I'd be happy to not take anything until we decide its definately finished. Then I would be happy to get my tubes tied. See I have always started thinking about ttc from now on and then I would fall pg by the time they were 1. If I can get to Jan/Feb and not be pg then I probably wont be!!!
-
A friend of mine has 3 kids & wanted a 4th but her DH said no. She felt the same as you & I but once her youngest turned about 18 mths - 2 years she was actually happy they only had 3 kids & that the youngest was out of the real baby stage etc. It was easier for them to go out & do things etc so i am hoping I will feel that way too, I've got no choice as there is definitely no more babies coming into this house.
-
Yeah Im thinking if I can get past these next few months I should be right. Just now is not good! Although I would have to say I am not terribly clucky but I just have a feeling of not being done yet! If things were so easy hey!
-
I think im feeling sad coz I have no choice in the matter, like I want it bad but it's never going to happen. Think that's what gets to me the most that its just never going to happen again. I'm happy with my 3 girls & know we'd struggle financially at the moment if I had another baby so even if I could have another, right now wouldn't be a good time for us.
-
Im sorry that even though you couldnt have another for financial reasons, that your choice has been taken out of your hands. I can only imagine how hard that would be.
-
I just remember how scared I was having Lexie, wondering if my uterus would cope (after rupturing with Lara), and then being put to sleep for my c/s. It was safer for me to have my tubes tied than to risk getting pregnant again, I'd hate the thought of something fatal happening to me or my unborn baby. I should be grateful for the 3 beautiful girls that I have, when some people can't have kids at all.
-
I do remember how scared you were the nights before your c-sec and how you were writing the girls letters just in case! It must have been terrifying. And you know you are right, you have 3 beautiful, happy healthy little ladies, when some people just cant have any at all. Better go before Becca bite Olivia for tormenting her!
-
Hi everyone,
its been a while since I logged in, but get the updates once in a while. All well here, Willow getting very tall, toilet trained (except at night when she is still in a cot because she won't stay in bed...though trying the bed again tonight). I have had her baby clothes out in the spare room for a long time now, finding it really tough to give them away. As much as I would love to have a 3rd DH is adamant it's not ever going to happen, so have to be happy with my two (both were IVF as he'd had a vasectomy before we met). Have spoken with a couple of friends who have older kids and most agree that it is a feeling that a lot of women have to want to have more....maybe that's why a lot of our grandparents (and some of our parents) had big families :)....
Ok, have just had Willow come out, naked but for a singlet..sigh! Hope all of you girls and your little ones stay well :)
Jo
-
Hi Jo,
Great to hear from you, glad Willow is well. Good luck for tonight, hopefully she stays in the bed for you. Its so hard giving the clothes away, most of my girl's baby clothes are gone now :( But I did keep a few special outfits. I have also sold the bassinet and a few other baby things.
-
Hope you went ok with Willow last night Jo! And good to hear from you:) Ahh yes... thatfeeling of when to stop! Its a question I have been asking for ages! I asked my mum, who had 8 children (my brother was born when I was 17) and she said she would have kept going if I had have been happy about it (I used to look after the younger ones when she went to work, but my brother was born when I was doing my year 12 and I wasnt to thrilled at the time). So even after 8 she still wanted more! I wouldnt do 8 but 4 is doable... but .... lots of buts!
Well I have sold my wooden cradle. Now to get rid of the swing, the capsule and the clothes!!! Oh and I sart work in 2 days and am so very apprehensive.... of Adam! Hope he manages ok
-
Mel, how is everything going with work? Are you enjoying it? Is Adam ok with the girls?
Lexie finally started crawling properly this moring, my little girl is definitely growing up now....and already getting into things.
-
Yay Lexie.... good stuff! Now the fun begins:)
Work went well. Adam did fantastic. Now just to keep going. I would be happy to do 1 or 2 shifts a week. I really dont want to work at all but in order to keep my nursing registration I have to do a minimum amount of hours over 5 years (around 480). I think I will be happy to start with 1 day a week. Just for some money and adult conversation. My children are still babies so I really dont want to miss out on much. Thankfully nursing gives me loads of flexability.
What are you doing in terms of work Rebecca? I like being a SAHM.... after years and years of working!
-
Glad work went well for you Mel. I love being a sahm too. Before I had Cadence I worked for an airline in the operations dept. After my 12 mths maternity leave was up I couldn't go back as there were no vacancies in any daycares for Cadence & work needed me full time. They'd already been ringing me before the 12 mths asking me to go back but I was adamant I wanted 12 mths at home with Cadence. Of course after I told them I wouldn't be able to go back to work a daycare centre called me 2 wks later saying they had a vacancy but it was too late, my job had been given away. The director at the daycare told me they needed staff & if I was will to study for my Cert 3 in children's services that she'd give me a job, so I worked at the daycare centre until not long before I had Lara. I loved it & it was a job where I actually got to see Cadence and didn't feel like I was missing out on her growing up. Plus one good thing about working in childcare is that I got every weekend & public holiday off.....there aren't many jobs like that anymore.
-
HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY LEXIE.
Rebecca... enjoy it. I know shes growing up. Enjoy every moment. x o
-
Thanks Mel. We are waiting for Cadence to get home from school so we can do presents and cake. I can't believe a year has gone by so quick.
-
How was her Birthday? Did you have the Christening yet?
OMG Rebecca, I had a melt down today. I was talking to dh about #4 last night and he said its definately out. Not only financial reasons, but coping reasons! Liv and bec can be a handful at times and hes not sure if he can cope if there were four. I went to ring the gp to get the implanin put in and I started crying! I was so teary today. Its terrible. Now Im so confused! I do and I dont want another. AAAGGGGG.... maybe I should just get it put in and if we decide down the track then out it would come. But Im so not ready to do it yet!!!!
-
Hi Mel,
Yep the christening and first birthday party were on Saturday, everything went to plan which was really good. I am taking Lexie to the doctor this morning for her 12 month needles.
Hope you're feeling a bit better today. Maybe get the implanon put in and see how you go, hopefully Adam may change his mind, or you never know, this feeling that you and I are feeling at the moment may eventually pass.....once our girls grow up a bit we might realise that we don't want to go through that baby stage again, but if you do then you can always get the implanon removed. My friend just recently fell pregnant 2 weeks after getting the implanon removed so it happened really quickly for her. Maybe try and set some mini goals. Get it in and then talk to Adam again in 6 months, he may have changed his mind by then, or like I said you might be feeling different......I hope I start to feel differently soon about it all. I have good days and bad as well.
-
Thanks Rebecca. Im feeling better this week! We had several chats about it and we... well I really!.... decided that I am going to wait til the end of the year to get it in for several reasons. Im not ready for it, I would like to lose some weight first and also to get past this baby stage and hope the feeling goes!!! I hope it goes! Or I hope I fall pregnant soon!
Things are good here! Rebeccas been a pain in the back side. I dont remember Olivia being like this at 2! She just doesnt listen, she ignores you so much that you can yell her name and she wont respond, she runs away quickly, she throws things, shes cheeky.... and cute at the same time! She has an obsession going to the toilet when we are out. We went to Mass on Sunday and she went about 4 times in an hour.... caught up with a g/friend yesterday, same thing. Drives me batty. Yet at home she wont go and ends up wetting herself coz she holds too long. At night she is fine. I was just considering taking off her protective sheet. Its one of those ones that goes across the bed and the sides tuck in. Its pretty and pink with butterflies, bees and worms on it. Problem is she quite often has nightmares about bugs being in her bed!!! So last night was a doosie! I think I will take it off! These the waterproof protector on the bottom so that would be fine.
My other girls are well. Liv is growing up so much. Such a beautiful girl, so funny, thoughtful, emotional intelligent. Amy is rolling everwhere. Shes 9 kgs now. She doesnt look like crawling any time soon though but thats ok.
Well I hope everyone else is ok.
-
Hey Mel,
Been a while since I have posted in here, how are you? How are your girls going? How's Bec going? Is she still being cheeky and doing the things she was doing in your last post? Lara is being like that at the moment. Ignores me or just grins at me when she is in trouble. Shes been in a single bed for almost a year and we've never had any problems with her getting out of bed and coming out of her room all the time up until about 6 wks ago, it is driving me insane, especially coz Michael works most nights so I am here to deal with it all on my own. She comes out a million times and as soon as I put her back she is back out again, last night I ignored her and told her she can put her self back to bed and then I went for a shower and turned all the lights off like I usually do before going to bed, she got a fright and quickly went and hopped into bed, so maybe that is what I need to do, its still annoying though, especially if Im not ready to go to bed early.
How are you feeling about the whole baby situation now? Have you guys decided anymore on if you will be having one more? I am actually feeling ok now about not having anymore. I am already busy enough with 3 kids and now that Lexie is 13 months and getting that bit older I am enjoying not having a tiny baby on my hands.
How is work going?
Hi to everyone else if you're still popping in.
-
Hey rebecca, good to see you around! Hadnt seen you on fb either. Whats news in your neck of the woods... going to do this quickly coz Beccas not listening... nothing has changed!!! Gggrr... shes just taken her shoes off and we're about to leave... see nothings changed!!!
-
I might have a little time to fill you in, depends on grumpy bum Rebecca!!! So things are going well, Amy is rolling everywhere. Shes having 2 feeds over night and bugger all during the day so Im trying to fix that. Rebeccas going well with toilet training, her vocab is still fantastic, her mood, her testing waters..... yes shes still going through that horrid stage although I can see a little bit of light shinging through!! Olivia is doing great, shes grown up so much, I just look at her and tear up thinking about how big and independent she is.... not that its a bad thing, just that time goes in a blink of you eye!
As for having another! Im still not on anything and wont be until I loose a bulk of my weight. Ive lost 9kgs now and still have another 6-8kgs to go. So once i get that off then I'll go on something! Some days I sit and think, do I really want another one? I never say no to myself. I think its more to do with money than anything oh and the fact that we dont have the room! I would ideally like to start trying soon if I could, but..... And to top it off my younger brothers wife is pg and so is Adams older brothers wife and a few other people we know and my older brother is trying!!! I dunno... thats the answer.... ok rebecca is here..... shes the light of my life@@@
-
Rebecca.... hows things? well Amy is making sure I rethinking #4! Shes driving me nuts with her not sleeping. Almost done and donner!!!
-
Hey Mel, sorry for the late reply, I read your post a few days ago but been busy and haven't had a chance til now to reply. My 3 girls have all been sick with a cold for about a week so things are hectic around here, plus I have had tonsilitis too and I'm on antibiotics, always get tonsilitis when I am run down. How's Amy's sleeping now? I read your posts of fb about the lack of sleep you've been having......it sux hey! I can't wait til my kids are better. At the moment I am 90 % ok with the fact there wont be anymore babies for me. Every now and then I still think wish I could have another but I don't dwell on it now like I used to. I still get sad at how quick my kids are growing up. I was looking at professional photos the other day of Cadence when she was 5 months (she is 6 years old now) and I started to cry. Michael laughed at me, I said its because they are all growing up so fast. I sit there and think that in 10 years she will be 16 and think it will fly coz the past 10 years have gone so fast. Lexie is 15 months in a few days. She still isn't walking but it doesnt bother me. She furniture walks heaps. My other two were late walkers too, Cadence walked at 14 months and Lara 15 months, Lexie is still a couple of months off I reckon. She loves walking in her walker though. Lara turns 3 at the end of next month, can you believe its been 3 years since we were pregnant with Lara and Rebecca and chatting on here? Lara's finally got the hang of toilet training, although I still have her in a pull up for her day and night sleep. She is waking up dry during the day so I think I should be right to eliminate that pull up but at night she is still wetting her pull up, I don't mind that she is still in a pull up at night though, the main thing I am happy about is that she is ok to go out in public in knickers.
Hope everything is going well for you and that your kiddies are good too.
-
Hey Mel, how's things? How are your girls? Lara is fully toilet trained now :)
-
Hey Rebecca, Ive been doing night shifts so sorry I havent replied sooner! All I am doing is working and sleeping and then trying to maintain the house. Adam does a great job with the girls, but today I walked in after my sleep and it was a little bit..... messy! Im not complaining because the girls are having a fun time with thier dad!
Girls are going great. I cant believe Amy is 1 in 2 weeks!
Rebecca has grown up, shes different, beautiful and squidgie... I just want to eat her!
And Olivia is a beautiful little difiant, testing 4.5 year old... and i love her to bits!
See what work does, makes you love them even more.
Glad that Lara is tt now, must be a relief! MMm Amy has just woke up, better go but I might pop back on when Im at work tonight:) Hope you are well.
Did you know that Sky Blue is pregnant.... I have her on FB!
-
You know what Rebecca... I dont know how Im feeling about Amy turning 1. Usually Im pregnant or at least trying to be by this stage. Things are certainly getting easier and I have gone back to work and its nice to see money coming in.... BUT. I dont know even if there is a but! Another would be nice. Everyone else is having babies.... aaahhhhh!
-
I know what you mean Mel. Now that Lexie is getting older & not so much in the baby stage it's getting easier. I thought I was over the fact that I will never have another baby & ok with the idea BUT my friend had a baby girl on Monday & I went to visit yesterday & now I'm clucky again. But then I sit there & think if I was able to have a 4th child would I then still feel the same & want a 5th? I don't think this feeling would go away no matter how many kids we had.
-
Oh you gorgeous girls!! I am done!! Done, done done!!! I think 3 is my quota, we are still having sleepless nights, argh, my husband is still working away so I am feeling stretched. But having said that Ollie is a gorgeous bub, very placid and smiley and everytime I think about him growing out of his babyness and not having another bubba in the family I feel a bit sad. But I am getting old now - 38 lol!!! Can't believe Amy is one now - wow and your Lexie is 17 months (?) - amazing. Okay, better go, great we still chat in here. xxx
-
It is nice we can chat in here... some things cant be said on FB.....
Are you on there Laurin?
-
Laurin, good to see that you've popped in & you & your kids are doing well....apart from the sleepless nights. Lexie is 15mths, turning 16 mths on the 23rd. She's still not walking, shes furniture walking & cruises the house in her walker though. My husband might be going away for work too so I'm sure with him being away all the time & only being able to fly home every now & then 3 kids will be more than enough for me too. Speaking of my DH, it's our 4 year wedding anniversary tomorrow. My mum is meant to be coming up on the weekend to look after the kids while we go & stay in a hotel for the night but it's pouring rain now & the roads will probably flood so not sure if she will be able to make it.
-
Happy 4th year anniversary for tomorrow.....
Hope you get a well deserved night out
Its my 36th Birthday tomorrow!!! I still feel young!
i am still up with Amy once a night and on special occassions like today, it started at 5am!
Amy is crawling around with confidence after only 1 week of being at it. I dont think she will be walking for a while yet.
-
Hello Everyone!
Loooong time since I have popped in! Busy busy with my 2 kiddies now (as you would all know how that goes!!) Bella will be 3 in December as you would all know... Man where has the time gone?? She is such a bright happy, confident beautiful lil girl! She is very switched on and always has the last word over me!
Hamish is 6.5 months old already! He is such a big boy and strong in every way! He will be a big strapping lad I have no doubt.
H man still wakes once a night for a bottle and most nights Bella is still up once.. Though last night age slept through again... One night they will both sleep through together... Won't they?!? Lol
Glad your all well!! Xo
-
Good to hear from you Kate. Glad to see that Bella and Hamish are doing well!
Mel, happy birthday for last week. I hope you had a fab day & that Amy had a great time at her party yesterday.
Speaking of birthdays, it's Lara's on Wesnesday. I can't believe she is 3 already....and all your little ones bdays aren't too far away either. It's hard to believe we were all pregnant this time 3 years ago. The past 3 years has gone so fast. I've still got all her presents to wrap, better do it some time today.
We found out on Friday that DH has a new job, he starts on the 21st November but it requires us to move. It's a very small mining town that we're moving too. I'm not sure how I will handle moving from a city to a town that only has one supermarket. There are no houses available yet so DH is going on his own & we'll go sometime next year. It means in the mean time that DH will only fly home every 6 wks or so and will only be home for like 3 days at a time. The kids are going to miss him & I will need a break when DH gets home. I'm going to be very busy.....Laurin I will understand what it's been like for you.
Gotta go & get DD1 to school
-
Great to hear from you Kate... definately know how busy life gets with more than 1 baby!!! Hope they sleep for you soon. It took quite a while for Olivia and Rebecca to start giving me a full night sleep... then Amy was born and it was all over with! Are you planning any more children?
Rebecca, thanks for the Birthday wishes. I had a great day. Did you end up getting out for your wedding anniversary? Amys party was so fun and my family suprised me with a voucher to Hepburn Springs for a day of pampering!!! yay!
Congrats on the job. Good luck with the move, It will take a while to get used to living remote. Is it a long term thing? I cant imagine how it would be just to see your dh once in a while... I would struggle!!! Good luck... exciting times ahead!
We finally got our home loan extention and now we can do our major renovations. Its a bit scary and a bit sad! Lots of memories in this house! However we need the space and its better to do it now before the price of construction goes up!
-
My goodness... Rebecca is 3! And all I can think of is... you guessed it..... mmmm.. maybe I could have another baby! And the funny thing is that the other day after a close call of dtd on o day, Adam is kind of excited.... we will have to see hey!
-
Wow! Your a super woman!! I am well and truely done with 2!
Bella is 3 in 21 days... OMG!! I have just filled in forms for 3 yo kinder... ****!! Where has that time gone??
-
I love it... but if i do have another it will be my last ever!!! I know that 4 would be my limit!
I just went to Olivias Kinder meeting for 4 year old kinder..... exciting times!
-
Happy Birthday Rebecca!!! Hope she is enjoying her day Mel. Can't believe our little ones are 3 (or almost 3) already. Those 3 years have gone so quick. You will have to keep me updated if there will be another bub added to your family or not Mel.
At the moment I am once again fine with the idea of not having any more kids. Michael leaves on Saturday morning to start his new job and we have no idea when he will be home. He will miss Xmas and we're hoping he will be home some time between Xmas and New Year but even if he does come home it will only be for 3 days and then he will be gone again. It will be like that until a house becomes available for us to rent and then the rest of us will move up to be with him, so at the moment I will have the 3 kids full time on my own until we move (apart from Michael coming home every 2 months or so for 3 days at a time). Lexie and Lara don't go to daycare but as of next year I am thinking of putting them in one day a week so I can have a bit of a break.......god knows I will need it.
-
That will be hard Rebecca. I have all 3 of the girls in occassional care for 8 hours a week. On Mondays the 2 big ones are there for 5 hours and then all of them are there on Thursday mornings for 3 hours. It gives me a break and time to clean, shop cook relax....
will update you on the another bub saga!! it isnt written in ink so nothing is guarenteed! My sister in law (Adams brothers wife) is having a boy after 2 girls. Her girls are 11 and 9 so big age gap. I must admit, there was some gelousy on my behalf when I found out. I was a bit emotional actually. So yet again, my thoughts of adding to our family need to be done in consideration of the whole gender thing. I love my girls and I would expect to have another girl but if I was to have another girl I would still morn not having a boy... iykwim! I suppose what i am saying is that i would be thrilled if we were to have another baby... aahh i dunno! A girl would be fine :) A boy would be something different!!!
