Holly - what wipes wash are you using? I'm only using water at home and still using disposable wipes when we're out.
Also, what nappy are you using at nighttime? I still have Logan is sposies at night.

Sharon - I'm using Bubblebubs foamy wipes wash :)
Slowly making my way through all of the yummy fragrances ;)
So far my faves are French Vanilla & Chocolate covered Strawberries...
You can either buy it already made up & it comes with 6 small wipes (perfect size for the nappy bag) or you can buy the concentrate & make it up yourself with distilled water.
I've tried both & either works perfectly.
I love it because the foam dries itself pretty quickly, before you put the nappy back on.
As far as nappies go, I'm still only using prefolds with covers both day & night as my little man is still too small for even the smallest size mcn ;)
I have a few ready to try but they're still waaaaay too big to even fit let alone keep him dry!
Sorry I'm no help there!
The prefolds seem to work fine during the night, the last 2 nights we've had 5hr stretches & no signs of leakage..... It's definately got a lot to do with what covers you use, too, i think.
Holly - Funny you mention about the overfeeding - Darcie will NOT take a dummy, but will happily munch on ME (annoying) and she poo's like it's going out of fashion. She just does little ones at a time....different to Max who seemed to be like a regular MAN and poo'd at the same time each day....and it would be a whopper! Her little bum and bits look so sore, red and dryish. I have to change her so often it's not funny.
I would be using cloth, but all my nappies are in Singas, so a few more weeks and I'll be onto it. I have a feeling that maybe she has had a bit of a reaction to a Huggies wipe as she did a #2 today which went up her front, and I wiped it, and she ended up with little red spots on her belly. I MooGoo'd it and it seems OK now. I have been giving her more 'top and tail' baths than big proper ones coz it's a wee bit chilly....but I might get her into the bath a bit more...it might help.
I am also on antibiotics at the moment coz I got a bladder infection, could that be affecting her too?
Dummies Those using them, did you have to persist with it? Darcie gags when I put it in her mouth. I have tried good 'ol Happy Baby (cherry type and an ortho type) and also Avent. She does better with Avent (which doesn't please my hip pocket) but still gags and carries on like a pork chop.
Reflux To those poor bubbas out there with it.....how did you know they had it? I'm not sure if Darcie has it coz she only has one real screamy time of the day, but she seems in such pain.....?
Older Kiddies How are all the new older siblings going now? Max has definitely turned a corner. He is much better behaved of late (we'll see what happens when DH gets home on Wednesday night!). It might be easier too coz I'm learning how to juggle better!
Well...I'm off to bed...Darcie is finally happy sucking on her dummy so I'm off to see if she stays quiet...she usually has her screamy time right as I want to go to bed!
Nighty Night all
:)
Nappy rash - MooGoo works wonders for nappy rash. Good to use with cloth too. We find disposable wipes are a real skin irritation. Jett still gets nappyrash if we use disposable wipes too often, which childcare don't seem to understand, so he seems to be in disposable nappies more often than not these days because I have a zinc based nappy rash cream for childcare (Alot of the nr creams suitable for mcns have almond oil in them which alot of childcares places won't accept due to nut allergies). So yep, the best thing to do is use cloth wipes (Big Softies available in Big W, Target, Kmart etc have a 12 pack of face washers which are just perfect for using as bum wipes) and you can use either just plain water or use a foamy solution. We tend to use the foamy wipes solution from bubblebubs too - Creme Brulee is the fave atm, but I also like sun washed linen for a non food related fragrance!! We still use disposable wipes when we are out. Before Emmelyn was born it was because we didn't need to take too much for Jett so would just take a nappy change wallet with a couple of disposable nappies and wipes and nappy sacks. It would then be easy to carry about with us and not take up too much room. Now that Emmelyn is here I am carrying around a nappy bag again, but I have to fit in enough nappies and wipes, changes of clothes etc for 2 so disposable wipes just keeps the bulk down a little.
Cloth nappies - We are also using a mixture of cloth and disposables for E atm. Still way too small to fit in to most of my mcns so prefolds with cover and a few aio suitable for nbs get used. I remember Jett didn't fit in to his mcns until about 3 months and even then we had leg gape issues!!
Sharon - How long is it between feeds at night? If it is the same as during the day - 4-5 hours, then you should be right to stick with cloth during the night. It is when they start stretching the time overnight that you might need to use sposies o/n. I still use sposies o/n with Jett. Night nappies are expensive and I've got to find the right nappy before I buy one to try! I don't know why I worry though, he doesn't wet at night, hasn't since about 9 or 10 months old!! But I do worry about the first wee of the morning!
Yules - When Darcie has her screamy time of the day can you smell that acidic vomit smell on her breath? If you can that could be an indicator of silent reflux. But it could also just be arsenic hour.... is it late afternoon/early evening? As for dummies I have used the Avent ones with both kids. I know you say bad on your hip poocket, but the truth is Jett is still using the 3-6 month dummies I bought for him when he was 3-6 months old. The bigger size has exactly the same size teat, just a different shaped mouth plate, no doubt to make you buy more!! He doesn't chew them so they don't wear out. I know the latex ones wear out a lot quicker so you will need to replace them. So I figure you are probably going to spend the same amount whichever option you choose!! As for getting them to take it, Emmelyn also sometimes gags as well. I find that it can sometimes be the tongue reflex pushing it back out so I give her a moment or two and then try again. I also hold it there for a few moments until she gets the good sucking action going. It is hard work for them to try to figure out how to get it all coordinated!! And yes, they do all spit them out often at this age, so keep persisting if you want her to have it. If she's still not interested by 3 months I would say she doesn't need one, but you get to be the stand in!!
Yay for Max turning the corner. I love the photo you got of them together - I still haven't been that lucky!! Everytime I try he lifts his arms and leans away like she's something poisonous he doesn't want to touch!!
MT Where do you get the bubblebubs wash? I'll head off to Big W today and get some big softies too....I saw them yesterday.....SHOULD'a got them!!! grrrrrr!
I don't notice an acidy smell on her breath...maybe that's the "i'm tired I wanna go to bed" cry.....poor thing though carries on for a little while....falling asleep in between. I think her bum is pretty sore as the crying always seems to calm down after I've changed her. It is pretty chilly getting their little bums out, then wiping with a cold wipe. It's certainly not my idea of a good time anyway! I have MooGoo MSM Soothing cream, and it seems to be calming down the redness.....she's going to get a nice warm bath this morning before we go out too. I even bought some MooGoo for myself, as well as wash, AND my Mum bought the AntiAging cream too....it's such nice stuff
We had 3 poo's overnight. Two within 10 mins of eachother, and a nappy change in between (annoying!) I am using 100% biodegradable nappies at the moment (I was given them for Max and they were still in the bottom drawer) so I hope that they might be a bit better on her bummy regions too.
The Avent dummies I'm using for D are left over ones from when I had Max too.....He never used them, but so glad I kept them!
Jett will get there soon enough.....I find it's easy now with Max if I just keep him engaged and talking about what's going on. Last night he was telling me that when HE was a baby, he drank from my boobies and it made him big and strong! He doesn't seem jealous or anything of Darcie which is cool, but he is very busy, and needs to stay that way! He is starting to get an amazing imagination, playing with toys, having them talk to eachother and all sorts. I thought I'd never see him play on his own, but seems I was wrong about that! Today I'm going to take him to an indoor play centre to let some energy out. Sharon if you read this in time I'm going to one in O'Connor (tropical twist) if you fancy getting out of the house and meeting up? With any luck Darcie will just sleep while I play around with my big boy.
Yules, bubblebubs is an online store, just google bubblebubs cloth nappies ;)
Your only issue will be deciding between all of the fragrances :D
If you get the concentrate, make sure you buy a pump bottle, and I just bought the distilled water from coles in the aisle with the ironing stuff. Think it was $3 for 2L, lol!
Cool, thanks I'm onto it! Best do before they have to send stuff overseas instead :)
And they have 20% off atm for their EOFYS sale!!! Buy a couple of pump bottles - they do pack up after a while and I keep one for the nappy bag and one in each of my two nappy changing areas for easy reach!! I buy the concentrate - the ready made stuff you go through pretty quickly!
It is cruel getting their bums out in the chilly air for a change. That is where using a cloth wipe run under warm water is a bit nicer for them. Speaking of bums, Miss E is sounding like a pot boiling so I had better go and get her bum out in the cold air!!
Hello Ladies!
Well we all seem to be progressing very well!
We currently have our friends 3 teenage kids staying with us for the week (we put them on the plane to Tassie on Sunday) and my god, they just don't stop!! I don't know if I could handle more than one child. In turn, Aly has had a disturbed week of sleep and routine. She has been sleeping most of today while the kids are at school so that is nice. Really not a lot to report here. Aly has now made it to 4.1kgs so she is now in the "average" weight range & the doctor is finally off our back about her being small. She is booked in for immunisations in a fortnight so that day will be yucky.
Anyway, she seems to be waking up so best go. Take care.
Just popping in to see how everyone is doing :)
I've had 2 nights where little Mr has had a few unsettled moments, but really nothing to complain about at all... I really can't believe how lucky I've been to have 2 wonderful babies.
Master Carmelo is 7 weeks today :o - Wow, time flies... what took a lifetime to get here is going so fast now, I want it to slow down a little ;)
He's booked in for his needles tomorrow, so I may be back tomorrow to take back my above statement
Hoping everyone is doing well :D
Hi girls,
Holly - all the best for the needles! I have to book Logans in a weeks time, ds1 didn't even flinch when he had his, fingers crossed he's like his big brother!
Peta - yay for the weight gain and being in the 'normal' range!
Logan is doing well, we had his 6wk check on Monday this week. He's 5.8kg and 57cm long :o I think I'm raising a giant child!!! He was 4.3kg born and 52cm long so that's a LOT of growing to do in 6weeks! Everyone keeps assuming he's on formula and I'm overfeeding him! He's 100% breastfed!!! I've already had to put him in some 00 jumpsuits, he's just too big for the other ones!
Sleeping is going ok, he'll feed around 7pm, then 12, then 4:30am. With good sleeps inbetween. For some reason he won't take a dummy at nighttime and is happy to be wrapped and put back in the bassinette and he'll just drift off. I'm very lucky there, no time consuming settling... yet! During the day is another story! He'll have little cat naps here and there with 1 decent sleep of about 1.5hrs. Can't really expect much more though, the poor kid is dragged in and out of the car for kindy drop off and pick up 3 days a week!
How are all the bubs doing? Has anyone else's discovered they have hands? Logan is constantly sucking on his now he realises he has some!
Better go, got to get ready for kindy again!!! Hope everyone got sleep last night and has a good day today! :D
Ha - Sharon - Darcie & Logan can get married....they are on the same time schedule!
BBL - The kid wants to suck the life out of my nipples!
sorry girls been MIA for a while. Have had allot going on... not just with Miss S.
I've been stalking the thread seeing how everyone is going.
I've missed heaps so I won't do personals this time.
Hope everyone is enjoying newborn snuggles. xxx
Sunshine, I've been reading your other posts. How are things gonig with Sheriden? Is she settling down a bit for you?
xx
:hello: gorgeous may mummies!!!
just thought id drop by and say hi with a bit of news!!
had our 12w NT scan yesterday and worm looks great!!! everything measured perfectly and worm seems to be a bit of a cool cat.... the whole time we were there it was on its tummy with hands over its head and feet crossed... relaxed much?!?!?!
my cervix is looking good, closed which is good and its measuring at 2.9cm which is .4cm longer than my pre pregnancy scan in march....
that doesnt make much difference to the situation the stitch will still go ahead as planned....
i have my OB appt at 415 today so ill have a date for the stitch today! :hide:
and the biggest news of all........
we had a gender guess come back at 60/40 that worm is actually
a wormette!!!!
wont be getting to carried away till its confirmed but its looking likely!!
hope ur all well and loving ur newborn cuddles!!! xoxoxoxo
Shes extremely full on. She hasn't been too bad today and had a few really good hours sleep this morning. I spent that few hours with Miss J having some one on one time because I feel i've neglected her so much. We are going to do the cranial stuff and see if that helps. It's taking a huge toll. I've got my mum here for the weekend so looking forward to a little break. The Zantac appears to help a bit. Just taking it one step at a time.
Hey girls!
Crumpet!! So great to hear from you hunni and Im thrilled everything is going so well for you!! And huge WOW to 'wormette', that is so cool! Keep us updated, hope the app went well today xox
Sharon- Zarlens 6wk check is next week but I recon he will be almost as big as Logan! And the hands he has also discovered! However it's quite annoying when he wiggles them outta his wrap in bed and wakes himself up.
Holly- Hope the needles went well and little Carmello didnt shed too many tears!
My lil Zen baby is doing well, still sleeping amazingly (touch wood!) he even went 8.5hrs the other night, but usually will go for 6hrs then another 2 or 3hrs... so its usually only one wake up a night. Daytime he doesnt sleep for long, sounds a bit like Logans routine! He also wont feed to go to bed at night, he likes to be wrapped and either go to sleep in the rocker or his bed. He has discovered he can squeel today haha its so cute... he is making alot of baby talk noises too and Iv been getting big smiles since last week. He is in cloth nappies all the time, a mix of prefolds, fitteds & those snap in 2 thingys, the nappies are so cool I still have them arriving in the mail all the time lol, addicted much! Alot of what I have he still has to grow into, Im buying too much I guess! Also using the foamy wash here.
Tasman just cooked up a heap of mini lemon merangues, yummo! She's a sweetie, on her days off she takes Zarlen out of the room once Iv fed him in the morning and she hangs out with him for a few hrs while I sleep in. Last weekend I woke up 4hrs later! He was only just getting hungry at that stage. Feeding is going good, evenings he feeds heaps tho. We have noticed if we are out in the evenings visiting family or friends, after a little while he CRACKS it bigtime.. he likes to be at home! So no more evening outings. Cant really complain though cos thats about the only time he really has a big cry. He doesnt like to be held by other people much yet either, he will start to grizzle and if they dont hand him back to me all hell breaks loose til he is back in my arms heheh awwhhh mummas boy!
Better go to bed, he has an hour head start on me at the mo! Nite xox
thanks hun!!!
sounds like zarlen is going great guns!!!
ok so i had my OB appt girls and as usual it was slightly drama filled
my OB will only do the stitch with once certain assistant becasue they know each others moves and there is no confusion, basically they read each others minds, its a confort thing and he said the stitches he does with this guy are so much better and less risky.....
turns out this assistant is on holidays and isnt back till the 12th of july- 3 mondays time......
so im booked in for then, and have to take it easy until then, ill have another scan in about 10 days to see if my cervix is still co-operating and if not then we will find another plan, then ill do a quick stint of bed rest at 14weeks till the op!!!
its not ideal the amount of time we have to wait but its the difference betwwen a good stitch and a cruddy one so we are happy to wait if thats what my OB is happy with.
hope ur all well!!!
xoxoxoxo
