    Hi!

b - Nup, I don't usually co-sleep however if he's really unsettled overnight I will...I also usually give him the early morning feed - say 6 or 7am lying down in bed and often we both snooze again!

beata - Hope you got a good nights sleep after an unsettled day...
In regards to flat spots I would get onto it now! We didn't realise with our first and at about 6 or 8 weeks it had really developed - I took him to the hospital physio and they stretched out his neck as he had a big preference for one side and that helped a lot and then we had to make sure we were encouraging him to look the other way anywhere he was put down - bouncer, bed etc It corrected a lot but he still has a bit of an odd shape I notice - but no-one else does! With bubs now I make sure I put him down a different way each time...I haven't had a good look yet to see how it's going - I'll do that when he wakes up though!!

Well, after an unsettled day he actually slept really well last night...settled down nicely after a bath and then fed at about 5pm/10.40/2.50/6.50 - that's the best night so far!! He seemed quite windy through the night feeds but went back to sleep - did some ripper farts this morning though - LOL!

Unfortunately though, I feel like I'm getting sick...I'm a bit annoyed actually - my girlfriends came around the other night and one had had the last 2 days of work with a chest infection!! Wtf?? Then why come to a persons house who not only has a newborn but 3 other little boys and who doesn't want to get sick!!!! Anyway...I guess I can't be sure if I'm getting it from her but chances are...it would have been nice if she let me know and gave me the opportunity to say please don't come over!!
Anyway, I feel all achey and headachey with a sore throat...hopefully it doesn't get too bad though...dh has mon & tue off at least...

    Ok...chat later!

    Evening ladies,

b- i don't co-sleep with Adrian but if he is grizzly after his 6-7am feed i bring him to bed with me and we usually get another our or so, and also if i nap duirng the day i will take him with me. Only during the day though so i can see if his face is clear of blankets etc when i open my eyes. What part of brissie are you in again? Maybe we can meet at a coffee club in the middle somewhere? Anyone else in here a brissie girl?

Krisvee- hope you are not getting sick hun, its the worst. I ended up with a pounding migraine last week and it even hurt to blink and i ended up calling DH and begging him to come home. Panadols wernt working and Adrian screaming in my ear really wasnt helping. Try and get some rest and hope it passes soon

AFM- Adrian seems the same as you guys, lots of cluster feeding where he takes about 300mls in about 3hours, i don't know where he puts it all!!!!!! Its no wonder i keep running out of milk, i think im ok though as i expressed this morning and got 100ml out of one boob!! so i think im only running out because Adrian is drinking more, not because im making less.

Speaking of the little monkey, DH is about to hand him to me for noms so must dash ladies.

    Hugs!

    Hello everyone

I hope you are all well and enjoying your bubs!

I would love to catch up with the Brissy gals next time I am down that way! We usually head down once every month or so.

Does anyone else look at their newborn baby pics and feel sad that the time is going so fast? I wish i could rewind 4 weeks and do it again...feeling as good as i do now instead of super tired, really sore and kinda 'out of it'. I really love the newborn stage....she will be one yr old before i know it!

I went to Maroochydore on Sat and tackled the sunshine plaza with bub and my sister (my dd had a dance workshop on down there). It was great! We had a really relaxing day shopping and i just popped grace on my boob when she was hungry and put a light blanket over my shoulder so no-one could see my boobie! I found some fantastic outfits for her that you just can't get up here. Oh...and pumpkin patch had a big sale on and i got the most GORGEOUS outfit ever for her at 70% off!

krisvee- hope you are feeling better soon!

I must admit i am loving being a mum to a newborn again! (minus the night feeds! lol!)

    Hi Ladies,

    Hope everyone is going well.

Con - I look at Angus and how big he is getting and miss how small he was in the hospital too ... Time is going so quickly, especially because the days are spent sleeping or feeding or just being really tired.

Misssawah - I miss my belly too I miss the all the kicks, the hiccups and just watching it grow. However, I don't miss the last 12 hours - I definately won't be doing that again in a hurry!

Re: DTD - I read the discussion about this the other day and it made me think about it. So that night I tried it - it was great! Actually, this is TMI, but I reached the O, which I haven't done through the whole pregnancy!

Re: Swaddling - I swaddle him sometimes, although he is really fussy about his arms being wrapped as well. Other times I just cover him with a blanket.

I have found that there isn't really a particular way to settle him. Last night I tried eveything to get him to sleep and as soon as I rocked him in the glider chair he fell straight asleep. Three hours later, I tried the same thing and he wouldn't have a bar of it. The minute I got up and walked around the house, he fell asleep straight away

B, sorry to hear your little man is sick I hope he gets better quickly, can't think of anything worse then babies being sick

Mum2B, they're funny like that, I find if I can't settle Harrison the easiest way is to pass him to DP, it's like he has the magic touch or something but Harri will usually fall asleep straight away.

Con, how awesome is Pumpkin Patch! Glad you had a nice day shopping. Pumpkin Patch here is also having a sale and I picked up 3 jumpsuits for $8 as well as the matching gloves to a jumper I bought for him last year that looks like a bear (has the little ears on the hood and all).

Jelly, you'll always have enough milk for your Adrian

Krisvee, hope you don't get too sick...We just had a lot of gastro go through our house. Amazingly Harri didn't get it, although me DP and DSD all did. Not that I'm complaining I'm glad he didn't get it. Luckily it seemed to only last a couple of days and feeling better now.

Beata, my DSD has a big flat spot on one side of her head and a funny shaped ear because her mother didn't change the way she slept and always fell asleep the same way on the same side. So with Harri I've been a bit paranoid about it and have been making sure he sleeps on a different side each time. When he's in his bouncer I put a wrap around his head. So far so good no flat spots and he's good on both sides.

AFM, nothing much happening, except hopefully we'll find out today if we've been approved for a new house so we can move out of our tiny little unit! Really can't wait and the house we're hopefully moving to is wonderful (hello walk in robe!) There is a massive shade cloth that covers half the backyard as well which will be great (it'll be great just to have a yard). Harri has been smiling heaps the last few days, just have to look at him and smile and he smiles back a huge gummy grin, so in love!

Hi to everyone as well and hope you're all well

    Morning girls,

b- sorry to hear your little man isnt well, sending heaps of get well vibes your way. I'm in Bray Park so im cool with catching up if you are. Con, let us know when you are due back in brissie and we can set a date

m2bxx- I cant believe you DTD after only 3 weeks!!!! We are 6 weeks and still counting and im getting a little desperate! good for you! and congrats on the O! LOL!

I also cant get over how big Adrian is getting, and heavy! I dont notice it as much as im with him everyday but nanas and poppas cant stop exclaiming how quickly hes growing. Had him asleep in the basinette this morning and went and got him out just so i could cuddle him while he is still small

AFM- Im a little ****y at my DH- Adrian has taken to having one big long sleep at the start of the night but once he wakes up only sleeping every 1.5 to 2 hours after that and it's driving me barmy. I mentioned to DH that i was thinking of getting a new thicker formula to give him after the breastmilk (only at night tho and just to try) to see if it will keep his tummy fuller for longer so we both get some more sleep and DH says he doesnt like the thought of him being 'artificially' full and would prefer i keep breastfeeding. Thats all well and good for him to say since hes not getting up every 2 hours in increasingly cold weather for an hour at a time and i got quite ****ty with him for his attitude, like i was being lazy about feeding him. I told him my lack of sleep was part of the reason i keep running out of milk and that shut him up. Did i have a right to get angry at him or does he have as much a say as me as to how we feed Adrian?

Anyway, thats my rant, hope you are all doing well, gotta go and fold some laundry

Hi everyone, just a quickie from me but good to see everyone and hear how all the bubs are doing!

B - sending lots of healing & healthy vibes to your little man, sorry to hear he's so sick

I can't remember who was talking about wrapping/swaddling, but our little one hates being swaddled tight, but startles too much when not wrapped. I went and bought a bubbaroo joey swag/sleeping pouch thingy and it is magical - it keeps her wrapped but she can still move about - and I don't stress that she's getting cold through the night. She has got her arm out twice but even then it's only when waking up and I haven't roused enough from my sleep to hear her fussing in her bassinett! We only use it at night time, and she sleeps much better now.

b - i hope ewan feels better soon. we get so many babies and toddlers in at work with bronchiolitis. its nasty. day 3 is the worst day. usually they get better after that. unfortunately it is a precursor for asthma tho so fingers crossed this is the only time he has it.

mum2b - i have to pace the house with Hamish when its time to put him to sleep. i cant bring myself to let him cry until he falls asleep plus after 2 minutes, his crying ramps up to the point he is red in the face with little tears coming from the corner of his eyes. it breaks my heart to see him like that. i am such a big softie tho. i really hope that he will settle soon on his own tho. fingers crossed it s a stage he is going thru. i still wrap him tightly too. he seems to like it.

    hi to everyone else

afm, as i said i have to pace the house to get Hamish to sleep. the little monkey wakes up if i put him in his basinette which means that i have to pick him up again and do the whole process over again usually after a couple of minutes the second or third time he goes straight back to sleep after i pick him up. just means i need to cuddle him for about 10 mns to ensure he is asleep when i put him down. i am really hoping he starts to sleep thru the night soon. would be nice. but he keeps waking up every 4 or 5 hours for a feed. oh well, more cuddles for me
he is such a cheeky monkey tho. when i take the bottle out of his mouth to burp him or he stops sucking, i get the biggest grins from him. it is soooo cute to see. plus i can now put him down on his playmat after a feed (providing he doesnt fall asleep during the bottle) for at least a half an hour now instead of 5 mins. just trying to encourage him to roll over at the moment. he keeps rolling onto his side but cant go any further. its quite funny to watch as he gets so frustrated lol
he had his 2 month injections the other day. it took 2 weeks to get hold of my gp on the phone, and when i did, i found out she was sick so i had to see the locum doctor. he was soooooo rude. he said the injections were late (he was still in the recommended age range 8-12 weeks) and was just plain horrible. so hope i dont see him again!!

b- sounds good, hope Ewan feels better soon, will try the Novalac, nuts to my DH!

Teresa- apparently it takes babies longer to reach REM sleep than adults so if you hold them while they sleep for about 10-20 mins they will more likely stay down when you eventually put them in their cots. I find it works with Adrian if he is having trouble settling, plus i get extra cuddles. Of course that doesnt work if you're trying to self-sooth but i think whatever gets them to sleep works for me LOL!

Did anyone else find that after a few days at home the baby crying didnt bother so much? I used to get so stressed and rush to his side immediately when he cried but now i find i am much calmer and dont get worked up or stressed by his crying, nor do i worry about the kind of mood he will be in when he wakes up anymore. Hopefully this means i am getting better at this whole 'mother' business, either that or im just too tired to feel anymore, LOL

    Hi girls!

B, I'm glad Ewan is feeling better. I'm always paranoid that Cameron will catch something out there, that's the reason why we haven't been out much Most of my friends think I'm a wee hermit with him at home and should be getting out more...

Krisvee, I hope you're feeling better hun, big hugs!

Jelly, why are our DH/DP/DFs so cheeky sometimes! Since Cam gets the bottle only now, my argument is always about us sharing the feeds, day and night. DF refuses to help through the night as that stuffs him up during the day at work. Well hello, I'm stuffed too! I have a couple of friends and their hubbies did the night feeds too, and they worked during the day also! As for the crying thing, it still stresses me out a bit, but not as much as before too.

Con, I found some bargains too at PP! Some of the outfits are just so cute and so cheap!

Mum2BXX, way to go hun!! I had a wee 'O' too the other night, looooooooved it! Re the settling, I agree. You think you're onto something one day and it doesn't work at all the next!! Babies are so unpredictable!

Missawah, Cameron's got a wee flat spot but the health nurse wasn't concerned too much about it today. Basically she said you can't do too much during the night, but to encourage him to lay his head on the side he's got the bump on, and to put him on the side I want him on during play time etc during the day. She said babies turn their heads which ever way the like at 8 weeks..I also use rolled up spew cloths, face washers etc when I want to balance his wee head. Hope you get that big house hun!

HB hi hun!!!! Missed you in here. Thanks for the bubbaroo idea, Cameron is just like your little one, he waves his hands so much I try to pin them down either by swaddling or under a blanket, he gets them out in less than 10 seconds. Hates not being able to move around!

Teresa, sounds like Hamish is doing really well! I've got the injections happening in 2 weeks too, not looking forward to it....

Well, my MCHN app. went well today. I came clean about not b/f anymore, she didn't bat an eye lid, stupid cow. I had my story all prepared I've rehearsed it like a hundred times! lol. He now weighs 5.2 kg and has grown 5 cm since birth. Still find the night feeds hard. Cam has been really funny lately, I put it down to his 6 week growth spurt. He drinks half his bottles sometimes and in turn his routine is all stuffed up. I used to feed him approx. 10.30-11 pm, then at 2.30 am, 5.30-6 am, but now he sometimes gets fed around 9 pm, which means there's a fed at 12.30 am which I stay up for, and then 3-3.30 am and then 7 am. I am soooooo tired! I don't know how some of you do it with b/f AND feeding every 2 to 3 hours!

That's it from me for now, might go to bed soon and make DF stay up for his 11.30 pm shift, ha ha.

    Hi to everyone else!

    Hello everyone!

B, I took Cam out today again to my 6 week post c/s app. with my OB. He was doing OK, until we gave him a feed at a shopping centre where he went ferral after taking only half his bottle. Oh well, I suppose that was bound to happen one day!! I was OK, some people gave me that 'oh you poor thing' look, lol! He didn't sleep much today again, so that's why my munchkin was so over tired.

I am so buggered today for some reason, I got some good rest over night. Sometimes I feel more tired when I have more rest, how does that work??????

    Hi!

Haven't had much time to post...been sick with this cold as have most of the boys...Jaydens done well to avoid it all though thankfully!
He had his mchn visit today and gained over 500g in 2 weeks!! The lady kept asking if I was bfing which said yes and I don't think she believed me...silly woman...I'm just glad he's going well..
Had a few more smiles which is just gorgeous but he makes me work hard for them! He's broken out with all his little milk spots at the moment...all my boys got that quite bad and he's hair's started receding...I always think of this time as their transition between newborn and just a little baby...it really is going so fast!! I now have pangs of being sad that this is the last time rather than just usually being glad it's the last time - hehehehe...
Super tired...I'm sorry for not writing personals...I will endeavour to keep up - just hard to catch up sometimes - looking after 4 little boys has me feeling a bit drained by the end of the day!

    Chat later!

Hi lovelies! I have been keeping up to date with the posts, but just never had a second to reply.

~b~ - hope that Ewan is on the mend, poor little soul! Love the pics on FB - he has such cute chubby cheeks and really looks like his sis!

krisvee - hope everyone is on the mend. Fraser broke out in bad milk spots, all over his face, neck, chest and head. He kept scratching them and making them bleed. A friend told me to try sorbolene and it works wonders - the cleared almost instatly!

beata - hope all well with Cam - he's probably going through his 6 week growth spurt. Fraser went through an awful 4 day period then when he would only take 40-50 mls of his bottle, and was ready for next feed every 60-90 mins through the night. It was awful! Hope you don't have it that bad!

Hi to everyone else - I can't remember further back than there!

As for us, we're going pretty good guns! Had a check-up with the paed to look at Fraser's sacral dimple on Tuesday and glad to say that it is completely closed over so should not give him any problems until he is older! Phew - that's a relief! Especially when we were told that it could mean Spina Bifida (although he's great at weeing and his legs move the way they are supposed to). We got a referral for an Ultrasound just to make sure all the bones are fine - I'll breathe a sigh of relief when we have been for that. We also got a referral to a Baby Physio as he's preferring to lie on one side. The few days before our appt, he wasn't turning his head to the left at all, but the paed stretched it out and he's been a bit better since then. Had n appt at the CHN yesterday and he's up to 4.6 kg which is great, considering he was so small!
We did have a 2 and a half our awake time through the night last night which wasn't ideal, but if it only happens once or twice a week, I can handle that! He's almost going 4 hours straight between feeds and it makes such a difference to get that little bit longer sleep in one period. Still expressing what I can get and giving formula for the rest and we're also on daily prunce juice (at the advice of the midwife, my doc and paed) to keep him regular as it was 3 days between poos, and he was most def constipated, as it was a dry little pile when it came out.

Anyway, enough rambling. Hope everyone is well! x

hi everyone, just a quick post from me as I'm on all day cuddles with my little man today.

He had the big snip today, it was so sad poor fella. It's what DP and I want but at the same time it wasn't nice hearing squeal. having said that though he was a very brave boy and he's happy again now. He's also up to 4.6kg!! 500g in a week (although he was weighed directly after he'd had a feed so that would have upped it a bit)

Hope everyone is going well, all the 6 week checks are coming up if they haven't already so I hope all the bubbies do really well and pass with flying colours.

Hi everyone! Hope everything is going ok, I have been reading all the posts but have been so busy I didnt have any time to post!

I am feeling so much better, had an u/s and the retained products are mostly gone so continuing with antibiotics and going for another scan next week. I am really shocked at how different everything is now it is settled down, I was obv struggling so much... but I thought it was normal. Now I know it really wasnt.

I am so in love with my little girl... this mummy thing is amazing She has started smiling at me when I get her from her bassinette ... oh it makes my freaking day! And too my suprise I just love breastfeeding her, my DP thinks I am going crazy, but when she falls asleep on the boob it is so nice.... I had said I would stop at 6 months, and I think I am going to find that harder than I thought.

Oh and no DTD for us yet. I want to soon, but it is such a scary thought after all the carnage down there. One of DP's friends described watching his partner in labour as "Like watching his favourite pub burn down" - ok not very nice but man I laughed!
