SO we're back to square one on that front. :( At least I had a couple of days break I guess lol.

ss_storm - yikes, i can't believe we nearly dropped to the 3rd page!! since these babies got more mobile, we've all been a lot quieter!! how's hayley sleeping? sounds like her talking is really coming along, which must be so awesome! i can't remember if i said in your thread, but i'm the only one that gets up too - for us it's a combination of DP being the one working & also corey will only settle for me at night time at the moment. which is hopefully just a phase!!

fleur - :hug: hope everyone in your house is feeling lots better & you've seen your last lot of vomit for a while!

heva - that's horrible about your DF's job. can't believe some employers can be so dodgey! i hope something better comes along soon. sounds like isaac is enjoying his new skills! corey never really fell backwards much - mostly he just stood there & yelled till someone helped him down. i would help lower him the same way he'd sit to try and avoid just doing it for him - i read somewhere that it's good to do it that way. who knows! he worked it out after a few weeks though & his frustration levels dropped alot!

i thought i was going to have to work but i think we';ve worked out a way to at least delay it a bit.

Sloane- that's good you don't have to go back to work just yet. Hayley is like Corey, just stands there and yells until i get her down! She sometimes gets down from the lounge, kind of sticks her bum up in the air and stretches her arms down to the floor then wriggles her feet back until she's on the ground!

Hayley isn't sleeping any better, and her day sleeps are getting worse too. I think she might be trying to go to one sleep a day, she only had one sleep yesterday and slept for 2 hours, so maybe i shouldn't try putting her down for a morning sleep. but then I don't know if she'll just be really overtired by the end of the day :dunno:
Last night she went to bed at 7.30 but was awake from 8.30 to 10.30 crying..I went to bed then and brought her with me cause I'd had enough and nothing was working to stop her crying! I was home alone too, DF was out at a truck crash.

I ordered an amberbebe teething necklace this morning so hopefully that will help. Might make an appointment to see the childhood nurse too and see if she has any ideas.

Heva- that really sucks about your DF's job! hope he can find something with a decent employer soon. Maybe lots of trips to the park for you and Isaac in the meantime? Lol

I won't attempt personals as it seems so long since I've been on, and our internet is really slow atm. It seems like everyone's going great guns with the walking and eating etc, but not so much on the sleeping?

ss-Storm - I'm wondering whether Zac's moving to one sleep too - he generally has a cracker sleep in the morning, usually about 3 hours after getting up, but it's about fifteen different flavours of hell to get him to sleep in the afternoon... I wonder whether I should put him down later in the morning, or maybe not let him sleep so long so that he has a sleep in the afternoon... He just can't make it through the day without his afternoon sleep! (neither can I ;) )

It's hard to believe that around one year ago I was finishing up at work and really had no idea what was in store. I'm starting to consider now about going back to work part time and it's kinda freaking me out. We're really fortunate in that I don't have to work at the moment, but I just wonder whether I should, y'know?

We have decided to head 'home' (to Christchurch) for Zac's birthday, so the grandparents are getting quite excited. It will be nice to have a bit of a 'holiday' even though it will probably be freezing!

I hope everyone is well and having good sleeps - it's amazing how what we once would have considered to be a pitiful amount of sleep is now enough to completely rejuvenate us!

Had a couple of woo hoo's today- hayley slept in until 9am so got a lovely sleep in! I put her in bed with me at 5am when she woke up so I couldn't go anywhere but it was still nice, was such a shock to see how late it was! she had woken up at 11pm and didn't go back to sleep until midnight so it had been a late night for me. She also started crawling properly this morning. She's only commando crawled/slid around on her tummy for the last few months, and today she finally decided to get off her tummy and do it properly. Although her legs still really only slide along behind her, I think the floorboards are just too slippery for her!

Cate enjoy your trip to NZ, it will be so nice to share his b'day with family. I know what you mean with how amazing it is that they are nearly one, it was exactly a year ago that I finished up work on Friday. I'm planning on going back part-time but am having a lot of trouble getting a childcare place so it is just a matter of wait and see at the moment, but I am lucky to have a very understanding boss.

Sarah I hope you and Corey are doing a little better this week, it's horrible when it all gets a bit overwhelming :hug:

Heva how is your DF going with the job search, I was sorry to hear that it didn't work out.

AFU there really isn't too much going on. Ash is so close to walking it is ridiculous, a couple of times a day he will take two or three steps, but it is mostly when he wants me to pick him up. If I try and encourage him to walk he just plomps himself down on his bottom. My sister and her 2 DD's are coming to visit it next week. I'm so excited, the live in the US and I haven't seen them since Ash was born so it will be lovely to catch up and for Ash to get to know his cousins. Other than that life is pretty quiet, I keep perservering with the childcare search, but it seems pretty hopeless at the moment. I find it all a bit ridiculous tbh, I've been on the waiting lists since I was 12 weeks pregnant! You'd think by now we would have been offered a place, but there is just such a shortage in our area that it very well could be that we don't get anything till January or beyhond... Anyway better run, hope everyone is doing well :hug:

Miss E- how's Ash going with his walking attempts? Clever little man :) enjoy your sister's visit, it'll be great now that Ash is old enough to interact with his cousins. how old are they?

Heather- any luck with Jesse's job search or is he still driving you mad at home? Lol

I can't believe it is June! Another month and we'll all be reminiscing about that day 12 months ago...lol. I still find it hard to comprehend I have a child, let alone a one year old!
Hayley now has almost three teeth, her first top one popped through a few days ago. I didn't even realise it was coming through! I don't think her 2nd top tooth is that far away either. She has started grinding them though, god it is a horrible sound! And she keeps trying to bite, sometimes in frustration when I'm trying to get her arms through her clothes and sometimes I think she just wants to relieve the pressure in her gums.

I ended up buying a teething necklace for her. I don't know if it is doing a whole lot, but i think she has been a bit happier when her top tooth came through. Her sleep did improve for a couple of days but is back to where it was now. 48 hours after she'd been wearing it she only woke up once at about 3am, and the night after she slept right through. We had gone out for dinner so it may have been because she was exhausted from that and getting to bed late.

DF has put his foot down about her sleeping in our bed so that hasn't helped things the last few nights. Although last night he was out at a job and didn't come home so I put her in bed with me when she woke up at 5am...she was all bright and bubbly and I'm thinking NOOO we are not starting the day this early!! A couple of nights ago (when he said enough is enough) she was awake for 3 hours crying because he wouldn't give her back to me to settle her down and he was going to make her sleep in her cot. Sure, I'd love her to sleep all night in her cot too but I'm not waiting up for 2 or 3 hours everytime she wakes up trying to get her to go back to sleep! She won't be in our bed forever and it doesn't hurt anyone, at least we both aren't tired and cranky the next day. I don't know why he's so hung up on it, he says he wants his bed/me back, but he's normally up until 2 or 3am working and Hayley sleeps on my other side so he can still snuggle up to me if he wants. I hate thinking it, but sometimes I think it would be easier if it was just me & DD because he just doesn't seem to understand why I do what I do, after all he might have stayed up with us for those 3 hours trying to get her back to sleep, but he isn't the one that then has to look after a grumble bum all day.

Her crawling has really taken off, she zooms around everywhere now. I put her outside on a picnic rug today while I was collecting some wood for the fire and she ended up about 10m off the rug in the grass! So I think she has found her adventurous side now! she started saying something that sounds like "duck" yesterday too. I don't know if that's what she's trying to say but it sounds pretty close so that's good enough for me :p

Hows everyone else going?

I think that I am not getting notices either, as I just realised I haven't seen one since I last wrote! I thought no one had responded! Anyway, can't believe that we have almost 1 year olds! Can you believe it! I am having a think about what to get for 1st birthday pressies. Mum and Dad have bought him a Euro trike so am looking forward to using that.
Sam is pulling himself up onto everything, he climbs the whole way up the stairs to his bedroom now and pulls himself up into the toy box, climbs in and can't get out! Also pulling up onto windows, coffee table, you name it! He has taken a few assisted steps and uses his scooter and holds onto the back of it.
Miss E - it sounds like as normal Ash and SAm are doing almost the same thing! They have always been quite similar! Get ready to be extra busy!
Cate - enjoy your time in NZ, we are thinking of going over at Christmas time. Most of my family is there as mum is from there, so we thought perhaps 10 days or so. Is a good flight with a small one too. Enjoy the time with the family!
SS Storm - hope the teething necklace is working. I hope things settle down with bed time. It is hard, when you are the one looking after them all day. It is hard if they come into your bed, but I totally understand about whatever stops them being cranky the next day! It is difficult to not form habits, I have a friend who's 6 year old still comes in each night, but you do what you have to. They are not small for ever and one day won't even want to snuggle up to you anymore!

Looking forward to hearing what everyone is planning for their 1st birthday celebrations! Glad to hear everyone is well! And I will keep reading the last few posts to catch up!

AFU - :tmi: I so don't want to know about birthdays. lol I'm thinking we'll just do a small family lunch thing, but then I've made a couple of new friends lately with kids that I'd like to invite as well. lol I can see the invite list getting very long if i'm not careful. No idea what to do about prezzies either, we're not exactly rich atm so maybe just a couple of toys? Not like he'll remember mummy was stingey on his first birthday anyway... right?? lol OH!OH!OH! and my dad says they may come up from melbourne for a visit over Isaac's birthday! I'm so excited, but I really should controll myself as he still has to get the time off work lol. It'll be so disappointing if he cant come :S

Development wise he's had a busy couple of weeks, he's getting really good at pulling himself up and getting back down from EVERYTHING! He's learnt to climb the stairs and thinks it's histerical when I crawl under the table and play Peek-a-boo with him while he standing at it. ITMS?
He's got six teeth now (well almost).
ETA- He's becoming quite good at standing on his own too. Yesterday he was standing holding onto the Jolly Jumper stand and he just let go and stood there for a good 5 seconds(!) (with his hands up like he was praying lol) before he fell to his knees.

He's also become impossible to change (clothes, nappy, socks, anything!). Even before I put him down he's rolling over and trying to get away, and if I make him stay he cries and screams so much, it sounds like I'm killing him! I often just resort to lying him on the floor and pinning his arms down, just so I can get his flippin' nappy on. NOT fun!

we've gone all quiet again!

Not surprising given the stage our bubs are at - definitely keep us on our toes, huh?

Well, still a few weeks until we go to NZ. I am really looking forward to it, although it will be freezing! Hoping to get Zac's sleeping sorted out before we go too, because at the moment it's very anti-social. We are back to him not being able to get to sleep without high levels of intervention - if he's exhausted he will fall asleep on a feed, but otherwise I need to lie down with him, rock him, etc etc. Some nights he's like the blasted duracell bunny - just keeps going and going! We've had 9pm and 10pm several times, and he's been awake for 5+ hours... :rolleyes: He has also been sleeping most of the night (ie from about midnight onwards) with me, which wouldn't be so bad, but some nights he's very restless, and then last night he fell out of bed :o god I felt so awful. He must have been asleep and very relaxed - he got a fright when he hit the floor, but as soon as I picked him up he pretty much went straight back to sleep!

Poor wee man had a tough day yesterday - doing a lot of adventuring, like all our babies are, and DH wasn't quite quick enough and Zac fell head first off the sofa. Got a big bump on his head, a grazed cheek, and a bit of a bleeding nose. But, how good is Arnica??? You can barely see a bruise today! So DH feels awful, I feel bad... Zac is still rampaging around ;-)

I suppose there will be plenty more bumps and falls to come...

re first birthdays - well, obviously we are heading to NZ, but that will be a very small little celebration - just us, the grandparents, and my sister. We'll have another little one here for DH's sister plus a very close friend. The biggest thing is that our mothers' group is having a combined first birthday party - we're holding it at our community centre, so the babies can play in the playgroup room. We're having a Kris Kringle type of present exchange. Should be great fun and completely chaotic!

heva - that's great news about isaac starting to get the hang of sitting down again - it's so good to knock another frustration out of the way for them! i'm sorry to hear that your DF isn't working yet - i have my :crossfingers: that something comes up really soon. and i hear you on nappy changes....arrrrrgh!!!

lovelycate - your trip to nz sounds like a fab way to celebrate zac's 1st birthday! gosh, it's all coming round so quickly!

ss_storm - how are you guys going with the sleeping arrangements? i know i posted in your other thread, but i really think your DF needs to let you call the shots on this one because you have to deal with the fallout the next day! i know my DP isn't necessarily keen on our sleeping arrangements (now corey is on a single mattress on the floor in his room & i co-sleep from about midnight) but he figures that we do what we need to for me to be able to function the next day!!

afu, corey is over his cold now & has been in the bestest of moods in the last couple of days...it's almost like he's changed again - he chatters almost all day (no idea where he gets that from :lol:) and is turning into the most affectionate baby - he even wants to hug his swimming teacher at the end of the lesson :lol: i am still in denial that our babies are almost 1. what a complete spinout!! this time last year i was lazing around at home, having afternoon naps, on a baking frenzy, staying up late listening to the french open on the radio & sleeping in till 10 or 11..... :o

Have been away for a couple of days visiting my mum & sister & look at all the chat!

Pie is great although she has another cold... I am going to try some olive leaf extract and see if thast helps, she seems to get a LOT.
She is standing alone a lot now, going for longer & longer & she looks around & waits for everyone to clap & cheer :lol: - funny, I haven't seen her do it yet without an audience! She is walking holding just one hand now, building her confidence, so not too far off 'proper' walking. I don't hink she needs to hold anyone's hand but for her own confidence & she is very much doing it at her own pace, all the coaxing from her sister & brothers is in vain :)

First birthday - Panda has a Physie comp on that day so it will take up the entire day, but I am hoping we will have family come along to watch the comp & then we can do something at home that night. Not too sure what to get her, I keep thinking of things & then forgetting them, lol. A baby doll because she likes the ones at FDC.

afu, i cannot believe that it's corey's first birthday in a week. eeeek! this year has just flown past. i've noticed a few more changes in the last week - corey went from just starting to point in general to in the last day or so pointing at specific things. esp at things he wants (like the wii remote!). he's still just taking 1 or 2 steps a day but no walking just yet. um, not sure what else! i've been working on breaking the feed to sleep association & also on trying to resettle during naps until he reaches 1.5 hours to try & help his night sleep. it worked for someone at MG so i figure it's worth a try!

hope everyone else is well, looking forward to hearing lots of news over the next few weeks as they all turn 1!

heading off to see my parents tomorrow, it's normally a 6 hour drive, but first time i'll be doing it by myself with Hayley. WIsh me luck!! Splashed out and bought her a few new toys so hopefully they will keep her entertained for a while. I'm a bit worried so wish me luck!

sloane- oh wow not long until Corey's big day! It's a bit scary to think they are all turning one so soon! Lol at the pointing..Hayley just screeches until she gets what she wants, or I distract her with something else...she is in love with my mobile atm, thankfully it's nothing fancy so doesn't matter if she slobbers all over it or throws it, it still works! I did give her my old phone but of course that's not as good.

Fleur- how cute is Arlea! She is so proud of herself in that video, it's just gorgeous! You can tell she loves her big sister too :)

I'm so excited, Toyworld have Eurotrikes on sale for $129, it says save $30 but the normal price in the store here is $185 so I don't think their math is very good..lol. hopefully I can drag DF down there next week to get her one, and praying they have them in stock! I will be devastated if they don't have any!

We haven't tried the olive leaf, I saw it in a catalogue & it said 'not for children under 2' - but I am wondering about taking it myself & seeing if that helps.
I had her back to the docs this afternoon - temp of 39, another ear infection & sore throat :( poor baby.

Birthday pressies... we bought her a fold out sofa last weekend & cheated & gave it to her early , lol. I also want to get her a baby doll because she loves the FDC ones -in fact she bought one home yesterday! and there was something else I wanted to get her but I have forgotten what, I've been trying to remember for the last two days :rofl:

Isn't that video gorgeous? I'm stoked I got it, I only missed two steps just before I grabbed the camera.
She has taken 2 or 3 step at a time since but no more, not as many as on the video, she's building her confidence at her own pace. And I'm not as devastated as I thought I'd be at her walking, lol.... it was actually pretty exciting :)

Other cute stuff... she is pointing now & babbling a lot, she nods 'yes' and shakes her head 'no'. I think hteh meaning is still a bit fuzzy but it's definitley gettingthere - especially the 'no' - when we try & offer her food she doesn't want, you'd think her head will fall off, lol. And when someone says 'good' she claps & nods - so cute! - so she must have a bit of understanding.
tonight she was going to sleep (in our bed :rolleyes:) and she was grabbing DH's nose & pushing it. I said to him, she's trying to move your head off the pillow ' - and sure enough when he moved, she plopped straight down onto his pillow :p gorgeous.

It's so nice to get all these updates and hear about how all our LO's are growing up. I also can't believe Ash is nearly one, like you Fleur I do feel a bit sad sometimes when I look at him because he really looks like a little boy now rather than a baby iykwim? But then it is so nice to see him growing and developing into this little person who expresses himself and gets excited over things.

Storm, good luck for the long drive! I'm sure it will be nice to see your family, you might even be able to get a bit of a break because I'm sure they'll all be doting over Hayley. I know what you mean with the mobile phone obsession. I found a toy iphone for Ash, but it figured out it wasn't the real thing pretty quickly. But then I put my cover on it and it's tricked him. It's so cute, he plays with it constantly at the moment!

Fleur, I love the story about pushing your DH off the pillow, how cute! Ash is also shaking his head a lot at the moment, but I don't think he gets that it means no, but then sometimes it seems he does. Yesterday I put the radio on and was sort of shaking my head having a bit of boogie and he started doing it too, it was absolutely gorgeous!

Sarah, good luck with the sleep! It sounds like you've got a good plan of attack together so hopefully it will start working for you quickly. I also find that if I can get Ash to have good naps during the day, he does much better at night. If he sleeps for less than an hour I always try and rock him back to sleep, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

Miss Bec I hope you're recovery is going well, sounds like you've been having a bit of a rough time of late :hug:

Well we've had heaps going on here. Ash started walking properly a couple of weeks ago. After weeks and weeks of a couple of steps here and there one day he just started and hasn't looked back. Everyday he seems to crawl less and less and I'm pretty sure that in a couple of weeks it will be a thing of the past :doh:. We've also had my sister and her two DD's over from the states which has been lovely. The girls dote all over Ash and are constantly showering him with kisses and cuddles! And the big news is that we finally got a child care place. It's only one day a week at the moment, but it is the centre that I really wanted so I'm stoked. We start orientation next week. But I have to admit I am wondering how I will go without my little buddy with me... I think he should be okay settling in, he's pretty social and doesn't seem to worry too much about where I am when we go places so I hope he will be okay with it.

We're having a little birthday party for Ash on Sunday, it's a little bit early but I wanted to do it while my sister and the girls are here. We're only doing something small with family, but I can't wait. We've ordered a very cool train cake and a heap of balloons. I've only got him a few small gifts at the moment, a couple of books and and a baby einstein dvd. I really don't know what to get him so I think I might wait and see what else he gets and then decide. I would like to get him a little table and chairs set, but then I wonder if he is still a bit young for it...

Anyway, I better run and empty the dishwasher while Ash is asleep. Great to hear from everyone x

Miss Bec- I hope you are feeling better and Teaghan has settled down, that's terrible about the appendicitis!

Sloane- I just realised that Corey's birthday is the same as Isaac's lol. It's possibly not the first time I've realised this but lately I'm like that guy from 50 first dates with a 10 second memory :rolleyes:.

Fluer- I'll have to look for that video I haven't seen it yet. Sounds really cute though.

The head shaking sounds so cute too!

AFU- we're having a birthday in the park with a bit of a bbq, got a couple of friends coming and some family including my dad :dance: it should be good as long as it doesn't rain! As far as presents go, we've spent way too much lol. We've bought a fold out chair, a dump truck- came in a set with a digger and some tools but we're keeping them until he's a bit older, a glow worm toy that plays music, some mega blocks, an inflatable cylinder with jingly balls inside (which we already gave to him and he LOVES it) and a farm house activity centre thing (which we already gave to him and he seems to like it a lot too). We did get most of it on sale though so it's not *that* bad but we probably should have restrained ourselves a bit more.
Isaac's pretty much at the same point, developmentally, as last time, he's started laughing at nothing ie crawling around the loungeroom he'll stop have a little chuckle to himself and keep going. He laughs every time someone else does too, which makes us laugh even more and then we're all just laughing at each other. Lol. He thinks it's funny when I put things on my head or suck cups onto my face (which he likes to help with), and he likes sharing his food with us...

He's teething again and he's drooling everywhere and quite clingy although I'm not sure if it's his teeth or if he's begining to have a bit of separation anxiety because it's mostly when I leave the room. Probably a bit of both I think.
Are there such things as one year old molars? I think I heard someone refer to then the other day but I'm not sure.

DF is still not working and still doesn't seem to care :wall:

back from our weekend...Hayley surprised me on the way up, she was a really good girl! Only had a bit of a whinge when we got stopped at roadworks for about 15 mins but me saying "hurry up and turn your sign around man!" in funny voices kept her entertained..lol. She also loves The Wiggles, especially their "hot potato" song, made her giggle everytime it came on, so thank god for the wiggles because they cheered her up too! Had to go and buy some different cd's though, the only one we did have was driving me mad!

She had major separation/stranger anxiety all weekend though, so bit of a shame that her grandparents couldn't even hold her! Well, mum got about 5 seconds one night before she burst into tears, and about 5 mins before we left this morning, and my brother got to hold her for a couple of minutes before she leapt back into my arms. Apart from that she hardly wanted anyone to even touch her! She was good though...probably a bit "peopled" out, we saw so many new people over the weekend.

Just gotta unpack everything, and get her off to sleep...

So glad you had a good time, too bad Hayley was so clingy, Isaac's getting to be quite the same, particularly with old people. :lol:

I dont blame her, I love "hot potato" too :D lol

We had Isaac's first swimming lesson on saturday and he LOVED it, even going underwater for the first time didn't phase him. Guess we're gonna have to splash out, no pun intended, and buy him some lessons. (My goodness they're expensive $150 something for 8 weeks :o) but I guess if he enjoys it it's worth it. :)

ss_storm - sounds like you & hayley survived the long car trip ok. it's hard with the sep/stranger anxiety but nice at the same time to know how much they love their mum & dad!

we had such a nice day yesterday - my parents came over in the morning before they headed off to the airport to go on holiday (lucky things!!) & then DP's family came over after work for dinner. we even had his sister & her husband on a video skype call from london. we only had fish & chips & i just did cupcakes as corey's cake but i was absolutely stuffed by the end of the day! i started welling up for no particular reason at one point as well. it was an emotional kind of day but fantastic & happy. today we had morning tea with my MG which was also nice.

okay, better stop my dribbling - think the little man has woken up from his nap.

I wanted to wish all our bubba's very happy birthdays! It's so hard to believe that they're toddlers now isn't it... The last year has just flown by!

Sarah I'm so glad to hear Corey had such a lovely day! I couldn't help but think of you guys because I remember we both shared 1 July as our due dates.

Heva it sounds like Isaac had a lovely time at swimming! It's so much fun isn't it, mind you yours does sound a little pricey FWIW, ours is only $10 per week, mind you it is a direct debit arrangement so we pay all year round but we can use the pool at any time. You're right about the 1 year old mollars, Ash has got his coming through at the moment, they take forever to cut through and he is super drooly!

Storm I'm glad to hear you and Hayley had such a lovely time away.

Well we have had a big couple of weeks around here. We had Ash's birthday party last weekend. We just had family around, but it was lots of fun. We splashed out and got him this very cool train cake. He was so excited blowing the candles out, but then got hysterical when I took it away and started cutting it up. I think he thought it was a toy LOL!

He also started childcare this week. We did an hour of orientation one day and then he had a half day the next day. He was fine when I left, but then they called me a couple of hours to say they thought we should cut it short because he had woken up from his nap very upset and they hadn't been able to cheer him up:cry: Apparently he was fine before he had his nap and went to sleep without a problem, so I guess that is something. But he was terribly upset when I got there and it took me a good 5 minutes to calm him down.

When I got him home I thought he was a little warm and checked his temp and it was around 37.5, but I figured he was probably just getting a cold cos half the bubs in his group had snotty noses. By the next morning his temp was up to 39 and he was hysterical, so I managed to get straight into the doctors and it turns out the poor thing has an ear infection. I feel so horrible for leaving him at childcare when he must've been starting to feel miserable.

So, the last couple of days (and nights) have been pretty tough. He's been in a lot of pain and we've been having to give him panadol and nurofen to keep him comfortable, but this afternoon he did seem to be perking up a little bit... Hopefully he'll ( and we'll) get a good nights sleep tonight and be feeling much better tomorrow. I'm really hoping to go into the childcare centre for a play a couple of times this week before he does his next half day so he can get a bit more comfortable with it iykwim?

Anyway, I think I've rambled on enough for tonight. Hope everyone is well and enjoying seeing their LO's turn one (so exciting!)

I've just been reading back through our old Baby buddies threads (mainly the first one). Amazing to see how far we've all come and how much we've grown with confidence and knowledge. The "OMG I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO" newborn days seem like a totally different world away! Of course I still have those moments, but I feel so much more confident as a parent, and that I'm making the right decisions for my baby (won't be able to call her a baby for much longer!).

I found this list too, seems we have lost a few along the way, but I am so thankful for all of you being there, i really have no one IRL to talk to about all this stuff, so you girls have been my lifesaver, and I doubt I would be the mum I am today if it wasn't for BB and having such a great baby buddies group :grouphug:

I read her birth story again too, the actual baby stuff is a bit blurry, but I think it's a bit funny that I remember the pain afterwards (I couldn't walk properly for about a week!), I had an epi and I remember the pain of that after it was all over, and the odd 'pain' of needing to push. I think that's one of the major things that is putting me off having another baby...but that's another story! I better stop reminiscing and go tidy up...lol

Yep, Zac is ONE YEAR OLD. :clap: He has had four birthday parties, all fairly low key events. The first one was a combined mothers' group first birthday party, which was chaotic and huge fun. Then we had a formal one in NZ for the grandparents and my sister and her family, and an informal one (also in NZ) with some other family that we visited. Topped off by a quiet one in the weekend for Aussie family and friends. Thank goodness he's only one - otherwise he will be expecting four parties every year!

It's been so long that I don't know where to start, and I won't now, or this reply will never get posted!

My EDD was a year ago today :D her birthday's not till next weekend..she was the last of our bellybuddies group to arrive, we have a few one year old's now!

She is getting more confident with her walking, and choosing to walk rather than crawl sometimes now. Not saying much at all, but LOVES her music & dances, she even busts out a few wiggles which is sooo cute.

Work has thrown me a curveball & basically told me I need to do 5 days or nothing - I posted about it in the punching bag room but it's too long to go into here.
I am horribly upset at the idea, I love the age they are at right now & I don't want to miss any of it :( but might not have a choice.

Apart from that...all is good :)

Well, we just got back from trying a different playgroup. I'm not enjoying the one we have been going to, I have to drive there, it always seems so chaotic with kids yelling and running everywhere and poor DD is on the floor praying no one steps on her! So I went to a new one this morning, it's a couple of blocks from our house so a nice walk. It's a lot smaller, about 7 or 8 mums with relatively quiet children! They are all at least 6-7 years older than me but they were really nice and actually talked to me. It does cost money, $2 a week with a yearly rego fee through Playgroups NSW but I think it will be worth it.

In other news....not much is going on! We got Hayley her eurotrike for her bday and she loves it, didn't want to get out of it the first time she went for a ride so then we had to go for a walk down to the park before she would hop off! Will be nice when she works out how to steer it though! MIL made an awesome rubber ducky cake for her as she loves ducks. Everytime I opened the fridge door and she saw it in there she'd start saying "duck duck duck"!
She loves dancing too, everytime she hears the slightest bit of music she starts bouncing up and down and waving her arms! She's started waving hello and goodbye too which is very cute, although at first she would only do it when the person she was waving to had walked away and couldn't see her anymore. She does it pretty much on demand now!

A big happy birthday to our baby's! I can't believe it has gone so fast...

Hi everyone! I wrote a long post this morning and then my computer crashed and I lost it all:wall: By looks of things everyone has been really busy chasing after their toddlers (can you believe they're really toddlers, where has the time gone?).

We've been on the illness merry-go-round for the last month since Ash started child care. It's been one thing after another, we've literally been to the doctor once a week for the last 4 weeks and even went 3 times last week :doh: The poor little thing has pretty much had a permanent cold (all those lovely germs they share there) which has led to 2 ear infections and conjunctivitis. He's on the mend at the moment, but still has a nasty cough which I'm hoping will clear up before he finishes his AB's, otherwise it will be back to the GP...

But on the flip slide, he's really starting to enjoy his time there, which is a huge relief. The carers are saying that you can see that he's having fun now rather than just passing the time and his development is coming along in leaps and bounds now that he's copying the other kids all the time. I've also been enjoying being back at work which is good, even though it's only one day a week I'm there it makes me cherish my time at home with Ash even more which can only be a good thing.

Anyway, gotta run before I burn our dinner. Would love to hear how everyone and their LO's are doing x
