Aaaaaaaagh! @ your MIL. She's mental.
LOL @ you sneaking veges into DH's meals!!! That's hillarious. My DH is a crap eater too, but won't have sauces (except for satay or white cheese sauce) so I can't really sneak anything in... He is pretty good with green veges though, so it doesn't matter. Will have broccoli, snow peas, lettuce... actually I think that's all.
Good that Bailey's mad keen for home made food! I had the opposite problem with Natty for a while there - she'd only have the commercial pureed food. Now she won't have anything, LOL. I actually gave Phoebe a snow pea tonight while I was finishing off Natty and my dinner, expecting her just to play with it (shake it, etc) but she actually sucked on it and gummed it! I ended up taking it from her because I wasn't convinced it was safe with those little peas inside that she could choke on, LOL! What a moron I am. Will have to try again another time.
SNAP with the difficult to settle thing. Phoebe feeds to sleep and lately (the past week and a half or so) she has taken much longer to get to sleep. Her alertness has increased and she can be awake for longer periods now, so I'm thinking that has a lot to do with it. Mind you, after 2 hours of being awake she gets soooooo cranky! It's pretty obvious when she needs to go to bed.
We had a pretty good day today. Will see how I go tonight without the man. Naomi, would love it if you and Bailey came over and kept us company! You'd have to sleep with me though, otherwise I'd still get scared. PMSL! I am a big sook overnight. I have actually just had a vodka tonic in the hope that I will pop off to sleep really quick. The only bugger will be getting back to sleep after P's feed...
We had lunch with friends today and they have a little one who'll be 2 in Jan. She is soooo funny! She's a little nudist. Loves taking her nappy off and running about. They have a lovely house, floor boards throughout the living space. Lucky because she keeps weeing on the floor, LOL! Today she and Natty came outside to the table and Natty announced that M had done a wee. My friend said, 'Oh, dear! Did you really? Now we will have to clean it up!' and M said, 'Yes. That's why we wear a nappy!' Cracked me up!
I am psyching myself up for TT round two with Nat. Will have a go in the next couple of weeks, I think.
Ok... I have put it off for long enough, LOL! Time to go to bed. Nighty night. xx

LOL Amy, only if you spoon me hahahahahaha
All jokes aside, I know what you mean, even when DH has his poker nights and doesn't get home till 2 or 3, i dont really sleep until he gets home. I much prefer it when DH is here. I remember when we moved in here and DH had a poker night and our fences weren't up yet, I was crapping my pants the whole time, I ended up calling him and asking him how much longer he'd be ........... hahahaha so I am as whimpy as you :)
-
Oh, I forgot to mention earlier, we've had our first "when are you having another child" question ALREADY - from DHs family (of course...!!!)
I'm still getting my head around my first child LOL
-
Good grief, Naomi! I suppose Bailey is 6 months old... practically ready to go for his license.
Didn't go too badly last night! (Even with no one to spoon.) Shouldn't have had the pre-bed drink though - needed to go to the loo at 2-ish and struggled to get back to sleep. Bummer because Phoebe slept through! From 7pm til 6:30! Natty was the one who woke me this morning... at 5:45. Little bugger. She's going to be knackered today. Good thing she's going to CC - at least she will have a day sleep there.
-
Amy - you can have my DH to look after you for a while - i need a night or three without him lol. nah, it's not so bad now he's been home for a couple of months, but when he first finished up work, it did my head in cos i wasn't used to him being there. he still annoys me when i'm feeding in bed sometimes, but it's not too bad.
Naomi - your MIL is a witch (and not a good one!) - she needs to move ahead about 30years in her thinking and realise that just cos she did it when your DH was a kid, doesn't mean its the right thing now. we learn as we evolve lady! this is probably the same generation that were feeding their kids carnation condensed milk as it's what they were told was the best for them - we know that's not the case though... sigh
we too have had the "when is the next one coming" question - we first got it when E was about 12 weeks i think, maybe a bit younger. i simply said there may not be another - and got the look of "are you nuts?" lol. i then told the person (mum's besties hubby) that unless he could pay for the iVF and all the associated costs, then there may not be another cos i can't see us putting that level of financial outlay for another baby when we're happy as we are. if it happens naturally, fantastic - but (finances aside) - IVF/IUI was so physically and emotionally hard - i can't go there again!
AFU - well, i think we're finally working out day sleeps. E has been a kidlet that refuses to sleep in her own bed, or anywhere other than on me, since she was born - nights she's fine, but in the day, no way! so last week, i got cooked, and was so uncomfy - and told DH i was changing things. i'd had enough of being stuck in a chair with her when there was stuff to do. so we put her cot in our room on Saturday and started with sleeps in the cot. first time, she got rather peeved at me - we went from whingy "i don't want to be here" sooking, with mummy settling her, to distressed cry (so i picked her up, snuggled, top up feed, back in bed) to a bit more yelling at me, then off to sleep. only slept about 45 minutes, but it was a start. Saturday arvo i fed her in the lounge, took her to bed awake, put her down - got yelled at and whingy crying, but off to sleep pretty quick. woke after 45mins, dummy back in, then got a total of about 2.5hours (and i got HEAPS done!). yesterday morning we got 2.5hours (with a wake up after 45mins for dummy), and yest arvo another 1.5hours. so we might actually be getting somewhere! yay! the heat thing was really getting to me - needed the aircon on to stop us overheating, but then she needed a blanket over her to stop the air making her too cold, which added to my heat - was crazy!
she seems to know that the cot is for sleeping - i have a different muslin wrap for day sleeps and she has accepted it. i also have music on in the bedroom (which we have all the time anyway) and we have the fan on when it's warmer. i will put the aircon on while she's not in there to cool the room, but haven't left it on while she sleep yet as we've been able to keep the room pretty cool with heavy curtains and the air movement from the fan

BG, LOL- I can well imagine it'd be so different having him home. Glad you are getting used to it, even if he does annoy you at times.
Well done with the settling for day sleeps! Sounds like E's going really well with it. It will be a lot easier for whoever's going to look after her if you do need to go back to work too, hey. I am a bit concerned about how Phoebe's going to manage when someone else has her. Ah well, I suppose we'll work something out. I think she'll be pretty adaptable... :crossfingers:
I should be doing housework or something while P's asleep... But I can't be fagged! Am just having a relax.

Hi all!
Been out most of the weekend again... Sick of never being home, but that changes as of next weekend. Woohoo.
We're slowly recovering so hoping to be 100% by this weekend. If someone is not well, we won't be coming down as I don't want to be making anyone else sick, especially the little ones.
So fingers crossed.
Allira spent most of yesterday getting up on her hands and knees. She can't hold it for long, but I wish she'd just not. LOL. We found her under the computer desk the other day.... cheeky bugger cna get around even without crawling.
Her brother fed her some yoghurt this morning whilst I wasn't looking... so I guess we'll see how she goes. lol. She must have liked it because she didn't make a noise.
We haven't been doing much with solids lately, mainly becuase we've all been unwell. Might try Allira on some pasta spirals or something for lunch and see how she goes.
And now I must head off because the boy is destroying things... AGAIN. LOL
back later to finish.

OMG - i've been made redundant by my bubba girl!
she decided when i put her down for a sleep half an hour ago that she doesn't need me, had a bit of a waffle so i walked out and stood in the hall to see how she went - nothin! so i came to the lounge, grabbed some stuff to do in the study, went back up the hall, heard her whinge and thought maybe she needed me -but nope, dummy and eyes closed, so i left. she settled herself! sigh - i'm happy - but also feeling ummmm, i dunno - i thought it would take longer!
-
Yay E! That's fantastic BG!
DS was a bub who needed mum or dad to get to sleep for a while, but Allira has been doing it herself for a while... I must admit I feel like i have a few extra hours in the day having her than I did with DS. LOL
Had a decent sleep again last night. We've had a few good nights this week so hopefully Allira is getting back to her old self... but I feel WORSE.. soo much more tired than normal. maybe it's just the heat? Meh.
Exercise classes tonight... I can't handle another week off so I have to go. I am going to be so so so sore tomorrow though.
-
two big sleeps today - woke once this arvo, i re wrapped her cos she stil looked tired, put her dummy back in - haven't heard a peep - so more self settling! it's awesome - we used to have a fight to get any day sleep - and now she's had one of 90mins and one of 70 (so far) with no issues at all...
-
Oh, that's awesome BG! We have had a crap day here. P has been catnapping all day. *Sigh* Hoping the girls go down early tonight - they are both trashed. Don't know how I'm going to go with bedtimes on my own actually... I don't think it'll be possible without tears.
-
we're onto sleep number 3 for our princess - OMG - i'm in shock - two of 90 mins each, this one has been about half hour so far - will see how it goes. i am not going to push for an earlier than normal bed time - could create disaster for our middle of the night wake ups lol
Amy - sorry to here P has been unsettled. hopefully you'll get them both down early tonight and you can chill out...
-
This is super quick cos if i don't post i will forget. I heard the other day at mothers group that Jerry Seinfields wife has written a book about slipping veggies disguised into meals. Apparently she cooks and puree's food and then when she cooks a meal she defrosts preprepared portions and puts them in sauces....... The mum's say it is pure gold if you have a fussy eater...
Must go
Bella

Yes, I have heard of that book - Deceptively Delicious. It's where I got the idea from, although I haven't read it only heard about it. She even puts pureed veges into her chocolate cake! LOL! I reckon if I put some in cake I'd definitely get Natty to eat it
Well, they didn't go down early but they are down. Yay! I have a glass of coke (have been very norti tonight - diet be damned) and am enjoying the silence. Just BB and my thoughts :)
-
Ooops, spoke too soon. P is awake again... It hasn't cooled down here yet. She feels warm but needs to be wrapped to sleep...
-
You jinxed yourself Amy - LOL
Ooooh, have to tell you guys that my nappy covers from Krystie arrived today and they are soooooooooo awesome, will take some pics of Bailz in them tomorrow and post, DH checked the mail after Baileys bedtime otherwise I would have tried them on already LOL
-
I did indeed. Yes, do post some pics! I haven't posted any pics in ages. Must jump on there now...
-
Right I am going to get a post done if it kills me!!! DH and I keep going to bed at 9:30 so really reduces my BB time so I am going to post first browse if anytime left. We have never been night owls and are actually enjoying being up early around six ish because go to bed so early - when was hot last week was just gorgeous at 6:00AM - CJ doesn't normally wake till 7ish so is quite nice having time before she wakes up.
BG - Great going on E's day sleeps. CJ has never really been one for sleeping in my arms - just wants to play if she can see me - but her day sleeps have just started getting longer than 40 mins - not gone 2.5 hours yet but often 1.5 now. I think Amy you said around six months they tend to start sleeping longer as are more active? I seem to be the opposite of most people in that I hate it when she sleeps ages as means I have the opportunity to do boring stuff like housework etc this afternoon she had been sleeping ages and I was wishing her awake so I didn't have to finish the washing up!!!
Naomi - Can't believe how you and BG are so organised for Christmas. Tree here will prob go up week before. Mind you it is difficult for me being used to a winter christmas to feel like Christmas is coming because all the cues are different. Is funny I wonder how many years will take me to undo those cues and get used to a summer christmas, and for CJ she won't really ever know a winter christmas (as I wouldn't choose to go to UK at Christmas) - although her grandparents may brain wash her into demanding a christmas trip home. Have got fingers crossed for you and Bailey for Thursday
AFU - CJ is now out of the brace full time. Had scan last Thursday and actually showed no change in the angles from the last one, but issue with angles is very mild and as the brace hadn't improved them no point keeping it on. They reckon is just an immaturity thing and will sort itself. We have an X-Ray in 6 weeks (apparently ultrasounds become less good the older and bigger the baby gets) there is a chance that will show something the ultrasound didn't and she might have to go back in the brace - but hopefully not.
Anyway now am on a mission to get her to roll as has not done either way yet. She shows no signs of doing front to back, but back to front she seems to be getting close (maybe because I am being a mean mum and putting a toy just out of reach!) she gets right over onto her side and is in the right position when I watch other babies roll so I have told her that her mission is to achieve it by next MCHN visit which is next Tue.
Nicky - Hope you are all better for Sunday.
Amy - Hope tonight on your own goes ok.
Bella - Are you turning into an IMac geek?
