Hi ladies! I've been lurking, just too slack to post anything. There's been a lot happening here though. Not sure how much I'll be able to fit in one post, but I'll try. ;)
TMTM - I hope you guys had a beautiful day for Master Tom's Baptism. And I can't believe that your nephew is walking already! What a clever boy! I hope he's starting to settle in to a better routine soon too...you poor thing. Just keep telling yourself it can't go on forever! Hey, are you in Melbourne? I just had a thought - do your BBs still feel full at the end of the day? I thought mine were ok because Emma would "go down" at night time, but she started waking up in the middle of the night and needing extra feeds (even after I had been giving her solids). The midwife suggested I express some milk first thing in the morning and offer it to her after her "last" feed of the night. It worked wonders for her - I think she must have been thirsty!
Nelly - that's interesting about the sleeping stuff. At the moment Emma has a bunny that she sleeps with. I'm torn between leaving it, and trying to get rid of it. Upside of having it is that it is a sleep cue for her wherever we are. Downside is if she can't find it sometimes when she wakes up, or, heaven forbid I ever lose it! (I went and bought another one today just in case! lol) Hope Jake starts sleeping better soon!
Ray Ray - what a lovely healthy boy! Are you on FB? Or are there photos in the BB gallery? I'd love to see pics. And how amazing about cutting 2 teeth already. Very clever! :D
Tam - how did Sienna go with the rice cereal? I'm taking Fenugreek capsules when I remember as my milk supply is starting to drop off. I'm having to express every morning, and feed her what I get out at night before bed (I offer her both sides first, then the bottle of EBM). Hopefully this will help build my supply up, and I can eventually stop that, but it's working at the moment for helping her sleep, so I'll keep it up as long as I can!
Hi to everyone else - I'm going to end up writing a novel if I keep going like this, lol!
AFM - We started on solids a few weeks back. Rafferty's Garden rice cereal and fruits at first, and Emma LOVES her food! I've been naughty and given her teething rusks this week too, as she was gnawing on everything she could get her hands on, and so far she's really enjoying those.
She's sleeping really well these days. After much thought I decided to try controlled crying, and I can't believe the difference it's made to her. I was deadset against it before now, but she is a much happier baby for it (strange but true). It took one day of hell, where I felt like the worst mother in the world, but then she started to happily go down in to her cot for sleep times. And now she'll sleep in her cot, porta-cot or pram quite well. So I know it's not for everyone, but we had reached a stage where I knew that she had worked out how to make us come running when she wanted to be held while she slept, and even after 2 hours of bouncing her, she'd open her eyes when we tried to put her down. And I just make sure that when she's up we have lots of cuddles, and play time.
We've had lots of firsts this last few weeks - first swimming lessons, and first time rolling over (both from front to back, and back to front, but not together). I'm finding that this is just the most amazing journey ever - so much fun, love and laughter - and that definitely makes up for the confusion, frustration and occasional exhaustion! lol.:p
BTW - the only reason this is so long is because I can't sleep. I find that all afternoon I'm really tired, and can't wait for bed, but as soon as it's bed time I'm wide awake, and can't sleep. Grrr...should use this time to do housework or something but can't really be bothered.
Hope you're all enjoying your beautiful babies!
