One month old yesterday, My boy Marek was born June 23.

Sorry to hear about the cold, Sally. My guy's been kind of stuffed up and mucousy pretty much since he was born too. At least it doesn't seem to bother him too much. Steam from the shower seems to help a little. Did you do anything special to help Tristan?

Marek's spending a lot of time awake these days and just looking for attention. Still too young to take an interest in stories or toys. May I ask how others here entertain their newborns?

I did the steamy bathroom trick, and saline drips in his nose. Apart from that just making sure he's comfy and offering regular feeds.

Tristan just sleeps, eats and poops... no need to entertain him :lol: Sorry I'm not much help.

Lil man now has reflux :( I really hoped to miss that bus.... Brendan also had reflux which didnt correct until roughly 12-13 months :( I've got Tristan on Gaviscon Infant, which is helping.

I had Blake weighed yesterday and he is 3.840kg (8lb8oz) 53.5cm long and 37cm HC...big improvement from birth 2.940kg but discharge weight was 2.580kg...so hes growing well.

Sleeping is a bit over the place...he seems to be a very 'farty' baby...just pops off all the time...at night he seems to get more 'farty' than during the day and i find him to take a little longer to get back to sleep....but hes silent reflux is getting better...just had to trial and error on the time of administration on his medication....but hes still needing a top up of formula at those night feeds....he takes me but i feel that my boobs are just empty in the time frame from 3am....but fine during the day...any suggestions ladies??? im drinking plenty of water during the day and eating a good diet...and avoiding the naughty gassy foods...like cauliflower and broccoli etc

But overall im think Blake has found his feet in our household....the girls are enjoying him and hes starting to 'coo' and 'smile' he holds his head quite well too....Cant believe he will be 6 weeks on monday....time is flying by...Blake has been feeding every 3 hrs during the day and with his growth spurt this week i can understand why hes been fussy...:wall:

Noah is still very snuffly at night time and we have had a terrible night the last two nights. He has had so much trouble sleeping and has ended up sleeping most of the night on our chests so that he can breathe. We have used the fess saline spray - didn't work. We've tried keeping the room warm for him - didn't really help. We have a vapouriser on - hasn't done much for him. We have also had a nappy at the end of his bed with a little bit of eucalyptus oil on it and it hasn't helped either. I'm at the end of my ideas on what to try for the poor little tyke. My mum suggested raising one end of his bed slightly as he doesn't seem to have much trouble during the day or at night when he's sleeping in his pram. So we might try that tonight and see if it helps.

If it doesn't improve I might take him to my GP and see if she can suggest anything else.

Apart from that, today Noah has been going a little longer between his feeds. He had a big growth spurt last week but seems to be starting to settle down today. He has gone for 4 hours between each feed today, and he hasn't thrown up to much of his milk either. So we'll see how he goes :D

Tristan isnt snuffly anymore, but I think he's havign a growth spurt, he's been attached to me most of the time in past few days!

Tara - We have the head of Leah's cot in a pair of platform shoes to help with her vomiting. It works well. Try putting baby vicks on his feet and some socks on too.

I had my full 6 week checkup today. Mirena goes in next week. Leah had her checkup on Friday and the MCHN is coming tomorrow for our normal weekly visit. I am going back onto anti-depressants too. I have had PND with each baby.

The girls are all getting Little People sets for christmas. They had a deal on in the toy sale that was buy 3 get the school bus free, so they are getting a truck, a boat, noah's ark, and the school bus. The bus truck and boat will be 1 each and Noah's ark will be shared because it is bigger.

I had some Aktavite the other day and it really worked to increase supply!! I had 3 serves and the next morning I was engorged!!

I've heard the aktavite helps with that! I dont like the taste of it, but if it'll help might be worth looking into shall I need to.
I'm still on my AD's hoping to wean off within the next month or so.
Our 6 week check is on Wed :D

I was taking sustagen to increase my supply and am now on aktavite (much cheaper!) and it seems to be helping. I still have to top up on formula though.

Appt went very well. Tristan is now 3.75kg!! He's doing very well has good head control very strong neck muscles and is very alert. Dr was very happy with him :D

Hi all, sorry i have dissapeared, the first six weeks of Tayla's life have gone quick but haven't been easy. She took to breastfeeding so well that it was a shame i had to swap her to lactose free formula last friday to stop her tummy hurting. She was screaming in pain. my boobs are still recovering from the sudden stop.

She is not screaming in pain any more, but for the last few days she has been straining a lot between feeds, it wakes her up and she gets sooky but not nearly as bad as when she was breastfeeding. She hasn't pooed since Tuesday but if she does one today i guess that will still be normal for a formula baby. She pooed constantly while breastfeeding, I guess her body might still be getting used to the change. any ideas on how to help her?

I'm so sorry Julz :hug: You can try gently pushing her legs up to her chest and back again to help her.

I cant remember what age you are allowed to give this but I'll suggest anyway... you can get coloxyl drops for infants from the chemist. Before going down that path I'd suggest seeing the CHN or GP first though.

We had a rough night last night. Tristan fell off the bed and Brendan kept me up all night. Tristan is sleeping through 6-7 hours most nights which is awesome... just wish I could sleep for all that.... Brendan wakes constantly :(

:hug: Julz, at least she isn't in pain anymore! Amelia went for 3 days last week without doing a poo and seemed to be in a bit of pain. I called the MCHN and they said that it was perfectly normal (she is 50/50 bf and ff) for her to go 10 days without one and if it hit day 10 with nothing then try 40ml cooled boiled water with a teaspoon of brown sugar (I think it was a teaspoon) - I didnt have to try it though, she did a monster poo that afternoon and when through 3 disposable nappies :lol:

sally, hope you have a better night tonight! We had a good night, she slept from 7.30 til 4!

afm I hired a breast pump yesterday so Im going to try to express as much as possible and hopefully my supply will increase enough so I can reduce the amount of formula I give Amelia.

Baby09, Noah gets a combo of ebm and formula as well. The majority of his feeds are formula but when we go out or I haven't expressed enough he gets formula. He is doing so much better and neither of us is as stressed as we used to be with the whole breast feeding thing.

Adhiamba, Noah is also more alert during the day and I find he likes to sit in his bouncer and watch me. I also discovered the other day that he thought it was hilarious to watch me sing and dance to Michael Buble so I just put that on and dance round while I'm doing chores. He loves it :D

Noah had his 6 week check up on friday, which was a couple days early. He's going great guns. He's cracked 6 kilos and is 58cm long. The hole in his heart has also closed over which is a huge relief for Jeremy and I. So, I just have to make an appointment next week for him to see out GP and get his shots. Not looking forward to that!

Anyways, he's asleep now so I should really go to bed too.

Hello girls, sorry I`ve been MIA, just don`t have time for everything.

Ethan is doing well, we`ve had a few night lately where he`ll sleep for 5 - 7 hours :D (now just to get my other two to sleep through as well), our day`s aren`t too bad either, some day`s he`ll be unsettled, it`s more wanting to be with Mummy more then being upset, other day`s like today he sleeps well, he`s a very easy baby (so far).

I was going to get Ethan`s vaccinations yesterday but he`s been a bit snuffly (DH has a bad cold atm) so I thought I better not get them done.

Tristan and I are both doing well. We are going to try raising the head of his bassinet to see if he will sleep in it then, we've been co-sleeping, but now that Nigel has injured himself theres less room in the bed (he tore ligaments in his knee)

Going to make some more lactation cookies!

Tara - great news about Noah's heart and hitting 6kg!

Deejoy - Ethan sounds like Amelia, she sleeps at least 5 hours each night and some days will sleep during the day as well, others (like today!) she prefers to be awake with me.

Sally - how is Tristan going in the bassinette? We moved Amelia into her cot last weekend and she is a lot happier.

AFM - breastfeeding is picking up - DH bought me brewers yeast the other day (I asked for the powder and he bought me the tablets....) and I also bought flaxseed. My supply has improved though - the past few days I have been leaking :lol:. I am still topping up with formula. 6 week check up went well, Amelia didnt get weighed but she definitely feels heavier when I pick her up!

Baby: I'm glad things went well with Amelia's check and that she's gaining weight.

Noah had his whopping cough vaccination yesterday and is going back in 2 weeks for the other shots. He did really well with the vaccination. I was so proud of him.

I have started weaning Noah off breast milk because I have started back at work (working from home 15 hours a week) and don't have time to express, feed, work and look after the house and myself and Noah. So I am slowly cutting back the number of times I'm expressing. Although I have decided not to wean him completely but eventually to get down to just expressing first thing in the morning and last thing at night so that Noah still gets some ebm and not just formula.

Apart from that, Noah is a pretty good baby too. During the day he does rest but he likes to sleep on me or in his bouncer rather than in his bed. At night he is down to 2 feeds after we're asleep. I am thinking about moving him into his cot as it will probably help me to sleep better cause I'm not waking every time he makes a little noise. We were out all day yesterday and then went to the shops last night and Noah was so good. He just lies there and smiles at you when he's not sleeping or eating :D I just love him to bits :D

We had an appointment with the pediatrician for Noah's 6 week check and then saw our GP for his immunisations. If u had a pediatrician who u have to go see then they will do the checkup, if not your GP will do it :)

Sally: congrats on Tristan getting to big for the 0000's. Unfortunately for me Noah went straight into 000's :)

Depends where you get the imms done.

I get the CHN to do them, and thats all shes does for that day is imms, if you want a check you have to make an appt for another day.
I can go to the GP and they will do both. But I'm not paying to go LOL

I need to make an appt for Tristan and Brendan. They both need weighs and a measure and Tristan needs his imms.

I've finally uploaded a new ticker... Tayla is in between 3 and 4 0's now so she doesn't fit into anything haha lots of rolled up sleeves for a couple of weeks i think. I just put her to sleep in her cot for the first time, she looks so tiny in the huge cot.

The lactose free formula has definitely helped the tummy pains but on the other hand she was constipated this week the poor thing. I hope things settle for her, she has been grumpy the last few days but i am sure she is having a growth spurt, or maybe a wonder week, who knows, i just want my happy smiling baby back :)

Not looking forward to immunisations, i will take her to the gp a week on Monday. Hope your bubs get through theirs ok :)

a little woo-hoo for me - yesterday Amelia didn't drink a full bottle of formula after each feed and this morning she only had a 30ml top up! i think my boobies may finally be working :dance::crossfingers:

Well i can believe that Blake is already 8 weeks old....hes doing well...hes now 5kg or 11lb 56cm long...still breast feeding but he still takes formula after feeds at night...but slowly having to offer a topup of formula during the day....hes just not content but its good hes gaining weight and growing and i dont mind...ithink i like the closeness when i am feeding him and its nice to sit for 30mins lol
He had his first needls this week and the poor little bugga cried the house down so it was a little upsetting for me even though ive been through it many times before it still breaks your heart but its worth it in the long run.

Chrissy: Noah has that top :D Too cute. He also has one that says "My Dad, My hero" from Cotton on Kids. Blake is very cute.

Noah is doing really well. Smiling lots and getting very chubby :D His dedication (christening) is in 2 weeks and I can't wait. We took him to the beach for a little while today. He put his little feet in the sand and smiled at us all.

Went to Big W today and bought some nappies and clothes etc for Noah. Got him some cute little shorts for $5 cause he's starting to get to hot in his long pants.

If anyone's in Sydney I would love to catch up with you. Let me know :D

Tayla had her shots yesterday and she handled it really well, i'm so proud of her. She is a little grumpy today though but she is getting lots of cuddles and affection.

We are also treating her for silent reflux, she has probably had it all along the poor thing. i bet she isn't even lactose intolerant as we first thought, but we won't be changing her formula until we get the reflux sorted. The poor thing she has all the horrible symptoms. We are trying mylanta and gaviscon before putting her on the prescription stuff. Hopefully we can help her because she is getting worse and worse and has only been drinking 80-100mls 5 times a day. I am keeping a close eye on her weight gain, atm it is still good.

Hope your bubs are happier than mine :(

Chrissy - Poor Blake, it sounds like he was not at all impressed with his needles!

We went to get Soph's done the other day at community health, filled out all the forms and stuff, only to get into the room and be told that they couldn't do them because she was 4 days shy of 8 weeks. DH had taken the day off to come with us, so he wasn't very impressed. DH and I did get the whooping cough vaccination for ourselves though. I rang the dr's Thursday and asked if I could get Sophie's needles done today and was told yes, so we get in there and the receptionist told us they had no nurse in today! :angry: So we've got an appointment for Monday...

We did get Miss S checked and she's doing well, weighing 9lb 3oz and 55.5cm, she feels like such a little heifer now!

My name is Veronica and my son Spencer was born on 16th June 2009 weighing 7'2 oz. He is little brother to Emmaleigh is was born in August 2005.

Spencer is trying to hold his head up and smiles all the time. He's a pretty happy boy unless he is hungry!
He had his injections on Thursday so he was a bit grizzly for the rest of the day, but he is happy.
We have our 9 week assessment on Monday so I will be able to see how big he is now.

Currently he sleeps from 11pm to 7am so i'm pretty lucky with the sleep thing.

Anyway, thats it about us. hope to chat to you ladies soon

Hi Veronica, welcome and congrats!! Tristan sleeps from roughly 10pm until 5ish when he comes in with us and goes back to sleep for another 1.5-2 hours.

Erin, that sucks how silly! As if 4 days is going to make a huge difference!

Julz, poor Tayla :( Tristan's reflux is getting better, just as the dr's said it would he appears to be growing out of it. (his is caused from being born prematurely)

We are ok, all sick, Brendan being the worst :( tristan thankfully only has sniffles.

So things are going well. We took Noah to the beach yesterday and then went on a picnic today. While Noah still isn't sleeping right through the night (wakes twice after we're in bed about 1-2am and then 4-5am) I'm not sure whether it's because he's still in our room and I hear him in all his baby noise glory or whether he still just gets hungry. Anyway, we're moving him to his own room at the end of the month so we'll see what happens. I am going to start putting him to sleep in the cot in the nursery during the day so he gets used to the cot and his room before we put him in there at night. Once he's in his room I'm going to try not to bring him into our bed and make sure he stays in his own room. We'll see how we go.

I haven't yet moved Spencer into the cot. He is still in the basinette in our room. We are also finding that he is still really 'snuffly' in the morning and we have the vaporiser and Euky bear on him. Not sure why it's taking longer!

It's sounds like all the babies are getting so big. Have you moved Noah into his cot yet? How did it go?

Imms for T on Wed, He'll be exactly 2 months! Weight and measure check on the friday of next week. His reflux is playing up again :(

Hello all, my name is Kate and I would like to join your group.

I was hoping for a complication free pregnancy/birth but bubba had other plans and due to a major bleed at 33 weeks, scary rush to hospital and me going unconscious and my BP crashing in the ambulance I was admitted to hospital and stayed there on bed rest for 2 weeks, steroid injections the works and then just confined to hospital for the next 4 weeks until our daughter Avaleigh Grace was born on the 16th of June via planned c-section (due to bleed)

Avaleigh weighed 2.6 Kg at birth and was discharged at 2.4 Kg (although they wanted her to go in to the SCN unless she got formula top ups) She was to little to breastfeed, so I expressed but not quickly enough and my supply has been stuffed up ever since. I tried everything based on docs etc advice but now I am going to try things one at a time and see how I go. I am on motilium 3 tabs 3 times a day. Avaleigh is feed top ups after each feed. they are mostly formula top ups with some EBM. At birth her head circ was 33cm and she was 47cm long. She weighed at 6 weeks 3.4 Kgs, her height is 53cm and head circ 36cm. We will be going for her 9 week check up this week. I hope she has put on more weight.

She was feeding 2-3 hourly for the first month round the clock, the she went 3-4 in her second month but inthe last two weeks she was awake not wanting food for hours on end, from 12pm-9pm sometimes, she was hardly getting any sleep so I decided to try the SOS routine and so far so good today was only our second day and she has gotten a cold :( so the routine stuffed up a bit :doh:

Sorry for so much info but I need to catch up with you guys, you all sound so lovely, hope to share this journey with you if you will have me.

Spencer had his 9 week review today and he now weighs 5kg's. he has put on 900gm's in one month and grown about 2cm's.he is now 54cm's tall.
I bought a box of huggies crawler nappies today and was wondering when these should be used. I am unsure as they fit nearly the same weight as infant nappies. can anyone tell me the difference between infant nappies and crawlers and let me know when they should be used?

Hi Kate, welcome and congrats!! So glad you were able to hang onto little Avaleigh for a few more weeks :D As for your supply I HIGHLY reccomend the lactation cookies, not only yummy but they helped me out. I went from having very little to squirting within hours of eating 3-4 cookies.

Difference between Infant and Crawler, is crawlers hold more, have a bigger rise and fit longer. And cost... When Brendan was in them Infant only came in handy packs, not in bulk boxes (not sure if they do now or not)

Tristan has managed to shake the cough, but is still snuffly.

Welcome to the group. We're always glad to have new faces. I too am glad you were able to hold onto Ava for a bit longer. Hope you manage to find something that helps to increase your bm supply.

Noah was weighed today & had the rest oh his 8w injections. He now weighs 7kilos, is 60.5cm long and is doing very well.

Wow Noah is huge!! hehe. He's doing so well!!

Tristan and Brendan will both get weighed next friday at the CHN. Tristan I'm confident he's gained as I can see he's growing :) Brendan on the other hand is having trouble maintaining weight... at 2y6m he is only 11kg fully clothed, boots and all. We are now sickness free too! Hopefully for a while to!
