Oh, and I just measured Bailey's (while he was asleep LOL, lucky he didn't wake LMAO) his is now 46.5cm - at birth it was 34cm - so a 12.5cm growth (he's now 7.5 months). It was 43cm at 5 months so has grown another 3.5cm since then - so a slighlty larger growth than CJ and my paed has no worries about it - HTH :)
-
well i think jamies is smaller than all the boof heads lol sorry just joking xoxox
jamie got his first tooth either last night or this morning it broke through must have been yesterday coz yesterday was terrible and he also said dada it was an accident but hes been sayin hi and yeah hes really changed since just yesterday it amazing my little boy is growing up :(

DH head is 59 so we both have large heads I reckon. Funny how many people I have come across with bubs with heads/head growth larger than CJ's and nothing ever mentioned to them. I never have issue with clothes over her head so head is obviously in line with rest of bod. Am going to measure it every now and again to preserve my own sanity and just see what next measurements beginning of Feb bring.

Hey Ladies, have been meaning to jump in this thread for ages and will promise to try and catch up with everyone.
Mainly posting today for Vic, as I too have a bub with a larger head in the 97th%.
Aaron was born with the same as CJ a 35cm HC however his last measurement which was on the 19.11 his HC is now 46.4.
He has had a couple of U/S done as his fontanel is still large and slightly raised.
We found out a few months ago that Aaron does have hydrocephalus and had an MRI to confirm how much fluid was there...however touch wood at this stage no intervention is required and like yourself we just continue to monitor his head growth
Just keep an eye on things like you said and if you find any change that would indicate a head ache see your paed.
BTW this is not trying to scare you in any way

How is everyone? I have just had a massive cook up for my BF baby shower tomorrow (the one who had her baby 8 weeks early so we had to cancel her original shower hehehehe). Have made thai sausage rolls, cup cakes, chicken and asparagus breadcases and put together one of those chocolate ripple biscuit desserts - yummy!!
We've had a tough week, in reflection we've only had one night of normal sleep. Not 100% sure what's up but thinking it might be some seperation anxiety at bedtime/naptime? Bailey has been quite difficult to get to sleep for day naps and at night (esp the last few days) as just gets himself quite upset and cries, and has been waking frequently quite upset. Normally if he wakes I can either pop the dummy back in, pat or at worst a quick 5 minute cuddle and he goes back to sleep, but last night it took me an hour and a half to get him back to sleep. He's also been waking about 430am. I've given him a few extra bottles on some nights thinking it might be a growth spurt, then I thought it was related to his brace adjustment on monday, then Sean suggested teething but I cant really see any obvious signs of it. Although everyone says he is cos he drools (he always drools so I disagree). I really dont know, but did some googling and it seems seperation anxiety can occur around the 6-8 month stage and he had been quite clingy to me of late. I tried to get Sean to put him to bed the other night but Bailey wouldn't have a bar of it and ended up so upset he was doing the whole cry/shudder thing - heartbreaking. Not 100% sure what to do, might just plug away for a few more days and see what happens, but any ideas would sure be welcome.
Nicky - I forgot to reply re the diet. As we started solids early (just shy of 5 months), I didn't do the BLS as Bailey's hand to mouth co-ordination at that point was pretty under-developed so cant offer you any guidance there but a typical days diet for us is bottle (always 150mls as the rest just goes to waste) at 630am, breakfast (fruit and farex) about 8am, bottle about 1030-11am, yoghurt about 12-1ish, dinner about 430pm (meat and veg, eg sheppards pie, chicken casserole, tuna mornay) and fruit for dessert and a bottle at bedtime 6pm-ish. Bailey also has a bottle overnight (about 2-3am-ish). I've just discovered this Heinz baby custard powder so on the days he doesn't drink much, I use the leftover formula and make some custard and he'll eat that instead of the bottle (that way I can get some milk into him). He eats ALOT of solids compared to all the other similar aged babies I know - eg about 5 icecube fulls for each meal, + about that again in fruit for dessert. He seems to prefer food over milk but still gets about 600mls milk each day. All his food is home-made, occasionally will have heinz or raffertys baby food when we are out and about but doesn't eat much of it (unless its chocolate custard LOL). I've stopped puree'ing food and now just mash it a bit with a fork as leading up to self feeding in the next month or so (he can feed himself pretty well with a spoon, but we tend not to do that unless its dinner time as a bath follows LOL). We've started to put his water bottle in his lap and during mealtimes he will pick it up and take a drink when he wants one so normally has about 6 drinks during a meal, he is drinking heaps of water now which is good.
Ahhhh thats about it...... I can hear the little guy stirring again so must away

Thanks for posting Nicole - it is useful to hear this, and please don't worry about scaring me would rather hear the experiences. Had you noticed anything else with Aaron apart from head size? The doctor had a look at fontanell on CJ and said all looked fine at the moment - she said as well as bulging if looks more transclucent can be a sign of hyrdrocephalus. Was the first step getting the ultrasound done? Hope Aaron continues doing well and no intervention needed. Are there other things I should look out for? CJ shakes her head a bit like she is saying no, but this is quite a new thing and does it while laughing mainly - I haven't seen other bubs her age do it but have slightly older bubs.
Naomi & Nicky - Hope the sleep issues settle down for you soon, sorry can't help with any advice only hugs and hope it passes soon vibes. I am finding CJ way more tiring these days she seems alot more active and demanding recently (fun though) and I am getting sufficient sleep so can't imagine how you guys cope.
Right off to a picnic seeing santa this arvo.

Oh thank goodness I didn't scare you Vic...I only thought this morning maybe I came across a bit negative
One other thing we noticed with Aaron was that his eyes were a little sunset (another sign of the fluid) but other than that he is a very happy baby.
Yes the first step was an u/s, then the MRI and then another follow up u/s which was done 2 months after the first one.
Aaron shakes his head from side to side and tends to do it more when he is in his high chair and has had enough of his food.
To be honest I think he does it cause he can...these little bubs are always finding something new hey!!??
Thanks for your well wishes for Aaron  having him is truly like the sun is always shinning!!
...and fun at the picnic with Santa :)

bout time you started posting in here Nic!
Naomi, we've had massive settling issues with E lately too - she just doesn't seem to want to be away from us - and is waking EVERY sleep cycle through the day sleeps - and probably every 3 hours at night. thankfully, DH is able to get her to settle during the day - at night, she seems to want me, but day time she'll accept him. he is still struggling to decipher the difference between her "don't leave me i don't want to go to sleep" whingy cry, and her full on "pick me up, i'm losing it" distressed cry - but he's getting better. she actually seems to settle better for him during the day than me - maybe cos she has started to get the milk association to sleep happening. we know she has been teething (poor poppet has bumps where her eye teeth are - seems that is where she is chewing on things, so i may have a little vampire soon!) and i've found putting teething stuff on her gums 10 minutes or so before we take her off to bed is helping... wish i could suggest something more definite to help - we're just running on trial and error! part of our issues is my AF returning too i think - not loving that idea at all!
Vic - not sure if i've mentioned it before - E's head is above the 97th percentile, her weight and length between 25 and 50th - so she has a big head! no one has said anything about it. she's been like that since birth (which may explain why the little boofa got stuck on the way out!) the paed was happy with her. i completely understand getting CJ tested - it's just frustrating that they almost frighten you with their comments sometimes!
am not feeling too hot still - have been able to stop the cold meds - but still a bit congested and it's dragging me down. DH got up this morning when E woke up, laid with us while i fed her in bed, then brought her to the other end of the house and let me sleep another hour! yay!! then he bought her up to wake me (i'd told him half an hour but i'm not complaining) - i rolled over when she patted me on the side and was laying bare chested in bed - she got so excited - and decided to self serve! dropped off DH's leg til she was on her knees beside me - and helped herself lol. the boob has been the only thing that has helped encourage her to try crawling too - i think the big head factor is working against her lol - she seems to put her head down, bum up - and push forward - but she is a bit blase about most things - she'll only do it on the bed to get to boob!

Hi and welcome Nicole!
Hi girls.
Well, I'm just coming in for a bit of a brag....
Allira might not be sleeping, but she's conquered crawling, she's sitting unassisted and tonight she spoon fed herself some yoghurt for the first time! I'm so proud *gush*. LOL
I think DS had trouble spoon feeding himself until well after hte age of 1 so for Allira to be doing it on her 7 month birthday is very exciting for me.
Still masssively sleep deprived, so thought I'd cheer myself up a little.
Hope you are all going well. Please feel free to have a look at the pics I've put up on facebook and check out my chubba scoffing down spaghetti! It was hillarious adn she had the time of her life!
Ok, off to put her to bed now... wonder how long for?
xxoo
-
To top my night off, Allira slept! yes, you read right... !
She only woke once and I gave her half a bottle. She then dozed right off and woke at 10am!! I hope this continues!
We did move her to her own room yesterday, so hopefully this will continue from now on.
I hope you are all well!

Nicky - that is awesome, I hope it continues for you :) We had a good night last night, but day sleeps are a nightmare, I ended up in tears this afternoon as Bailey would not nap, was so tired he was just about gouging his eyes out and he would not stop crying. Not sure what to do, but trying to put him to bed when I spot tired signs isn't working so tomorrow I am going to try to wait till he is quite tired and see if it makes any difference. Naps are very stressful for all of us currently, he is just fighting them and it all ends up in mess. Sean and I were trying to get him to sleep by trying the 100th different approach this afternoon and were doing laps of the house with the pram, I'd already been in tears so we were trying to be chipper by holding out a drink when we passed the kitchen like they do with marathon runners, and would swap every third lap of the house, after about 20 laps, we heard this chuckle from the pram (which was covered) and realised our efforts were in vain :o - Oh, you have to laugh (or you'll cry)!!
Question for all - How long does everyones babies go between day sleeps? I think maybe I am putting Bailey down for a nap too frequently now, perhaps now that he is older he can last longer than I am thinking? He used to only last about 3 hours max, but I thinking of pushing it out to 4 to see what happens... (His morning nap is usually only about 2-2.5 hours after he wakes, but later in the day he seems to want to go longer)
Baileys stats
W- 7.5kgs (on our digital scales)
HC - 46.5cm
L - ?? LOL Vic, I tried your trick with the tape measure when Baileys brace is off but he just doesn't stretch his legs straight much, and when he does I get a different measurement everytime hahaha
The last time I had him weighed he was 6.5kg which was at 6 months, he will be 8 months on the 23rd so thats about 100-120gm a week, not too bad at all

Hi all,
Well Jemima is starting to sleep much better!!! I have been feeding her in a cool room during the day away from distractions and I think that is helping her to not be so hungry at night. Lately she has been going to sleep at 7ish..waking at 9 or 10 and then 4.30 back to sleep before awake at 6. So alot longer stretch in the middle.
Naomi Jemima was doing the wake up in the middle of the night thing last week for a play, which she has never done before and did it for 3 nights and then stopped again!! Don't know what is with that?! Jemima is going 2-3 hr between her naps. She is having 3 a day atm
I must go!! I spent all day finishing off a DVD project for our rellies in UK and haven't done anything around the house... it looks like a bom!

just thought id pop in :)
jamie has cut one tooth and now the second bottom one is coming through and 2 on the top are coming through but like Emerald their not the middle one their the incisors i think their called it looks funny sorta like a vampire lol hes having issues sleeping and im so annoyed coz he broke his amber necklace beyond repair well i think he has i might try to look at it but if not i'll have to get another one coz i think it was helping but most of his teeth have decided to come when its broken  anyways hope everyone else is well xoxox

Naomi, I think Aaron is about a month younger than Bailey but don't think it makes much of a difference but generally he is up for 2 down for 2.
In the afternoon from around 3.00ish he is awake close to 4 hours but think this has allot to do with him sleeping more in the morning.
Normal bed time for him is around 9pm till 7am quick feed back to bed and will sleep till around 10ish....I think my boy really loves his Zzzzzzzzzz  Lucky for mum ;)

E gets up around 8 or 9, back down for 1.5-2.5 hours after 2 hours, up for 2 hours, down for 1.5-2. she might have another cat nap if she is grumpy. if she is happy like today - she stayed up til about 8 then went down happily. we have no set routine - our lives are so up in the air, we just go by tired signs...
-
CJ gets up between 6:30 and 7:00 and then is back down for first nap about an 60 - 90 mins after (if I see her thumb go in I put her down). After that the day is pretty free-form she isn't a great day napper so sometimes her naps are only 30-40 mins others are much longer (usually if have to go out), but tends to be around the awake 2 hours mark that will put her down for a nap (or just make sure we are in pushchair or car). She can stay awake quite a long time without getting grumpy though, on Sat night went to BBQ and she was awake 5:30 till 10:00pm without being grumpy at all, which I was really surprised at as normal bedtime is 7:00pm, went off to bed at 10:00pm easy as normal but didn't sleep in any longer next day :-(.
Although occasionally I worry that she doesn't get enough sleep in the day (3 x 30 mins isn't long which is what happens quite often), have resigned myself to that is how she is, she isn't cranky, and she does do the long overnight sleep 7:00pm till 6:30am with no wakeups so figure maybe a few powernaps in the day are all she needs. If we are in the car she always sleeps so sometimes she does get a lot of sleep in day. Basically she likes to keep me on my toes if I think she should be asleep she will be awake, if I think she should be awake she will be fast asleep.
