Hi Everyone!
I did a massive post the othernight and then my wireless dropped out and I couldn't get it reconnected. It is doing this alot lately!! Very frustrating!
Anyway, I am sorry to say that I haven't even had the chance to read, let alone post, so I am sorry everyone *hangs head in shame*
As for us - still cruising along. Emmelyn has slowed down her growing, but still growing well. Jett is doing wonderfully. He stopped running away as suddenly as he started. I figured out he wasn't jealous or being mean to Emmelyn when he was ripping the blanket off her, or flicking the dummy out of her mouth. He wanted to help, but tucking her in again or putting the dummy in her mouth. Gotta love the logical minds of 2 year olds! Since I figured that all out it has been fairly harmonious in this household.
Peanutter i saw quickly as I scrolled down the page something about your routine not working. I tried to change Jett's routine a couple of times and each time it just made things worse. Since then I just follow his routine - it isn't always how I would have it, but it works for him and I can at least adapt to it. Even dream feeds upset things. Good luck with it, but my experience is, if you can work with his routine, stick with it. It will only be a few more weeks until they change it on you again anyway!
The next Wonder Week leap is 19 weeks (from EDD, not actual birthdate) so we all have a bit of a reprieve for the moment! Unless anyone is currently in the 12 week one. If so, it will be over soon!
Ok, gotta run - I have so many emails that I have to read and delete before the kids wake up. Thankfully they both decided to have a nap at the same time!
-
MT - im in the 12 week this week.... what can i expect!?
-
thanks for the thoughts, mummytummy - Joshua does fabulously with our routine, it's just that we tried to improve on it (to get up to 8hrs sleep a night) and it worked the first night, but never again - and went much worse (with several wakes a night) ...
since going back to the original routine, Joshua was pretty unsettled for a few days, but is calming down, and is now only waking about once a night ... and hopefully that will go away again, now!
but we're looking to improve again, but more gradually :)
our little man seems to like routine, which is perfect for us - we're just making sure it's convenient for all of us, and that we don't let the routine be a rod for our back. for example - we'll still go out, but make sure we can feed him if we need to (but might end up with feeding being an hour late, as long as Joshua is ok, etc).
-
Peanutter - Oh absolutely, little ones love routine and as long as it works for you guys they tend to fit in with it. I was just talking about my experiences! I think that is the case with most bubs - as long as Mum and Dad are happy, they are happy. So if improving your routine is going to make your life better/easier, than go for it! :)
Yules (and everyone else who is interested!! It is all still relevant!) - The 12 week development leap is "The World of Smooth Transitions" - where they begin to understand smooth transitions - continuous changes in sights, sounds, tastes, smells and touch. Their movements become less jerky. Things like the gradual change of light from daylight to night time, voices changing register as they talk, body changing from one position to another etc are becoming apparent to them which unsettles them. The stormy/clingy period is likely to last anywhere from one day to one week. Behaviours indicating this change can be any or all of the following:
- Crying more often
- Wants you to keep them busy
- Loses appetite
- Is more shy with strangers
- Clings more
- Wants more physical contact during nursing
- Sleeps poorly
- Sucks thumb, or does so more often
- Is less lively
- Is quieter, less vocal
Best activities for this stage are physical games where you move their whole body around - zooming through the air, sliding up and down your legs, tick-tock swinging with full accompaniment of sounds and varying speeds, leg horsie rides, swooping in to nibble their tummy or nose with appropriate drawn-out sound (eg - ahhhhhhhh-boom), feeling different fabrics as you fold the laundry with fingers and mouths, or any different types of textures, and the 'stand-up, sit-down' game.
Top toys are wobbly toys that bounce back when swiped at, a rocking chair, toys with squeak, chime or other simple sound, rattles and dolls with realistic faces.
This is the point where everyone notices the baby as a real little person with personality, no longer the little helpless baby.
Take care everyone!

Hey Ladies!
Hope you have all had a lovely weekend. So pleased its the last week of winter!
Crumpet I am delighted to hear everything is going so well for yourself, DH & wormette.
Wow MT! I didn't know that there was a 12 week thing. Looking back this is probably what was going on with Aly a few weeks ago, not separation anxiety like I thought. Where do you get all of this wonderful information? I keep searching on the net but nothing I find is quite what I've been looking for (re stages of development).
Well, the Black & White Ball was a success & I even managed to win Best Dressed Female somehow!! That was a wonderful surprise & I got me a bottle of Moet. YUM!! I will crack that open after we move into our new house on Thursday I think........or Friday arvo if I'm too buggered!! It was so good to spend some time out with adults & not have to worry about being a Mummy for a few hours. Aly is going well & she & Daddy have spent lots of time together this weekend which has been very nice for both of them. The poor little thing screamed for 2 hours with Nanna last night though while we were out. Not to worry, Mum wasn't concerned & just put her to bed in the end & she fell asleep. I guess her bed was a little "safe" haven and a known entity (even though Mum is too, but you know what I mean).
Well, hope you all had great weekends & look forward to speaking soon. xo

Is anyone else feeling more tired now then they did in the first 6 weeks of delivery?? OMG..Isla is only waking once a night for a feed, but at least 3 to 5 times for her dummy to be put back - so I can't move her to her own room yet - or I will literally be up all night. I am just soooo tired, that things are getting left to the wayside like laundry and dinner, I don't even have the energy to push my butt over to mothers group or shower till hubby gets home. I am thinking I need the dr to check out my blood chemistry see if I am lacking in something.
AND..anyone elses hair falling out by the truckload????
-
Krikkit....YES...hair is starting to fall out in clumps in my hands...blergh....I'll soon have 'tufts'! As for the other stuff, I am tired, but I just don't have time to be tired IYKWIM. I have to get out for my sanity so I push through it....BUT I do have someone cooking my dinner! I'm so lucky! Glad to see you back in here too :)
-
So disappointed bout the hair! I WAS looking really good, but now its just thinning out daily, poor Isla is always covered in my hair.
I try to push through it Julia, but I have fallen asleep feeding Isla so many times lately - I am just over being over tired. I have gone back to when she sleeps I sleep, but its so hard when she doesn't sleep well during the day AT ALL, unless she is lying on top of me. Sometimes I take advantage get comfy on the couch and let her sleep on me and I fall asleep too, I know its a big no no, but I wake to her every sound.
-
Krikkit - There is one thing I must stress to you..... Nothing is a big 'no no'....you do what works. I did the exact same thing you are doing with Max. I remember vividly one day he had fallen asleep on me while I was on the couch, and I woke up and I'd dribbled all over his head!! I had my ritual. He'd be tired, Id make sure I had the TV & Foxtel remotes, a drink of water, the home phone and my mobile in poll position. Sometimes I just wouldn't have lunch coz I didn't want to move him!
Darcie doesn't sleep well during the day at all either. I have to carry her to put her to sleep, then I put her down in a swing I borrowed from someone (thank goodness) and I will get 40 mins out of her at the most. I am just rolling with it. She still seems happy, and sleeps well at night.
Last night Max actually didn't wake and want me in his bed with him till about 4:30am....at which time Darcie woke and wanted a feed too.....but, you guessed it....I lay there AWAKE from about 3am coz I am just so used to being awake. I was just kicking myself that I couldn't sleep, when I COULD have been IYKWIM!
-
krikkit - I am pretty tired - have had a couple of days when I've been all but useless because I've been so zonked ... but not so much I've thought about going to the Drs, etc ... maybe I should! But because I'm at work, DH does almost ALL the night settling, bless his cotton socks ... so I almost never need to get out of bed between roughly midnight and 5.50am. It would be very different if I had to do any night settling!
As for hair, I've noticed that I need to clean my brush out every day or two - when normally, it would be every week or two. I've also noticed a lot of split ends - I might need to cut my hair ... farewell, lustrous locks!
afm - seeing the surgeon tomorrow ... wish me luck, ladies!! I'm not sure whether the fistula has healed over, but we're really praying that it has. God does miracles, and we're praying He is doing one in me! I saw they Ob yesterday, and she couldn't see a hole, but wasn't sure. So she took a swab to run a test to see if there's any stomach flora or other bacteria etc in there (ie: to tell whether there's still a hole between the zones).
Send me prayers!
I'm trying to keep the silver lining in mind though - if I do have to have the surgery, then I will get more time with darling Josh and hubby while I'm recovering. I'd of course rather *not* need major reconstructive surgery, but I'm reminding myself that it wouldn't be the end of the world if I do - I can still have kids, I will heal, and it could have been much MUCH worse.
Will keep you posted ...
-
Hey everyone!
Sounds like all is going well. Peanutter I hope your appointment went well today. You have a very positive attitude about the whole situation & that has to be a good thing.
Krikkit I'm not too tired, we're very lucky, Aly sleeps through from about 730pm - 500am each night. Not much during the day, but I can't ask for better than that! My hair doesn't seem to be falling out any more than usual. It definitely needs a trim, I can't even remember the last time I went to the hairdresser.
Well tommorrow is moving day so I will be offline for a few days. Stay well, have fun & be good (or be good at it! Ha ha ha!). xo
-
Hey girls...
Peanutter- hope your appointment went well hun, thinking of you. You really do look on the bright side and good on you for doing so!
Peta- Good luck with the move lovey!
Julia- OMG jealousy! A maid to cook and clean for you! hahah I bet you enjoy every minute of it! OMG Max is sooo adorable in the pics on FB, I love the one where Darcie is screaming and he's like 'whats ur problem' so cute! He's gonna be a heart breaker when he grow up I think! And then Darcie with those gorgeous pale blue eyes!
Krikkit- I get what you mean about the dummy business! Z only wakes once for a feed but I put the dummy in a couple extra times each night. He is mostly in our bed so its not too much of a bother. Plus now when he wakes for his feed, he lays next to me in bed and we both fall back to sleep heheh.
Re hair... mine hasn't fallen out at all so I dunno whats the go there. In fact mine seems thicker and shinier since getting pregnant!
So my lil Bubba Z is doing great now! Turns out my milk supply has gone awol due to my antiboitics so I started on the fenugreek (amazing stuff that!!!), milk thistle and I was expressing too. Now I can get 160mls with expressing woohoo. Just freezing it for later on if I have a couple of drinks one night.... oh how I misssss a couple of drinks every now and then lol.
Took him to get weighed last Thurs and he had gained 220g in 7 days!!! I was so uber chuffed with myself cos thats the most he had EVER put on. Prior to that he wasnt even gaining the required 150g a week. Going again today to see how much this week!
Talk soon ladies!! xxx

Hi there, just a quick reply ...
Well, neither the obstetrician nor the surgeon could see the hole (though the surgeon could feel a "dimple") they are both set that these fistulas "never" heal, and so mine can't have, and so I'm booked in for surgery on 24 September.
I asked the surgeon what will happen if mine has healed, and he said that they will just wake me up from the anasthetic, and when they're sure I'm ok, I can go home. So we're praying that happens!!
Whether or not there is still a hole, it sounds like they need to put me under general anasthetic to check for certain. I'm just praying that that's all they need to do - check! I'd much rather three days of discomfort and wasted milk (bowel cleansing drugs for one day, the operation one day, and then another day to recover from the anasthetic) rather than a week of yuk (extra liquid-only days after the operation) and then another two weeks recover from the surgery, plus further follow ups, etc ...
As far as other matters go, I'm over into week 5 I think of this cold - but I'm almost better.
Milk production is lower than average, however ... I only pumped about 200mls this morning (usually around 300) and 160 at 11am (usually at least 200) so am a little disappointed ... I know that the more you feed, the more you make, but unfortunately, I just can't take a third break out of work to do another pump during the day! And I can't do it on the train either ...
So I'm thinking I'll just have to breastfeed Joshua 3 times at night ... so he bottle feeds EBM around 7am, 11am and 3pm, and then I'll bf him around 6.30, 8.30 and 10.30pm ...
I'm sure he'll be happy! I may however collapse from exhaustion ... but I guess it's better than running out of my reserved of frozen EBM, when I actually need to start storing more up again, because we'll need about 3 days worth for when I have the operation ... that and the fact that if he's drinking more than I'm producing, we'll soon have to start supplementing him on something anyway ... and I really don't want to ...
Hope you've all had lovely weekends!
I'd better get back to work ...
xo

Hi girls,
Peanutter - that's great news about them only feeling a 'dimple'! Fingers, toes and everything inbetween crossed for you that they don't find a hole! Well done on the expressing! Sounds like you're going to be tired but good to have a plan!
Miskilla - Go Z on the weight gain! I haven't taken Logan in for a while... almost too scared! :D Bless my fatty boombah!!! Go the fenugreek and milk thistle for keeping up your supply, will have to remember that!
Peta - how did the move go?
Yules - any news yet on where you might be moving to? Perth? SOR??? :p
Krikkit - How's the dummy and the sleeping going? I'm lucky with nighttimes, Logan isn't big on his dummy for night, but he just LOVES his thumb! God only knows how we're going to break that habit but I suppose you don't see many men walking around the city sucking their thumbs so they have to grow out of it at some stage.... right????
I forget who posted about it but Oh My God!!! My hair is falling out in clumps and I've had to resort to caps and headscarves to hide my bald spots! Seriously!!! :o It's fine when my hair is down, I can hide them, but when I tie it up, which is most of the time or Logan has a field day!, I have receeding hair lines on both sides worse than my father!!!!! I think this happened with James but coz he was only breastfed for a couple of months it wasn't so bad, now it is clearly noticable!!!!! POO!!!!!!
We've just been through a week of crap with Logan, lots of screaming and crying during the day and evening, seems to have settled down now thank god and today (touch wood), he actually seems to be sleeping more than 15mins at a time!!! WooooHooo!!!! Mind you, I've been walking and walking this last week so he's finally used to falling asleep in the pram.
I still can't seem to shake these last few kg's and it's now going in the wrong direction  I've been saying I'm going to do something about it and I came home this afternoon to find a weight watchers advertisement in the letterbox. It's a sign! I'm going to join up tonight! Wish me luck!!!!! I'm not going to tell friends/family I'm doing it so you girls will have to put up with me rabbiting on here about it! ;)
Anyway, gotta go take the big kid to the dr, bloody winter coughs, he has one that's been hanging around for almost a week now and has kept him up the last 2 nights coughing. Poor kid, fingers crossed no-one else seems to have it!

So.....after BB crashed and lost posts....i thought we should reconnect.....HOW ARE YOU ALL??
