yeah E's "hi" was very clear. i say it the same way all the time (kinda dodgy but she likes it!) and it sounded exactly like that. there was lots of mmmmmm's after it too so i'm guessing she was trying to say mum - but i only give her credit when she gets the word out lol

Hi Girls,
Well I just need to get this out there today. Last night whilst DH and I were sitting watching TV we heard Jemima's apneoa (breathing) alarm twitch. It does that if there is no movement for 20secs, there was a pause then another blip instead of the full alarm, she must have moved or it would have alarmed fully. I started moving towards the bedroom when I heard the second warning because I just knew that something was wrong. By the time I got to her the alarm was fully going off. Jemima had stopped breathing. I lifted the her under her head and neck and pulled her close to see if she was still not breathing or what was going on and she snorted a bit and cleared her airway. It absolutely scared me!!! She has been sick coughing and has a snotty nose ATM and it had been playing on my mind the whole SIDs risk when they r sick so instead of putting her on her tummy like she likes i have been putting her on her side. Anyway it scared me and DH half to death. She went back into a normal sleep and was breathing ok but I am sooooo glad that we bought the apneoa monitor now! Couple of hundred bucks well spent.
-
Oh Bella - I teared up a bit when I read your post, how terrifying - we have the breathing monitor too and I totally agree its definitely money well spent. Glad to hear J is ok, I bet it took you guys a while to calm down after that.
Today we saw the paed and he sent us straight over to see the ortho surgeon. Overall we have pretty good news. The surgeon said that Baileys right hip is 'immature', so not fully developed as it should be at this point, hence the acetubular angle comments by the sonographer. So in a nutshell the surgeon said that when taking into account Baileys arrival at 36 weeks gestation, his smallness etc, his development is more like a 4 months old from a bone growth/developmental perspective. The surgeon is happy to monitor the growth for the next month, and then make a further decision on treatment (if needed). We need to xray/scan Bailey again in 4 weeks and if there is no change then he will have to wear a brace for approx 6 months, (same type of brace as CJ) but we would be able to take it off for baths, nappy changes and play etc just like the point CJ is now (so pretty much what Vic suggested may occur, she was spot on!!). However he said that waiting a month won’t have any impact on Baileys development as his hips have excellent coverage, and with any luck the issue with the angle of the right hip will take care of itself with his normal growth in the next month. He ruled out surgery too which was a big relief. So for now we feel pretty good about things, we know exactly what’s going to happen if anything, and both the paed and ortho were fantastic and carefully explained things and answered our questions. Sean and I took ourselves out to lunch at a pub near the hospital and had beer, we feel like a big weight has been lifted off our shoulders. Even if next month we do have to go with the brace, after chatting to Vic last week and our Drs today we feel ok about it and can deal with it - if CJ can do it 24 hours a day, Bailey has it pretty good with a leave pass for baths/play/nappy changes etc. I know I'll be anxious again next month when we go back but for now I am pretty happy with the outcome, so much better than what the worst case scenario could have been :)
Thanks for all your support guys, esp Vic and CJ :)

Ooops forgot
Bailey's stats
W - 6560gms
L - 62cms
HC - 44.5cms
Big noggin, Paed measured our heads, we both have massive heads - eg over 97th percentile so Bailey has no hope hahaha
-
Naomi: Excellent news, mate. I know you'll be stressed leading up to the next appointment, but at least you don't have that worst-case scenario playing over in your head, and am so pleased that it won't stop you from going on this holiday! Please don't ever apologise for being down. I hope none of us expect anyone to be uppity and bubbles when it's not real. Anyhoo, lots of smiles here for you and Bailey.
Bella: FAR OUT, that is very scary. I'm sorry you went through that. What a relief to have had the alarm. Big hugs, mate. I hope that little nose of hers is all cleared up soon.
The last couple of mornings Phoebe has slept in after her feed and I've had these horrid visions of her not breathing - I've gone in to check on her so many times. Should've bought a decent monitor - especially because the one we've got is complete crap.
Jemima's stats are looking lovely and healthy too.
BG: Yeah, my washing line out the back and my clothes horse out the front have been really full the last two days. Sorry about your wrist - you have had a bad run of it! Awesome that Em is on the move! Do you have any baby gates? We've got two sets of stairs from our lounge room... I'm not looking forward to Phoebe getting mobile - it's going to make things a bit tricky around here.
Have had a pretty good day here. DH got up with Natty this morning and let me sleep in. Then I had a visit from an old buddy who lives interstate now but has been in town.
I'm finding it very difficult to settle Phoebe in the afternoons. She'll have a nap around midday, but anything after 3pm is really tough, unless we are in the car or she is attached to the boob for a good half hour! I find it pretty stressful when she's cranky cause she's tired, and Natty is usually hyper because she's tired too. This afternoon is a good exception though - just got phoebs to bed then (she has been feeding since 5-ish) and Natty is quite happy playing with her trains. So I'll get about 20 mins to trawl through some BB posts and then it'll be bathtime.
-
Hahahahaha! Funny, Naomi.
Look like healthy stats for Bailz. That's a pretty good growth this last month, isn't it? Is he following a line?
-
Hurrah Naomi and Bailey - I am so happy for you, fingers crossed for the next month but if it happens the brace as you will be able to take off for baths etc is easy peasy. I am really happy - I checked facebook first and saw some positive comments about Gold Coast so had to come on here and find out the news.
Am at IL's now, internet is slow and don't get so much time as computer is in room CJ is sleeping in so once she is in bed can't come on. Is going ok - I am quite homesick for Melbourne though, and find being at IL's tough - I feel like I don't know what is going on and things keep getting sprung on me, normally would be fine but needing to fit in feeds, and sleeps for CJ seems more hassle.
CJ is sitting up on her own! I mean I wouldn't leave her sat up and walk away but in between my legs she will sit up and not be leaning on me at all. We put her in her cousins bumbo a couple of times and that seems to have given her the idea.
Off shopping now. Hi to everyone - I miss having lots of internet access!
-
Thanks a heap Vic :) I think had I not had an understanding what you and CJ have been dealing with we would have been much more overwhelmed with the prospect of the brace next month. But having followed your journey with CJ since she was diagnosed has made me aware of the impacts etc to everyday life so it really makes me understand that if we need to sort out Baileys hips, we are pretty lucky with the solution we are faced with compared to many babies/kids.
PS. Bloody ILs, they never have any idea !! Hope the rest of your trip is fab :) Yaaaah with the sitting, how clever is CJ !!!
Amy - I think the paed said he is still in the 3rd-10th percentile. (Head in the 50th though LOL) We have our 6 month checkup tomorrow at CYH so will plot the gains and double check. Can you believe my little Bailz is 6 months old on Friday - what the? How the hell did that happen? - Stop the clock!! I'm stealing an idea I read in another forum and have set my phone to alarm so that I can wake up and take a photo of Bailz at 11:12pm - exactly 6 months from his birth date/time, then am gonna do the same each year. Obviously most of these yearly pics will be of him asleep but I think its such a cool idea
On another tangent it seems we have hit the 26 week wonder week (right on bloody time!!) Bailey is waking a fair bit the last few nights, and although I have been able to get him back to sleep relatively quickly, getting up and settling him is a PITA. He's still on that one feed about 1-2am-ish but sometimes waking 530ish instead of his usual 630am which is much more respectable. DH wanted to give him a bottle during one of his wakings last night and I just about bit his head off LOL. I explained that I dont want to offer him extra feeds at night unless necessary (eg sick and needing extra fluids/growth spurt etc) as am loving the one feed a night. I've tried to wean him off that a few times but he's just cried when I've tried to settle him back to sleep without it so he's not ready to give it up yet, thats ok with me, as long as he gives it up before his 18th birthday LMAO....!!
-
Vic, sorry about the IL situation. Hope you are enjoying the shopping though!
Naomi - P's head is on the 75th, LOL. I didn't think to measure my own head. Gorgeous idea, the photo! How lovely. DH's cousin takes a photo of her DS every year on his birthday dressed in his dad's shirt :) And nooooo, Bailey can't possibly be 6mo yet...
One feed a night is good. And 5:30 is a yucky wake-up time... Bleugh. 6:30 is heaps better.
Oh, bother, she is gaving trouble settling down for the night after her power nap @ 5:30 this arvo. I can't win! Would love for her to go to bed @ 7:30/8pm, but we just can't ever seem to manage it.
-
Hi girls!!! Just popping in really quickly before I attempt some sleep....
My little girl cracks me up. Here I pipe up and say how she doesn't roll alot, and what's she done the last 2 days... nothing but roll. SHe doesn't like being on her belly for long so when she's rolled onto it, after a good 10 minutes she's had enough. I'll roll her back over because sometimes she just doesn't want to, and she immediately rolls onto her tummy again. I can't keep her in her bouncer anymore, because she tries to roll out of it, even strapped in!
Anyway.... Better go. Been out all day and out again tomorrow, so I'll catch up on Friday.
xxoo
-
Bella - that must have been awful for you both - thank god J is ok! hoping the cold clears and she gets some relief very soon
sorry - really self absorbed post ahead!!
i'm so frikken OVER this crap that is our existence at the moment. having to take so much time off while i was pg has made money a bit of an issue, but we were surviving (just) with DH working. his boss dumping us in the hole by terminating him with an hours noticed has screwed us up big time. we are in a serious bind. we've been on the phone to everyone we owe money too, and had payment arrangements in place. our biggest issue has been with the gas company - bottled gas is SO expensive! we have gas heat, cooking and hot water. so we've been REALLY conscious of making sure they know where we're at. i have spoken to them at least once a month for the past several months just so they know we're paying off arrears (when it's $300 PLUS per month, it's not easy to get on top of it). everytime we get a reminder (sent from sydney) i call and get routed across to the local office. i have always got the "yup, we can see you're paying - ignore the nasties from sydney, at a LOCAL level we know what's happening and we'll work with you so you don't run out" - fantastic - so i keep plugging away. until last night. last night DH went to light the oven and we have no gas - wtf??? he goes to check - the tank is empty! we rang the company and got the standard answer - overdue so we've stopped supply. thanks but no thanks - not accepting that - i want to speak to the local bloke. so they get onto him and he calls back. sorry - irrespective of what was said LAST THURSDAY - we're stopping supply of your gas til you get up to date. we have a 4 month old baby. no heat, no hot water. sorry, until you pay the arrears, too bad. 28 YEARS we've had an account with them at this address (since DH's parents built the house) and this is how you treat people. eventually he agrees to drop a small tank off this morning - but no filling of the tank til it's paid. a small tank will do nothing. so i am a mess. found some money we can get our hands on when we go into town (have to sign withdrawals at the bank and crap) so we have a way to pay it. and a guardian angel put it on the CC last night so that we could get tank filled today (the 100 pound tank won't last given we use almost a full 500pound tank in less than a month). so guardian angel pays the bill. i'll pay them back this arvo. i ring this morning and get the arrogant pig on the phone that spoke to DH last night - sorry, we won't fill it today - you have to wait til the tank is next in town - which isn't for a frikken FORTNIGHT! so now we're going to be hit with the cost of the 100pound tank (which is more exxy), have to hope it doesn't run out (likely to happen) and wait for the big tank to be refilled. i'm not a happy girl AT ALL! have told DH that, until the small tank is completely empty they are forbidden to take it - we'll use it on the bbq or something. i'm frikken fuming! i borrowed money to pay this bill on the understanding (from the boss at the local place) that they would fill the tank as soon as it was paid. we could have held off, got the money early next week (rather than an extra trip to town).... sigh - so ANGRY!
on top of all of that, we're having one (well technically two) of our dogs put to sleep today. Whisk has been at my bro's for a year or just over because i couldn't care for her while DH was at work - but her and Jack are right now on their way or at the vet to be put down. both old and not fair to keep them (sick, blind, losing the plot kinda stuff) - but i'm a frikken wreck - they are the last of a blood line of dogs that DH bred and used as working dogs.
sigh - it's not fair!
-
 BG we've ran out of gas 2 before and its not fun but we dont use it for heating so that must be really hard the gas company needs a swift kick up the backside fancy telling u one thing and doing another i'd be furious
-
someone is here putting in temporary bottle now
i've stayed inside - it's not this guys fault
i am soooooo dirty though!
we only ran out because they didn't fill the tank. it last happened two years ago - i was heading to melbourne to have major dental surgery the next morning and went to have a shower - no hot water - grrrr
-
Bailey is 6 months old today - Wow!! That really freaks me out, it really has flown by so quickly. I wrote on facebook that I never got to finish my cooking, then I realised that I finished the most important part that day - cooking the bun in the oven LMAO  Anyway, realising how quickly my little guy is growing has made me reflective of the long journey it took to have him and even how tough (yet totally rewarding) the last 6 months have been - what a crazy few years - but how blessed we have been to get to the point we are now!!
BG - What a total PITA!!! I hate it when we have to fight BS battles like that with companies, I understand your frustration and annoyance, hope it all works out for you
Bella - How's J's cold? Did you end up getting the vacinations done? Love the pic of yourself you have posted on FB - you are definately a Yummy Mummy!! I still haven't been able to get the teething gel to post off, will do it monday (for you too Bridg), I dont know where the time has gone this week? I went to the chemist to get some and they one they sell is a 'copy' of the womans and childrens one, they tried to sell it to me, but its more runny and I have no idea if it is in fact any good, so I will go into the W&C and get the legit stuff (I should have got it on Wednesday when I was there but with Baileys appts I just completely forgot about it!!! Mummy Brain that day!!)
Nicky - LOL @ Allira trying to escape out of the bouncer - they are at such a frustrating age with trying to be mobile but not quite having the skills I am finding, Bailey is forever trying to sit up in his bouncer, car seat, high chair and grunts or yells in frustration when the harness or seatbelt holds him down, not that he could actually hold himself up to sit yet anyway, but he is trying to reach for toys or his dropped dummy etc. The cutest thing though is when I go to put a bib on him how he leans forward so I can do up the velco around his head - how clever and cute!
Kat - I saw on FB that you aren't well, poor bugger, I hope you get better soon and DH is able to look after you and Ivy. Gosh only a few days and Ivy will hit the 6 months too :)
Jacinta - I hope all is going well with you and your DH. Hows Jamie going with his 'around we go' playstation? Bailey is still way too small for his but I have put it up and he smashes the piano keys with his hand but thats about it - his little feet are about 10cm from the ground so he cant really move around hahahahahah
Amy - love the videos of both your girls - Nattys singing is a crackup!! Phoebs has a cute laugh too :)
Vic - hope the holidays is going well, have you hit Barcelona yet?
Krystie - How's Kysons sleep going? We are having an odd week - I think its pretty much wonder week related. One night Bailey went 11 hours between feeds (I thought he was going to start sleeping through) and for the last few he has been waking frequently - pretty much at the end of each sleep cycle, and needing to be resettled with the dummy etc. Last night I went to bed at 7pm and took him with me and he slept through till 130am, had a feed and then slept till about 430, I settled him and he woke again at 630 - so a good night, but that was in our bed, hopefully he'll go back to his normal habits within the week. Its been quite warm here - eg 27 degrees wheras it was around 18-20 degrees before, so I also think the change in weather has unsettled him, he is not used to warm days/nights and I think I had him too warm at night, so I just need to get the balance right again so he is comfortable
Bridg - Hows Logans snorting of feed going? LOL Your FB message made me laugh!! Whats new with you? As above with Bella, I am on the case with the teething gel :)
Cathy - You definately are the collage queen, your kids sure are good looking, Laura and Cara have such beautiful eyes. What happening with your clan anyway? And how are you? :)
Better go, I have a headache so might go and relax while the little guys sleeps, he is out of sorts today so gymbaroo was a waste of time this morning but O'well!! I am soo looking forward to my holiday, I feel a bit weary so its great timing!!
Naomi

hes going good he gets halfway around it but in sposies he cant do it when he has cloth nappies on hes too short lol
-
we have gas - we'll survive
i'm still not happy - so much stress that wasn't necessary. i really want to kick some butt over it - but i'm trying to walk away and not cause myself any more stress... hard, but i'm getting there
tired tonight - e has started flat out refusing day sleeps unless fed to sleep - and i refuse to feed her every half hour just cos she's tired and hasnt stayed asleep. so it's a battle of wills at the moment! i hate hearing her cry, but my nipple is NOT a pacifier, should NOT be bitten while she dozes - so i'm trying to help her settle without boob (but a full tummy of course!). hard work. two 10 minute naps in nine hours. sleeping in my arms at the moment...
-
Hey Girls!
Hope all the babies are doing well! Cara is growing well..8.2kg at 4mths!! My arms are getting a work out! hehe
I tried her on solids (rice cereal) a week ago..not interested, kept spitting it out, so I am going to wait til she is 5mths now. (i also tried a few days ago, still not interested). Oh well..less mess to worry about hehe
Cara is grabbing her feet all the time now and sucking her thumb sometimes. Very cute! I was a little concerned at first, but I've been told by others its not a problem at this age. So having a dummy of thumb sucker is only a concern when they get adult teeth.
Just reading that some bubs have had thrush in their mouth. Laura had that when she was a newborn. Poor thing. I did not discover it until she was 3 weeks old. I just thought my breast pain was the normal pain I get when I start feeding them. I think I used canestan at first (on nipples). That didnt work. Then some drops...also useless. Then at last we got the daktaran gel. The best!
I've been taking a HEAP of photos lately. And I dicovered Picasa 3 on google. Totally fabulous for making collages of all my photos heheh. Thanks to Vic for posting that on her facebook. Lovin it!
OMG Naomi! Bailey is 6mths old???? I can't believe that!! But then he was early hey hehe. Before you know it he will be sitting up and seeing the world from a different perspective.
I thought maybe I was running out of milk, and then Cara slept longer than normal the previous night..I woke up SOAKED hehe She's been waking up 4-5 times a night someimtes. The last two nights FINALLY she's had a good 5-6 hour sleep. Such a refief. I am sure teeth are on their way.
Beautiful weather here at the moment. And all the Jacaranda trees are in bloom..so pretty!
Have a great weekend girls! :)
-
Nicky: LOL @ A trying to roll in the bouncer! If Phoebe outgrows her bouncer I'll be in massive trouble. It's one of my most useful tools.
BG: What a pi$$er @ the gas situation. That totally sucks and I don't blame you for wanting to kick some butt. However, I am sure you're right that if you leave it be then you can let go of the stress a little better. Doesn't help that miss E is giving you a rough trot with no day sleeps. Phoebe is soooooo cross if she doesn't get her three (sometimes miniature) naps during the day. GL with the settling - hope she picks up on it soon.
Naomi: Hope your headache is gone? When do you leave for the GC? I am sure you will have an ace time away. Enjoy every minute.
Cathy: Oo, 8.2kg does sound like a good arm workout! I've no idea what Phoebe weighs... I think I might have to do the dodgy weigh-myself-without-her-then-with-her routine. No other reason to go to the nurse, and I'm taking both the girls in late November anyway.
Your collages are great! I have been a bit slack posting photos because I have to resize them and it takes time... and motivation, LOL! But I have been appreciating other peoples' shots.
Glad Cara is going a bit longer overnight for you. You must be completely wrecked. Does Laura wake early? When I've had a couple of wake-ups with Phoebe overnight I usually get woken early by Natty  Always the way.
We went to the pool with our playgroup yesterday. I was sorry that I hadn't bought Phoebe a swimming costume yet (and didn't have any spare swim nappies). But I dunked her feet into the water a few times. She didn't really respond at all, LOL!
Can't decide what to get Phoebe for Christmas. What are you guys doing for your bubbas?
Got to get the washing out etc now - we're off for a cino as soon as P wakes up. Going with the same friends as last week's feral fountain incident... Wish me luck ;)
-
Hey Amy
I tried Cara on avocado this afternoon and she opened her mouth for more!! So she does like that! (expensive taste baby hehe). I posted some pics on facebook. I know what you mean about resizing stuff. I used to hate it, but I have this AWESEOME sony cybershot camera now (with rechargable battery even..no more expensive AAs!), and it resizes for web IN the camera!! It's awesome. (a 10mp) I love it! I still use my old sony camera (7mp) when the battery runs out hehe. But with that one I still need to resize.
The last couple of nights Cara has gone 5-6 hours straight! Finally back to what she was doing at around 4-8 weeks hehe. I don't know if it will last..we will see. Laura usually wakes up anytime from 7.30am onwards. Seems to need her 12 hours of sleep. I get her to bed at 7.30/8pm at night. She is a good little thing, will wake up and just play for a good half hour or so waiting for me to wake up. Such a sweetie.
All I have for Cara so far for Christmas is that fisher price piggy bank. I got it on special one day so I put it aside for her..though may be a bit advanced for her. Laura will like to play with it too lol. Laura is right into Toy Story movies, and there is a 3rd Toy Story coming out next year...so i got her some toy story pull string toys. :)
-
Ooh, avo is a fantastic first food! Natty used to have (once she started eating properly @ around 8mo) avocado and mashed sweet potato spread on cruskits, LOL! It was her favourite. She also liked pears and apples, but I remember her being particularly partial to the other dish.
I will probably just see what little interactive toy is on special when I go shopping and get that for P. No doubt Natty will be more interested in it than she is, as you say, Cathy. Your camera sounds very cool.
Laura sounds just adorable. I am really struggling with Natty... again. She is pushing it. Every day, she pushes harder. She has started deliberately hurting Phoebe now (although Phoebe doesn't usually mind - she's pretty resilient. But that's not the point, of course!), she's super clingy one minute - driving me nuts by hanging off my leg, then the next minute she's running away and refusing to come to me when I call her. It has been a tough time the last few days. DH has been working a lot.
Well, this whole toddler thing makes me appreciate how lovely babies are. I am really enjoying Phoebs, even when she's cranky. Sometimes when she's cross and overtired, I'll put her on the boob and try to calm her off to sleep and she makes these little angry grunty noises as she feeds. It is just hilarious and makes me smile every time, even though she's giving me attitude. I am trying hard not to play favourites, and I don't ever compare the girls' behaviour when I'm talking to them, but it comes down to experience, I suppose. The stuff Natty throws at me is totally new, whereas I've done the cranky baby thing before and I know that it's over all too soon.
Probably I have babbled enough. Goodnight all, hope you are enjoying your weekends.
-
Amy - re Xmas presents, we have some stacking cups, a Cow Piggy Bank and an Ernie Bath speed boat thingo for the bath. I also have an 'around we go' playstation which we have already unpacked seeing as they grow out of things so quickly, (its in Jacinta's pic's of Jamie as he has one too)
But yesterday Sean and I caved and bought the Fisher Price Jumperoo thing for Bailey for him to use now - LOL. I put him in it at Target again and he was so happy that we couldn't resist - so thats $200 less we have to spend on each other (no xmas presents for us hahahahaha). The smiles and laughs we get from him playing in it though are worth every cent :) He absolutely LOVES it!!
We farmed out a few big present idea's to the Grandparents to save some cash hahahahaha - a paddle pool from the inlaws and a swing (the baby ones you can hang under the verandah) to my Mum
So basically Bailey is spoilt rotten already and my plans not to have a house full of plastic crap have already gone out the window!!!! :o
Naomi
x
-
LOL, Naomi... I think that's why I'm so unsure of what to get - we already have a house full of plastic crap. And I just bought another piece for Natty's birthday - a sand and water table for outside.
I think we will be light-on for gifts this year too, but wanted to think it through before the rush starts. (Although it may have already - seems to start earlier each year.)
-
Just a little update: Phoebe has now worked out how to suck her toes. PMSL!
-
Phoebe aka Fergie (re the royal toe sucking incident!!)
LMAO - go Phoebs, watch out for toe jam!!
-
hehehe E did that the other morning Amy - DH thought it hilarious. even funnier when i showed him i could still do it! lol
-
Naomi - they would've been funny photos in the magazines if Fergie had've been sucking her own toes. Perhaps less scandalous, but funny.
LOL, BG - I think I'd dislocate something.
-
think E is coming down with something - she has been really cuddly and sleepy today. and has been coughing a bit. had to do a candle party yesterday for a friend. her youngest DD had a cough and (as two year olds are) was all over poor E. so i think she's passed it on. would have been nice for the friend to mention her DD was unwell - i would have rescheduled so that E didn't get sick. poor poppet. she's been on and off the boob all day, i'm feeling sore so it's just not a great day for us!
sorry for the self absorbed post (again) but i'm having a shocker, am likely to have friend ping me on msn/fb tonight and don't want to have a go at her so figure if i just put it out here, it's done and we're fine
-
Aw, hope you both are doing better today.
-
cough hasn't developed into anything - but something isn't quite right with E - either growth spurt or wonder week i think (bit early - but she was three weeks early with the last one, so wouldn't surprise me) - she refused to sleep last night for nearly 2 hours - i had to send DH into the other room so he could get some sleep. she was dry, full, nothing i could see hurting her - she just didnt' want to sleep. got her down at 12.30ish. she was awake again at half 2 for nearly an hour, then up at six and seemed to have no intention of sleeping. i didn't buy it - not enough sleep - so we had another session of me encouraging sleep and her fighting it. got back to sleep after nearly and hour - then 15 minutes later she was stirring and wanting a feed! not happy! she's back asleep now and seems to be in a deep sleep again. i feel like crud! this is so not the kidlet i know...
-
Weird. Could be that cold you were thinking. She might have a sore throat or something? Not that there's anything more you can do for her than you're already doing. It sucks, particularly when you weren't feeling too crash hot either. Sending her some sleepy vibes for tonight.
P scared me this morning by only sleeping for 10 minutes for her first nap of the day! I was soooo unimpressed - she usually does 3 or 4 40min jobbies, depending on what time she wakes for the day. But the second nap she slept for 1.5 hours. Hasn't done that for probably over a month now. I swear, I didn't know what to do with myself! I should've gotten on the wii fit (am trying to lose some weight atm) but decided that after doing dishes, cleaning bathroom and cleaning and vacuuming loungeroom this morning that I deserved a sit down with a book... and a scone with jam, LOL. So, she's chatting away happily to me atm while I type and we'll go collect Natty soon.
I'm so unsure of how to transport Phoebe when we come down to Melbs. I wish I had've given myself the option of check-in luggage, as I don't think I'm going to manage carrying her around in the baby bjorn for a whole day when she's a month's heavier than she is now. I am really hoping we can take the MacPac now - hoping she develops a bit more strength over the next few weeks.
-
wish i could offer you a pram or something but i won't see you til the park - and i'm sure you'll need it well before then! hope you can work something out

Amy - you should be able to add check in luggage at the airport, I think its normally about $20 though if u need to, check with jetstar if you change your mind. Anyway, We can always swap Phoebs and Bailey around if Phoebe is getting a bit heavy as Bailz now likes the carrier we have as he gets a great view of the world :)
BG - hope E feels better :)

Hi everyone! How are we?
Just quickly cos I have to get ready for my strength training class tonight.
We started Allira on solids yesterday after she helped herself to some of our watermelon. LOL We were going to wait it out until 6 months exactly, but that's less than 2 weeks away anyway, and she just devoured the watermelon. She's chewing it to peices, sucking the juice out and just having an absolute ball! Give it a few more days, and then might skip onto broccoli or something along those lines.
Naomi - Bailey is adorable. What gorgeous pictures!
BG - I hope E is ok. Allira has had a realy dry weird cough for a little while so it's off ot the docs this week if we can get in. She also has eczema and I'm a little worried it might be asthma. :(
Amy - Could you buy a cheap umbrella stroller? Even from an op shop in melbs or something?
Sending lots of sleep vibes ( but keeping some for myself!!) Allira hasn't slept properly since she was 4 months old. Were woken up 5-6 times a night every night. Getting used to it now( that will also explain my absence a little). Cheeky kids I tell ya!
She's going to take off any day now :( Shes so close to commando crawling it's not funny. She rolls over and over and over.... I can see Lachie going nuts soon when she reaches his stuff.
Anyway, best be off. Will pop back in tomorrow.
xxoo

Aw, Naomi, those pics are sooooo gorgeous! Love the big one - I can just imagine the laughter along with it.
Thanks for that - I will ring up Jetstar and see what I can wrangle.
BG: Glad to hear E is on the up!
Nicky: How wonderful that Allira got right into the solids! Hilarious that she helped herself, LOL. Scary about the crawling... She's too little!
I am sure I can work something out - if she can sit in an umbrella stroller then she'd be fine in the macpac. I can strap her in pretty securely, I just want to make sure she doesn't slump in there too much, KWIM? She's gotten a fair bit stronger over the last 2-ish weeks, so I reckon she'll probably be ok.

Nicky - sending sleep vibes your way mate Zzzzzzzzz
Bailey just rolled from belly to back during nappy free time - what a legend!! He then cacked himself as he thought it was so funny. His gross motor skills have really improved in the last week, we have been doing lots of exercises with him and he lifts his head up really well too, I'm so happy to see these developments, he's catching up!
Had our six month injections today - the Nurse told us not to organise Bailey's 12 months ones until AFTER his birthday party as they can get a little sick from one of the 12 month ones. So a handy hint - who wants a sick baby on their first birthday party - no thanks!!

omg jamie rolled back to belly today woo hoo hes been trying and only getting halfway and now he can do it yay!!
-
yay on these little bubbas getting mobile!
E has done the roll thing, and now kinda seems to think she doesn't need to anymore lol - lazy rat
not really having a great time. was diagnosed with CFS early last year and have done pretty well at keeping it manage until recently. started to feel it creeping up again a couple of weeks ago - and it's gotten progressively worse to the point where i'm constantly sore and tired - the tired i can cope with - the sore, not so much. i think E is picking up on it cos she's been a right rat to get to sleep the last couple of nights - flat out refusing sleep and when she does crash, waking and crying as soon as we move her to her own bed. i'm thinking growth spurt, teeth or starting the wonder week thing early - but it's seriously doing my head in! she is mummy's girl until about 4 in the arvo - whether daddy is home or not - and then all she wants is him - or milk no matter how recently she has been drinking. after dinner, she's all over the place and no matter what time we go to bed, she's refusing to sleep until well after midnight! she's waking after only a couple of hours and feeding again, then having maybe four or five hours - she hasn't done that since she was a newborn! its' really knocking me about and my body is aching soooo bad! the last two days are the only days it's really gotten to me, so i'm hoping it's short lived! sigh

Aahhhh sleep - what is it again? We have some sleep regression happening here, its either wonder week or vaccination related (or a combination of both). Have been co-sleeping with the little guy a bit just so we can all get some sleep, no point trying anything new as we are going to the Gold Coast on Sunday so the new surroundings for the week will likely unsettle the little guy anyhoo.
BG - I feel your pain re the bubba's only wanting Mummy, its bloody tiring! Last night Bailey was so unsettled, had a roaring temp (definately vaccination related as its all good today) but would not have a bar of Dad, and every time I put him back in the cot (asleep or so I thought) he would roar until I picked him up, in the end I decided it was easier just to go to bed and take him with me!!
J - exciting re the rolling!! Bailey hasn't done it again, I have rolled him over onto his belly a number of times since and he tries so hard to roll back but keeps getting his arm in a position that prevents him from rolling back over it, he'll work it out again no doubt! He's much more 'rolly' during nappy free time!!
Amy - how'd ya go with jetstar and/or stroller? Like I said, dont worry to much as if P gets too heavy she can go in Baileys stroller (it reclines nicely if she has trouble sitting up) and I can carry him with your carrier as he is happy to go in my carrier now - loves to look about, so we can swap the kids around as we need to after we meet up to help each other out!!
Nicky - how's your little roller going? Has she invaded Lachies stuff yet? Love the pic's of her eating watermelon, I might give some to Bailey and see how he goes. He's had meat now - mince in sheppards pie and chicken for the first time tonight - and sheesh the poo's are stinky as - not impressed!
Bella - Hows J going? Are the teeth still giving her trouble? Oh yeah and if you want some of that teething gel PM me with a postal address and I'll send some up. The W&C hosp will only sell us one at a time - VERY annoying, so I will go back in and get another for you as sent the first one off to Bridg for the very cute Logan!
Kat - I noticed in another post that you have read the No-Cry sleep solutions, would you recommend it? I might have a look on ebay to see if I can pick up a copy, I want some ideas to get Bailey back to sleeping well, but I cant do the CC thing (maybe if I get seriously sleep deprived :o) as I cant help but go into him when he is crying, I dont think I am strong enough to go down the CC road
Krystie - hope the business is taking off
Bridg - good to hear Logan's appt went well, hope the next one is positive too :)
Cathy - I am loving the picassa collage thingo - you have created a collage monster in yourself and me LOL
Jess - not sure if you are still popping in but I hope you and your beautiful boys are doing well :)
Vic - hope you are enjoying the last leg of your trip - looking forward to having you back in Oz as cant wait to meet all you chicks in late Nov - its not long now!!
Right, gotta go bring Baileys First Year photo book up to date, am about 3 weeks behind so want to bring it up to date before we go away. Hopefully he stays asleep as DH is at band practice so I have the house to myself - lovely!!
