Another one already organizing the party. :)
Planned it all out, just need to pick a venue. I have to keep reminding myself it's her party not mine haha
Someone in our house is very fond of the word "no". Apparently it is pronounced "nooooooooooo" and must be said with a scrunched up little face and a finger pointed on my face. Doesn't help that I think it is cute and laugh at her!

Haha that's funny. No is said loud and clear here! Ooookay! Is a fave too.
She amazes me what she comes
Out with sometimes. She knows all the Mickey mouse characters now and points them out in her book and on the tv when it's on and says their names. She's Mickey mouse clubhouse crazy. That's her party theme.
She has a habit of losing her dummies so walks around crying saying "where is it?" over and over again until she or I find it.
Has anyone attempted or started to think about toilet training yet? I don't think she is ready just yet, perhaps in a few months tho - it scares the hell out of me!

Oh and I've been planning it since she was 18mo!! I love it so much - I want it to be my "thing"! To be the mum who makes awesome cakes and throws them awesome parties. Prob cos I never had that myself!

no to the 2nd bday party! we will only know one set of friends when we move so they will probably come up from albury for the day to help us celebrate. there is a park right across the road from our new house so i figure we will just go over there so the boys can play on the swings and stuff.
we have started toilet training here. only because hamish keeps pulling his nappy off and wont keep it on! he has worn jocks a few times now. i dont want to fully commit to training him due to the move so its more of a casual get to know the toilet and jocks thing here. he will go if you ask him, and will sit on the toilet but hasnt done anything on it yet. tho one day we couldnt find him, and went looking for him, found him sitting on the toilet, nappy on, doing a poo. then the other day found him with a pee at his feet in front of the toilet! so he gets the idea of what to do just hasnt done it in the toilet yet. tho his shaun the sheep got the royal flush the other day! thank god it was just water and nothing else in there

Jeez we didn't even really plan Dude's first birthday party, slack lol! That was my fault though, my cricket grand final ended up on the day we had set aside for his birthday, so all of our mates just came to my grand final and had a birthday picnic while we kicked arse!

Haven't even thought about the 2nd birthday. We're in the process of selling our house so we can build - we have no idea where we will be in 3 months time!
We got on well with the Development Paediatrician. He said Fraser is actually ahead in some categories, and pretty spot on with the others, so nothing to worry about (thank goodness)! Fraser has had a cough for about 4 to 5 months now and after countless trips to the doctor, this paediatrician said he thinks it could be asthma. We're trialling a Ventolin inhaler to see how we get on with it.
-
Mia, that's fantastic to hear about Fraser's developmental paed appointment! Hope the Ventolin inhaler works for him. We will go to see a developmental paed in March (I made an app. to this one a while ago on a friend's recommendation) but his regular paed sent a referral to this other place in Feb, it's a total of 4 or 5 appointments all up and then the developmental person takes up to 8 weeks to write her reports and sends them back to Cam's regular paed. The whole process seems a bit drawn out to me. If Cam needs help in any area I'd like to get him started asap. Maybe the paed we'll see in March will be able to assess him there and then.
-
Miss.B - I hope that Cam's appointment goes well. I really, really do, as I know how you feel. This paed just basically asked us everything to do with Fraser, at what dates he did them and all about his health, and he sat him down with toys to see how he interacted with them. I must say, he was being particularly extrovert on this day and decided to start saying words he had never done before! We know he has always been a climber and good at building and he was on the 22 month scale for those, and pretty much bang on for words. He said to us to never let ourselves be judged and if they play nicely by themselves and can tolerate others, then basically all is well and not to worry. Hoping that the Ventolin works - we have had morning starts as early as 3.30 cos he coughs and can't get back to sleep, but I am hoping that moving house may help - it's maybe just coincidence, but around the same time the cough started, we got new neighbours who smoke at the side of the house Fraser's bedroom is at, and also we put in a new kitchen generating a lot of dust!
-
Thanks Mia. I really hope his app. goes well too. I have been so stressed about it for so long I now have so many more grey hairs :( The things is there are so many things that he does that don't tick the boxes for any of the disorders but then there are some quirky things that he does that puzzle me. His speech is pretty much non existant, just mum, dad, ta and baba (he calls his gran baba) and lots and lots of babble. He doesn't say yes or no, but shakes his head no when he doesn't want something. He just likes to take my hand and takes me where he wants to go (still a bit wobbly on his feet but walking heaps on his own now, no running yet). He plays on his own OK, but sometimes doesn't show much interest in other kids. He'll watch them from afar but then when they come close he pretty much ignores them????? Anyway I could go on and on but I really need to see someone that can just watch him do things and tell me if there is an issue.
Sounds like the dust in the kitchen could be a culprit ;)

I would think (by what the paed said) that Cam is pretty spot on. Fraser doesn't even say mama to me but he does to other things. From what I can gather, they judge it more on imaginative play. For instance, Fraser grabbed a car, then run it along the edge of the desk then brought it over to me and ran it along my leg, then to DH's leg. Paed said that shows imaginative play. I must say, I was really worried about Autism or something, but he basically said at this age, they would be completely unresponsive to anything, never mind questions, and that he wasn't showing any signs of it. I can only tell you what he said but he did seem very clued up on his specialist subject. He told us about specialists coming into his kids' schools and sending reports saying that they needed to see a specialist for this, that and the other, but they err on the side of caution so that someone doesn't sue them for not picking up that the child isn't doing a certain thing on a certain day. He said he knows his kids are fine and that's all he's concerned about. He was so lovely and gentle with Fraser and made us feel very at ease. I hope you have the same experience, and don't let anyone other than a specialist tell you that there us anything wrong. I must say, he said the taking you to show you things is a definite sign that all is well - it's just a communication barrier, so I hold out every hope for you!
Yes, I agree, I am feeling very guilty about the dust from the kitchen. Although I was very vigilant with cleaning, it may not have been enough and that makes me feel awful. I guess all will be revealed when we move. It breaks my hear to hear him coughing like he does.
-
beata - hamish also grabs my hand and takes me where he wants to go! if he wants to go outside, he takes me to the door and puts my hand up towards the latch so i can unlatch it for him. i really hope cam's appointment goes well for you!
mia - so glad frasers appointment went well for you!
-
Oh Mia, I didn't mean to make you feel awful about the dust from the kitchen hun! It's probably something totally different or a combination of things, as I'm pretty certain you would do a fantastic job with the cleaning to avoid too much dust in the air. I'm sorry for my stupid mouth! Didn't mean it to come out like that! Thanks for sharing what your developmental paed said hun, it's very reassuring. Cam doesn't do too much imaginative play but is pretty interactive with us. I have to say that I have researched Autism and other disorders so much I could write a book on the damn topic! Hence my grey hairs! lol. I sort of stopped now as I get too upset and then I feel silly and guilty for even looking on the net. Sounds like the developmental paed was awesome with Fraser and had a really lovely bedside manner. The one we see in March is apperently like this too, he really cares about the kids and even makes personal calls to them! I just don't know if it's worth for me to take Cam to the other lady in Feb who we'll have to wait for aaaages to get a report out of. Hmmmmm, will have to think about that one..
Teresa, thanks hun :) I will keep you updated on our journey.

Miss B - Dont feel guilty for wanting to make sure he is ok! I know it is hard though, we took Tiah to a paed a while ago becuase she was doing this weird blink and staring off into space. He sent her for an EEG and I felt so guilty the entire wait for results because there was a tiny (an awful and tiny) part of me that hoped something would come up because it would explain her sleep issues. I was so relieved when we got the all clear though. If it helps at all, the Paed told me that if they are interacting with you, doing their own little quirky things to get our attention, make us laugh or get their own way, then they are usually not Autistic because they are developing socially. (That is not exactly what he said, just what I can remember lol)
Mia - Yay for Frasers appointment! Sounds like that is one awesome Dr!
Rach - We tried TT, I was strong, Daddy sucked at it and was no help, and when I stepped on a poo she had hidden under a towel in my loungeroom I called it quits for a while! She has a little buddy that visits a lot and he is nearly toilet trained, so I am hoping she will try and copy him soon?
Hi everyone else! Hope everyone is doin well with all our toddlers :)
Tiah is FINALLY starting to settle into a more friendly sleep pattern. I put my foot down and put her in the toddler bed because I realised she was relying on me laying in bed with her to get to sleep. I also cut out anything other than sleep in her room. No stories. No songs. I just sit by her bed and hold her hand (While I play Monopoly on the ipad, I am getting pretty good) and within an hour she is asleep. Then she wakes up maybe twice before I let her into bed with me. We leave for Sydney on Wed, and after we get back I am going to harden up and make her stay in there all night. I cannot believe the change in her though, she grabs her little teddy and her sooker, hops into bed and starts yawning and blinking straight away! I think all the extras like stories and singing and stuff was confusing her about the fact that it is BEDTIME DAMMIT!
Now to teach Daddy that playing tickles or jumping on the bed isnt conductive to sleepy time..... I am sure he does it on purpose so I end up taking over. :wall:
Anyone else got a picky eater? Tiah will only eat "Bix" (Wheatbix), Tinned Peaches, Yoghurt, Chocolate (Thanks Grandma) and "Pippees" (Chips). I actually considered using the starving kids in africa line the other day, I am wasting so many vegetables at the moment. :(
-
Indy is definitely not a picky eater, if he sees us eating it he grabs it and eats it, too! He's very good with his veg and fruit, though he does like chocolate and chips lol.
Good luck with Cam Beats, I'm sure he's fine and just doing it in his own quirky way!
Hi everyone else :)

Meercat, thanks hun. Some days I feel like I'm being too paranoid and worry too much for maybe nothing, but I can't shake the feeling that something might be amiss. Lately he has been saying so much more geebrish it's like he's practicing for when he'll just start talking out of nowhere. He's making so many new sounds and sometimes he'll say something and then look at me like he's telling me something except I have no idea of what he's saying! It's cute though :) And yes, we have a very fussy eater now. He used to eat anything and everything but a month or so ago he stopped eating half the food he used to. I have noticed though that he's got 4 new teeth coming through, including the eye teeth so I think that's part of the problem. He also does not let me brush his teeth (always been like this) he'll use the brush himself but only play with it and bite it so not really brushing them. And he also ends up in our bed at some point during the night, it's very rare he sleeps all night in his room (he did last night, thank goodness!). He usually wakes once during he night and I just bring him to bed with us and he goes off to sleep straight away. Daddy used to stir him up before bed, tickling and throwing him into the pillows etc which made him come alive before bedtime but I put my foot down with this and now he watches a bit of the Night Garden and then teddy dummy and bed. He usually relaxes with the bit of night time DVD and goes off to sleep without much hassle. I'm sure Tiah will settle with her sleep soon hun, I have a friend who's little man only settled properly around 2. Have fun in Sydney!!
HC, thanks hun :) Can you get Indy to call Cam and tell him to start eating his food again? lol.
Hello to all the lovely ladies out there, so glad you guys are still around! :)
-
Beata - of course I didn't think you meant anything by what you said about the dust from the kitchen! Don't be silly!!!! :) That's the problem with the internet in general - you never know what way someone is going to take something! It sounds like Cam is coming on well - let's just hope you don't need that appointment. Is there any way you can book in with both of them?
Meercat - yay for an improvement in Tiah's sleep routine! I'm sure that now you are well on your way, you will crack it no problem when you get back from Sydney. Enjoy your trip!
Rooey - Fraser is the same - whatever we are having, he'll have a good go on it!
Yip, we have a very fussy eater here at the moment also! Fraser's eye teeth are through but I think the very back molars are on their way and although he doesn't seem in pain, he seems uncomfortable in his mouth. I still feel he has a few issues with his tongue - I don't think it's still tied, but he seems to thrust it quite a bit when he eats lumps. Anyway- could just be another thing to add to the list of woes, so not stressing about it. I can always find something he will eat - usually a big bowl of corn and pear or a four bean mix - he loves anything like that. And he can take or leave the rest when he fancies! I refuse to stress about his eating.
Hi to everyone else! Hope you are all doing well!

Hi Ladies,
Wow I haven't posted in here for so long. I used to check every now and then, but then I forgot and I never got any updates to my email account. I'm a bit too tired to go back and look at all the posts to do personals, but I'll do subjects instead...
Paediatrician - That's good that some of you went to a Paed. We should take Angus too, do you need a referral? I am worried about basically most of the things you listed. Angus doesn't have many words except for Mim (me) Da (Dad), Ta, No... Sometimes he sounds like he is trying to say things, like when we tell the dog "down". Also, he plays nicely with others most of the time, but he can be a bit aggressive if someone takes something from him. He will chase them down, grab the thing he wants and sometimes bites! Maybe that's something he's learned to stick up for himself in our playgroup because he is the youngest one there. It's funny, all the other Mums say to their LO's "Don't mess with Angus, he'll get you"..
Sleep – wow, it must be really difficult for the ones who aren’t sleeping through/have trouble getting to sleep. Angus is still in the same routine for his night sleeps as he has always had. Sometimes he cries for a little while, but not much, and he has his music on. I’m not sure what it will be like when he goes into a toddler bed. Angus occasionally wakes during the night, but we just put the music on (through the monitor) and he will go back to sleep. Although the other night, he wouldn’t and I didn’t want to bring him into our bed, because I have enough trouble trying to get the sleep, so I made DH go down and sleep in the single bed that is in Angus’s room. By 4am he came he put Angus back into the cot and came to bed because Angus kept kicking the wall etc..
As for us, Angus is driving me insane when we leave the house… He refuses to go into the pram and then he constantly runs off. I have one of those harness things and I really should use it. The other day I took him to one of those play centres, but had to go to the ATM to get money out. While I was doing that, he ran over to the play centre and I ended up leaving $50 in there because I was distracted. I didn’t realise until I went to pay! Shopping is such a task too – he pulls everything off the shelves and rips open the packaging..
Christmas – does everyone have their holidays planned out? We told everyone last year that we would have this one at our house, but so far it’s my Mum, DH’s parents + the 4 step children. It should be good though and although every bed in the house, plus a few mattresses will be in use, it won’t be too overcrowded. The kids will be more into the unwrapping this year I think, so it should be fun!
Oh and we are expecting another addition to our family in July next year. It’s still early days, but we have a scan next week, so I think I will feel a bit more relaxed after that.
Well I hope everyone is going well and I will try to look in more! :D

Congrats on the jelly been Nat! Indy can be a pain when we're out, too. I love going to Mum's because I can leave the back door open and he'll play outside for ages! We can see the whole yard from the kitchen so it's easy to make sure he's not up to too much trouble lol.

Yes, you need a referral to see a paediatrician - you can get one either from the doctor or the CHN.
