OMG Peanutter - you poor, poor lady :(
I think you sound amazing considering what you've been through - I have everything crossed that things sort themselves out & you don't require the surgery xoxoxo

Big hi to everyone else - we're doing great here - just finding it a little hard at the moment for the time on the computer between everything else!

Carmelo is doing great - feeding every 3hrs (longer streches overnight by about 30mins-1hr) - I'm feeding him on one side with a nipple shield though, as he just can't seem to latch on to my right side properly :(
Speaking to lactation consultants, they all say its fine and normal for a premmie to have a few issues in the beginning!
He's feeding great, though & otherwise is just perfect :D

We're kind of co sleeping at night - its been so cold & he has been a little unsettled between 2am-6am so I've just popped him in with us inbetween those times.
Otherwise, he sleeps fine either in his cradle or in his swinging cradle.

He's just woken up now ready to be fed so that will leave me at the end of this post! BBL ;)

Everything going well here.
Miss S is feeding like every 30 - 45mins during the day though which is doing my head (and (.)(.) in!!!! ) But sleeping during the night - cuddled up to mummy most times till I get sick of her and put he back to her own bed (I need to spread out) Shes sleep for about 3 hours at a time during the night which is good because i would go nuts otherwise.

We applied for a couple of houses today so :crossfingers: we get one of them. I'm not looking forward to the packing and moving bit though :(

Things have been absolutely mad crazy here...ended up back in hospital when Tehya was 2 weeks old...had to have a D&C due to 'retained product'...gosh I was sick! Then finally get home and DH has a virus...headache sore throat thing...and now I feel like I'm getting it...terrified bub will get it...have already had her at the GP and diagnosed with reflux (just like her big sister so I knew straight away what we were dealing with!) so glad I got onto it straight away...with A it took forever to sort out but onto it this time and the meds have made a huge difrerence immediately..so reflux it is! A is teething and seems a little quiet...I think we're all getting sick and I'm so scared for Tehya...and suggestions...reassurances that she will be ok would be great...hoping the breast milk will do it's magic and protect her???

Hi Ellie - Sorry to hear about your rough start. :hug: We've also got the cold/sore throat/virus type thing, but breastmilk will protect bubs as best as possible. She may still get it, but it will be a milder form of it and shouldn't affect her too much. Just keep on feeding though, even if she doesn't seem interested. It will keep the immune system supported, keep her well nourished and keep her hydrated.

As for Miss A, she might just be a little quiet as she adjusts to having a little sister, and combined with teething, she might just need some time. Lots of love, cuddles and kisses to her, big changes all happening in her life right now.

Sunshine - How'd you go with the houses? And how is your daytime feeding going? I hope those (.)(.) aren't getting damaged! Emmelyn did that to me on the second night in hospital before my milk came in, and being a human dummy is something I can't do, so we introduced a real dummy. And she has proven herself a comfort sucker so I know for us that it was solution. Not my preference, but she needed it. I also knew that she was a good feeder so it wasn't going to disrupt her feeding. In fact I had overfeeding issues with Jett in the beginning, and I am very wary of that happening again. So when I mentioned that to my MCHN she told me that I am doing the right thing by giving her a dummy, rather than using me. My MCHN is a lactation consultant too, so doesn't generally encourage the use of dummies. Anyway, that was just me having a ramble, not telling you to use, or not use a dummy, just letting you know I can feel your pain! :hug:

Hollybolly - Glad to hear Carmelo is being a little angel. I had to use a nipple shield with Jett too. When C grows bigger he will get the hang of things without it! :hug:

Minimax - Big hugs to you too :hug: I don't have any suggestions for dealing with Max. Jett is a little bit younger so not quite as defiant I imagine. The only thing I can suggest is to not force anything, and ride the wave out. He will come around eventually, he's just testing the both of you to see if he's still just as important as he was before his sister arrived. Again, more kisses, cuddles and love from both of you. Plus a little more patience from DH ;)

Miskilla - Did Z behave the other night at dinner? I always find with both kids, that whenever I have to be somewhere by a particular time all hell breaks loose and it never happens!!! I hope it didn't happen for you!

AFM - Not much to report. Started driving again today. I feel fine and have had enough of being stuck in the house and relying on everyone else to get me out and about. Still limiting my heavy lifting though, which unfortunately includes Jett. I have held him a couple of times when DH has been holding him already so that I am not lifting him up. Although now that I am driving again and don't have anyone helping me then I will have to start lifting him in and out of the car. Oh well, I'll just have to be careful about how I do it. Emmelyn has been unsettled today, but I think it is only the second day since she was born, so I'm not complaining. I have a feeling that it might have been the lasagne I ate last night creating tummy ache for her. I had it last week too and she was unsettled after that one too.... but who knows!:rolleyes:

Thanks MT...feeling a little less emotional today and a little better...have put Tehya in the baby born for the first time this morning and she is so content and 'cooing' while she sleeps...thank goodness that something is working. Thanks for your support girls...will catch up and be a better buddy with personals soon once I surface from this craziness :)

Completely agree with MT regarding Miss A. Here Miss J is being the complete opposite! She is being a nightmare child! LOL

HollyBolly - glad to hear things are going well with you and Carmelo :)

MM - We have been having similar issues with Miss J. We have had to be firm cause she's pushing all the boundries but still make sure we make time for her on her own with lots of kisses and cuddles and tell her how much we love her etc. Hoping it will start working and getting easier soon. I feel your pain. Big :hug:

MT- i totally get the house bound thing. But more so here becuase Miss J is sick and has been since I came home basically and Miss S being so unsettled and feeding so often. Enjoy your time out and about. xx

Hi Everyone!

It has been some up & down days for us - luckily its the days that Aly has been tricky. Poor little thing has had wind a fair bit, so lots of patting & rubbing. I think its just part of her getting used to be 100% on formula now. The Karikare Gold is working much better than the S26 Gold though. She can poop now poor little thing. Nights have been great (the last 2 anyway), not that there have been too many really bad ones. Aly slept for 5.5hrs straight last night & I woke up with a big fright that something had happened to my little girl, but no, she was just happily snoozing. She woke up about 1/2 hour later though looking for food.
Sorry to hear alot of you have colds/flu's etc. I guess it is the time of year for it. I figure if we just hibernate at home for the whole of winter we will not get sick! Not a very practical plan but would be nice!
Our fur kids are still a little out of joint with the new arrival, but they both like to check in on Aly every now & then & make sure she's ok. We are trying to give them heaps of love too since they have been our only "kids" for many years now.
Anyway, best do a few things while Aly sleeps. Take care all and enjoy your little ones! xo

AFM - Sheriden is still feeding every 30 -45mins. It's doing my head in! She's still only going to sleep if we cuddle her or she is cuddled up next to me in bed and feeding to sleep. She's only sleeping for about 30 - 60mins at a time the rest of the time shes crying/screaming and wants to be held. I think it's wind so lots of patting and rubbing and when I think it's gone she starts again. I think if Miss J did this I wouldn't have gone for number 2. And having Miss J sick (ear and chest infection) it's been a massive challenge. Hoping things will settle VERY soon. Mummy is exhausted and just wants to sleep. Last night if it wasn't one girl it was the other.. i think I had a total of 2 maybe 3 hours sleep!

We were approved for a house so will most likely be moving the first week of July which is good. Nicer place (bit smaller though..) and we get rid of the PITA RE. YAY!!!

Better Go - Sheriden is awake YET AGAIN!

Just quickly dropping in. Feeling really crap - I developed mastitis overnight. I had the same thing with Jett too so I was on to it much quicker this time, but still feeling the body aches and pains that fever brings. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. And hopefully Emmelyn can clear the blockage soon too - cos it is very painful. :crying:

Sunshine - you are sounding like you need a really good rest, is there anyone about who can come and give you a hand?

My mum will be here the week after next until then it's just me and DH. Today has been pretty good. Sheriden slept in her bed most of last night which meant that I could get some sleep. I'm always conscious of where she is when she is in bed with us so I never sleep properly. And to my absolute shock horror she only woke twice for a feed! We'll see how we go tonight.

OMG girls we sure have it all going on don't we!!! I hope everyone is managing to get some sleep and maintain some sanity. I've only cried once today...when I realised DH hadn't changed DD1's nappy since breakfast and she was about to have lunch!!!!! Felt so guilty that I hadn't even checked she was ok, just assumed DH had it all sorted...won't be making that mistake again...he did redeem himself by taking her into town this arvo which she loved...and gave me an hour with DD2 who slept...finally...and then I didn't know what to do with myslef lol!!!

Re bub's feeding lots...they are all around 4 weeks now and this is when they have there first 'growth spurt' so it might be all different in a few days...I remember with DD1 thinking my bb's would fall off...hang in there girls!!!

Just a very quick one checking in before the next feed!

Logan is going well, he has lots of wind but no reflux like ds1 so that's a massive blessing! We've been going to a chiro and that along with the brauers colic seems to be doing the trick.

Hope everyone is going well, will be back later to post properly.... the boob monster is calling my name!!!

It must be mad for everyone at the moment. I don't really have the energy to post at the moment....had such a bad night! (sorry selfish!). Darcie was crying for about 2 hours. I attempted an early night at 9:30pm, but she didn't go to sleep till 11:30 (and constantly feeding during that time to try and keep her quiet!)....then no sooner have I shut my eyes than Max is calling me because he's lost one of his dummies in his bed and can't find it. Max also ended up in bed with us from about 1am....and he is snoring at the moment too......what an absolute shocker! Hope tonight is a better one!

HOpe all is well for everyone, MT I hope the mastitis isn't too painful for you. I have what I like to call 'wolverine nipples'.....if they get cold, it's like razor blades shoot out of them. That isn't pleasant, but I can't imagine how awful mastitis would be.

Ellie, how has your DD1 been coping? Has she chucked any megga wobblies? I thought that having a 2.5 year old might have made it easier because he would be easier to talk to than a younger child, but his nose is seriously out of joint and he can't get his head around the shift in focus. I am still paying loads of attention to him, but he is really trying to push the boundaries. In a way, I think I will be glad to get back to the mundane life that is Singapore and have my own space, house, routine to follow. Hopefully that will make things a bit easier. Poor Max is seriously out of whack....and not just because he has a new baby to contend with.

Well it's nearly 8pm and I'm about to have a very well deserved cup of tea and cupcake - then I'm off to bed early.

today was my birthday, but didn't feel like it! did lots of feeds, changes, cuddles and other bits and pieces, and had the maternal health care nurse over ...

still sore, still leaking, still all a bit feral down there, but praise God, still no infection :)

as world cup is starting, I've notified that night feeds are his domain - if he's happy to get up at 4am for soccer, then he can get up around 3.30am to feed his son...

For the first time in a very long time I'm sitting in the lounge, on the computer in total silence! Everyone else is sleeping and this is bliss!!! Mind you, it is 6am, but sometimes a girl will do anything for some time alone! :p

MM - I don't think it matters what the age is of the other sibling, ds1 is turning 5 in October and he too has been pushing boundaries and being a right little brat! A big argument with daddy last weekend scared the pants off him (daddy is usually the fun one who never yells, that job belings to me!) and we had a BIG chat in the morning about his behaviour and he's been better. Not great, but better. It's a lot to have their whole world turned upside down. Especially in Max's case where he's not even in his home. When do you go back to Singas?

Peanutter - :happybirthday: Hope your family still managed to spoil you in some way! I do understand though, I had mothers day in hospital, Logan was 2 days old, and it just didn't feel like a special day. We usually do a big family lunch that goes on for hours.
Glad to hear there is no infection in your bits! That must be a huge relief! Here's hoping it all clears up really soon for you!
Good work on the World Cup Feeds! If I could loan my boobs out to dh to feed through the night I would! Dh is a pom and I'm preparing myself for a month of a very tired, grumpy husband! :doh:

Ellie - don't feel too bad about the nappy change, and yay for dh for taking her out for a while to give you some peace!!! :clap:

Sunshine - sounds like you're not having too much fun at the moment. Logan was wanting to feed every hour or so for a while, the midwives told me I need to stretch him out to around 2.5 - 3hrs or all he's doing is snacking on the fore milk, getting the nice sweet stuff, having a catnap then waking up hungry in 45mins coz he didn't get any hind milk to actually fill up his tummy properly. Apparently doing all this snacking can also cause them tummy pains and extra wind. We bought a dummy and dh had him in the lounge for a couple of hours trying to keep him happy and settled while I hid in the bedroom with the telly turned up so I couldn't hear it. It was really hard knowing L was out there upset and feeding him would make him happy but I am sooooo glad we did it! When the time was up and I fed him, he fed like a trouper, drained my boob, then slept for 2hours!!! It was fantastic! Now he's on a 3hr schedule (his doing) during the day. I demand feed, so sometimes it's a little short of 3hrs, sometimes a little longer, but this seems to be his rhythm.

Peta - glad it's all going well for you! I'm sure your furkids will adjust soon! We have a dog and a cat that we had to introduce ds1 to when he was born. The cat is fine, the dog.... not so much. She's now an outside dog during the day and only inside at night when bedroom doors are shut. She's a small dog but really old (14yrs this year) and is a little old lady. I just don't trust her around kids, especially as she gets older, her hearing is going and her eyesight isn't the best. She's likely to get startled and snap in fear rather than out of anger. Poor little love.

AFM - we're doing ok! Logan is feeding roughly every 3hrs during the day and longer overnight, anywhere from 4 to 5.5hrs which is lovely for me! Chiro is fantastic! I think it's really helped with his wind, the chiro has been on hols this week so we saw his replacement and I noticed a big difference! He's been so grizzly and uncomfortable. I'm sure some of it is a growth spurt as 5 weeks is a 'wonder week', but he's been doing lots of leg pulling and tummy crunching as well. Chiro is back on Mon! :dance:

Got a busy weekend this weekend, have a 5yr old birthday party today and a 6yr old party tomorrow. Dh has to work tomorrow as well which is poo! He works in retail and the shops are open for a charity day, I know it's a good cause but retail is such crap hours at the best of times I'd like to have him home!

Anyway, I'm going to enjoy my last 20mins of peace before ds1 gets up and might even watch some telly that dh has recorded for me! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Things are really tough here atm. (just did a big post in the baby section)

As in, stage (1) baby is feeding contentedly, stage (2) baby is feeding while arching back and looking a little distressed, stage (3) baby pulls back and cries for a little while, stage (4) I get baby back on the breast, and he keeps feeding for a while, before repeating the process ...


any ideas? help?
