im still a zombie from last night jamie woke up like every 2 hours last night just for me to go in and put the dummy in but he did sleep till 9:30 but yeah i even had a nap this afternoon and DH had to wake me coz J woke up
should really be in bed but DH's mate just came up to visit so now i have to party lol i can always nap 2moro xoxox
Amy - He's going ok, he had a bit of a freak out yesterday arvo which was a bit upsetting, normally when he is having trouble going to sleep we lie on the bed together and snuggle on our sides facing each other (eg chest to chest), but with the brace on it doesn't work anymore, so I tried pillows etc to try to get the position happening and it just didn't work, poor little guy was trying to snuggle in and we just couldn't get our usual 'comfort position' happening. Eventually he was tired enough to fall asleep and with the help of pillows I got him all snuggly in another position but I think it freaked us both out - him cos he was getting frustrated and angry at me and me cos I was so upset - DOH. Just when I think we have it all sorted something stupid happens like that and I think "geeze another 6 months....." Never mind, we'll find a new cuddle, it will just be the three of us, Me, Bailey and Mr Pillow :o We are going pretty good though, Sean hasn't changed a nappy with the brace on yet, I dont know whats going on there, He better change one tomorrow or I will crack the ****s I reckon - I feel like I am the one dealing with it all. One of our friends said "Oh the brace doesn't look so bad" and it took all my tact not to scream at them "well you wear it then and see if you can learn to crawl and walk" FFS!! I know they meant well, but sheesh. I know I still sound a bit agro (I am), but truthfully I am pretty much used to the practical side etc and making sure I am keeping my little boy happy and comfortable is my priority. I'm not sure I'll ever 'accept' that this is how the second half of my sons first year of life has to be ...... Or, Maybe I am just having a crap day LOL
Vic - Goes the RCH offer any physio support? We have a great physio here in Adelaide. I wonder if you can get a referral to get some physio for CJ to assist with her development with her legs due to the dysplasia? It might be worth looking into. I have seen a kick toy (I think it was in target) that encourages babies to kick (it makes noise/music when they do, I dont know if it was expensive or not though. Whats she like in the bath? Bailey always kicked up a storm in there, would that encourage her to play more with the legs? I know you mentioned you had started gymbaroo, I always found I got good ideas from the instructor when I was trying to get Bailey to work on lifting his neck etc - but you've likely already gone down that path
Speaking of baths, Bailey has discovered his willy/balls hahahaha, in the bath he grabs it and just about pulls it/them off LOL, typical boy!!
Oh BG - hope E does a big poo soon so she feels a bit 'lighter'

Naomi - It's lovely to know that the spunky bums are helping Bailey to stay a little bit comfy! How great is it that he's still able to suck his own toes. Looks like you won't have to let him suck your own instead ;)
Congrats on the mega naps that Bailey is having. You must be lost having all the extra spare time during the day. Your house must be spotless ;)
Amy - Kyson has recently discovered a book that he absolutely loves. Unfortunately it's one of his mother's group baby buddy's book and she adores it too, hehe. It's one of those bath book that have the fat plastic pages. Everytime Kyson crawls over to it the other little girls quickly scoops it up so he can't have it. I'll have to get one of his own, lol.
Cathy - I've been trying to get Kyson to do the indian call thing too, but whenever I put my hand on his mouth he stops making noise and just tries to eat my fingers HAHA! Kyson is still waking through the night too. I'm still feeding him every 3 - 3 1/2 hours during the night. Last night was a welcome exception with the first sleep being 5 hours. That's unheard of for him! I find that keeping him awake longer doesn't seem to make any difference to how long he sleeps either. Hmmm, I guess I'm not being much help, but at least you know your not in the boat alone ;)
Bella - Glad you like the covers (and the lollies, hehe). I can't believe that Jemima might be already getting some top teeth! These babies just WILL NOT listen to us when we tell them to stop growing up so fast, grrrr. Kyson was at his nana's today and he was standing up leaning on a toy piano of his cousins. The cheeky monkey is going to be cruising around the furniture on his feet soon.
In return for letting us use your hotel room I hope you got lots of leftover yummies to take home hehe.
Vic - Would you believe I'm more excited about this christmas than any christmas that I can remember? Lol! The tree is already up and have the house is decorated (but I still want to do more). I need to get a playpen to put around the tree though because Kyson keeps crawling up to it and trying to get the balls at the bottom. I'm not worried about him breaking anything, just worried that he'll pull the tree on himself.
We've been loosely doing Baby Led Solids. I haven't got Gill Rapley's book, but I read through her website. We generally give Kyson foods that he can hold and food himself, but I still spoon feed him some foods. The spoon fed foods are things that he has trouble holding, like mango which is too slippery, and pumpkin and potato which he has trouble with because it just smooshes in him hands. When we spoon feed though I give him a spoon to hold which I put food on so he can feed himself (you'd be amazed how quickly he worked out how!), and I just give him more from another spoon. He had some lamb strips last night that DH cooked on the BBQ for him and he loooooooved them!
BG - I'm loving your layouts and pics on facebook. I might upload the ones I've done for Kyson's photobook and just make it visible to you girls so that the parents and IL's can't see it before they get it at christmas ;)
Jacinta - Sorry to hear that Jamie is giving you a rough time during the night. I hope last night was a bit better for you.

Naomi, things like that must be really hard. You are right though, I'm sure before too long you and Bailey will work out new positions that work for you. The adjustment sounds bloody hard though. And I don't blame you for being aggro. Pi$$er about Sean & the nappy changes... he's going to have to do it soon enough! Maybe he's just not coping so well and is in denial a bit... and needs a little nudge from his wife... (or a shove as the case may be!).

We're having a pretty good afternoon. This morning was yuck - met a friend for coffee and Natty's behaviour was abominable. She's really tired today because last night was her Kindy concert. Will post some pics on FB, but it was hilarious - she didn't smile, didn't sing. Just sat there looking either bored or cross. LOL! That's my girl. Anyway, it was a later one than normal, so I suppose I need to cut her some slack, but boy I was cross with her! Its really hot here today, so DH set up a paddle pool in the back yard before he left for work. Nat and I had a paddle while P has been asleep, and P's still sleeping which is lovely, so Thomas is on and I'm getting some BB time, and Natty and I have been over-indulging on fairy bread. Well. It's the weekend.
I can't believe it, tonight I am going to a BB meet-up! How lucky am I - two in one week! I had put it out of my mind because I kind of didn't have the money for it. But FIL (who is going to look after Natty for me until DH gets home) wants to shout me. Isn't he a sweetheart? So I really should cut it out with the fairy bread - or I won't make the most of my Greek dinner, LOL.
it was better but not as good as normal lol i dont even remember i was a walking zombie lol be hes been sleeping awesome today so i might just get my normal sleep again i think he likes mums bed better than the cot lol

Sorry Krystie - I missed your post. Sounds like Kyson is doing so well with his eating! I tried P on some pumpkin the other day. I took some video - it's pretty funny. She isn't particularly fussed yet. Didn't much like avocado and doesn't much like pumpkin either! But I'll keep trying every now and again to introduce her to a new flavour. I bought some sweet potato with the shopping the other day for her to try, but I keep forgetting about broccoli! It would be waaaay easy to cook her a couple of broccoli florets. Might give it a go this arvo.
Those soft plastic books are awesome. Natty had one that was her very favourite when she was 11-12 months old. She was reading it at her dedication service, LOL! She was so cute at that service - once she'd been prayed over etc, my mum was carrying her around the church and she kept waving at everyone and saying, "Bye!". PMSL, she was a cutie. That was her first word (that she said discriminately).

hope everyone had a good night last night - someone had to and it wasn't us! E is now up to 11 days with only a very small dirty nappy two days ago. definitely not nine days worth... and she's rather sore in the tummy, teeth playing up, ears hurting - not a happy girl. hopefully it won't get too bad
KL - i'm another that is looking forward to this christmas very much. last time i really looked forward to christmas was about five 6 years ago (my youngest nieces first christmas). DH is getting right into it too. we've now got all the deco's out. the noisy things have almost all got batteries in now, and E loves them all! train is up around the base of the tree, and the bottom third of the tree is out and about to be fluffed out. it's an all day job to put up the tree, and DH has to help me cos i'm not tall enough lol. all the furniture is rearranged and the house is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay different - but E is adapting really well! Xmas cards are printed and ready for me to write the envelopes and post off. just need my other puter fixed (for the second time in a week dammit!) so that i can finish writing up the thankyou notes from when she was born and send them all together (i'm a tight ass, save on postage and all that lol)
well, i'm off - it's my little poppets half birthday today, so we're having a family day together. putting up the tree, maybe the lights outside if the weather holds up. and i'll be taking photos of all the Xmas stuff during the day to post tonight
BG - I look forward to seeing some christmas photo's of your decorating, I am looking forward to xmas also - having a child certainly brings a whole new meaning to it for me as I am sure for you guys too :)
J - I think the babies definately prefer the parents bed, whether we are in it or not, I guess it smells like us. Bailey always sleeps more soundly and longer in our bed (which is why we do a fair bit of co-sleeping I think). Its not uncommon in the mornings that he stirs around 4ish and if we pop him in with us he goes straight back to sleep. I hope Jamie grants you more sleep mate
Amy - You are such a BB meet-up hussy LOL, good that you are going out, good on you. Bless Natty and her kindy concert, cant wait to see photo's. DH is on the nappy changing now. Bailey did about 8 poo's today - tiny little nuggets rather than his normal big poo's. I gave him porridge, perhaps that 'dried' him up abit? Anyway, Friday night was my night to sleep through (not that I did of course as Bailey was not happy with Dad so I got up for cuddles) and anyway that started Sean's nappy changing again - yaaaaah!!
Krystie - I have seen those little books, I know the ones you mean, perhaps Santa will bring Kyson one? hehehehe. Yeah, thanks so much re the nappy covers - cant wait for kyson-o-saurus hehehe. You'd think my house would be spotless with the extra long naps but last week I really didn't make good use of the time, I was just mooching around instead LOL
Sorry about YET ANOTHER vent, but today has sucked arse! Bailey has been quite upset all day which ended with an almost 3 hour screaming session. Eventually I settled him but far out, he's never been like this. He has a blister on his leg from the brace which I think was the instigator of his agony, but it just got to the point where nothing we were doing would help. He is moving his lower legs around a lot with the brace on (which is good as I dont want him to regress in that area) but its a double edged sword as then there is the risk that the brace will rub and result in sore patches or blisters. I am going to ring our orthotist in the morning for some advice. I nearly took the bloody thing off and took to it with an axe this arvo. Poor Bailey was crying, I was crying and Sean was crying, we just didn't know what to do - Arrrrrghhhh!! I know it will get easier. It's been a tough weekend, we had the two sets of grandparents around last night for a BBQ which we'd previously put off and I should have put it off again as I really wasn't in the mood to 'deal' with the stupid comments - MIL asked when she arrived if Bailey had his 'frame' on :o - as if his too big tracksuit pants, bulky thighs and splayed legs aren't obvious enough. Anyway we all knew a stupid comment was going to come from that direction didn't we! However I actually got my first compliment from the IL re my mothering skills yesterday - wow! My Mum seems to have gotten the hint and backed off (she was smothering us with her well meaning sympathy which was making it a bit hard to move forward) so thats good. This is all a bit harder than I thought, and a bit of a roller coaster, but I am still grateful its not worse. I have connected with a girl from Optus who's daughter was diagnosed at 15 months - and she had to wear a plaster spica for 15 weeks and is now in the same brace as Bailey, so there is always someone worse off. But she is lovely (as all Amy's are ;) ) and has been lovely and supportive, like with Vic, its nice to talk to someone who has been through it all
Right - off to spend some quality time with DH - it's not ALL about Bailey (just 99% ;) )

Naomi - Does Bailey wear socks or anything under the brace, I know somewhere back in the Hip thread there was someone talking about sores on there and the suggestion from others and me was to put the chopped up socks on under brace like leg warmers. We never had any but the orthotist when told us about the chopped up socks said they were to avoid sores. Must be really hard when sores develop - hope they give you some good advice tomorrow if you are already doing the sock thing. We used to get the is she wearing the brace now thing all the time too - and my thoughts were just like yours - isn't it obvious!!! Motherhood has taught me that people say the dumbest things something just because they want to say something. "Is it a little girl?" When CJ is wearing a dress etc. etc. IL's are particularly bad in my case of saying stuff just to fill the air!
AFU - Put some carrots and banana in front of CJ today - lots of playing a little bit in mouth probably swallowed none!! Have been very creative today and made CJ some rattles out of old wondersuits, those little containers you get soy sauce/wasabi in at some sushi places, bits of old bras, coins, and then embroidered on some faces.

Naomi - I can offer up some baby legs too. I got some for Kyson that I've never really used so you are welcome to them. I think they look really cute, but DH doesn't like them, lol!

Krystie- I had soo much food left over after the party it wasn't funny!! I think I took home more than I brought down with me. I looked at the room when I left and it still had a bunch of food out on the table and just wondered what the staff were going to think! They probably thought it was one hell of a party. Which it was!

Amy- Sounds like a laugh at the school play! Oh dear! I love Fairy bread too btw! It was my only treat for my 30th cos I was 41weeks preg... LOVE it. You made me think about pools tho. We sure are gonna miss the one here when we go home.. We are 5mins for the beach but there is nothing like being able to strip off and jump in a pool in your own back yard! I saw Phoebe going at the pumpkin too... she's very good with the spoon. Am I the only one still not on solids?
Naomi- I am really glad Vic and BG mentioned about the leg warmer things... I actually just ordered some today, just as a coincidence for Jemima's knee's cos hers are getting really red from the floors. Today tho, I did cut up some of her socks.... mind you they rolled down really easy. I am hoping that the leg warmers do the trick for Jemima and for Bailey if you decide to try them. Sorry about you MIL honey... she sucks... I know what you mean about ppl making stupid comments to fill the air. only cos it is ussually me making them when I feel uncomfortable! Mind you, I think that how you feel about a person will determine whether their stupid comments annoy you or not. I wish we could all come and give you a hug... or when Bailey's crying and he just won't stop, to give you a break and let you go outside and take a deep breath so you can help him better when you come back in....... I just want to say that if I can ever be of any help please ask..... I guess the nurse in me is coming out that I feel helpless watching you all suffering and not being able to help. I hope that we can all be of comfort to you here.
Vic- You are really creative with keeping CJ entertained arn't you! I often look at the things you record yourself doing with her and draw inspiration.
BG- hope that E gets more comfortable soon......and that DH is holding her when she does! LOL.. I love the sound of your house! IT sounds like christmas heaven. I haven't even thought about the decorations yet.... ussually put them up a week before..... but you have inspired me to do it earlier for J's sake.
Bella, E only started on solids last night. i was holding out til six months and then we decided to start. J is still a couple of weeks off that milestone, and may not be ready even then... E did a lot of gumming, not much went down - but that's ok. she will learn and eat what she wants. BM will still be her main food source until she decides differently. we are going to go with baby led solids, and just let her guide what she does and doesn't like. don't rush it if you're not ready though! I will happily continue to feed BM for as long as e wants me too. E was ready for food as well - she has been trying to help herself to food from my plate for weeks! watching us eat intently, and when she was given the food yesterday, it went to her mouth, gummed, and when a bit broke off, she didn't swallow it whole or anything, she gummed it til it was soft and stuff - kept working it in her mouth...
i'm not feeling great this morning - have a bit of a headache. put my neck out when i went to bed last night so didn't sleep great - have a bit of a queasy tummy to go with it.
stressing too - going to concert with DH tomorrow night - and i'll be leaving E for several hours with my mum. she should be fine - she WILL be fine (mum will be at my cousins place not too far from the concert so i can feed E just before and straight after - and leave EBM with them) - but i haven't been apart from my girl for more than a few minutes ever. one very anxious mummy here
Vic - I actually remembered your sock tip yesterday when we were trying to help the little guy, but as we had enough trouble getting the brace back on (we didn't even bother with the harness yesterday), when I tried the sock trick yesterday he was just so upset and thrashing about I gave up just to give the kid a break. I put a bandaid over the blister to protect it and my all time favourite balm - lucas paw paw - that stuff rocks - and it seems better today. I actually went on CJs facebook photo's yesterday to have a look at how you did the sock trick - so it looks like you have the socks over the brace cuffs and secured with some tape? Is that right? I got some socks over the cuffs this morning but didn't have enough tape, so will get some today. Also, I have been thinking about many things of late, but one thing that upsets me is that now that I realise how much this all sucks I know I didn't show anywhere near the support to you and CJ as you have been so kind and thoughtful to show Bailey and I and I just wanted to say the biggest THANKYOU. I just didn't realise what you were going through and I realise what an incredibly strong and awesome mother you are (the awesome bit I knew already). So Kudos to you Vic - you really do inspire me :)
BG and Krystie - thank you soooooo much for your generous offer of the baby legs. At the moment I am going to try the sock trick as I will otherwise be inclined to cut up the babylegs (which I dont want to do) as it gets warmer so with any luck the socks will provide the solution. If I do find I need them I'll call on your lovely offers, so very sweet and I appreciate the practical solutions. BG I completely understand your anxiety re leaving E - I cried the first time I left Bailey. I hope you have a wonderful time at the concert and I bet once its over you will have an overwhelming urge to rush home to E. Perhaps this anxiety is the cause for your headache too? Anyway, I hope it all goes well, and you can have a great time with DH
Bella - cheers for the medical advice also, it is soooooo helpful to have you in our group as your medical background is appreciated and helpful. I know what you mean with wanting to help. When I have listened to you guys struggling through different things there is always that overwhelming urge to come and help and its only distance that stops me, many times I have wished you all live within a reasonable drive (although you might get sick of me then LOL)
Kat - I think Bailey is in love with Ivy - I was showing someone our BB meet up photos and when I got to the ones of Bailey and Ivy he was leaning forward to touch the screen - hehehehe too cute
I spoke to the Orthotist today and she was helpful, she said I can loosen the brace cuffs slightly eg so I can stick two fingers under the cuffs rather than one and she again suggested breast pads on any parts that are rubbing, I have almost a full box left so I have quite a few solutions up my sleeve now.
I really need to get started on my christmas shopping, I had great plans to have it all done before december before all this happened so need to get cracking, I dont want to be rushing about the shops the week before xmas - arrrggggh that would suck.
Oh and like Bella - I would love to send you all a christmas card via snail mail so Bella would love a copy of the list, have PM you my addy

BG - totally with you on the anxiety leaving bubs. I haven't left her for longer than a quick dash to the shops or once with MIL to go to the dentist and it was really tough. Think they cope better with it than we do though! Hope you and C have a fantastic time at the concert.

BG: I hope the concert is just wonderful. It is so hard leaving them, even after the first time. I haven't left Phoebe for longer than an hour and a half (have done one shopping trip when I had to pick up Natty's sand and water table, and a dentist visit), so I can well imagine that leaving E for a few hours would be causing you a whole heap of anxiety. Nothing I can say that would ease it, so I'll just wish you a good time even though you'll no doubt be missing your girl.

Naomi: PMSL @ BB meet-up hussy!!! I feel exactly that. Completely spoiled. We had a great time at the dinner, but by golly I'm glad FIL gave me the cash - it was a pretty exxy night. We had a divine Greek banquet for dinner, then went across the road to "The Chocolate Room"... nuff said? I met a couple of new people and got to hang with some I already knew. It was very cool, but not as cool as our one, LOL!
So sorry to hear about Bailey's sores. I am glad they are looking a little better today and glad that you got some good advice from the orthotist. I'm sorry I am totally useless to you - I just know I have absolutely no idea how hard it must be, so tend not to say anything much in case I come out with something stupid. But I do think of you a lot.
I actually started my Christmas shopping in earnest today. Got some toys. Not sure what to get for my 'big' nieces and nephews though, so I think I've still got the hardest part to come! IKWYM though - I am desperate to avoid the shops the week before Christmas. Somehow I always end up there though.
Vic: I LOVE the sound of your little toys you made! You'll have to post some pics on FB (if you haven't already - haven't been on there today) so we can admire your work! It is much cooler here today, but feels slightly muggy now. The good thing about the weekend was that it was hot but pretty dry, so it didn't feel too stifling.
Bella: Natty's pool is just a blow up boat, LOL! I'm sure having had an actual pool you'll feel like a blow up one is COMPLETELY lame, but I'm sure J would be just as happy with it ;) I'm pretty sure Phoebe isn't eating the solids really. She's not that keen. I'm just introducing her to the flavours and hoping she'll pick it up soon. She was more interested in the spoon than the food on it, LOL! TBH I am probably rushing her, but I am keen for her to eat so that she doesn't need to have too much milk while I'm working. It's silly of me, but I kind of feel like if I feed her lots either side of my working day and she has a solid meal in the middle, then she won't need to drink too much milk. It's only going to be 2 days per week. The fact is, she doesn't like the bottle and I can't help but feel that if she's going to have them it'll only be if the boob isn't forthcoming... which kind of means if I want her to take it for real, I can't offer the breast for that feed. KWIM? So that's my reasoning for starting her early. It's kind of dumb though because she'll probably be like her sister at this rate and just be completely disinterested in solids til around 8 months.
I am just loving P's babble lately. She is starting to annunciate her jibber jabber more these days and it is just gorgeous. I love it when she's just finished a feed and she looks up at me and starts 'talking' while her tongue is still kind of in the feeding position... hard to explain! But very cute - like she's saying, "Well. That was tasty."
I have been sooooo tired again lately! And I know there are others of you more tired than me because P at least does a good stretch overnight. But when I wake up I feel like I could literally sleep while I walk - it hurts to keep my eyes open. This morning after P's feed at 6am I put her back to bed and lay down on the couch intending just to rest my eyes until 7 when Natty would be sure to wake up. DH woke me at 8:15! Natty had been reading to herself, poor little champ, and DH had been totally unaware, getting up late and having his shower thinking I was downstairs with the kids! LOL, poor Natty.
I think it's one little baby's bedtime now, so I will dash off and hopefully get a chance to post Natty's pics while she's asleep!
Amy - LOL you are not totally useless to me, in fact I think Bella was right when she said ......anything you guys say I know is said with total sincerety so it actually DOES help :):

well, i got brave today and left DD for about 40 mins with Daddy - went to the PO and had to do a heap of stuff sending parcels and things. came home, no bubba or daddy in the house, felt a bit blah - found them in the garden (it was raining when i left so wasn't expecting it lol) - Daddy coped, but did forget to put a hat on outside. i got "but it's overcast" - hmmm, daddy has skin of leather - he is yet to learn about sensitive skin and the need for hats and sunscreen. the old saying "it didn't hurt me" is starting to REALLY bug me!

DS stayed with the IL's all weekend, and I LOVED it! haha. I'm so evil.
I actually quite enjoy having time off every so often with no kids. Even with no hubby.
Allira has had weekends at my parents and nights at my IL's a couple of times so far. I'll be heading up to Sydney all things going to plan in Late Feb, so I'll be away from her for 3 days.
Don't get me wrong, I love these kids, I really do, but that time on my own is bliss.
Ahh overcast weather. It was cloudy as here on Saturday and I was slly and didn't put sunscreen on.... and I was read raw. I'm pretty good with the kids... but I'm not so good with myself.
Count me in on the hug giving. I can do that pretty well. Mine are usually nice and squshy... extra bulk ;) I'm not someone to offer advice unless I know what I am on about. And I apologise if I say the wrong things sometimes... Foot in mouth is one of my drawbacks.

Nicky: Natty does that too. And she uses her feet to 'help' Phoebe roll over. Sigh. I'm more bothered by it than Phoebe though I think. You're not slack - you're incredibly busy! I can't believe you are able to find the time to post on here at all! I understand about enjoying your time on your own. I love Natty to bits, but thoroughly enjoy my Natty-free days. It's just I'm very nervous about leaving Phoebs at this stage. I think it'd be different if she'd have a bottle. I just don't want her to be upset because she doesn't have any boobs close by. I don't think I could leave them overnight just yet... Have only spent one night away from Natty and that was my night in hospital after having Phoebs! Some time next year DH and I are going to go to Melbourne together and leave the girls with Mum and Dad for a weekend. Probably once I've tried it I'll never go back, LOL!
BG: Glad DH did ok with E... although bugger about the hat. I suppose if he doesn't burn then he just doesn't think about it for her. I burn easily and the girls have very fair skin so they would burn easily too. Pooh to "it didn't hurt me"... What sucks most about that comment is how bloody unsupportive it is. It is in no way helpful or even relevant.

BG - How was the concert? And how did you go leaving E with your Mum, did she drink the EBM? Was thinking of you and hoping you could relax and enjoy :) DOH re DH and the sun. Vic - you are very clever re your imaginative toys. One idea the CYH gave us which I have been meaning to do is get a 300ml water bottle with a screw top - fill it with 'blue' glittered water and cut up some fish/star shapes out of those cheap homebrand coloured household sponges and put in there - I thought that was a great (and cheap) idea - just gotta make sure the lid is screwed on EXTRA tight!!
Amy - I was thinking, I can get Sean to have a look to see if Optus have any openings atm - we have a refer a friend program which is pretty good (and if you get hired I get wishlist points to spend LOL), they often have flexi hours or part time they have a child care centre on site, not sure how many hours you are looking for. Only thing is I have no idea if you are close or hours away - Optus has been centralised to one location in Sydney now, they have this massive campus at Macquarie Park - is that anywhere near you? Anyway, the suggestion may be of absolutely no use to you but thought I'd put it out there!

Jacinta - I have been a nerd and have (almost) finished my christmas cards, I have gone totally over the top this year with photo cards of Bailey and I even ordered those little xmas stickers that you put on the back with your name and address - LMAO, I am such a loser but I love it!
Krystie - our new nappy covers arrived yesterday - LOVE them, esp the dinosaur ones!
VERY PLEASED to say things are going MUCH smoother here with everything, I just need to sort out Baileys pants. I am trying to find someone I know (local, otherwise I'd be pestering you KL hehehe) who can help me alter them and make a couple of new pairs up. I am finding that even with bigger sizes although I can get the waistband around the brace, Bailey is swimming in material (which is just too hot) and often the legs are too narrow anyhoo, so am hoping to tailor them so the legs of the pants sit out at the same angle of his legs and once I have that sorted I will use that as a template to make some more. I need someone to get me started though as really unsure how to go about it, Mum has a sewing machine I can use but we really only use it for simple projects - this is a bit beyond me and her. The only website I found that make pants for DDH kids charges $25 a pop for pants - way too much!! I am hoping to make the pants with press studs or velcro down one leg so I dont have to squeeze them over the brace (all sounds great in theory LMAO)

Just a quickie because Kyson is going to wake up any second now ;)
Just wanted to let you all know that things are going well here. Kyson is keeping me on my toes because if I put him on the ground and turn my back for even 2 seconds he is somewhere else, lol. This morning while I was watching him he crawled out of the lounge room, down the corridor and into the "boy" bathroom. I grabbed him once he got to there because I was worried about his little knees on the tiles. I need to buy a playpen to put around the christmas tree though. It's just so totally irresistible for him! I think I also need to plug the tree lights in somewhere else because he keeps trying to get to the cord and plug...
We're heading out to dinner at a restaurant tonight, so hopefully things go smoothly. I'm going to make some dinner up for Kyson that is not too messy. Maybe cucumber or zucchini or apple that doesn't make too much mess. Hmm, maybe not apple because that goes sticky.
Oh, I forgot to tell you all that Kyson has become a pro at sitting unaided! Even since he started crawling I think he has discovered his center of gravity and can balance really well. I was even confident enough with his sitting this morning to leave him sitting while I ran around the kitchen bench to rinse one of his toys! He looks so cute when he starts to topple and manages to rebalance himself, hehe.
I think I'll be off now because I'll try to set up his wading pool so he can have a splash outside :)

arvo ladies!
concert was really good - but i'm so very tired now! we left here yesterday morning to go to mum's, shower and head off from there when DH knocked off work. got to my cousins just after 5. DH slept two thirds of the trip at least. E slept the whole trip. spent some time with the rellos, ate the dinner we'd taken with us, then headed into the city - mum dropped us near rod laver and we walked in - turns out we weren't as close as she thought - punt road to rod laver isn't that far - but when you already have sore joints from fatigue - owies!
apparently E whinged all the way back to my cousins place, but that's not unusual for her - she isn't a huge fan of the car sometimes - she was almost asleep when we bailed out of the car - i think the doors disturbed her... she was then happy for most of the time - had a small amount of ebm (only 50ml - but it's better than nothing) and a half hour kip on granma, played with my cousins and their 2 year old. she got upset about 10 minutes before i messaged mum telling her the encore had just started so to head in soon. she picked us up (back near punt road - very sore ankle today - stupid old injury!) - E was already asleep - and slept all the way back to mum's place (about 2.5hours in total) - gave her a feed when we got to mum's, then DH sat in the back seat til we got home jsut in case she was whingey. nothin. so yeah, we survived - and i only messaged mum to check on her a few times (one was to check how long it had taken to my cousins seeing she'd have to aoid the m1 on her way back, one was the encore, so really only one pointless 'mummy check in' message!)
E is now on her second nap for the day - we got to bed around half 2, feed just after 5. woke at half 9, back in bed by 11. awake at half 12, back in bed by half 1 or just after. i'm exhausted and probably should go have a nana nap - but my head hurts and i'm thinking if i lay down, i will be worse than if i stay up when E next wakes. cant' wait for DH to get home to take responsibility for her - he slept all the way home too so he's had more sleep than me - i had to keep mum awake while she drove....
had a bad morning yesterday morning with some anxiety/depression stuff - so was awake from about half three yesterday - tired tired tired

Krystie - Good work Kyson on his crawling and sitting - CJ sits pretty well but I think is a long way from crawling - still no rolling here.
Naomi - CJ wasn't here much in hot weather when in brace but I had cut up an old wondersuit to make into shorts I tried two ways one where just cut round the middle and legs and then turned the waist over and stitched it. The other I sort of just chopped the top so it was like shorts with braces and then she had a t-shirt over the top. I had purple target own brand wondersuits and I really like purple so I thought the shorts looked cool. I didn't think were too hot and the stretchiness of the suits worked. I remember though CJ pretty much lived in wondersuits because trousers that fitted over brace were hard to come by - was not so bad as was winter.
Nicky - If my parents lived over here I would be happy to leave CJ with them and will leave her for a wedding for a day when they are here over Christmas. I do find though if when have left her previously for a few hours with people in the UK or here that I forget she exists sometimes! When I was in the UK driving around I quite often would forget until came to getting out of the car that she was in the back!

Amy - I have also been feeling more tired recently - not sure why as CJ is still sleeping overnight really well - although her wake up time is getting a bit early 6:15ish rather than 7:15ish so that could be it, but we have been going to bed pretty early and I normally don't mind early starts. I do think CJ is getting a bit more demanding and less happy to play on her own not sure if it is a phase or a permanent thing but I suppose all the playing could be wearing me out!
AFU - Thanks for the advice on the leg exercises from everyone, we have been trying a bit of everything everyone said, I think there is some improvement I just need to be patient - her legs seem very strong when she is pushing against me she just hasn't got the idea that can use them to stand on I think. Went to first swimming lesson yesterday - she was so relaxed in the pool (the instructors were amazed). BLS going slowly - I am not sure she has actually swallowed anything yet and only today day four has she really seemed to get the hang of picking up sticks of stuff and sucking on them.

Well this is one tired mum! I have been having trouble with J's sleeping here for awhile but it is really wearing for me now. I am getting woken here every 2hrs or less. I think much of it is due to her wanting to bf over night due to the heat of the day making her not want to have proper feeds. So she is making them up at nights and I admit I am not coping. Probably should be getting up earlier, but the earlier part of the night seems to be her worst bit anyway, with 45min wake ups.... so it seems pointless. and I finally get energy at the end of the day too. I brought the "no cry sleep solutions" and logged J's sleep overnight. She had 7 wake ups before she woke this morn which makes 8 in total.....*sigh* oh well I will try some of these tips and see if anything helps. To those of you who have sent me your addresses, thanks. To those of you who haven't, come on girls! Having said that I may well end up getting organised and then not sending... done that before :redface: oh well I won't know if you don't send me them...

I have no advice to give, everything thats changed here sleepwise is Bailey-led, nothing I can really claim but I am sending you sleep vibes for Jemima and you. It's so bloody hard to function on such little sleep so no wonder its so hard to cope. Will it be cooler where you are moving too? (hoping there is some light at the end of the tunnel for you). We are using our air-con heaps to help with Bailey's sleeping - I am fully expecting our summer electricity bill to crack the $1000 mark - shocking I know but I am preparing myself (and my bank account) for it...... DOH! If I could pop around and do some housework or something to give you time to rest I would .......

Vic - cheers for the tips. Glad the swimming went well. It took Bailey a while to fully enjoy it - I think the noisy pool intimidated him a little at first, now he splashes and jumps around. CJ has the right idea, there is nothing more relaxing than floating about!! I can see her in 20 years floating about in a s****y resort with a ****tail in hand LOL

I'd be very interested in doing anything atm, but I've just been finding out how difficult it is to get something part time. Seems like everyone wants you fulltime unless you are a bookkeeper.
Jacinta: Phoebe rolls about the place too, but she's not so strong on her upright balance so I don't reckon she'd be cruising, even if she did have a toy-table to entertain her. I am hoping she'll start to crawl soon though - it would actually make my life easier because then she would be able to get away from Natty without my help ;)

What food have you tried CJ on? So far P has had pumpkin, avocado, broccoli and rockmelon. She doesn't swallow much either, but yesterday and today she ate a couple of tiny spoonfuls of food (yesterday was avo, today was pumpkin) and seemed to quite enjoy them, opening her mouth for more. I reckon it takes them a while sometimes to work out that what they're eating is actually food.
BG: Sound like E did wonderfully! Though I am sure she missed you. Sorry your A&D stuff reared it's ugly head. Hope you have had someone to talk through things with? I know there are loads of people on here especially who would love to be there for you if you needed it, but you have us too.
Krystie: Kyson's mobility is wonderful! Sounds like he's growing up so much already. Such a gorgeous little guy.
I am incredibly tired too - had the severe sneezes, itchy nose, mouth, throat, ears thing today. So I took a phenergan this arvo hoping to just bang it on the head so it doesn't stick around for a week. My eyes are just about falling out of my head - this screen is actually blurry! But Phoebe won't go to sleep just yet, little party animal. I just know I can't go off to bed cause otherwise she'll want me to settle her off when she's finally ready, and I'll have been asleep for like, 20 minutes or something. This has happened a couple of times recently. So I'm just going to have to plug on in my semi-comatose state until she drops off... *yawn*
Hoping the girls sleep ok tonight - they are both in new beds. We collected Natty's from Mum and Dad's this afternoon and put Natty's cot in Phoebe's room. Natty was so desperate to go to bed tonight, bless her! I'm so surprised and thrilled that it wasn't a battle to get her in there - the furthest from it. Phoebe on the other hand... well. She's rolling, rotating, squealing, squawking...

Just got home from dinner out, fed and put Kyson to bed, but wanted to let you all know that my little boy looooves Indian food! Ok, well that might be exaggerating, lol, because the only thing I gave him (besides the vegies I took for him) was some roti. But gosh he was gobbling the roti all up! It was so cute. The friends we went with couldn't believe that he was eating it without any teeth hehe. Oh, and just to show off I let him have a drink of water out of my glass because they didn't think he could do it. Good thing he managed it because he'd never actually done that before!
Also, BG, just wondering what concert you went to last night? I'm guessing it wasn't my friend Daniel Merriweather's concert? I'm shattered that I couldn't see his show, but so proud that it was completely sold out! :)
Krystie - they can do it from birth they dont need to learn how to do it just not how to spill it :)
KL - we went to see Fleetwood Mac at Rod Laver - was really good.
well, i'm in a slightly better headspace today (as is miss E) - tiredness wasn't a good thing for us yesterday. it did help me to express some stuff to DH that i've been needing to say for a while but kept biting my tongue. was so very tired - i did stay calm though - when things got too much i just walked away and left him with DD. i think he's finally starting to realise how full on it is being responsible for her when she's not well (bloody teeth - just cut through already!)
think she is going through a bit of a growth spurt too. waking through the night for feeds again (four times last night), and just being really full on.
still overly tired, i didn't sleep well last night - but i'm doing better than yesterday at this point.
BG - sorry to hear its a tough time, I wish I could come and give you a big hug :hug: - and tiredness just adds to any issue doesn't it? The only advice I can give is to look after yourself and keep talking it out when you need to.
If you can, try to take some naps when E does today - bugger everything (and everyone) else - they can wait!!! :)

Bella - I do know how you are feeling in regards to the MASSIVE lack of sleep. Allira's not great at the moment, but at least we don't have night feeds and she dozes off quickly.
Lachie on the other hand... He was a horror. He was still feeding 5 times a night at 10 months of age. Very draining, but I guess I didn't know any different. There is hope though, because as soon as he hit the 12 month mark and was walking really really well, he zonked. He was doing 12-14 hour nights from then on and he's loved sleep ever since! It's very rare that he wakes up now. I didn't do anything to change his sleep, He just did it all on his own. I hope that Jemima decides that sleep is awesome very soon.

Vic - Glad to hear the swimming lessons went well! We haven't started Allira yet... probably in the new year. BLS is going very slowly here too. I think I had better up it from one meal a day to 2 now though. Allira doesn't seem like she gets alot down, but I am always finding a surprise in her nappies the next day. LOL. She absolutely LOVES it though, and is still thriving on milk, so I guess we just plod along.
Naomi - Good luck with the pants! I've seen a few sites and even groups on facebook for clothing for 'Hippy' kids. I will have to see if I can find them again ( another friend's daughter has HD). I've also got some boys babylegs/huggabubs here if you would like them. Lachie used a few pairs a handful of times, and we've got some that were never worn.
Jacinta - Walking around the table already?? WOW! How clever is your little guy! I know I just want to tie down Allira so she stops doing things... My baby's no longer a baby :(. LOL
Things going alright here. Allira's same old. Just about crawling.. she's up on hands and knees and can get her legs going, but hasn't quite worked out her arms. She will sit up unaided for a few seconds. I think her longest is 10 seconds, but mummy hasn't been pushing it. LOL I don't want her to grow up...:(
We've had Lachie in Jocks for the first time today. He went really well in them for a few hours, but then wqe had an accident with number 2's and he asked for a nappy. I caved in. LOL.
I'm not going to full on TT for a little while yet, but thought we'd have a go today.
He has also thrown his dummies in the bin which is WEIRD! He's gone to bed recently, and whinged for about 5 minutes for his dummies, but then silence. So he's either dealt with it, or he has a stash that I don't know about. LOL

Jacinta: Is that like an exersaucer? We borrowed one of those when Natty was a bub and it was great to get 10 minutes of peace without her crawling away somewhere, LOL! She was older though... I think about 10 months.
Nicky: Girls have been doing well in their beds. Phoebe didn't know the difference, and Natty only worked out last night that she was able to get out of bed herself, LOL! But she only stuffed around for about half an hour before climbing back into bed again. She started crying and carrying on and I thought, "here we go", but when I went in there her sheet and blanket was askew and she said tearfully, "Mummy, my blanket is being silly!" PMSL.
Cool that Allira is almost on the move! GL with the TT - we are still struggling with it bigtime here. It's starting to get me down (not that I let on to Nat about it). She is almost 3 and she has NOT ONCE done a wee in the potty or toilet. She likes wearing undies and if we are at home I let her choose what she wants to wear. When she's in undies I regularly put her on the toilet, but she never goes. Just wees on the floor and I never manage to catch it in time or see the 'signs' that she needs to go. Feels like I'm going to have nappies everywhere forever. *sigh*
BG: Hope you got some better sleep last night. Glad you were able to clear the air a little with your DH. Sorry you are doing it tough. We have had some sleep issues here too the last couple of weeks, with P waking 3-4 times in 10 hours. Last night was great though - she only woke once! Was wonderful and she is so much happier for it this morning. I'm hoping it was a spurt too and that she's over it now... Time will tell, I suppose.

We're going to my cousin's baby's baptism this morning. He's 3 weeks older than Phoebs, and it'll be lovely to catch up with them again.
I've booked an appt with the nurse this Friday for both girls. I keep forgetting to book in for P's 6 month shots though... better call the dr tomorrow and see if we can get in.
