Elijah falls asleep while on the boob when he's done. I generally burp him anyway and if he us unsettled I offer him the dummy. Once he's asleep I lay him down in his or our bed. I co-sleep at the moment with the cold snap that has come along. It makes for a better sleep for all, depending on wind. But it sure makes feeding easier too during the night. I don't pick him up straight away when he is unsettled, but I dont like leaving him to cry as I find this stresses him and I out.
Does any other bubs poop like a machine? Elijah poops so much, at every feed and in between.....I'm glad he gets his wind out, but man.....he a pooping machine!

Pish - have a great trip to Sydney, I'm so glad little H will get to meet her great-grandfather and he gets to meet her.
BW - thanks for the info on expressed breast milk, just one more quick question lol what do you store it all it? oh and I had no idea microwaving killed all the nutrients, that was going to be my reheating option of choice.
Jleigh - sounds like you've had a rough day, hopefully Bos settles well for you tonight and everyone gets some catch up sleep. A had her first chiro appt last thursday and didn't make a sound, must be relaxing for them. As for settling A is such a milk monster she is usually milk drunk by the time she's finished & burped, I wrap her and put her in her cot sometimes asleep, sometimes still semi-awake. Past few nights she's cracked it after her 10.00ish night feed and lays there whinging & grunting (she makes so much noise even in her sleep) for a few minutes. If it gets to a real cry we'll go in and pat her or pick her up give bit of a cuddle and then put her back and start the cycle over again until she settles, which isn't usually that long and it's been wind causing the problem most times.
Traylee - how are you going with the formula trials?
Superstar - Yay for surviving your first day on your own, that is one thing that is scaring me when DH goes back to work as he's really hands on too.
Hello to Sleepy, Marni & Socks hope you are enjoying your baby cuddles.
Hopefully we'll Tina & Erin joining as soon as they are settled with their little ones.
Have been out and about today looking at floor covering etc for the house, hopefully we'll get council approval in next week or so, so next step for me will be packing up the house ready to move but I've still got a couple of months up my sleeve. We are also planning our first road trip in a couple of weeks over to Vic to go and visit DH's family......think we should make it over with only 2 or maybe 3 feed stops, ahhh the things you have to consider now but it's all great & I wouldn't change it :)
-
Sleepy - just saw your post, A is another pooping machine I can't believe so much can come out of something so little!
She can poop before, during & after too, I think I've only had 2 wet only nappies ever! I get the giggles when she farts & poops as she's sucking - it's like she's gotta empty to make room for more lol

Hi Girls
I havent had a chance to catch up on all todays posts, been a hectic day here!
Phoenix: I store it in sterile milk storage bags (most chemists and baby shops have them).
I have an Avent breast pump with an attachment (like a hollow bottle) that the bag fits in, the milk is pumped directly into it, and then you take the bag of and put a plastic clip on it and bung it in the freezer. When its needed I can (havent yet this time around!) defrost it, then pour it into a bottle for heating and eating! (if you ebay search "avent disposable" they often come up).
AFM: We went to the MCHN for our 4 weeks check today, all is great, Kaylee has grown 6cm since birth, and in the last 10 days has gained a massive 435g! (yet still looks like a skun rabbit and is yet to hit the 4kg mark!!!)
I'll be back tomorrow for personals!!!
Oh and Kaylee is a poop machine too, and has a divine little habbit of squelching on out within seconds of being changed (as soon as I'm doing up the nappy tabs in some cases...and I'm not a slow nappy changer!)
-
Isn't it funny watching their facial expressions when they pooping? Lol so cute!
We had a great night last night, Elijah woke at 1.30am, after a feed at 9.30ish, then at 5.45am...so I was wrapped with that! Both DH and I had a great sleep, and I love sleep at the moment....He is doing well with his burping and wind issues - he is just a dream baby so far.....but touch wood, taht culd all change in a heart beat....lol
Pish - How was your first road trip? How many feeding stops did you have to make? lol It's nice that you are getting to take H to meet your grand father....hope you have a wonderful time!
traylee01 - How is the formula going? Having any luck finding a good one? Another good one is Karicare Goats milk. I used that one on my first son (mind you that was 12 years ago), because nothing else agreed with him. Its probably pretty expensive now tho :(
BabyWrangler - I know how scarey the first day alone is! I had to do it yesterday, but I managed it just fine, and even went out for coffee and some shopping, but boy was I exhausted when I got home! I didn't end up having a sleep at all, as much as I desperately wanted/needed one! I also did well this morning with getting the others out the door for school, lunches made and so forth! It's very hard tho....but I did it! :D
Phoenix76 - Sounds like you ahve a busy few months ahead of you! Just take your time and do it one step at a time...it can become very tiresome very quickly!
A big :hello: to Socks, TinaR and Erin who will be joining us very soon no doubt! Hope you're all well and enjoying your babymoons! :)
-
Hiya Girls!
Sleepy: I think your response re being home alone for the first time was meant for SSM....I've been on own since we came home from hospital, with DH going back from work the day after we came home from hospital :) I took boyo and kaylee grocery shopping that day!
JLeigh: I make a habit of putting little lady to bed awake as often as possible (occasionally she falls into a deep sleep while I'm burping her, in which case I make sure I give her a smooch and say goodnight right in her ear so that she stirs, that way she realises she's in bed and not in my arms.
In terms of picking her up when she cries...she usually has to wait a minute or two for me to either get to her in her room, or get to her as I'm busy with boyo!!!!
Pish: Have a wonderful time in Sydney!!
traylee: Hows the formula hunting going?
sleepy: good job on the sleeping! We are getting a few nice big sleeps too, gotta love it! Mind you...even after a good sleep last night when little lady woke up this morning I buried my head in my pillow and went "noooooohooooohoooooo" (DH laughed...I growled at him!)
:hello: to everyone else!!!!
AFM: Nothing to report!!!
-

Sorry BabyWrangler! Wow it's amazing how much we need our sleep! I just had half an hour nap, and I don't wanna get up! Sooo tired still. Lol.
Ok bubs is waking up......:(. Just wanna go back to sleep! Lol
-
My nothing to report turned a corner!
Only a minor one!
I called the specialist today to book little lady in to have her hips looked at by the orthopaedic surgeon, I expected there to be a long (at least a month minimum) wait to get in, as is the case with most specialists, but I got an appointment for MONDAY! I'm so pleased...the sooner we can start getting on top of it all the better!
-
BW - Thats great that Kaylee is getting seen to so soon!
Traylee- I used to use Nan Gold with Tiana and it was fantastic - but all babies are different.
Sleepy - Thats a fantastic night! Hopefully it becomes a regular occurance.
Phoenix - Hope A is being an angel for you.
We are all doing well here. Phoebe is a very contented baby overall. We have some unsettled times but normally nothing that can't be fixed with some cuddles. Really can't complain. FOr those who a breastfeeding does your baby take both sides at a feed? Phoebe generally only takes one but seems to be growing so I am not really worried. She is getting weighed tomorrow though. As for settling she normally falls asleep once she is finished feeding. She either sleeps in her cot in our room or in bed with me if she is unhappy.
Hi to everyone else!!
-
sleeping lol, scarlet sleeps on couch while im on loungeroom, and when it gets to dark time and im goin to bed she goes into her bassinette in one of our rooms,
-
Marni - Elijah has both sides generally. I give him one side then change his backside and then the other side. Sometimes he has one side then falls back asleep. But mostly both sides.
My MIL is buying me a baby rocker that vibrates and has toys on it tomorrow, so that'll come in handy for sleep times sometimes. I can use it when he wants to be with everyone because our cradle doesn't have wheels.
-
Sleepy and Phoenix - It sounds like you do similar things when your bubs are sleepy/grizzly/crying. We let Boz grumble but try to pick him up before a full-blown cry as we all find it too stressful and it then ends up taking so much longer to calm him down and get him off to sleep. DH really doesn't cope well if he's grizzly and always picks him up before I would - a pat and soothing words work most of the time unless it's wind.
BW - DH had to do two double changes this morning - both times before the tabs were done up he'd pooped again! Lol, glad it wasn't me! When you put bub to bed awake, how does she take it? 9 times out of 10 Boz cries and cries if he's put down awake. I don't want him to have to rely on us, but the crying thing is so stressful... Great news that you have an appointment for Monday too.
Marni - I change, feed on one side, change (if needed), then offer the second side. Most of the time he'll take it but never empties it fully. I offer that second side first at the next feed. Oh, and I put a pin on my bra strap to remind me which side I fed (first) from last time because I can't remember from one feed to the next and sometimes it's hard to tell which side is fuller!
Traylee - I am feeling pretty good during the day and not napping, but by this time of night I am pretty tired and usually feel absolutely shattered when Bos wakes at night. Sometimes I just want to be able to take my boobs off and let DH feed him - definitely feeling a little resentful on occasion!
Hello to everyone else - hope you had a good day!
AFM - We braved the shops and had a ball! Boz was so good and I bought a couple of sleep bras, which I think will be very comfy. I also bought a couple of pairs of stretchy long pants cos all my maternity stuff isn't warm enough and I don't fit any of my old pants yet.
I meant to say that the chiro weighed and measured Boz and he's put on nearly 1/2kg since leaving hossy, plus 1.5cm each in length and head circumference. I felt so proud that he's growing, although part of me is sad that he's growing up so big already.
How's everyone else's bubs? What changes have you noticed? Boz is starting to look at things that are farther away and is more interested in his pram/gym toys now than he was a week ago.
-
Has anyone else noticed just how boring/rubbish tv is at 1am to 5am? Altho I was considering buying the V Water Filtered Vacuum Cleaner.....lol. And Zumba looks good....but soooooo expensive!
Haha I really don't like tv in the wee hours of the morning!
-
lol i agree on tv,
i had scarlet last night im stuffed lol
she had bottlr 9.10pm, 1am, 4am but took like 1hr to settle and 120mls later lol
-
Awww sorry to hear you had a hard night traylee. I am quite impressed with Elijah, had a feed at 9pm, then 1am then woke at 6am. I had a hard tome with his brother, who woke every 2 hours....I guess I just expected the same from Eli. But like I said to DH, if I could guarantee all babies would be like him, I'd have 10 more. Lol.
By the way traylee, I love that name! I had that chosen as one of my short list names if I had a girl! ;)
-
yea, it wasnt so bad, i no she cant help it she just a bub, im lucky to have troy who can take over when im to tired, i just did last night cause he on his way back down coast today to get the other car and the dog lol.
i should be greatful to even have 3hrs sleep lol, as when i was pregnant i woke eveyr 1hr to pee lol and couldnt sleep, so i should stop complainning could be worse.
she just so adorable though i like watching her sleep she grins and smiles and also has alot of bad dreams.
she did the biggest spew last night and troy was holding her and he had to move to the side and it went all over my cupboard was projectile vomit lol i laughed
then he changed her bum and she had runniest poo and he was like ewww smelly and then took it off and she peed all over my bed lol,
then i was trying to watch greys anatomy and she kept farting lol so funny i couldnt stop laughing, they r just so innocent at this age
-
Lmao, I was watching greys too, love that show, Elijah does the biggest farts....lol, cute, but smelly! But at least he gets his wind out.....
And it's just so sweet when they pee/vomit/poo on their daddies....lol I laugh so hard when Elijah does it....lol.....
