Hey everyone :)
Mia that sounds sooooo scary! But gave me a chuckle that he started singing when you arrived - so glad to know he's on the mend. And it sounds and looks like Fraser can get everywhere and everything he needs fine without walking so why on earth would he?! It's annoying when people say 'aww they're not such and such yet' isn't it. He'll be up and on the go in no time I'm sure!
Beata yay for Cam crawling, bet he'll be on the move soon too. Glad he hasn't caught too many bugs, the hot shower is a good tip, might keep that one ;)
We're pretty good here, DD has full glue ear in both ears, completely blocked, and whilst it in itself isn't too concerning (we're keeping an eye on her hearing and so far it seems unaffected) but does make her more prone to ear infections. We're on the 4th or 5th for the year now :( And every other vax she's been fine, but the MMR gave her high temps for a week and she was miserable. Never seen her like it, it was awful. It's so hard to know when she's not well (apart from after that shot) as she rarely runs a temp, pulls her ears, goes off food etc that I often feel lost and find I'm running to the GP more to have her ears checked. More often than not she has an infection so I guess my radar pings something. Many more infections and I think we have to see a specialist. Shall wait and see what happens.
She is SO testing my patience at the moment too. And as her walking picks up speed to running (with zero turning ability!!) she's started to race away from us too. Who would have thought 'ta' could be said so loudly on repeat, and I'm starting to understand all the different 'ta's' she says too lol

HB, big cuddles for Arlie too :) I can understand the helplessness you feel when they are sick, particularly with a temp :( Just a question hun, how common is the glue ear in babies/toddlers? I often worry when Cam has this huge chunk of earwax in the ear and I try to prod in there and get it out :o

Dont worry ladies, there is a little boy in Tiah's playgroup who is 18 months old and still only walking on his knees. It doesnt matter HOW they get around as long as they do :) This little guy actually overtakes all the walkers when they all go for the same toy!
We are talking Tiah to a chiro next week to see if they can help with her sleep. I have been heating her room each night and got her night wakings down to three times, but I would love to cut it to one or even none!
She is super cute now though. Just put her to bed and as she was falling asleep she turned over to me, took out her dummy and said "shisses???" and kissed me on the cheek. I just love her :)

Thanks Beata - I do say that they do it in their own time, but I sometimes wonder if I'm trying to convince myself! Thanks for the tip about the shower also! I often put on the vaporiser but Fraser doesn't normally sleep very well with that on, so hot shower steam may be the answer! Hope you're still enjoying a glass of vino - I am!
Thanks Dianne - he can get around everywhere he needs to! I hope Arlee is on the mend soon. Poor little love - glue ear is not pleasant at all. Fantastic to hear that her hearing hasn't been affected though! I'm with you on not knowing when they are not well - I feel like we haven't been away from the docs lately. May be worth seeing a specialist just in case - never does any harm! I know when the docs made a big deal about Fraser's hernia that we were scared to see the specialist, but when we did, he said it was nothing! Glad to hear Arlee is having fun running around and hope she learns to turn soon! I had a flick through your photos today and they are gorgeous - especially loved the ones at Hillary's (just down the road from us)!
Yeah, it was funny when he started singing on the way to the hospital. I was so embarrassed to be taking a child, who I felt was sick enough to be in hospital, but who was actually singing and laughing - just shows you what Nurofen can do! The doc said though that the lethargy was obvious even through the singing!

Aww - Tiah sounds sooooo cute! Fraser randomly blows kisses which are adorable, but that is super cute! Good luck with the chiro - I really hope sleep starts happening for you soon, Jess. I can't even begin to explain how much respect I have for you, getting through with sleep deprivation. I love how you are always positive and really hope things improve soon!

Ok ok, so Cam doesn't say any words except for mum and yum, lol, and he doesn't blow kisses, BUT, he will pucker up with full mouth open when I say kiss mummy! lol

Aww, Beata - another thing Cam will do in his own time. I bet ya there are heaps of things Cam does that the other bubs don't! I have always been super affectionate with Fraser since day one (much to other's dismay) and I think that's why he's so keen to blow kisses. He also initiates hugs (or huggles) most of the day. He started Day Care a few weeks back (one day a week) and one of the girls said he gives the best hugs she has ever had! They are just the best!
Oh, by the way, have you decided to TTC? No need to answer, just thought I'd let you know I was thinking of you!
Isn't it great that there have been lots of posts today! I'm super excited!
Oh - just wanted to add that we joined the library today. F loves books - I spend most of the day reading to him, but I think I underestimated the power of the library. He went NUTS! Started pulling all the books out of the shelves and there was a lady trying to read to her son - well, F decided he wanted in on the action and was trying to climb up on her knee. She wasn't very receptive to his "need" but it didn't stop him! He had a great time. We came home with 9 books, all of which we have read 3-5 times already!

Beata whilst I don't think it's common (glue ear) I don't think it's uncommon either. The fluid builds up behind the ear drum, so you can't actually see it. I have been told they can have waxier ears but so far haven't seen any in DD's ears. The GP did a pressure test on both her ears, a machine that blows a small amount of air into the ear and tests the reaction of the ear drum. A normal ear will have a wavy line/movement on the print out. Both her ears were a dead flat line. No movement at all :( He is really pushing the 'she's probably half deaf/that's why she talks so loud/should get it checked out' angle, but then our normal GP who is fairly low intervention says keep an eye on it, it could rectify itself, and if we don't feel her hearing is affected then see if it clears up on it's own. We are both fairly low intervention ourselves, but many more ear infections and I think we will go to a specialist just to be sure.

Sorry to hear about sick bubba's!!! My bigger boys have been getting a bit sick so I've kept Jayden having a morning breastfeed - keep saying I'll wean but I may just wait until we get through winter! It's no big deal because I lov ehaving cuddles with him in the morning anyway!
Jayden's well - VERY cheeky though...but so gorgeous! He's not talking heaps but he loves cars and birds - oh and his brothers - he gives them big hugs and kisses...

Sounds like a lot of sick bubbas. Ear infections are the worst, Matilda has had two and she just screams constantly!
Don't worry about the kids not walking yet. One of my friends, all of her three kids didn't start until after 19 months. Nothing wrong with them, they just start when they are ready. In saying that I am glad Matilda is walking just because I can't carry two kids!
Meercat - I feel for you about the sleeping issue. I am up twice a night again and it has rocked me getting used to that. So don't know how you have done it. Good luck at the chiro.
Beata, good luck with the TTC. I have a few friends that are preggies now, that were preggies before with me.
Kristie, I an see your point with the BF in the morning still. Too cold to get up!!
Annabelle is going well. She is a month old in 2 days - already. It is funny, if I am sitting out with the monitor and Annabelle is crying and Matilda hears here, she walks up to me and goes Shhhh, shhhh. It is hilarious.

beata - i was in pumpkin patch a few weeks ago before Hamish started walking and the lady in there said that her two boys didnt start walking until they were 18 months old! Cam will surprise u one day and just take off when you are least expecting it!
jess - i hope the chiro works for you with tiah!
afm, well now that Hamish can walk he just climbs up on everything. now he can get up on the kitchen chairs so if i am sitting down on one and get up to go do whatever, he runs straight to it and climbs up then starts playing with the laptop. going to buy him a kids laptop tomorrow and see if that diverts his attention a bit! he now also doesnt ever want to go in his pram anymore. i bought one of those harnesses and its been great. allows him to walk everywhere now. tho DH is away at the moment and says that when he gets back we are going out to buy a stroller so he will go in that. i am like he wont get in the pram what makes u think he will get into the stroller :rolleyes:
Hamish has cut his two canines now. looks like the bottom two will pop thru soon then that leaves the 2 year old molars. i hope they are fuss free too when they come thru! i am also not having to rock Hamish to sleep much now. he is too busy laughing at me so i just put him in his cot, he winges for around 30 secs then goes quiet. also on one nap a day now so i am now getting up at 630am just to shower before he wakes up. i get so tired some days. oh well i dont mind.

Well we had Tiah's appointment today. It was so hard. She was not happy about laying on her tummy on the bed and screamed and cried for mama the entire time. I am ashamed to say I cried and begged the lady to stop... Instead of being strong for Tiah :( lucky DP came along, he held Tiah and snapped me out of it each time I started crying and made me talk to her to calm her down.
The lady tells us that she had three trapped nerves, that together would affect her sleep, cause her to wake screaming and always be pretty sweaty. All these things apply to her! She also said Tiah would probably do a big poo when we got him and as soon as we walked in the door she retreated to her corner and proceeded to do her poo face! Lol
She is sleeping now, so here's hoping I didn't put her through that for nothing and she gets a decent block of sleep tonight (even three hours would be amazing!)
Tiah hates her pram as well now, and the stroller, and the trolley. I put her heaviest shoes on (light up sketchers.. So cute) so she can't run away! Haha

I lay with Tiah until she is asleep, then sneak out (she is on a mattress but in her own room)
We also took her shopping for her sheets and blanket and made a big deal about her new bed and that is where she goes "Nuna byes". Now when I ask her if it is time nuna byes she trots off to her room and climbs into bed!
(she still is not the best sleeper... But 100% now she has her own sleeping space. When I bring her into bed with me she wakes so much more)

Hi everyone :)
I hope everyone is going really well. We were going to do another round of IVF in May, but as soon as my AF arrived I chickened out and we decided to go on an overseas trip instead. My Mum and SF are in Europe at the moment and have a car and caravan, so we booked our tickets to Warsaw and our from Paris four weeks later. We camped along the way in between and all had a great time. Angus loved being outdoors and even enjoyed sleeping in his KinderKot bed. We went to 8 countries - so Angus is a very well travelled little boy as well as a very cultured one - he's been to the Science and Technology museum in Germany, the Lourve in Paris and the Palais of Versailles, among lots of others. I know he won't remember any of it, but at least we have lots of photos, including one of him next to the original Mona Lisa picture.
He did really well while we were over there, I think mainly because of all the stimulation. On our first night in Paris, he stayed up until 1 in the morning and as DH was pushing him around in the pram he was pointing, saying "ohhh" and rocking in his pram, saying "go, go" whenever DH stopped. He's a real adrenaline junkie!! But he's had a bit of trouble adjusting being back at home and I think he has his day/night mixed up. It probably doesn't help that I haven't been doing much with him during the day (outside) because I am so tired myself and DH has gone away for work this week. Oh well, it's only been 2 days so it should get better soon.
Miamunchkin - yes, I love how their personalities are really coming out. Angus is a real Aries - loves being the centre of attention, curious about the world and a bit of a daredevil. He is also such a larikin and loves to crack up and himself. This morning I bought him into bed with me and he has this new trick of pulling his all in one suit open and tries to undress himself. I was laughing at him and he started laughing to and jumping up and down, but then he fell back and hit his head on the wall - he just got back up and started laughing again. He's always got bruised on his face somewhere - people must think I am such a bad mother, but he is just a real boof head!
Rooey - I hope you've worked out your sleep arrangements. We've never had Angus in bed with us to sleep (I was too scared to sleep myself whenever he was in our bed). However, he is in his portacot in our room at the moment because a few days before we went overseas his monitor stopped working and I need to get a new one. His room is downstairs and we can't hear him otherwise.
Teresa - Angus hates being strapped into anything, weather it be the stroller, trolley, carseat or highchair. He's not too bad in the stroller though, as long as we are going somewhere and there are interesting things to look at. When we were overseas he learnt how to escape out of that though, but squeezing his arms under the straps and pushing himself up with the footrest. We were going to get a harness, but I can just imagine him constantly throwing himself on the ground and refusing to move (which is what he does now when I try to lead him anywhere). Angus does the climbing thing too and we used to have a bookshelf in the dining room until one day I came out of the bathroom and found him on the floor surrounded by books after he pulled down one of the shelves.:o
31bec - That is so cute that she says "shh". You must be really exhausted with having another little one, but is Matilda pretty relaxed? I sometimes think it's like having 3 kids with Angus, he is so full on at times - not clingy or naughty, just needing 120% attention and stimulation. We're thinking of starting him in childcare soon for at least one day, even if I don't go back to work before #2. He would really benefit from the socialisation and stimulating environment. Plus, he just wears me out so much sometimes!
Meercat - I hope everything is better with Tiah now.. It must have been really had for you too going though all that :hug:
Miss B - Angus doesn't really say any words either. He just says the same as Cam, and points at everything saying "ohhh" and "ahhh", as well as doing some babble. I think generally girls are faster to learn speech??? I'm not really looking forward to Angus learning to talk actually, because I know he won't stop and I'm a bit auditory sensitive (with too much noise, I get really stressed).
Oh well, I just noticed that I've written a bit of a novel!!:D

Nat82 - Sounds like Angus is a very privileged little man. Good on you for doing the trip - sounds as if you have had a fantastic time. Are you planning on doing IVF soon?
I laugh at you talking about Angus throwing himself down - Fraser has really only started walking this week (fully) and I can't wait to see the tantrums, etc, - they have been such a long time in coming. I really feel as I have missed out with Fraser taking so long to walk and was genuinely thinking he had major problems due to his sacral dimple, but we got there in the end, so looking forward to the "walking" tantrums, if you know what I mean!
We're getting a few more words now - more related to food! We get "more" when the food has run out. We also get a variation on "very clever" when all food has been eaten!

Good to hear from your ladies! And good to know our little munchkins are growing up......ahhhhh, the babies are well and truly gone! lol
Mia, yay for Fraser walking! Then he starts running haha! My wee lad is still not interested in walking yet......he turned 17 months 2 days ago. He walks along furniture quite well, but doesn't really stand up on his own yet or walk by himself. He's just started to let go of one piece of furniture (provided it's close enough) and lathes on to something else. We went to the paed 5 weeks ago as I was concerned with his arm flapping and leg kicking (while in the high chair, or sitting down on the floor or couch UNLESS he's distracted with food or an object). The paed said he's just expressing emotions with his arms/legs, but deep down I just don't buy it (I wish I did!). I've also called the MCHN and told her of my concerns and she told me that it all sounds normal but I'm still worried. She said she'll have a look at him at his 18 month check up but I'm thinking of having him assessed anyway. The paed also said that he should be walking within 6 to 8 weeks (it's been 5 weeks.....hmmmmm) so we'll see. He said to keep an eye on him and if I'm still worried to come back in 6 months.
Nat, wow, Angus is very well travelled isn't he? I'm glad you've all had a good time. So far Cam's been to China and Hamilton Island :)
Thanks Teresa and Bec, I guess I'm not that worried about Cam not walking yet, it's just that he's been so late with everything I get myself all worried and worked up. How are your lovely kidlets?
How is everyone else? I'm glad this tread came alive again!
AFM, we are going to QLD in 4 weeks for 8 days, it should be nice. We're going with a friend couple of ours and their kids. We are also planning a cycle in Nov. this year so I'm trying to mentally prepare myself. DF is still not working so it's nice to have him home, but he will look for work soon. We are also looking to buy a house so have been crazy busy doing that!

hi ladies
nat - i ended up getting a new stroller for Hamish and he seems to like it. i also have a harness which we put on him sometimes. he loves walking around. we have had a few tantrums with him in it but we just pick him up or walk off and that gets his attention!
beata - Hamish really doesnt talk either. he said dog yesterday but mostly its just baby babble with some words thrown in every now and then like no and dont :lol: i honestly think he is far too busy trying to work out in his brain how things work and studying them then talking!
hope everyone else is good. nothing much new here other then we are being posted at the end of the year and are off to wagga in NSW. a bit excited about that!

How is everyone going?
Tiah is still like the energizer bunny... She is down to a one hour nap in the middle of the day and then up all night still. I have come to the conclusion she will never need sleep so we are saying stuff it and ttc #2. We were going to wait until she was three... But if the next one is the same and doesn't need sleep I might as well be up with both of them!
We are right in the thick of toddler tantrums as well now... Had my first experience of her laying on the floor of target screaming. Why? Because I wanted to look at the toys and she wanted to look at nail polish lol

hey everyone
no more babies for us (at least not in the foreseeable future). we are moving to wagga wagga in january so have been busy planning for that!
Hamish is doing well. speaking more and more. sometimes he says clear words and other times he doesnt. he knows what we are saying to him and understands us but just doesnt talk back most times. i am not too worried. what is everyone else's little ones doing?

Hi ladies,
I'm glad to see everyone and their LOs are doing well. It's funny how a dormant thread just comes to life suddenly! lol. We (well I actually) have been going through a bit with Cam, as he is still quite delayed with most things and that is really starting to worry me now. He has just started to walk unaided a week ago. He is still only saying mum and dada and lots of words we don't understand, so lots of sounds but not real words. I had an 18 month check up and asked the nurse to do an assessment on him as I suspect that something else is going on. She did the test and was concerned, so we got referred to a developmental pediatrician (we have to wait till March 2012!) . He doesn't point and sometimes it's like talking to a brick wall, not much response from him, but other days he's quite responsive. I know he can understand a lot but can't communicate yet. He waves bye bye but that's pretty much it. My DF doesn't seem to be worried but I am losing the plot slowly. My gut feeling is that something is not quite right. I take him to a gymbaroo type class called kidz can, and he doesn't seem to be as responsive as the other kids. I had that problem at gymbaroo, when during story time and when they called out his name he hardly ever responded. This class is a bit longer and they have a lot more 'free' play so he enjoys it more. We ended up taking him to his normal pediatrician and he said that he's too young to assess now, and referred us to an assessment person in February. He doesn't seem to think there's anything big to worry about, but has agreed that he sometimes seems to disassociate a bit from things. Cam was actually a lot more responsive during that consultation than with the MCHN!
Anyway, enough from me, I think I have lost 10 years off my life firstly googling things and secondly worrying about what may come.

PS On the TTC thing, I was excited to do another cycle this month but have decided to put it off for a while as I'm just too stressed with things ATM.

Glad to hear you're all keeping busy. DP doesn't think he's going to get renewed for his current job here in Geelong, so it'll be back to Melbourne! I'm kinda glad, as I'm really not liking living at his dad's place.
Good news though, my brother and fiancee are moving to Melbourne! Yay! It'll be so good to see more of them!

Beata - I know how you feel. We're going through the same thing with Fraser. We'd been on a wait list to see a developmental pead and we have an appointment tomorrow! Fraser's hardly saying any words at all (we know he understands everything we say to him, but he's just not that interested in talking) and he was also late to walk, crawl, etc, so our doc thought we should see this guy just to give us peace of mind. I hope you get an appointment sooner! Good luck with your TTC also!
Rooey - Yay for going back to Melbourne. Hope it all works out well!
Meercat - good luck with the TTC. I hope that Tiah is sleeping a bit better for you. Hopefully this warmer weather we're having over here will help tire her out!

Mia, thanks for sharing that with me hun :hug: We are seeing a developmental pediatrician at the beginning of Feb because Cam's pediatrician doesn't want him to be assessed much before 2 years of age. I really wanted for someone to take a look at him now, but everywhere I called the waiting list is so bloody long :( I'm so tired of worrying about Cam, I just wish I had some answers. GL with Fraser's app. tomorrow! Let me know what they say. Hopefully he's just a late starter and he'll just start talking overnight! Cam is hardly saying any recognisable words as well, but he also understands a lot.
HC, how's it going with your LO? Are you back in Melbourne?

Indy's started having a tooth mousse on his top front teeth because he has some decay :( I'm so annoyed, he has a really good diet, only has water or milk and brushes!

beata and mia - i hope the appointments go well. hamish says some very clear words and sentences sometimes but most often its just baby babble. i am not too worried as he understands everything we say to him and he really isnt interested in talking at all! one day he is just going to come out with some sentence that is clear as day and knock all our socks off. and i am sure both fraser and cam will do the same for both of you! they say boys are just overall slower then girls. fingers crossed its just them being lazy and not wanting to say anything!

not much happening here. just getting organised for our move. i went thru and did a huge cull of my friends list on fb the other day. got rid of all my work collegues. cant really say they are friends when they never invite me anywhere! plus some of them just ignore me and dont speak to me at work either so whats the point of having them on my friends list.
off to see the new twilight film on sunday night! having a girls night out with my best friend. really looking forward to it. it will probably be the last time we can do this before we leave sucky old adelaide. heres hoping wagga is much better!

HC, I saw your post a while ago about the tooth decay :( Have you taken Indy to a dentist? My problem with Cam is that he will not let me brush his teeth 99% of the time, nor will he brush them himself! I manage to get the toothbrush into his mouth for a couple of seconds before he pushes my hand away. I'm really worried about tooth decay. I give him raw apple every day and if I have to I stick my finger in with a cloth and give the teeth a wee clean even though he always ends up biting me :o I don't know what else to do :wall: We've been so busy for the last few months looking for a house, which is a good distraction for me as I constantly worry about Cam and what he should be doing, and then there are the little things that he is doing which are a bit odd. Hence the need for him to be seen by a developmental pediatrician in Feb to get some answers or at least to ease my mind.
Teresa, GL with the move hun! And have a great time seeing the new Twilight movie :) I can't wait to see it.
Rach, once again lots of these :hug: I hope the pain is subsiding even a tiny bit. It's a tough road none of us should ever travel.

Thanks sweethearts. I'm good, was just a huge shock yesterday. It never even crossed my mind that it would happen to me once, let alone twice.
I truly am ok, little Jem makes me squeal with laughter and has been giving me kisses so much today that it was getting a little annoying! Little darling!
I think waiting to find out is the worst part so was all twisted in knots yesterday so the release was messy but necessary.
Sigh!

Haha Rach, I am still getting over Cam's 1st birthday! I had to pretty much organise it all myself as DF was still in China and conveniently came back only days before wee man's party. Haven't really thought much about his 2nd birthday party, I still have to organize his christening.......:redface:
PS That's so gorgeous about all the kisses wee Jem gave you, she's a real sweetheart :)
