i am hearing everyone on the nappy changes! it is clearly SUCH an inconvenience to have to lie still for a minute when there is so much invesitgating to do :lol: i also sing songs & give him things like tubes of moisturiser to hold while i do the quickest possible change!

a few people from my mother's group have a special toy that is just for nappy change time.

cate - glad to hear zac is all better now. that must have been horrible. hope nigel is ok too.

deb - it's always good to hear from you. i saw your FB post the other day re-sleeping & i can totally relate. hope you're hanging in there okay :hug:

miss e - it must be such a relief to have ash sleeping again! sounds like CC was a good option for you guys :)

ss_storm - hayley sounds like she's been so busy learning lots of new stuff! i love the chattering. it's such a beautiful age they're at...although i think i've said that at every stage :lol:

jetta - i hope you & sam are still enjoyign playgroup! we've just started & it seems like a lot of fun. and all those teeth! sam has been busy!

jessica - good to hear from you. sounds like sophie is going well :)

afu, corey is still going well with the crawling & furniture cruising. thankfully he learnt how to get down from standing which cut out alot of frustration fir him. he stands by himself now, although not for too long! (and has bruises on his bum to show for it :lol:). tooth number 8 is through & his eczema is much better. he still wakes frequently though which is the only downer :lol:

Hi everyone :hello:

Sorry I haven't been in for a while, I was getting a bit too involved with BB and forced myself to take a break. That and I was starting to get a bit down because everyone elses babies seemed to be going great guns and Isaac was, well, not.

In the last month however he's had a developmental explosion. He's learnt to crawl, pull himself up to his knees on furnitire (he's trying very hard to get to his feet but despite using every muscle in his body, he's just not budging lol), he waves hello consistantly and sometimes goodbye, walk when being held up and led, and if I hold him up he can walk while holding his ride on car, eat finger food (when he feels like it / can be bothered :lol:), worked out object permanence, is alot more talkative and I'm sure there's more I missed. It's like a light has switched on in his head.

His sleep has regressed quite a bit but with all that he's learning I'm not really suprised. He's waking 2 or 3 times a night. Hopefully he goes back to sleeping through soon I'm going a bit loopy with lack of sleep and he wakes up at between 4:30 and 5:30 each morning, most days he'll go back to sleep but not always.It's soo draining.
Daysleeps are still quite bad, I have to feed him to sleep for each nap, I try to get him to self settle but he just plays until he's overtired then cries until I pick him up.

I'll try to get in here a bit more often, I find that once I get on the computer I don't get off and time really gets away from me. I'm thinking of limiting my PC time to after Isaac's gone to bed for the night but then of course DF wants all my attention and gets shirty with me for being on the computer. :wall:

DF is jobless at the moment, he's driving me a bit nuts, as much as I love him I don't want him hanging offme all day everyday. I really feel like I have 2 children except one of them is 23 yo. Any suggestions on how I can get him to be a bit more pro-active with getting a job without hurting his feelings? I don't want him to feel like I dont want him around, because I do. I just don't want him around ALL the time. It probably wouldn't bother me so much if he didn't want as much if not more attention than DS. It's like he's constantantly competing with DS. Maybe he's feeling a bit left out IDK. Anyway enough of my problems lol.


How are you and your families going? I'd love a quick update if you feel like it. :)

It's great to have you back Heva and I'm glad Isaac is doing so well. It's amazing how differently they all develop isn't it. There's a little girl in my mothers group who isn't crawling yet, but she started saying mumma and dadda months ago and is already clapping her hands. I think like the rest of us some bubs are more physically inclined while others are develop faster mentally iykwim. But it is so nice to see them learn new tricks!

Sloane it is so much fun to watch them cruising around isn't it! You can just see that they love their new found independence too. Ash is just starting to let go of things and stand for a few seconds before he realises and grabs hold again. It's funny cos he clearly had the strength but just not the confidence.

Storm, hope you and little Hayley are doing well.

And Hi! to all the other mums and bubs, be great to get an update from you guys.

We're tracking along pretty well here. Ash is becoming a bit of a fussy eater which is a PIA. I think I just need to get a bit tougher and not bring out his favourites if he isn't eating. He's also just started saying Mum. He's only got it out a few times, but when he wants me to pick him up he now makes a MMMMMM MMMMMM noise so I think he knows that I'm Mumma which is lovely.

Hi all :)

Miss E, Pie is much the same - she has the strength & I think the balance to stand but not the confidence. She loves to walk around holding our hands but if we let one go she will start looking for something to grab onto.
I hear you on the different development too. Her cousin (yes, BIL is still with us :() has only just started sitting alone, not even close to crawling. But if you tell him to clap hands he will. Pie can clap , but not on command :lol:
Lots of mum & dad noises but I don't think there's any meaning in it - not quite yet ;)

and we have our first tooth! it finally cut through last week and the one next to it is on the way as well. You still can't see it really well but beware of getting your fingers too close to her mouth :lol:

that's about it for us... I had a bit of a meltdown last week but I think it let off a bit of steam, I am feeling a bit better this week. It's just too little time, and never any space! gets to me after a bit. I am really over work too.. meh what are you gonna do? :dunno: gotta work. Should be working now :rofl:

heva - it's great to see you back! i know what you mean about getting too involved. i find myself going through phases of posting frenzies & then taking a back seat for a week or two. how's your DF going? i can see how that might drive you a bit crazy! and it sounds like your DS has had a wonderfully busy month!

fleur - :hug: so glad to hear you're feeling better. sometimes a meltdown can so therapeutic! it's good to get it out there & let people know what's going on...cos we'll never get sick of telling you how much we love ya!

out of nowhere on sunday, corey started clapping. DP & i were eating toasted sandwiches so i gave corey a little bit of toast to munch on. he looked at both of us eating, then looked at his piece of toast & started clapping & couldn't stop smiling. seems like it might be necessary to bounce up & down while clapping as well.

does anyone know when the first molars come through? i have some info around somewhere but i've obviously put it somewhere 'safe' :lol: corey seems to be back in teething overdrive & i had it in my head that the first lot of molars may be teeth 9 & 10. all the others have come through in the standard order, so i'm guessing they might continue that way?

heva - nice to hear from you again. Sounds like Isaac is really making up for lost time!

missE - I suppose it's just a matter of time before they become fussy about what they eat really. I've been quite conscious of not just feeding Zac the foods that I know go down well, but there are days when the temptation to just give him something safe is pretty high!

Fleur - god, I don't know how you do it. It's hard enough just living sometimes without having to share your space with extra people isn't it?

AFU - well, April seems to be our month of crappiness. Hopefully it all ends once the month finishes :pray: We have seriously had enough! ill health all around, car problems (I still don't have my car back 4 weeks after the mechanic sent the tow truck), financial... and it's not just us - my sister- and brother-in-law are having similar problems, so our entire family (all of us that are here in Australia) are really struggling right now.

Zac has five very sharp teeth now, pulls himself up to standing, will stagger a few steps to mummy or daddy (with hands held), makes a lot of noise, but still only commando crawls (it works for him obviously), hasn't worked out how to get into sitting position (except from standing!), and is just the happiest little fellow. In fact, he's what gets us through when everything else is looking black :D

Cate- hope May is a better month for you :( Hayley still only commando crawls too, and it's really starting to annoy me when people keep asking if she is crawling 'properly' yet...my little brother used to crawl with his toes, so ya know whatever works for them! She is quite happy scooting around on her tummy!

Fleur- I keep going to call you Jasp all the time :redface: yay for Arlea's first tooth! They'll probably all fly up now..although Hayley still only has the one and can't feel anymore coming up just yet.

Heva- good to hear from you, Isaac & Hayley seem to be on the same page, she just had a huge week where all of a sudden she took off where before it seemed like she hadn't learnt anything new for a while. Sorry to hear about your DF's job. Can you suggest he see a career's counselor or something to give him a boot up the bum? Hope he finds something soon and is out of your hair!

Miss E- I wouldnt worry too much about Ash being a fussy eater...just keep offering and if he is hungry he will eat it. I think it's supposed to take them a few goes before they decide if they like something or not. Must make it hard for you though, I hate throwing stuff out if Hayley decides she doesn't want to eat and chucks a wobbly.

Sloane- Corey sounds so cute with his clapping antics! He must have been so proud of himself :)

Hayley is really starting to want to stand all the time, still very wobbly though, but loves to bounce up and down, quite violently sometimes! and seems to like doing the yoga position downward dog..LOL. I think she's going to have a bit of a temper too (probably takes after me :redface: ) if we take a toy or something (like the washer when she is in the bath) she starts screeching and throws herself back, same if I close the front door when I go to put her down for a sleep. If we don't go outside and I just shut the door she'll start crying and throwing herself back!

Hi Guys!!!!

It is so much quieter in here, and Miss E I know what you mean, we use to chat all the time! I guess as life gets busier and the kids need more attention, people go back to work!! But it is so great that we do all still continue to catch up! Wow, everyone's babies are growing up so much! I can't believe that so many of you are almost at walking stage!
It sounds like everyone has been going through a lot from colds, sicknesses to feeling down for a bit. I hope that everyone is getting better this month. I have just read through everyone's posts and everyone is doing so well. We should be very proud of ourselves.
SS Storm - Sam sometimes has a bit of a tember too! I think that now they are realising that they do want things or don't want things and they have the ability to make their own mind up. He now screeches if we take something away from him. In the morning for breakfast, if I don't have it ready for him straight away he gets all upset, but now he knows that he has to wait for the toast to pop up or mummy to make the porridge so when I look at him and say excuse me, SAm we do have to wait - he kind of backs off a little!! not every morning though!
Lovelycate- I hope this month is better and things with the car are okay. So many teeth now! Aren't they sharp!! Sam has 7 now - I love his little toothy grins!

Miss E - so glad that things are getting better with sleep. I totally agree with the CC. Sometimes they just need a little push. We just made our bed routine the same - dinner, bath every 2nd night, pj's, turn the night light on, bedtime story, cuddle and then we say goodnight to everyone and the dog. I always let him cry for around 10 minutes and eventually he got it. If he wakes up in the night on the odd occasion he sometimes finds it hard to go back to sleep as because he rarely does it, I think when it does it startles him. So glad to hear that you are getting more sleep though! Well done Ash!
Sloane - wow! Corey is clapping! I try to show Sam how to clap but I dont think he is interested. He hates me holding his hands for too long! Not sure why! Not sure about the molars - I didn't think it was for a while though.

Fleur - hope you are feeling better and feel better after letting off steam. Things get tough sometimes but hang in there!

heva- sorry to hear about your df losing his job. That must be hard and it can be so hard getting a new one. I am probably a really stooge but if my hubby was hanging around and expecting me to look after him as well as Sam, I would be having words! After a few weeks I would say enough is enough! Can you try going out a bit, like to the park and stuff so that he then thinks, well I should do something too? Not sure if that is any good advice at all!

AFM, Sam is doing really well. We are not near you guys with the standing up yet! He bears heaps of weight on his legs when I stand him up but doesn't do it himself yet. Loves crawling, more of commando style still - has to carry something in one hand and use the other one to push himself along! It is quite funny. Bits of toys are everywhere! Babbling and talking lots. When I point out planes or birds in the sky he looks up so Miss E, I agree with you about language. I think they understand so much more than what we think. We are going away tomorrow for 4 days with some friends who don't have kids so that could be interesting!! Sam will be going to the beach so I bought a bucket and spade for him! Should be nice to get away for a few days and hopefully he will settle into a new sleeping place. I feel like I have packed the entire kitchen though!
Gave Sam is flu vaccine a few weeks ago and then freaked out about all these kids getting sick. It is awful, I don't think I would cope if something had happened to him. We ummed and arrhed about getting it done too.
Sam isn't pulling himself up to sitting yet but loves being a poser and lying on his side! Eating cheese, ham and avocado sandwhiches for lunch - stuffs almost the entire quater into his mouth and is pretty much eating what we are just slightly mushed but not much.
Anyway, I think I have rattled on enough!!! Will try to post again soon!

ss-Storm - Hayley sounds like she is developing a strong personality ;-) I suspect our babies are getting closer to the age where we will see some good tantrums!

Sarah - how gorgeous that Corey is clapping! the info I've got on teeth says that the first molars usually arrive between 12-18 months, but maybe since he's doing so well with solids he's decided he needs some better chewing 'equipment'!

AFU - well, one day left of April. I'm holding out hope that tomorrow will herald the beginning of lots of good stuff happening :clap: Things haven't been that bad really for the last week, but they haven't exactly been fantastic either! It's so nice, when everything else seems to be going wrong, to be able to look at my beautiful smiley little boy :-)

Speaking of beautiful smiley little boy - his day sleeps have gone weird again. He's started standing up in his cot and shaking the rails, and just cries and cries. I've been able to feed him to sleep for one day sleep the last couple of days, but that's it - so he has only had one sleep each day! Surely it's too soon for that? I'm hoping that the standing up thing is just a phase he's going through and that he will re-learn how to go to sleep.

Hope Zac's sleeping improves...we've been through a few phases where she would only have one day sleep, for the other one she would either cry or roll around in her cot (and now sit up in her cot/pull herself up on the side) or just chatter away. So it might be another of those 'this too shall pass' things.

We've had trouble with night sleeping the last 4 or so nights...she goes to bed fine at about 7.30 but as soon as I head off to bed she wakes up crying and I haven't been able to get her back to sleep unless I feed her. I've tried not feeding her but she just cries and cries, she'll start falling asleep on me but as soon as I put her in her cot she wakes up and starts crying again. I was up until midnight last night! DF reckons it's teeth, and it's possible I just don't know why she wakes as soon as I go to bed, I do check on her before I go but I didn't think that would wake her up. I just know I couldn't go to sleep until I'd poked my head in and checked she was still breathing. I just get so frustrated that she won't go back to sleep, I'm exhausted and DF just sits in his office...I have yelled at her, I know it doesn't help and I feel so guilty for doing it, but just can't stop it coming out :redface:

Miss E - Thanks. :) I am so relieved when Isaac started crawling lol. I know what you mean about some bubs developing quicker mentally or physically, I was worried because Isaac didn't seem to be doing either lol, apparently he was just saving them all up.

DF ... um, well, we had a big fight yesterday morning because he doesn't want me to talk to anyone about my problems. He thinks I should just come to him with everything and after talking about it that it's all better again, I admitted to him that I think my depression has come back and told him I feel like I'm being emotionally abused (he tries to tell me who/where and when I can see and speak to people, gives me guilt trips if something doesn't go his way etc). I'm feeling quite isolated as I only have one IRL friend in Bris and I'm not "allowed" to see him when DF is not around. If I talk to anyone about anything I have to relay the whole conversation back to DF and if I forget something he gets angry with me and tells me I'm hiding things from him. :rolleyes:
Obviously big trust issues there, none of which are warranted.
He still hasn't got a job and isn't really trying to get one, he's just doing the bare minimum for centrelink so we get the payment and no more (which BTW I think is really wrong but he doesn't seem to care)

Cate - Thanks :) Hooray for May! I know what you mean about Zac getting you through, I feel the same way. Whenever things are crap I hug/ look at my little man and just for a little while the problems dissappear. ♥

SS-storm- I would if I thought he'd go but I told him yesterday he needs to sort out his trust issues towards me (I've never done anything to give him reason not to trust me) and because after 2 years he hasn't gotten even slightly better, I want him to see a councellor. He flat refused and told me that was never going to happen so I doubt very much that he'd see a careers councellor either.
Isaac's the same with standing, he loves it and as soon as he's on his feet he just wants to bounce for ages and look out if you stop, on the upside I'm getting some rather good looking biceps though, lol. I hear you on the temper too, Isaac cracks it almost everytime he doesn't get his way lol I definately think they are begining to assert thier independance.
:hugs:I am the same with the yelling, a while back we went througha patch where Isaac would just scream at me and nothing I did could calm him. It gets soo frustrating and even though you know they dont upset you on purpose,it can get you so angry. I think it's only human to have to release that anger and frustration somewhere and every now and then it gets too much to take and you explode. I'm sure she wont even remember, let alone hold it against you if it gets the better of you now and then. :hug: Maybe your DF stays in his office because he doesn't want to interrupt you? ITMS? I think that's why my DF tends to not intervene when I really wish he would.

Jetta- It's not so much that he does nothing all day, he does do housework and stuff, but he would happily choose to wash the dishes over playing with Isaac. If I go out he has to come too. I just can't get away even for a minute. I have said stuff to him but he takes it as a personal attack rather than a gentle nudge.
I'll be at Sam's 1st b'day in spirit, better keep a close eye on the cake, it's my weekness(well one of many) ;)

AFU - Isaac has had a cold the last day or two and has been waking up every hour or so at night wanting a feed, then he'll have two sucks, crack it because he can't breathe and throw himself around a bit, then go back to sleep.
He's almost learnt how to clap as well (yay!!) he's done it twice in the last couple of days. Apart from those two times he "claps" by holding one hand up and waving at it with the other or he'll hold my thumbs and clap my hands for me.lol.
We were aving trouble getting Isaac to eat because he always wanted to be fed rather than do it himself, but that seems to be going better now so yay!
I'm counting every little yay ATM no matter how tiny. lol

Anyway, enough from me.:rolleyes: I always seem to rabbit on for ages lol. I guess I'm making up for all the talking I dont do IRL. :lol:

Cate, re one day sleep - I would be hoping it's too early! but my two DS's dropped theirs very early so you never know. I would be more inclined to think (and hope!) that it's just a stage.

Honey, I don't think it's very fair of your DH to say to you that you shouldn't talk to anyone else. It's un-realistic of him to expect that talking to him will fix everything. I really think it might be worth you talking to someone, your GP even. You don't necessarily have to tell your DP. IMO we are entitled to a bit of privacy even from our loving partners, you know?
But even if you do decide not to see anyone IRL you know you can come on here & vent :hug:

Storm, don't feel bad, it's soooo normal to have a little melt-down, you know ;)
I have lost count of the number of times I have yelled at my kids, not at Miss Pie yet but I am sure it's only because I have bigger kids to yell at instead :rolleyes:

I don't feel great about it either, actually really crappy but I think we have to remember we're not super-women (although I have been asked where my cape is a couple of times ;)) - it is hard being a mum, and it is hard being a good mum and being responsible for this life, this little person and not just keeping them alive but making sure they grow into nice, well-adjusted people.
We get a manual with our appliances, and when we learn to drive, and instructions on how to assemble our furniture, but the most important job in the world, and no-one can tell you 'this is exactly how you do it'.
It's very hard when you are so frustrated, not to take it out on whoever is there. I hope things settle down soon, and she stops waking as you go to bed...and I KWYM about checking on them, I am still like that with DS2!

Cate- Hayley has some days where she only has one sleep, she'll just refuse to go to sleep and muck around in her cot instead...it's frustrating but at least that night she'll go to bed early, at about 6.30!

Heather- hope little Isaac is over his cold soon :( there were so many sick kids at playgroup last week I'm considering not going back until winter is over...it's just too hard when they get sick and if I can avoid it I will! Hope the situation with your DF gets better soon, would be nice if he took it upon himself to want to do something for his family, instead of just getting by on the bare minimum :hug:

Fleur- how is little Pie going? And yep, sometimes I wish we were given an instruction book, or that they all worked the same way..but i guess that's half the fun of parenting! Lol

AFU- Hayley started saying "Mum" today! After so many months of going dad dad dad dad...lol. She sort of says "bub" too, but I don't think she realises what 'bub' or 'mum' means. She knows dad though! She's standing up lots, hasn't had any falls for a few days though (probably just jinxed myself..).

I'm still at a loss with her sleeping...I've been trying to get her back to sleep when she wakes as I'm going to bed but nothing works except putting her in bed with me, which I don't want to be an every night thing. DF doesn't like her being in our bed, and while I don't mind it I dont want it to be all night every night, I need some space too! DF thinks I should try cutting back on her day sleeps, so she would only be having one sleep a day, but I don't know because then she is exhausted by 6.30, but maybe if I dropped her morning sleep and she just had an arvo one she would be ok? I'm not ready for her to only have one sleep though, that's my time!

I just don't know what to do next or what to try because nothing seems to work...she won't settle unless I pick her up and then starts crying as soon as I put her back even if she is asleep when I put her back down. i don't know if she is "playing me" as some people have told me, or if there is some genuine reason why she keeps waking up and won't go back to sleep. Whilst I don't mind trying controlled crying I am definitely not going to let her CIO as DF sometimes suggests...but then CC doesn't seem to work either as she gets so worked up and won't stop until I pick her up.

and tonight I can't even get her to go to sleep! :wall:
