Mel, I've been waiting and waiting for your news. How are you feeling? Excited/nervous? I'm sure you will do fine. Enjoy your last moments of being pregnant. I get sad thinking that I will never get to be pregnant again and feel a baby moving inside of me.
If I don't get to chat to you on here before bub is born GOOD LUCK and I hope everything goes smoothly for you!
yep, Mel, been waiting and checking my mobile for your text :) seriously though, take your time, just enjoy the moment, enjoy Olivia and Rebecca and having a bub in your belly. Gosh Leigh, I got a bit teary when you said you wouldn't feel another baby move in your tum as that is the same for me, this is definitely the last for us so I am really trying to take it all in.
All's well this end, feeling well pregnancy-wise just on the tail end of this flu thing. Still nesting and hunting around on EBay for things :)
Okay, Mel, best of british, look forward to the news! :)

Hey girls... still here this morning! I wake up every morning and wonder if today is the day! Im getting excited and nervous just wondering what my little lady will look like, how I will cope with 3 kids and hoping I can breastfeed! I had a scan yesterday because I was measuring small for dates. All went well, its just that her head is well under my pubic bone. The Dr seems to think it wont be too far away... who knows hey! Shes measuring around 3.1kg so similar to my other girls. Am enjoying the kicks but not the pressure between my legs. I often wonder if this is my last pregnancy. More than likely yes, but Adam has been talking about a 4th lately. No definate but still it could be there. I dont think I could go in it with the hope/want of having a boy because its taken so long for me to accept and start getting excited about another little girl. I am at ease with it all now, but I dont know how I would go emotionally doing the whole disappointment again...it was hard work, even up to recently because just about everyone I know is having boys and I still dwell on that at times. My friend from school had her baby yesterday and she now has 3 girls. It makes it easier for me in a sense... anyway just thoughts coming out of my head!!!!
Laurin- I have your number in my phone and I will text you as soon as.... we are done! I have put in this elaborate plan, which i really hope works.... have baby, call my mum to bring the girls in and spend family time, then call other family and text friends and do fb message! I really want the girls to be the first to meet their sister. Well I hope it works out! Hope youre feeling better from the flu. I have managed to escape it this winter.... and boy its been a long winter! Enjoy nesting and ebaying! What else do you have to get? I always look at ebay but dont really need much! Oh and youre half way there... yay! Whats your edd?
Leigh- hows little Lexie going? And your other girls? I cant belive shes 3 months already! Time flies doesnt it! Thanks for the wishes. Am feeling confident...just waiting for her to pick her birthday! My birthday is on the 20th so hoping shes here by then! Actually by the end of the week would be better!
Ok better go and reply to other threads:)
Take care x o
Wow Mel I can't believe it's almost time to meet your bubby! Must admit to being a tad jealous too lol. Would have another in a heartbeat if I could ;)
Hi everyone :hello: Long time no chat! Can you believe we are heading towards 2nd birthdays :o
Ruby is a bit of a ratbag ATM. She is in a bed now after climbing out of the cot and her favourite trick is drawing on the walls. None of the others really drew on the walls so this is new to me. She's also decided to TT herself and refuses to wear nappies during the day. A bit hit and miss with it so I have to really watch her cos we've had a couple of poos on the floor (at least she pulls her knickers down I guess) but if I can get her there in time she gets it! Not game enough to leave the house yet though lol.
Thanks Sam, sounds like youre doing well. Becca is trying to pull her nappies off but Im so not ready to do it with her yet. When it was warm a few days ago I had her outside nude and just sitting on the potty when she felt like it but she didnt do anything there. She much preferred peeing on the slide or the grass!!! I wouldnt leave the house yet either!!! Its been over a year now since Olivia has been fully tt! Hoping Bec will be just as ...easy!
Any tips on bring on labour.... I have had enough today! Sorry for tmi... my bowels are having a good empty, so hoping I have this baby in the next 24 hours...... ahhhh LOL!
Mel, emptying your bowels like that is a good sign. That happend to me with in 24hrs of going into labour with both Cadence & Lara.
Sam, great to see you in here. That's great Ruby wanting to wear pants instead of a nappy. Lara loves sitting on the potty. She takes her nappy off & sits on it but still hasn't managed to do anything. Lara likes drawing on the floor, I always have to make sure I have scrap paper handy for her to draw on.
yep, lots of bowel movements are a very good sign. I tried the castor oil thing, but wouldn't recommend it, made me have diarrohea (sp?) but bub didn't come for another week. I guess walking if you feel like it. gosh, it is such a funny feeling when you are sooo close isn't it, I remember making sure the washing was up to date and the house was spotless everyday as I was embarassed if I left it in a mess and had to call my neighbour in to look after DD that they would think I was a slob. and I was paranoid about having plenty of food in the house in case I went into hospital. Finn is nowhere near the toilet training stage yet, will maybe try over December / Jan before this bub comes along and see how we go but won't stress if it doesn't happen.
Okay, Mel, thinking of you loads, sending you lots of positive and happy labour vibes. Try and rest as much as you can over the next few days and just enjoy your gorgeous girls.
L xxx
Laurin, although Lara loves the potty I don't reckon she is ready just yet. I won't be surprised if she's not toilet trained in 6mths. I try & get Cadence to sit on the potty to show Lara what to do coz she loves copying her big sister.
Mel.......I'm stalking you!!! Lol
Congratulations Mel :dance::dance::dance: wonderful news!!!
Hi Girls,
Mel, how are you going? How is life as a mum of 3? Hope you're coping alright and that you're not too exhausted. How's the breastfeeding going?
Guess what? It's Lara's birthday tomorrow (26th oct). Can't believe my little girl is almost two already. Poor liitle kid has a bad cold at the moment. Hopefully she's a bit better tomorrow to be able to enjoy her bday. We're not having a party. We had lunch with some family yesterday & we'll just have a small cake at home tomorrow.
Better go & get Cadence ready for school.
Hi to everyone else, hope you're all well xx
hey... just quickly 1 handed. All is ok, busy but o k. Had a meltdown yesterday and just cried all day. feel ok today. amy is beautiful. i am so blessed. when i have a free moment i will type more....
happy birthday for tomorrow Lara x o hope shes better soon
Aww Mel, huge hugs hun. Gosh the first bit is so so hard and overwhelming, your exhausted, your hormones are all over the show, trying to get the hang of breastfeeding and you've got two other little energisers to look after as well. Just be easy on yourself and I remember with Finny, when he had that horrible colic in the evenings, I just used to repeat "it will get better, it will get better". Your doing a fantastic job, today's a new day and the sun is shining.!!
Amazing, Lara is two tomorrow, wow, I was just in Toysrus looking at a trike for Finny. Huge Happy Birthday hugs to Lara!!! Hope the cold improves.
All well here, I have just bought two bassinettes on ebay - long story - didn't mean to - but now have realised that it will be a good thing. Still feeling great so making the most of getting things done and making the most of spending lots of time with my gorgeous little ones before it turns to bedlam.
Gotta go and do chores while Finn is asleep.
xxxx
Mel, I agree with laurin, it's the hormones. You are doing a fab job. It can be very overwhelming in the beginning. I'm now down to 2 - 3 breastfeeds per day with Lexie coz I was just too busy with Cadence and Lara to sit for long periods of time during the day to breastfeed. Hope you're getting plenty of rest & we're here to listen anytime you need!! xxx
Laurin, 2 bassinets will be good. Least you can keep one in bubs room & one in the loungeroom or something. Have you thought of any names for bub?
Lara's bday was good. She was a little bit better yesterday but has been very sooky coz she's sick. We had a quiet day at home playing with her toys & a cake. Lexie had her 4mth needles today. She's a chubber & weighs exactly 7 kg. She did really well with her needles.
Hi to everyone else
thanks girls.... i felt better post meltdown!!!
leigh... do you give formula for other feeds? am expressing all the time and am over being on the couch. amy is crap at sucking and needs ebm top up after each feed. i dont know how long i can do this for. i hope she learns soon otherwise i will have to do formula:( glad to hear lara is better... a bit!
laurin- 2 bassinetts are a great idea... and yes do u have any names yet?
well things are slowly improving. i managed the housework today! i have healed well and bleeding has almost stopped. So now I am back to feeling almost normal and can do so much:)
Ok better go. Rebecca has painted heself with lip gloss.... my dad just informed me she has also painted her other lips with lip gloss too!!!
Mel, I had to top up with ebm after each feed too but found it hard trying to breastfeed, pump & look after 3 kids all at once. I only had a manual pump so after about 3-4wks I topped up with formula. Now Lexie has 2-3 breastfeeds per day & the rest of her feeds are formula. It was too hard for me to breastfeed all the time, especially when it was time to drop off or pick up Cadence from school. I found that once I introduced formula I could relax a bit more & wasn't stressing about feeds.
hey girls thought i would pop in and say hi while i have a spare minute. Things are going along ok, I suppose it gets better with time. I am still trying to bf and am topping up after every feed with ebm. Am going to do this for another month as I hired the hospital pump for another 4 weeks.... gives me a time frame! If Amy still hasnt worked out how to attach by then, then I will pop her on formula full time. I do have hoe though that shes starting to get it albeit slowly.
Rebecca is doing well, I cant believe she will be 2 soon. How time has flown. Her words are fantastic, shes such a character. Shes coping ok with Amy most of the time but does have some moments of jealousy... shes such a mummies girl. Shes beautiful, when she sees me crying she just looks at me and says ' mummy dont sad'. Shes started biting too, not all the time but she was in the bath with Olivia last night and they were so cute kissing each other on the lips and then Becca just bit Livs lip and there was blood! She also kickes a lot... jut trying to assert herslef I think! Her sleep has been a bit all over the place since Amy has been around but hopefully like everything else it will settle.
Well I hope everyone is well. I better go and sort bed time out before Amy wakes for her next feed... this is the longest I have been on line for
Mel, sounds like you are coping well. Lara was a bit jealous when I first had Lexie too but now she's settled right down. She had started biting too but hasn't done it for some time now, hopefully she's forgotten about it coz Cadence was never a biter so I've never had to deal with biting before. Looks like next week will be my last wk of breastfeeding coz DH got a new job at the casino & he starts his training school on the 15th. It goes for 5 wks & runs from 8.30pm-6pm. So that means I will be doing the school run everyday will all the kids in tow. I won't gave time to breastfeed Lexie in the mornings while getting breakfast & everyone dressed & ready & at school by 9am.
Hope everyone else is well & you all have a great weekend!
Hey girls, hope youre all well, its very quiet in here.
Lifes busy but starting to get on track. Amy is devine. She still isnt feeding well but we are making slight progress. I just have to get her tongue to come out a bit and hope she will be better on the boob....i dont like having my nipple chomped at!
Rebecca turned 2 on Wednesday. Shes a beautiful little girl. She doesnt stop talking, shes so cuddly. She also has some fantastic tanties but it s all good.
Olivia is also a beautiful you girl, shes really struggling at the moment not getting the attention she is used to. Especially with Beccas birthday and the fuss about Amy and the amount of time I have been on the couch for. Shes having massive tantrums and huge attitude. I suppose thats all part and parcel hey!
Ok well... just thought I would let you know I am alive!
Mel, you are doing such a great job with your three gorgeous girls!!! It sounds like they are all thriving and I hope it is getting easier and easier for you a little bit at a time. You are doing great with the bf'ing. It is interesting how the siblings react when a new baby comes along isn't it. I am getting nervous about the whole thing from birth to after, but once your in it you just gotta keep going. Happy 2nd Birthday to Rebecca.
Leigh, how are you doing with your DH working long hours?
We are all well here, pregnancy going great, I just sat an exam on Tuesday night as I am studying part-time, so now i feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can start to enjoy life, Christmas and my gorgeous kids. DD and DS are all good, so cute and they play together so well (and fight too!!!).
Okay, better go and get on with the day.
L xxx
Happy Birthday Rebecca for Wednesday!!! Wow Mel, can't believe Amy is 4 wks old already, goes really quickly hey. Lexie will be 5 months on Tuesday, it doesn't feel like 5 mths since I had her. Glad the breastfeeding is going ok. I'm still feeding Lexie 3 feeds per day. Lara has been chucking some massive tantrums lately, think coz I can't give her the one on one attention that she'd like. She gets frustrated if I'm busy with Lexie & she wants something.
Laurin, I bet you're glad your exam is over. Must be hard at times trying to study & look after two little kids. This is the first wk of DH's long shifts. I've been struggling doing the school run a bit, especially this morning coz it was raining. Lara refuses to sit in the pram so I have to hold an umbrella, hold lara's hand & push Lexie in the pram. Then when we go to leave Cadence's classroom Lara chucks a massive tantrum coz she wants to stay at school.....some days I wish I could leave her there lol. I think cadence's teachers feel sorry for me coz they can see I have my hands full. This arv I have to take cadence to swimming lessons & Lara & Lexie have to come with me. I can just see the tantrum Lara will put on once she sees cadence in the pool. Then cadence has a school disco straight after swimming for 2 hrs which I don't know if she will go coz it's a bit much for me to take Lara & Lexie from swimming straight to the disco for two hrs, especially when it's at dinner time, I feel bad making cadence miss out though.
OMG Leigh... you sound so busy. I hope it all goes smoothly for you.
Congrats on finishing your exam Laurin
Time flies when youre having fun:)
rebecca has an obsession with putting her hand down the back of her nappy and says yucky in there. I have tried a few times to get her on the potty but she wont have a bar of it. At least now she tells me when she is doing a poo... she calls it a fart! And she asks me to change her. I have had her crap on the carpet in her room and on the couch.... all when I am feeding Amy... not a great idea to have her nappy off then... oh well!
Mel, Lara is the opposite, won't tell me when she's poo'd but gladly sits on the potty. If I say go sit on your potty she goes & grabs it & takes her nappy off & sits on it. Still hasn't poo'd or pee'd in it yet though. I'm not pushing her though, she'll do it when she's ready. I pushed Cadence too soon & she wasn't ready & then all of a sudden a couple of days before she turned 2 & a half she wanted to go to the toilet herself & was trained in like 3 days. I've had to clean up a few of Laras poos off the carpet lately, they always pick a great time to do it hey. I've enjoyed DH being home this weekend to help out. Not looking forward to another busy wk starting again tomorrow.
Hope everyone has had a great weekend!!
just copied from other babies thread.....
AFM- we are settling in fine! Fine enough for me to start thinking about things....like my visit to the drs on Wednesday and trying to decide about contraception and if I want more kids. I have a feeling that I might...maybe. I think dh might too.... I have to say though that I hate the first 6 weeks of baby, its so hard and emotionally wrecking! Things have turned around now and are looking up. I am still expressing though which I hate with a passion. I took Amy to the osteo for the 2nd time and there has been some improvement in her feeding. She has done 2 feeds this weekend without needing ebm. Shes going through a growth spurt though and is almost constantly feeding at night... anyway I am hoping things will look up in the b/fing saga coz I am going to review it this time next week and make some decisions. I dont think I am ready to give up though.
Olivia is doing well. shes a delight most of the time and loves her sisters. Shes a great help too. She sleeps through most nights and I have recently taken her bed rail off and her connie off too (waterproof top sheet). Although she did wet the bed one night last week...first time in months.
Rebecca is doing well. She talks and talks and talks..... OMG she does not stop. Her language is so good and she has such a wide range of words. We are trying to potty train her but she wees/poos then says she needs to go or she will sit on the potty post wee! Shes been waking up of a night for some reason and cracks the sh*ts. So between everyone waking I dont get a load of sleep.
Hi Girls,
Mel, yay for Amy having two feeds on the weekend without needing ebm. Hopefully you will be able to stop expressing very soon. I was like you in the beginning with Lexie, always expressing too, and I only had a manual pump but now I haven't needed to express for about nearly two months. I'm still breast feeding 3 feeds per day but Lexie will be 6mths on the 23rd and I am thinking I might start to fully wean her then.....not sure though. Do you think you guys will have another bub?
Laurin, how are things going with you? How much longer have you got now?
Where are all the other girls? We haven't seen them in here for ages. Hope everything is ok, I bet they're probably just busy.
Well not much happening here. Tomorrow is Cadence's last day of school & then 6wks holidays. It will be nice not having to do the school run everyday but I usually get Lara & Lexie to sleep at the same time during the day & get a bit of quiet time to myself but with Cadence home that quiet time will go out the window. I still haven't finished my Xmas shopping.
Hey Leigh.... so you stopped expressing at 3 and a half months? I need some hope. Am so over it today. Shes 8 weeks next tuesday and I really need her to do something soon. Am so tired.
Other children...maybe I dont know!!! Looked at getting the Mirena and have a script for it but had a discussion with dh and he is happy to use condoms for the moment!
Better go....
Mel I probably stopped full on expressing around 8 wks I think coz she was happy with breastfeeding & I gave in & gave formula top ups. The only time I would express then was if I actually missed a feed so my milk supply wouldn't dry up, as it dried up completely with cadence at 3 mths. Then when Lexie was around 3 & a half months I started introducing formula feeds & not expressing the feeds that I would do with formula, if that makes sense? And from then I have now cut down to 3 breastfeeds per day & the rest formula. It was just too hard & time consuming expressing & breastfeeding full time. You know what it's like with 3 kids. Maybe if you don't want to stop breastfeeding completely you could do the same as me, pick 3 feeds that you'd like to breastfeed & do the rest formula. My milk supply is still fine for those feeds coz I tend to feed those 3 feeds around the same time each day & my body knows to make milk for those specific feeds.
I would love to pick 3 feeds a day but she wont even have a feed from me.... she has a couple of sucks and thats about it.... thanks for letting me know your situation though. Am trying to decide what to do!h
Breastfeeding can be so hard, some people are lucky that it all just falls into place for them. You need to do what is easiest for you. Maybe if you're sick of expressing then pick 3 feeds that you will express & give the ebm in a bottle & then formula feed the rest of the feeds. As long as your expressing those feeds around the same time each day your body will know to continue making milk. Even if you do one or two ebm feeds a day, that way she's still getting the breast milk but DO NOT feel like a failure if you decide to give up & do full time formula. You're a busy mum doing a wonderful job, Amy won't care if it's breast or formula, as long as she's getting something.
Thanks Leigh. I made the decision last night to just stop and give formula full time. So I have iven her nearly 8 weeks ebm and cant be happier. I only wish I could have been one of those women who just shove them on and off they go. Now for the wonderful weaning process..... Am feeling at peace wih it all though. Just make things easier in a sense and I have done it all before. I just hope shes ok on the formula. I will continue to express off for a few more days until I dont burst!
Melissa congratulations on your breastfeeding journey hun, it ain't easy that is for sure but you did fantastic and your little girl couldn't be luckier. I hope it is upwards and onwards from now. I can only imagine how hard it must have been sitting on the couch with two other little ones running around, I am wondering how it will work out for us, so one step at a time I guess.
We are fine here, just in Christmas shopping/preparation mode but feeling fine, getting a bit tired at times with it all but that is the way it is I guess. Not much else to report, getting into preparation for Finny to move into a new room and big boy bed, I really have to psych myself up that we will have teething problems for a few weeks I guess. Ohh, forgot to say it was Finny's 2nd birthday last Tues, we just had a quiet day but he loved it all.
Okay, sorry this is short, hi to all. xxx
Thanks Laurin, and Happy Birthday to Finn. Rebeccas in the wars atm... she has tonsilitis and gingivitis and has just hurt herself for the 2nd time one the swing!
Happy Birthday to Finn for Tuesday, glad you guys had a nice day. Can't believe our liitle ones are two now. Hope Finn adjusts to his new room & big boy bed really quickly. I was dreading putting Lara in a bed but surprisingly she was really easy.....unlike Cadence, when we first put her in her bed she used to climb out all the time.
Mel, glad you've made a decision about the feeding. You did a wonderful job with the ebm. I'm just trying to hold out til the 23rd which is when Lexie is 6 mths & then I will wean completely I think. I can't believe my baby is almost 6mths already, it's gone soooo quick. She doesn't have any teeth yet but I can start to feel her chomp on my nipple with her gums & it hurts.
Hey girls just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy and safe new year. We are going camping tomorrow for 2 weeks. Will chat to you then, be safe x o
Hi everyone! Hope all is well. Just thought I would pop in and say hi after going away for 2 weeks. We had a great time although it is good to be home. The girls are well. Rebecca is now tt and shes taking herself to the toilet on the odd occassion. Im only doing it half effort coz I am lazy but shes not liking a nappy on and tries to pull it off all the time and nappy changes are becoming a battle. Just really doing it when its a warm day and shes not wearing anything.
Ok the troops are up! Take care....
Hey Mel,
Yay for Bec being toilet trained, I have been really slack with Lara, once Cadence is back at school next week I will have to start training Lara again. How's the rest of your kids going? Lexie will be 7 mths on Sunday, I can't believe how fast the time has gone, wish it would slow down a bit coz she's my last bub.
Gotta go, we're off to the indoor play centre this morning.
Hey Leigh... mmmm toilet training is kind of painful! Rebecca will be fine if shes not wearung anything, as soon as I put undies into the equasion she wets herself. She wont poo on the toilet and requests a nappy for that. I think it may take some time for this to happen. I was sick last week so I had her in nappies all the time. My other girls are fine. Amy is 3 months old already! Olivia will be 4 in April! Cant believe Lexi is 7 months old!
Laurin-hows your pregnancy going?
Ok.....being pushed away!
Mel, I can't believe Amy is 3mths old, the time goes too quick hey. Have you guys decided for sure if you're going to have another bub? I'd love another but with my tubes tied it's not going to happen, plus I couldn't anyway coz of my uterus. I've finished breastfeeding now too. It's so much easier bottle feeding. Lexie is in her walking at the moment, giggling away, love it when she's so happy. Cadence started year one at school today. She loved it.
Leigh...not 100% sure whats happening on the baby front. I think theres a fair chance we might but we are going to have to renovate the house first and see if we can afford the extra repayments first before haviing another one... but i think i would like just one more!
