Joey - try "family day care brisbane" in google. I just quickly tried that and it came up with a whole heap. I think that's what you're after... and yep, am in Brisbane in carina (so eastside/southside) :) Thanks for the invite to the meet ups and hair day, and a catch up with yourself and Monique and any other local mums in this thread sounds great too.

We had a great weekend, lunch with our friends was lovely on sat and the kids were both very well behaved. Yesterday had a quiet day - cooked lamb shanks in the slow cooker (so easy) so it was very comforting to have that bubbling away all day and feel like a domestic goddess with minimal effort ;) Looking forward to catching up with a couple of girlfriends through the week - it's nice getting back into it all again.

Hope everyone else is good - had better go and spend some quality time with ds while Lila is asleep. Will try and make it back in later for persies...

Sounds like everyone is going well in these first few weeks. I haven't had time to scratch myself let alone post much so I'm finally catching up on some time. Will is 5wks old today and its been a rocky few weeks, mainly on the BF front. Unfortunately I've had to wean him and he's a fully formula fed boy now :-( I'm still having a hard time dealing with it. To cut a long story short, trying to BF has been hell for us - we took him off the boob at day 10 because my nipples were horrifically damaged. He has a high palate which made attachment difficult and he is absolutely ferocious at the boob. So I had been expressing since then to ensure he got breast milk and hopeful that things would heal and I could get him back on.

That all went pear shaped when I got thrush and a bacterial infection on my nipples, discovered that vasospasm was making things worse, and just over the weekend I got another infection flair up - a combination of mastitis and the bacterial infection getting into a wound on the nipple. Very painful. So we've weaned. I've never been in so much pain in all my life - even expressing was painful. Not to mention taking up precious time that I could be spending with my boy. I persevered for as long as I could. I just have to deal with the fact that my boobs weren't meant to feed this little one....maybe next baby :pray:

He has taken to the bottle fine, and he is stretching out his night sleep to about 7 hours now which is brilliant. We feed him around 8pm and 11pm and he'll sleep until about 6:30am the next morning. He's happy and settled and getting more and more alert. And now that I'm not attached to a breast pump for most of my day we can get out and about a bit more and I can have my sanity back.

All this hair-do stuff sounds good - i need a colour desperately. Re-growth is looking hideous. Thankfully my best friend is a hairdresser who works from home. I can go and hang at her place for an afternoon with Will and get hair done too. And my hariy legs look like something from the black swamp - time for a wax! Thank god its winter.

Jenushka - Thanks for that. I came across Family Day Care the other day, but it didn't look right. I gave them a call and they are calling me back tomorrow. The next hair day is on 26th August at the Gap. So if you want to come, make sure you keep that day free.

Lolly - So sorry to hear that you are struggling with the fact that you can't BF anymore. It sounds as though you did as much as you could, more than most would, so good on you for that. And 7 hour sleeps!! That's got to be a positive!


AFM - Lily had trouble settling last night. Don't know if I ate too much sugar at the 3 yar oldbirthday party that we went to, or if she was just really over tired as she only napped all day long, normally she will have one big sleep of about 3-4 hours during the day and the rest are just cat naps. Anyway, we had family over for my other DD's birthday so I was stressed out, trying to cook and also settle Lily. I'd just get her off to sleep and she'd wake again 10 mins later. DH ended up getting her off to sleep for good and that was nice that he was the one to achieve that! She went down at about 7 and then woke me at 12.30 and 5.30, so still a good night! I went to bed at 8.30pm (family know not to hang around too late these days!!) and woke at 5.30, so less the hour up in the night, that's 8 hours sleep! I hope she keeps this up. She seems to be making a bit of a habit of it!

DH and I went out on a date on Saturday night. We went out to a Chinese Restaurant. Lily came too, but she slept through the first half, so she was very good. I was really nice and something we needed. I was starting to feel a bit distant, but back to good now. We have decided we are going to make every Saturday night movie night, and get out DVD's and have pizza and make it a couples night.

Joey - Thrush looks like when they have a little bit of chuck stuck to their tongue or inside the mouth somewhere and it doesnt rub off. In the BB it feels like engorgement, even when the BB is empty.

Ang - My pelvis is HEAPS better now. I still have to take it easy but I am able to do more and more each day, which is a huge relief.

Lolly - :hug: DD2 couldn't BF (dietary issues) but I felt guilty about it for ages. You did your best hun, and you made the decision that is best for your WHOLE family.

AFM - DH goes back to work tomorrow, so I am about to be in the deep end of having 3. I can pick up DD2 to get her out of the cot and to put her on the change table now so have some more independance back.

Leah is gaining well, another 250g this week, and she is now slightly heavier than what DD1 was at birth, now weighing 3590g!!! 600g heavier than birth weight. Very proud of my BBs and Leah's emptying of them!! Certainly is helping me to accept everything that happened with DD2.

Joey - you're right the longer sleeps at night are brilliant. Its helping me catch up on many many lost hours over the past 5 weeks which are much needed due to the problems we had. My general well-being has taken a big dive becuase of the stress and sleep deprivation.

Ali - I think it will take me a while to get over the guilt thing, but I will get there. TIme is too precious to waste on those things, but I know it will linger in the back of my mind for a while yet.

Thrush for me was excruciating. My nipples were very red and had a shiny, raw appearance. The pain was like people sticking pins into my nipples ALL the time, not just when expressing. And the cracks / blisters I had were not healing - it will slow any healing down a lot. Sounds divine doesnt it. :rolleyes: They treated me first with Daktarin Gel, and then with Gentian Violet which is a purple topical paint - its a bit old school, but a very effective antifungal agent. It just stains your nipples bright purple for a few days. Lucky my partner & I could have a good laugh about it!

ALioops - Thanks for that. Lily always has a white tongue, but it wipes off with a wet washer, so I guess that's not thrush. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

AFM - Lily only woke me once last night - 2.30am and then 6.30am this morning, so it seems as though this is going to happen for a while, touch wood. I saw my DD1 off on school camp this morning, so it will be a bit quiet for a week. Lily's awake - gotta go

joey - hope Lily's sleep was good last night also and that you'e enjoying your slightly quieter week. Very inspiring to hear that you were also able to go out for dinner with your dh too! How did you go with family day care - did they call you back?

lolly - Like the other ladies I think you are amazing for persevering as long as you did and undoubtedly have made the best decision for you, bub and your family. You deserve those wonderful 7 hour sleeps you're getting now (wow!).

ali - great news that your pelvis is much better. And yay for Leah's great weight gain! How are you going with your dh now back at work?

BD - glad to see you back in here, hope you're continuing to recover from James' birth and I'm sorry to hear that it was not how you'd hoped it would be. The sleep deprivation is a killer isn't it? Fingers crossed that soon James will start to stretch the time between feeds out just that little bit more for you...

afu - all going pretty well here, had a good night last night with Lila feeding at 8pm, 2am then 6.15am. I headed to bed at 10pm so it was great to be able to get that bit of extra sleep and I do feel a lot better today for it. Had a friend over for a catch up this morning which was good for the soul. And can't believe Lila is 6 weeks old tomorrow - I reckon its the quickest 6 weeks of my life! I'm going for my follow up glucose tolerance test on sat morning to hopefully make sure the gest diabetes is completely gone, then have the 6 week check-ups for both me and Lila next Tuesday. Delayed mine slightly to make sure my gtt results would be available at my appt... fingers crossed I am given the all clear :crossfingers: And can't wait to find out just how much Lila has grown

Hope everyone else is good and managing to look after themselves as much as those beautiful bubs!

jenushka - lily woke me twice last night! how rude. I have read her the riot act and she promises to make it once a night only from now on :lol:

yeah family day care called back. i also enquired about becoming a carer myself, just as an option, but probably won't happen, and so they're coming out next wednesday to look at the house. they said they'd give me details about putting lily in care when they come out. seems they're more keen for me to become a carer than a customer. sounds like they don't have many carers.

lily has been a bit unsettled today, but went down half an hour ago and i think this will be it for her until about 5.30 - which means either i miss my walk or i get her up and put her in the pram and hope she stays asleep. i have been eating like a hippo the last two days, so really need the exercise. i have my 6 week check up on monday. looking forward to hearing when i can get back into the exercise properly.

nope - there's lily ... wait .... it was just a grizzle ... nope there she is again. see ya ... wait ... nothing ... will go and check anyway :)

Joey- the thought of excercising atm completely horrifies me!:lol: Have never been a big one for excercise and am really currently unmotivated - there are too many other things I want to do first!

Jenuska - Yay for the smiles. Natalya is starting to give me some as well which I love.

Lollybaby - am sitting here having a laugh at the thought of your purple nipples!:D

Ali - glad that your pelvis is much better and that the b/f is going well.

Natalya has had some great sleeps the past couple of nights - from midnight through till 7am!!!:dance:But we are still having that unsettled/colicky period before that. Have tried the Braurs natural colic relief but that doesnt seem to have really helped.

It's so great when the wind smiles turn into the genuine ones :)

Our Little Miss has being giving us a heap of gorgeous smiles over the last 1.5weeks BUT tonight, I soooo wish I could have caught tonight's bunch of smiles just after dinner. They were so totally adorable & so infectious. It seems Charlette loves Daddy blowing raspberries on her belly!

School has gone back for us this week, so my life has just taken a whole new turn with the school run twice a day. So far we have only being late Tuesday, whereas today (Wednesday) we were on time.

AFM - Lily woke at 1am and 5.45am, so that was better than the night before. Now, if we can just stretch out that morning feed to 6.30 or 7am!! :pray:

She's not sleeping much during the day yesterday or today, but have discovered that she is quite happy to lay out on the back varandah where it is nice and warm. So far today she had had 2 x 20 min naps (one in the pram while we were walking) and a 10 min nap when she fell asleep feeding so I put her down with my fingers crossed. :wall:

Oh well, so long as she lets me sleep at night, and if she's happy to lay out the back for bits at a time, that's good too.

Hi to all the gals from my BB Group, and hi to everyone else that's on here too :)

Well Lachlan will be 6weeks old on Monday, so we are headed off to get his injections - I'm sooooooo not looking forward to it coz I'm having my whooping cough booster too - so we can both cry together :cry:

It's been interesting reading about everyone's littlies sleeping patterns.. I was thinking Lachie's sleeping was good, but 6-7 hrs? That would be awesome! At the moment he goes down at 9pm and sleeps til 2:30am, goes back down again at 3:15am and wakes up at 5:30-6:00am. Then he snoozes til bout 7:30am, has a feed and goes back down until 10am. He then has a couple of 2-3hr naps in the afternoon.. I guess I can't complain - his 'play time' is between 6-9pm and this is when he gets to spend good quality time with Daddy..

Anyway Id better go get the washing off the line - b4 it starts to get damp again!

CB - Welcome!! Glad you found us. what injections is Lachlan getting? I thought they didn't have any now till 2 months :redface: I hope I'm not missing anything!

I'm going on Wednesday for our 6 week check up, even though Lily was 6 weeks on Friday.

Clare - so lovely to see you in here, glad you found this thread! Great to hear that everything is going so well with little Lachlan.

Just back from my follow up glucose test (that drink is still disgusting!), fingers xd that the diabetes has gone for good. Will find out results at my ob appt on Tuesday.... and Lila has really stepped up her feeds again over the last 24 hrs, going back to mainly three hourly with a few feeds 2 hours apart. Together with her going without a poo for almost 2 days (which I know is normal in bf bubs but she was doing huge ones daily) it looks like we're going through a bit of a growth spurt. Do they have them at 6 weeks? Can't remember. Am looking forward to her check up on Tues as well to see if she really is getting as big as I think she is!

Joey - boo to dh having to work! Will he get a day in lieu in return or anything like that? As far as I thought too jabs weren't due until 2 months (according to the red book in QLD), though maybe they can go earlier or might be a state-by-state thing? I took ds to the council clinics for jabs and they were great, and plan on doing the same thing with Lila.
Thank you for the invite, but next Thursday/Friday I won't be able to make brunch - ds has kindy photos Thurs which I have to take him in for as he doesn't normally go Thursdays, and Friday I'll be down at Mums on the gold coast all day. Bugger! Other than next week, Tues and Wed are normally best for us as ds is in kindy and I'm actually able to have a conversation when I catch up with ppl!

Nothing else planned for the weekend for us, might break out the slow cooker again though. So good in this chilly weather!

Jenushka - I don't know if he'll get a day in leiu. Probably not, I did ask him that this morning and he didn't know. We don't have to catch up next week. How about we make it the following? I'm out on the back varandah in the sun and couldn't be bothered getting the calendar to see if I have anything on, but I'm not a very big social butterfly, so I don't think I will. What suits you best?

What about you Monique? Is one day better than another? I'm fine with either.


LIly is feeding all over the place during the day, and I don't really care, so long as she sleeps at night. I gave her a 5 minute feed at 9.15am and another one at 10.45am, so that's only 1.5 hours. She was probably more tired than hungry, but I didn't want to risk putting her down and her crying cause she was hungry, so I fed her about 7 mins and then she went down after about 4 mins crying.

How do your bubs go to sleep? Do they cry themselves or do you cuddle them to sleep and then put them down? "They" say that you should cuddle them to sleep till about 4 months. But that doesn't work for us.

Joey - Here in NSW they recommend that babies get their whooping cough (pertussis) combination injection at 6 weeks (because there has been an outbreak in northern NSW), I'm not sure whether they will also give him his other 8 week immunisations on the same day or make us go back in 2 weeks - guess I'll find out when we get there :) I'm not sure whether this applies in other states, I just know that NSW Health is taking the possibiloty of a whooping cough outbreak very seriously - I even received a letter in the mail 'strongly' recommending that we get Lachlan immunised at 6 weeks rather than waiting til 8 weeks..

Clare - thanks for the info re immunisations in NSW - it's great that whooping cough is being taken so seriously. DH and I had our wc boosters when Lila was 6 days old, and I'm really hanging out for Lila to be able to have her jabs, especially with a ds in daycare being exposed to absolutely everything! Hope it all goes well today...

Joey - Tuesday/Wed next week would be best (they are ds free days!) if these also suit others? Re sleep, most of the time we just wrap Lila and put her in her bassinette/cot awake but quiet and she self settles, just quietly nods off within 5 mins or so. Believe me I know absolutely how lucky I am to have that, because ds was the complete and total opposite and used to have me in tears because he would just never sleep!!! Sometimes in the afternoon when Lila's normally slightly more unsettled or if we've missed her tired signs we'll have to rock her to sleep. And we have been using a dummy occaisonally for the last couple of weeks too - Lila doesn't love it as much as ds did, but it has helped her sometimes to relax enough to nod off to sleep, then she'll normally spit it out after a few minutes anyway

Having said all of that, Lila was pretty unsettled last night. Sounded pretty snuffly and blocked up so we think she might have ds's cold. No temp or any other signs which is good but just need to clear her up. I'll get some of those saline drops today and give them a try but haven't used them before - does anyone know if they work?

Jen - yep the saline drops worked for us. Had to get them for Will a week or so ago - he had lots of boogers and generally blocked up and snuffly. They work a treat and are easy to give them too. Try to do it when bub is settled or asleep. They work pretty quickly too.

Joey - about the settling stuff...we do a mixture of things depending on how Will is travelling. Sometimes I'm fortunate and I can put him down happy and he will look around for a while and then nod off on his own (not very often though). Most of the time at night he'll settle on my shoulder after burping or with a cuddle - he's a real little possum. Other times I can rock him to sleep in the pram. We've only had to put him down crying once or twice when we've both been absolutely spare.

Sat night was funny - I went to bed after putting Will down at 11pm - DP was still up watching telly - turns out Will ended up partying on all night until 5am - he was up watching rage with his Dad all night - would cat nap for 20 mins or so then be up again. I was oblivious to it all until I woke at 5am and DP wasn't in bed with me!

I'm seriously thinking about trying the BF again...doing some research on re-lactating. I will try and make my mind up in the next few days...depends on how brave I can get really. Will keep you postted.....

Jenushka - I can't beleive Lila just goes down quietly! I wish Lily would take a dummy. I think it would be great cause often I feed her when she doesn't really need it, just cause she wants to suck and this helps get her off to sleep. I suppose seeing it's breast milk, it doesn't really matter.

I used a saline spray with Lily. She had a stuffy nose from about 1 week to 4 weeks old. You spray it up thir nose and then use this other thing to suck out the mucus. It worked really well.

I'm happy with either day next week for a catch up. What suits you out of those two days Monique??

LB - Sounds like Will is easy to get off to sleep too! Can't beleive he was up partying all night - well that's what Saturday nights are for I guess!!

Good on you for trying BF again. GL with it, but don't put too much pressure on yourself.


AFM - Went to DD's athletics carnival today and Lily slept for most of it. She was a little unsettled yesterday arvo cause we dragged her around different places all day, but we went out to dinner and I put her in a 'close' carrier that I am borrowing from a friend and she slept for the whole 1.5 hours, but then gave us a hard time when it was bed time, but I went to bed and DH managed to get her off to sleep. :)

Off to athletics again tomorrow, field events. Then a meet up with some BB girls on Wednesday.

Joey - gl with your check ups today, and hope you enjoy the meet-up. I always feel a million times less of a zombie when I catch up with girlfriends and have a good chat, even if I think I don't feel like it beforehand! And thanks for the advice re stuffy noses

lolly - thanks also for the advice re saline drops - I did end up getting some for Lila and gave them to her last night. They worked really well - definitely cleared her up enough not to keep her awake for hours like the nights before! GL with the bf research, hope it helps with whatever decision you make. And what an awesome sleep you got the other night - how good is your dp!

afu - we had Lila's check-up yesterday which went well. No concerns, she is growing very well and is now 4.3kg. Her hospital discharge weight was 2.96kg so a gain of almost 1.4kg which is awesome :dance: All her measurements put her on the 25th percentile so she is in proportion, but it is a bit funny getting used to having a little baby - I know all her measurements are definitely in the normal range but ds was so much bigger, and Lila is still smaller at almost 7 weeks than some bubs are at birth!! Still she was born at 38w, have to take that into account ... and she is happy, healthy and absolutely thriving and thats what matters :)

I had my check up with the ob yesterday too which went well, the only thing is (sorry if tmi :redface:) I'm STILL bleeding after the birth, and Lila is 7 weeks old tomorrow. It had almost gone about a week ago but then came back fairly heavy-ish and red. Ob not super-dooper concerned, but if it's still going in a few weeks then I need to go have a scan to check nothing has been left behind. But just soooooooooo sick of it!!

Well we've had an interesting couple of days to say the least!

We had our 6wk check-up with the community midwife at the hospital on Monday - and to say I was unimpressed would be an understatement! She was very confusing when answering my questions and offering advice, so by the time I left I think I had more questions than when I arrived!

She started by telling me that he's drinking too much (even though the midwives at the hospital told me that a baby will only drink as much as they want/need), but by the end of the consult she told me to feed him the same amount as what he's been having! :rolleyes: Then she told me that he may have a neurological problem because his legs jitter sometimes when he straightens/stretches them out. This freaked me out a bit - mainly because she definitely didn't broach the subject in a manner that wouldn't alarm me... :wtf:

The worst part was the fact that when she measured Lachie, she didn't stretch his legs out - she said she didn't want to hurt him by holding his legs - I am yet to meet a baby that voluntarily stretches out and holds the position for measuring! This meant that when she noted his length it was incorrect, and I couldn't understand why she put an obviously false measurement into his book, making the tracking of his growth hard to measure accurately.

Anyways, when we had our needles yesterday at the Drs (of which he had all of his 8w needles with his whooping cough immunisation), we had him re-measured, and low & behold he was actually 2.5cm longer than what was recorded in his blue book - so I asked the Dr to change the notations. I know I may sound as though I'm being anal, but I can stay home and take incorrect measurements - if I'm going to the effort of going in to the hospital to see a so-called trained professional I expect them to do little things like measuring Lachie properly.. :angry: At least Lachie's growing nicely (with the correct measurements!), he's now just over 5kgs (up from 3.1 at birth), and is just over 55cm (up from 47cm at birth) - so based on that I will keep feeding him what he wants, when he wants it - which with some feeds ends up being 150-160mls! :o

I hope that the rest of you are having nice experiences with your midwives/Drs at your visits, because by the time I left my appt on Monday, all I wanted to do was scream!!!!

Clare - no good to hear of your extremely confusing check-up. I think your decision to keep doing as you're doing sounds pretty good to me, especially with that weight gain - go Lachie! I think the paed yesterday measured Lila's length (55cm) a bit too swiftly too

Now a question for all - how often does your baby poo? I know, I'm having a shocker today! Up until last Thursday Lila was doing a big poo once a day ...now we've had nothing since then. I know it's common and not a cause for concern in bf bubs, we're getting lots and lots of big wet nappies and she seems happy enough. Just curious what other bubs Lila's age are doing at the moment...

Lily had her check up yesterday...

weight - 5.52kg (birth - 3.902kg)
length - 59.5cm (birth - 56cm)
head circumference - 39cm (birth - 35cm)

So that's great.

Had a great day with the BB girls. It was nice to go and just hang out and Lily just slept in the carrier when she felt like it, so it was nice.

Lily has had a couple of good stints over the last 2 nights, 6.5hrs last night and 7 the night before. And this morning she let me sleep in till 6.30am! That was so nice! We are going skiing in 2 weeks and she will be sleeping in a little fold out bed thingy, so I have put that in her cot so she can get used to sleeping in it, and it seems to be going well. I just hope that she will take the bottles of EBM during the day while we're down her as she only took about 20ml the other day when I expressed and then wanted boob. I guess if bottle is the only option, she'll have to have it. Although I may be missing her too much to ski all day and end up going in to the day care to feed her anyway.



Jenushka - good to hear that bubba's nose is better with the saline drops. glad to hear that her check up went well too. Bugger with the bleeding, what a pain. Hopefully it will go away soon.

As for the pooing: probably 3-5 times in 24 hours.

CB - That sucks about the midwife. Sorry, you've probably said this before, but are you bf him? Cause if you are, it doesn't matter how much they drink. I don't know about the formula though. And how can she not know how to measure him properly! :wall: Glad to hear that your GP was much better.


Jenushka & Monique - are you free next week on Wednesday? I'm maybe going out to see my Auntie, Cousin and her baby and that's at Cleveland. What time suits you guys? Is 9am too early? Haven't checked it with them, but I think that'll be the day. Will let you know when they have confirmed.

Next Wednesday is fine with me, though I do school run so a 9am meet would mean I'd be a little late.

As for going to sleep; I either cuddle Charlette or I just put her down. If I put her down & she is awake, she likes to be wrapped.

As for the pooping; I am going to talk to the Doctor at our 6wk checkup next week, as I am a little concerned about the lack of it.

Grrrrr - can't make our meet-up on Wed now :( My boss has scheduled my yearly performance review for 9am wed morning. I was offered the choice of 9am or 10am - good that he's being so flexible (lol). It really should have been done before I started mat leave but he never got around to it. Will be good to get it out of the way so that I can just be left alone to enjoy my time off with my bub! Need to play nice so I can get my bonus but my boss really has no comprehension - I am lucky that he agreed to let me do it over the phone as he was really pushing hard for me to come into the city to do it in person. With a 7.5 week old. Suuuure....

Joey and Monique - I hope you still meet up. I WILL make it to the next one!

Day 11 and still no poo from Lila, which is a little disconcerting. I rang 13 health this morning and spoke to a child health nurse. She said this is not completely abnormal but getting to the upper limit of time between poos, and as long as Lila is getting plenty of wet nappies (yep), sleeping well (yep), farting (yep), no hard, tight swollen tummy (nope) and seems happy enough (yep) that there are no underlying issues and we should have a poo from her soon, but stand back because it will be massive! She recommended that if there is nothing within 24 hours to take her to the doctors, so have made an appt tomorrow morning just in case...

Watch out Jenuska! We have had 2 in the past week, each time after going around 4 days without pooing and they have been massive! Last Weds was at a friends house when she did one, Natalya had been wrapped in a blankie wearing a 2 piece outift. When we unwrapped her it was literally up to her nipples and covering her hands everything. We didnt know where to start re cleaning it up!!:lol:

Dont get much time to post, Natalya is a bit unpredictable with her day sleeps but is having a good stint at night - last night from 10-6am!

She is also starting to bring up quite a bit her feeds but for some reason it tends to be after feeding on the right breast which I find quite strange? Anyone else had something similar happen?

AFM - Tried feeding Lily EBM via a bottle yesterday and she won't take a bottle any more. Which would be fine, but we're going skiing in 1.5 weeks and she was going into care during the day. Guess I'll just have to pop in and see her every 2-3 hours. What a shame :dance: I'll leave some EBM with them just incase she wants a feed early and they can try, but I don't like their chances!

She's still sleeping well at night, usually 7 hours, but the night before last was her record 8 hours!! Mind you, she goes to bed around 7, so it only gets me through to 3am. But still not complaining!!

Joey - I've got an appt at Morningside at 10.30 on Wed which makes catching up in Cleveland in the morning a bit difficult. I'm a bit of a pain aren't I?! lol. What about a lunch/ afternoon tea catch up? Tuesday I've got Lila's jabs in the morning so thats out for us too.

Have you had any luck with Lily taking the ebm bottle since you first tried? You must be so excited about your trip away. And 8 hours sleep - wow! Lila's best so far is a 6 hour stretch which was lovely too.

Ang - great to hear from you, hope Natalya's 6 wk check up went well.

afu - well Lila FINALLY did a poo yesterday after 15 days without! In the end I decided to use an infant glycerol suppository recommended by the paed and the GP - I was a bit nervous but Lila was not bothered at all, and after an hour we had a result. We'd tried tummy massage, cycling legs, brown sugar dissolved in water over the last week to no avail! There was a couple of nappies worth but wasn't a big mess because I was standing-by. She still seemed to be happy enough and not in any pain, but was just a little bit grumblier than normal on Thursday night.

We're heading down to the gold coast tomorrow for a seafood lunch at my uncle's place - yum! Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend too

all is good with us. lily got her needles on friday :( and on thursday night she slept 9 hours!! that's her record, but usally it's around 7 hours.

Thank you Joey for reminding me, I have to organise for Natalya to get her needles soon. Cannot believe that it has been 8 weeks already. Makes me a bit sad to tell you the truth as I love little newborn babies.:cry:

DS is a bit sick today, had hig fevers and a funny tummy yesterday and is really lethargic today. I think the next couple of days will be pajama days for us all.

Just back from Lila's immunisations and we both survived ;) The rotavirus vaccine syrup stuff was interesting - didn't have that with ds. She dribbled most of it out but the nurse reassured me that a lot still gets absorbed through the inside of their cheeks. Lila doesn't seem too out of sorts yet which is good.

And she's 2 months old today! I'm with you Ang - seems a bit bittersweet to me, exciting but as this is my last bub a little bit moogy too...

Hope your ds is feeling better, sounds like a pretty good reason to have a pj day - we're big fans of them here!

Hi Ladies,

Has being awhile since I was here.
Not much time on my hands atm for personals.

Charlette is a very smiley, happy bub. The last couple of days she has being slightly unsettled though, I think due to a growth spurt. She is averaging 8-9hrs through the night & feeding 3-4hrly throughout the day. She thoroughly enjoys outside time - the fresh air wears her out. She has discovered both right & left hands now & has put her fingers on her right hand in her mouth a few times! She had her first bath in the "big tub" yesterday - up until then I had being getting away with bathing her in the laundry tub, but now she is too big.
She enjoys chill out time in her cot, tummy time & playgym time. She also loves having a little chat to her Big Sister & Big Brother. She is also enjoying rides in the car.
I need to go make a phone call & book us in for our VERY belated 6wk check up & Charlette's 8wk immunisations :)

Hi Ladies (if there's still anyone around!) - have been mia for a little while. There's def not enough hours in the day...

Can't believe my little miss is 10 weeks old today! We're all going really well, and this week so far Lila has managed a 9 hour stretch between feeds on Sunday night. Last night she went for 9.5 hours between feeds :dance: Hopefully it continues - can't quite believe this after a DS that just fed 3 hours round the clock until he started solids! She had a very unsettled afternoon on Tuesday - screamed pretty much constantly for 4 hours. Wouldn't sleep for longer than 20 minutes at a time and only if I held her, didn't really want to eat and would only stop crying if I walked around the room. I was a wreck by the end! No idea what was wrong, probably a bit too much of everything I guess...

Monique - great to hear your update. Has Charlette had her needles and check-up? Hope they all went well...

Charlette had her needles & checkup Friday just gone (yes I am a slack mumma, missed the 6wk checkup).
She is healthy & thriving just perfectly :)
Now weighing 5.1kg & is 41cm long.
Oral stuff went down good, 1st needle caused a little crying, but the 2nd was the worse & got her screaming.

We have a really quiet group here - or maybe it's just that everyone is soooo busy with their adorable bubs! :)

I think its a combination of both!

Natalya is having her needles this week, she has been a bit sick the past week or so so will see how she is Weds before giving them to her. For a few days she was barely feeding and now we are having problems with her wanting to feed off my breast - I am hoping that when she is 100% better she will like my boob again.:rolleyes: Can be so frustrating when you are willing her to feed and after 5 mins she pulls away.

Other then that she is thriving...had her checkups a couple of weeks ago and weighs 5.26kgs and is 57.5cms long. We get plenty of lovely smiles and she still sleeps from around 10/11pm-6/7am. We are extremely lucky in that regards.:D

Agree that it is a combination of both...if Pia doesn't sleep through the night, this is the only chance I have to check emails, forums, etc, and my brain struggles to put a sentence together ;-)

Pia is doing well...however she struggles to settle herself when first put in the cot. I'm guessing that is not helped by the reflux, the poor thing :(
