I just don't know what to do next or what to try because nothing seems to work...she won't settle unless I pick her up and then starts crying as soon as I put her back even if she is asleep when I put her back down. i don't know if she is "playing me" as some people have told me, or if there is some genuine reason why she keeps waking up and won't go back to sleep.

It's been awhile since I've had time to post in here - been reading though - but my DS had been doing the same - waking when I put him down in the cot in the middle of the night when he was asleep for a while before putting him down, I've started to make sure that his hand was near one of his teddies (we have a lullaby seahorse/worm thing that I use) so that his hand bumps the teddy when he moves - he can think it's my breast and go back to sleep and it seems to be working so far. He's been feeding back to sleep at night and won't let DH settle him back to sleep.

SS- You've probably already thought of this but, could it be wind? DS almost always wakes up if I dont give his back a rub before I put him to bed.

It has been forever since I posted in here :redface: I went back to work full time in Jan and have been flat out ever since. DH is in his last placement as well so things are just a bit crazy with that as well.

Fred is doing really well. She is crawling really quickly but wants to walk everywhere holding our hands. She waits for us to hold both hands and the charges off where ever she likes. She tried walking under a table last week and looked at me strangely when I didn't follow her under there! She stands well but still needs to hold onto something. She also claps at us and waves it is the cutest things. Her bed time routine involves waving good night to everyone before going to bed and now she does it automattically... again really cute.

Once I have had a chance to read up I hope I will be back for personals :)

SS - I had the same thing with DD1 - eventually I took her to the Dr's and found she had an ear infection, it only hurt when she was lying down on the bed, not when she was in my arms. Coud that could be something to check out?

Never thought of that Ryatha..thankyou! I might take her to the drs just in case...i have noticed she has a bit of an excess of ear wax lately. She cries most times I lay her down on the change table to change her nappy too...I thought she was just protesting but it could be that it hurts :dunno:

heather- she rarely burps after her bottles these days (unless DF bounces her up and down :rolleyes: ) so I don't think she has wind pain, but then again with babies you never know! There is some natural remedy, like Infant's friend or something for wind isn't there? Might get some and see if that helps..at this point I'm willing to try anything to get her to stop waking up so early!
the funny thing is she will sleep right through the night if she is in bed with me, so I should love that fact, but I wouldn't mind her waking up (after she had been asleep for at least 4-5 hours!) once a night if she was in her own cot!

We have infants friend. It works really well. :) Haven't tried anything else but there are a few on the market.
I hope she's not in pain, but at least if it is an ear infection then you can fix it and she hopefully goes back to normal. :)

AFU - I burnt Isaac's hand today :( I went to wash his hands under the kitchen tap and didn't realise the mixer was on hot! (our hot water is unbelievably hot too, almost boiling) and stuck his and my hand under. It didn't burn me too badly cause I do it to myself all the time :doh: But his skin is so sensitive. Not surprisingly he screamed!
I put his hand under cold running water straight away.
My poor little boy :( I feel so horrible for doing it to him, of course it was an accident but I feel like such a terrible mum for doing it to him :cry:. He's fine now, it's not red or anything and doesn't seem to be bothering him at all. But I feel so bad. Then DF says "how did you not realise it was on hot?" Thanks DF that makes me feel much better.

Quick one from me tonight. We are well, I ahve been flat-out with work this week.

Arlea is standing alone now :o she has been doing it for a bit at night on our bed but last Saturday at DS1's football she did it for the first time for real... stood up holding onto me & let go. Now she thinks she is very clever & uses every opportunity to show off.
She won't go anywhere though unless we are holding both hands, she is very definite about that. So a few weeks off walking yet.

Arlea is the same and we have had our first tantrums, when we get tired of walking around bent double, she screams & squeals until someone else takes over. I think we are growing a little Diva :lol:

Heva :hug: it happens hun, don't beat yourself up about it, it has happened to most of us. It is upsetting but as you say he seems to be fine, if he's not bothered then it's time for you to be ok too ;) :comfort:

:hug: Heather, Isaac won't even remember...I know I've burnt Hayley's mouth a couple of times with food i thought was ok, but must have been a bit too warm for her :redface: And I don't have enough fingers to count how many times I've burnt myself with the hot tap!

fleur- woo go Arlea! It's a bit sad though...she's not going to be a little dependant baby anymore!

Hayley has been a bit better with sleeping the last couple of days, although we had a shocker the other night. she went to bed at 7 when she conked out during her bottle (she only had one sleep that day so was exhausted!) woke up at 7.30 with a tummy ache, got her to burp and she was asleep at 8 when someone bashed on the door and woke her up again! couldn't get her back to sleep until about 9.30 and then it started pouring down rain at 10 and was so loud on the tin roof it woke her up...after that i put her in bed with me for the night :rolleyes:
if she is in bed with me she'll sleep right through the night, she might stir a few times but doesn't wake up, I just wish she would do that in her own bed!

the last couple of nights she's woken up at about 12.30/1am and goes back to sleep in her cot until about 6, and after that I chuck her in bed with me. This morning she slept until after 8!
Apart from her sleeping issue she's been going pretty well. Pulling herself up on everything- including her playgym, I keep having to put it on it's side so she doesn't go A over T!
she started saying "mum mum mum" a couple of days ago, so gorgeous! And she sort of says "bub bub bub" too. Although not on demand...I tried to get her to say it to my mum today while I was talking to her on the phone and she would just smile but not say anything. cheeky bugger!

AFU - We've had a really good last couple of days, aside from me burning Isaac's hand.
He's really getting around now, crawling faster than I can walk. He's also quite good at walking supported, as in I can hold his hands and he'll walk by himself, I don't have to lead him and he LOVES it! (Fleur - We get the tanties too, although not to that extent yet, he will crack it when I put him back down.)
He's almost cruising too! He took a couple of steps across while holding onto me. He seems reluctant to try it on furniture though, I've tried encouraging him with toys but he just doesn't seem to want to try. :dunno: He'll do it in his own time I guess.
We had a fantastic day today, first we watched a cement truck pour some concrete outside our house, it was very exciting. lol Then after his sleep we went to the park at the end of our street and had a little picnic lunch and a play on the swings.
I took a couple of pics today so I'll put them up on FB soon.

DF had a job interview today and... HE GOT IT! :yeah: His hours are really good too, 1pm to 8pm, so the three of us can be together in the morning, then he goes to work and I get some time with just Isaac and me, until he's asleep and then DF and I can watch some TV or something until our bedtime. I'm so stoked! I just hope his car doesn't wake up Isaac when he get home of a night :fingerscrossed:

After DD's sleep getting better for a couple of days, it's gone back to crapness again...and like she did once before she's been waking about an hour after I put her to bed for the night. *sigh*
She started cruising the lounge chair today, shuffling across it, whilst pulling the newspaper off it and scattering it all over the floor :rolleyes: very cute to watch though, she thinks she is so clever! I've tried a couple of times to help her walk while I'm holding her hands but she just stands there and wobbles, or falls down on her bum. So I think walking is still a fair way off. Would be nice if she actually crawled properly first!
Her second tooth has just popped through, looks funny because now she has two bottom teeth but they aren't at the same height! WIll really have to watch my fingers now.

Have got a few little pressies for DD's birthday, I can't believe she'll be 10 months on Wednesday! They'll be a year old in no time! I bought a few little things from MillaRuby Designs (Caddie from BB) she has so many lovely things...but I bought her a little stuffed giraffe, a headband (it's a bit big though) and a size 2 skirt, think I might have to leave the skirt for a Christmas present though, it's pretty big. I also got her a little trolley with stacking blocks in it from a big market we had here when the Falling of the Leaf festival was on a few weeks ago. She's been playing with it and DF keeps saying its not going to be her b'day present anymore...I might have to wrap it up soon so she can't play with it anymore! Lol.
I'd like to get her a swing set or something for outside, but don't know if she is too young for something like that yet? Not really sure what else to get her...

SS - He seems to have enjoyed it. He just got home so haven't heard much about it yet. It was soo nice to just have some time to ourselves today. :D I really missed it and feel so much more relaxed now. I haven't even thought about buying prezzies yet. Maybe I should...??

They grow up so fast! I can't believe how old our LO's are now and how far they've come! It's kinda scary. lol

AFU - We had a really great day, I posted it in a thread before but I'm going to post it again because it made me smile...

I was trying(and not getting very far:lol:) to get DS(10 months) to sleep and he was getting a bit upset so I put his dummy in to calm him down. He was still chucking a wobbly so I picked him up and he looked at me for a minute.
Then he took the dummy out of his mouth, stuck his finger in between my lips so I'd open mine and put the dummy in my mouth. :o

It was really cute and he was soo proud of himself (and so was I)
Do you think it was a physical awareness thing ie he's realised that I have a mouth like him? or just a what happens if I stick this in here?

Aside from that we didn't do too much, just the usual stuff.
He's recently started being a bit more independant with his eating. Before he would make me feed him his finger foods. lol I'd be telling him the whole time that the point of finger foods is that he uses his fingers not mine. lol. Anyway yesterday he decided he'd do it himself. "GREAT!" I thought. Today he decided that he'd squish it all up to the point it's only possible to eat it with a spoon :doh: :lol:

There was a violinist on oprah today playing "flight of the bumble bee". Isaac was totally mesmerised by it. He even had a bit of a sook when it was over lol.

heva - that is so cute with your DS & the dummy! i think it is an awareness of you having a mouth as well. and great news that you're feeling more relaxed with your DF back at work.

jas - arlea sounds like a gorgeous & clever little diva! is she still showing off her standing? and how does she go getting down again? corey has had some great bruises on his bum from sudden drops from the standing position :lol:

ryatha - it's great to hear from you :) i can imagine how busy you must be with work...how is fred sleeping? i saw your fb status (maybe last week?) with the awesome night...hope they're continuing for you

hi to everyone i've missed! i was hoping miss e & lotus flower might have popped in cos it looks like their LOs might be walking from their fb statuses....so exciting!

afu, ummm...maybe not the best day for me to post :lol: the whole sleeping thing is overshadowing everything today & i'm feeling verrrry sorry for myself! apart from sleep though, everything is going well - i've noticed such a change in how corey eats in the last month, so much more proficient in chewing etc. i also finally got around to getting him a cup with a straw & he loves it. so nice not to have to hold his water for him & try & guess when he might be thirsty!! swimming lessons are still going well (i love them!) and playgroup is good too - in the last couple of weeks corey will actually go off & play with toys/other babies instead of always being attached to me :)

Sarah, sorry to hear that sleep is getting you down. It's amazing how much of an impact their sleeping habits have on our moods isn't it (well probably not actually), I find that if Ash is sleeping badly I feel like nothing is going right, but if he has a couple of good naps then I think it's been a great day. I know what you mean with the chewing, I've also noticed the same thing with Ash.

Heva I love the dummy story! So cute! I think it definately shows an awareness that you have a mouth as well, he was probably thinking this is so good mum you have to give it a try. Sometimes Ash will do the same thing with food, he loves to feed me! Glad to hear you and Isaac are getting a bit of time to yourselves again, I hope your DF is enjoying the new job and it all works out well for the three of you.

Storm, Wow you're super organised! I haven't even started thinking about birthday gifts yet, but should get onto it cos it really isn't that far away is it... I love the idea of a swing set, I know Ash loves to go on the swing at the park so she's probably not too young for it. Just wish we had the space for one.

Fleur I know what you mean with the tantrums, Ash is really starting to assert himself now. He loves to climb the stairs, so he will stand at the gate trying to climb it and crying until I come over and open it for him, then he has a little excited jump.

Ryatha, great to hear from you, I've missed hearing about Fred.

Leckert, love your seahorse trick, how clever, I might have to give something like that a try with Ash.

AFU all is going pretty well. We did have a bit of a grumpy week last week though, but I think there is a wonder week at 44 weeks so it was probably that. About a week ago Ash took his first steps. He was holding on to my hands (barely) and walking so I let go and he kept going, he didn't realise until he'd taken about 4 steps and DH and I were clapping, but then he freaked out and sat straight down. Since then he's been a bit reluctant to walk holding onto my hands, but is cruising everywhere he possibly can and pushing his little walker thingy around to get where he wants to go. I think he is ready physically, but not mentally iykwim? Oh well, he'll be walking for the rest of his life so there's no rush.
