Hi.
Well, I have had a busy 2 days the last 2...spent 5 hours each day at the shops.....it seems feeding, coffee, shopping, changing bums, and stuff takes sooo mcuh longer than i remembered...lol. Been so tired, but having a restful day at home today!
BW - I hope all is going well for you and your little Kaylee! How's it going?
Traylee - How you feeling now? I know it can be hard, even if you ahve someone helping you in the night time! It's very hard once there are more children, I kow I find it quite tiring dealing with a 3 year old and a baby, C wants things done when I am feeding or changing E's bum. And he doesnt like waiting!
Hi to everyone else! I can't believe E is 3 weeks old already! Where does the time go? I guess when you're feeding and soo busy all the time, we just don't realize how fast its going by!
i think the colic stuff gave runny poo, im actualy thinking its reflux lol, bad me, im gonna talk to health nurse on mon and check but all her symptoms point to that,
the constant wet hiccups, arching back, spewing or major vomiting, unsettling,
i have started to prop her up, and feed her up right, and not put down straight away.
sheas so bad again last night like 3 bottle between 3 and 7,30 then she slept from 7.30 till 1, then vomited thn woke 2.30 i gave her 30ml for top up, then slept till 5,30
Jleigh - How is the expressing going? I've been lazy with it as I find by the time I burp change, play & settle it's close to next feed. A is another one that likes to christen the change table/herself & clothes every day or two, I was going to buy one of those pretty change table covers but never got round to it and I'm kinda glad as I'd need about 3 or 4 to keep up, I just use towels that have gone to bottom of linen press when I've bought new ones.
BW - How is K coping in her brace, poor little munchkin. Hoping the next 6 weeks go really quickly for you (if like the past 5 they will fly past) and her hips are all fixed.
Superstar - I agree I LOVE my sleep and I don't call 5 hours a sleep through but definately ain't complaining :)
Traylee - How is S feeling today, hopefully nurse has some answers for you on Monday.
Sleepy - I don't know how you do it with 3 other kidlets to look after, I take my hat off to all you second time or more mummies. Hope you have a nice relaxing day today.
Erin - how are you settling into mummyhood with little H, hoping you are recovering well.
Hello to everyone else.
After only putting on 120gms at her 4 weeks check up, we had to get her checked on Thursday where she had put on 300gms in 6 days so we think the nurse didn't weigh her properly at our place as she did it on the carpet and not a firm surface. But anyways not really concerned about my milk supply so much anymore.
A has her 6 week pediatrician checkup on monday - where has that time gone? Then we are off on Wednesday for our first family holiday to Vic to see DH's family, DH plans on leaving after A's 2.30am feed so we miss Melbourne peak hour. I don't really mind coz I'll pack the night before and then sleep in car until A wakes for her next feed around 7.30......she loves the car so hopefully will be a relatively easy trip.
Hope everyone has a great weekend with lots of baby cuddles
Phoenix - I've expressed four times - got 30mL the first (which I was stoked with!), then only 15mL at the second and third (boo!), then this morning Bosley didn't want the second side so I got 70mL there but had to stop cos I was about to overflow the container! I'm sure I could have gotten more and should've maybe used another container, but I got what I needed so didn't bother! I will try the expressed feed tonight.
How long will you be away for? Can't believe that you have an almost 6 week old baby already!
Traylee - How's S today? Could it be her 'wonder week'? I'm almost certain that was why B was unsettled and feeding more often. He seems to have settled back down again now.
Sleepy - I know what you mean - just getting ready and doing the grocery shopping seems to take about 5 hours (then I'm knackered and need a rest!).
BW - Awww, sorry to hear that K's brace is uncomfy for her - hope she gets used to it quickly and hope that the 6 weeks flies by for you all.
Hi Tina, Erin, SSMumsy, Marnikat etc
AFM - All is good here! B slept for almost 5 hours last night so can't complain at all.
it may be her wonder week im not sure,
we went out last night to a friends bbq and she was grea slept threw whole ting noise and kids screaming etc,
came home she still slept, then had bottle bit before 10 hubby said she woke at 1ish and then again bit later on, although she has been having only 60mls and not puking or being unsettled so see how she goes, maybe she was havign to much there or something im not sure
Wow, Traylee H has between 100-150ml per feed! Mostly about 120ml. What a little piggy...how many feeds does S have? H has 6 a day mostly every 3.5-4.5 hours. The nurse said this was fine if he was happy! Amazing how different babies are hey! Bub is being a bit unsettled this morning but is coming up for a feed shortly so hopefully he will settle down! He got his feed, play, sleep around the wrong way and went feed, sleep, play and we are just coming up for a feed after getting up at 7am. DP was meant to be looking after bub but told me it was my turn when he needed attention at 630am....grrrrr...one feed and he needs more sleep - when is my sleepin??? He is still asleep now.....men!!!!
Cant believe bub is only 2 days off 1 month...wow time flies!
Question I have for all you mums to more than one - people keep telling me bub is going to start being difficult...I am terrified he is going to become the monster child! lol Have you found your prior bubs got more difficult as they got older???? Very interested to know.
Hi to everyone...gee it is quiet in here!
SSM - I have found with all my children that as they get older, they become more alert, wanting more attention, but I never really had trouble with them until teething started. Oh and with immunisations. They settle more into a routine, and are happy being played with. I don't know why anyone would think they become monsters....that happens when the terrible 2's start....usually between 1 and 2....lol
we had a pretty good night, altho E is having trouble with wind again. He didn't settle properly until 9.30 last night, slept til 12, then woke at 4. Up at 7. He doesn't like being put down at the moment too. I cant get anything done! I love cuddles, but I need a break! And a shower! I think I might have to get some infacol today...see if that helps, althohe burps and farts alot, so I thought he was ok with it lol.
scarlet suualy feeds every 3 to 4hrs, she usualy has 90mls of s26, i think it depends on formula they have how much they have, as if your on thinner formula they have more of it
she had 60mls then 1hr later had another, i dont wanna over do it with her cause of the relfux issues, im not fussed how much she has so long as she isnt complaining and is sleeping, and gaining weight, ill see
so she might still want 90mls threw out day, if not bit more,
Traylee - Do what's right for your bub re: feeding. My mum said when I was little I would have only 50 or 60mLs per feed and the midwives used to tell her it wasn't enough, but apparently I fed every couple of hours so would have the same amound all up anyway. And sometimes Bosley has only 1 boob but mostly it's 2 - they let us know when they're hungry.
Sleepy - Poor E and poor you! How long does it take you to settle E when he's upset? Sometimes we put B down and get 5 mins before he needs re-settling, which could take 10 mins or so and we can re-do that 3 or 4 times (until we just give in and hold him!). Or when he wants cuddles, I sometimes try to be smart and let him sleep with me or put him in the sling if it's daytime, but it's not good enough for him, he knows the difference! Lol, it's nice to know we're #1, but I know what you mean about needing a break!
AFM - B got night/day muddled yesterday and went for 5 1/2 hours between feeds! So that meant that he didn't wake til nearly 8 and it was 9pm by the time we'd done his bath - man I was tired! Then he slept til 1:45, then woke again at 4:45. He's quite hard to settle after that last feed (luckily DH stays up with him!) but I get to sleep in - it was nearly 9am when DH woke me for his next feed.
We're going to visit my work tomorrow. It's an hour's drive so it'll be a big day for B. I'm looking forward to showing him off though!
B is 4 weeks old today! :o
Sleepy - Hope the Infacol helps and is a bit more settled so you can have a break and get stuff done. After trying the Brauers Colic thingy, I went and got some Infants Friend yesterday - think it should be renamed Mummy's Friend :D I'm still amazed how many burps & farts come out of such little people lol
Jleigh - wow that's great expressing, which breast pump did you end up going with? I expressed yesterday and got 30mls and this morning got 60mls, so have enough for one feed as I have another 30mls from a couple of days ago :) We are going for about a week, looking forward to it but didn't realise all the stuff I need to take for A!
Traylee - did you manage to see nurse today? How is S going with her reflux & being unsettled?
BW - How is K getting on in her harnass, hope she's not too unhappy.
Marni - I went and got some nipple shields, for some reason A chomps my left nipple but is fine on the right.......only problem is she gags when I use them and I end up taking it off and enduring the pain. Did you have any problems with P taking them or any hints on what I can do to make her use them?
A big hello to Socks, Tina, Erin, PMcask, Superstar
AFM - Had A's 6 weeks paed check up this morning and all is good, she has just cracked the 4kg mark & 51cms - still smaller than I was when I was born, my poor mum. I thought she could have silent reflux but since she only has the issues for a few hours at night Dr said it's Colic which usually starts around 4 weeks, which is about bang on when she started acting up at night, so Infants Friend it is until it she grows out of it.
She looked at me while she was feeding yesterday and smiled and I realised I don't have a newborn, I've got a baby now......I got all emotional and teary, wish they stayed smaller just a teensy bit longer.
no nurse today i stuffed days up was next mon, but i said didnt wanna wait so have one tomorrow so ill let u no how i go, but her reflux has settled as we keep her raised up and same with her bed so she has been very good lol, even today i took her out and she slept whole time so i was happy,i still feel lazy and no im not meant to excercise but i mowed the lawn to make myself feel good, im still hangign to get on my pushbike for a ride,
i also thinking i might try have sex soon enough lol as ive been wanting that to lol,
a chic i no that had caesar down coast last week said her dr told her she can start mini pill week 2 and have sex when she is ready so thats good to no for me, althought they used the glue on her no staples or sutures, but im all healed on outside which is good,
Hi everyone i am new to this site and i had my DD on the 14th may was due june 6th but decided to arrive 3.5 weeks early we called her may she weighed 5Ib 6 oz at birth now currently 6Ib 4oz.
She is a good baby we have been having a unsettled period in the early hours of the morning but we seem to be getting into a better routine now.
i look forward to getting to know you all and hearing all about your bundles.
hi caplaylolmay, welcome to the forum, your bub sounds she is gainign weight well then thats good
caplaylolmay - Welcome! Nice to have a new face. How was your birth? Is your bub going well?
traylee - Thinking about sex already? Lol. I'm a bit scared, but I'm sure it'd be fine, it's been 3+ weeks...lol
We had a pretty good night, E didn't settle until 9pm, but he woke at 12, then 3, but then at 7am. Altho I was awake at 6, waiting for him to wake up....but I had to get the older 2 off to school anyway...so it worked out which was good.
I didn't end up getting the infacol, I forgot, but he seems to be ok, I think it's just a matter of what I am eating...DH made dinner the other night, and put kidney beans in it (was a casserole) so that affected E a bit. Just have to be more careful!
A huge hello to everyone in baby land! Hope you are all coping and not losing your minds from lack of sleep!
its an all about me post! we just had our first unsettled night...and he is continuing it into today as well :(
i dont know if he has wind (he gets burped plenty but doesnt seem to bring them up much), or if its just a growth thing. DH got up to him half way through the night but i dont like him to as he works all day and at heights on roofs.
gotta go...he has gone into overdrive :(
TinaR - I think it could be a growth thing. He is at the 2 week mark now...but in saying that, if he doesnt bring up his wind, it'll be sitting in his gut, causing pains...that's what happens to E...thats generally why he is unsettled. That's why I have to be very careful in what i eat. Once he farts it out, he's usually ok then...but sometimes it can take ages for him to get it all out....it can be really stressful sometimes. Mfaybe try lying him down, and giving him a belly massage...starting at the top, and stroking downwards, to help...i find it helps get the wind out sometimes...and its worth a try.
Tina, I am feeling you! Bub is being unsettled too :-( Though during the night he is really good, thankfully and I get 3.5 to 4 hours between feeds, although I cant help be jealous some people are getting 5-7 hours :-( Guess I am just tired. I am the one who gets up to bub during the night too as DP works all day. Our issue seems to be at one sleep he doesnt want to sleep, he cries every 10 minutes, so i gave him a dummy, but he needs that replaced every 20 min, i am getting a little stressed I dont know what is wrong with him. He had infacol and that helped for a little while, I am worried he will get overtired!
