    Re: Babies born~November 16th-30th 2009 #2

    Hey all hope everyones well

I'm going through a bad patch at the mo just really feeling sad and low, getting really shirty at jose for no reason and having a really short fuse and getting stressed at the slightest lil thing, I feel so horrid like I just want to break down and cry but I can't....I think it's been set off by serenity waking 2 times a night lately and having mally and niesha come in our bed every night lately too....I'm trying so hard bot to tell jose to f off and move out cos I know this is gonna pass but I feel so horrible cos I've been yelling at the kids more and been so wound up.....here's hoping serenity starts sleeping better again soon I think I might let her cry abit cos it's like she only snacks so I'm not sure if she's really hungry when she wakes or not *sigh*

Glad I could get that out, thanx girls ur the only ones I feel like I can share this with xxxx

Hi Mon - , vent away, that's what we're here for. I think we all hid low patches don't we, I'm glad we have each other to talk to as well. Serenity might be going through a growth spurt if she's feeding and waking a little more, Amelia did this last week after doing 10 hour nights but the last 2 she's slept 10 again - not sure which is the norm and which is the spurt though. You could try what I did last night, Amelia woke at 5.00 am and instead of feeding her I picked her up, cuddled her for 5 minutes and put the dummy in her mouth and put her back in her cot (her eyes were closed the whole time so I figured she wasn't really ready to wake yet), she went straight back to sleep until almost 8.00 am so all up she slept 10 hours. Not sure if you could try the same? Is she still on formula? I only get a BF in, in the morning feed now with a bottle, the rest of the day is basically bottles as I express in between time and mix in with the final bottle of formula before bed. I can't survive off just breast milk, I'm lucky to express 50/60 mls in a day and that's on a good one, but I figure some is better than none! Hope you feel better soon mate. xx

AFM - did aqua class today and boy am I sore, worked muscles I forgot I had! Amelia loved the first section of the class in the water and went straight to sleep when I put her in her pram. Glad of that because it allowed me to get stuck into the exercise and concentrate on it. The physio who takes the class told me it could take up to 6 months to get rid of all the fluid retention and get my rings back on, at least I know it's not because I'm fat that I can't get them on ha ha - did start to wonder about that!

Best run, DH is down at our holiday house tonight working again so it's just me and the little munchkin, she's asleep so I'm going to chill out while I can! Have a great Friday night girls.

Hi there everyone.....have been away and quite slack not having posted for a while and I've missed out on heaps it seems!!!

Alison - Aqua classes sound good!!! I used to do deep water running before the kids came along and really enjoyed that...it's hard work! Love the new photos of Amelia in her Superwoman shirt and little Elmo swimmers...v cute!

Heavenly - You'll get through it....it's hard when you feel like that though...being tired is the worst thing and there's nothing you can do about it if the kiddies arent sleeping....I was ready to rip Simon's head off the other week cause I had that much to do, I was tired and Abbey was feeding all the time and he wasnt really helping...JD wouldnt shut up and it was doing my head in....I had to go and hit the bed a few times I was that mad at everything...I think I have rage issues!!!

Madame - What's snapfish? Is it a site where you can order your pics online or something? I need to do something like that as I dont get to the shops too often and especially making JD hang around while I try to organise them is a nightmare...Go Harper!! Hope she keeps it up for you....

Kymmy - How exciting if you are UTD!!! Keep us posted...I was feeling excited when I was reading all your posts that I had missed!!

Natty - Glad you had a great time in Canberra....it's nice seeing old mates isnt it....glad V is being such a good girl for you....

AFM - the children are beckoning....GOD, why cant I get 5 min's to myself to write on this thing without being interuppted....arrrrrrrggggghhhhh....doing my head in!!!! Abbey has been sleeping mostly pretty well except for the last 2 nights getting up at about 3am....I fell asleep on the lounge with her still feeding on me this morning and woke up at 6am with the sorest neck....will have to try and stay awake so I can make it back to bed....

She went 10 days between woopsies the other day...I was starting to get worried so thank god she did it finally....I was on poo patrol constantly waiting for her to do it....

My best friend is having her 30th party next Sat night and I really want a drink but it's not worth giving up BF for just to get tanked for 1 night....what are the rules with BF and having a drink? How long do I have to not feed for? I dont have a pump anymore to express either so I dont want my supply to drop if I dont feed her for 24 hours or something like that....

Talk soon....great to hear that everyone is well.

    Hi Shayna,
Im pretty sure the rules for drinking and BF is 1 drink every hour. There is a thread about it on here somewhere I will try and find it.

Hi Shayna, great to hear from you! I wouldn't worry about the "rage" issues, I think we all have those tucked away and having a baby certainly brings it out on occasion. Better to take it out on the bed than someone's head lol. Thanks for your lovely comments on Amelia's latest pics, I do go a bit crazy with the camera don't I! DH is big on lots of pics as his mum didn't take many when he was little so he has hardly any of him, sad really. The Supergirl t-shirt and Elmo bather were from Target. I actually bought the Elmo bathers before she was even born cause they were so cute - they didn't have boy ones at the time....hmm maybe I knew something after all, although I did think I was having a girl, just had a feeling ha ha. The supergirl t-shirt I found recently, have a look, it's so cute as it has pink sequins on it, I'm hopeless, every time I see something cute I get it. Doing the albums will stop me from going to the shops to buy stuff!!! (DH hopes lol). Snapfish is an online printing site, you can either have them sent to you or arrange to pick them up from KMart - it's cheaper than going to the shop definitely - I didn't do it because I had megs of pics to upload so went in instead. Give it a go though, you just sign up (for free) and away you go, you can create photobooks, cards, all sorts, it's fun. Glad Abbey is doing so well, she's so cute. I'm not much of a drinker so don't know a lot about the drinking/bf'ing debate but a friend of mine who likes her wine said that it's about 1.5/2 hours for every drink, but don't quote me on that.

AFM - had another great night, Amelia was knackered after swimming yesterday so slept most of the arvo so I assumed she'd wake up during the night. She fed at 6.30 pm and then slept through her next feed, I ended up sitting up watching the Olympics and next thing it's 10.30 pm so I hesitantly woke her and fed her - not as much as usual and she went straight back to sleep and slept until 8.00 am! She is taking bigger bottles now (I BF first feed with a formula top up and then the rest of the day is bottles with expressing in between and the last feed I put the expressed milk in the bottle) - this is how it works for me with my crappy milk supply but I'm getting there and persevering! Anyway, she has started feeding every 3.5 to 4 hours now rather than 3 so she some days drops a feed from 6 to 5, anyone else's bubs doing only 5 feeds a day now? I assume it's ok and just go with what she wants really, I try not to wake her anymore for feeds but I had to last night as she slept through so would've only had 4 feeds otherwise.

Gosh I waffled on again.....time for breakfast ha ha.

Hi Girls - I just checked out the ABA website and it says as a general rule it's 2 hours for every standard drink. Have a look Shayna, they have some good info on there including a table that shows weight per drink and how many hours for it to be cleared from your milk supply, it's quite interesting.

Hi everyone - I'm new to this site.
I have a 3month old son Logan and a two and a half year old son Ethan.
I'm having a few dramas with Logan's eating and sleeping at the mo and thought that some of you might be able to give me some advice.
I tried to breastfeed but unfortunately he was so reluxy that he would just bring up everything after a feed and he was hungry again but I had no milk left to give him. He's now on a thickend formular which has helped so much with the reflux but I'm concerned by how much he wants and how often. I try to feed him four hourly during the day but he starts crying for a feed from 3hours. Last night he woke at 4am, had a full 180ml and was still hungry. He then took a further 60ml??? He completely finishes every bottle. I've tried offering cooled boiled water but he's not interested.....
He also suffered from colic and although it seems to have passed he's gotten used to being back patted alot to help comfort him and bring up the wind now he wont even try to self settle
As I also have Ethan I'm a bit reluctant to let Logan really cry at night - I don't think I could handle both of them awake at 4am!!!
Logan is a tummy sleeper - apparently refluxy babies do prefer this as it stops the stomach valve from opening back up but I would love to get him to sleep on his back. I have tried a few times but he will only sleep for about 20-30mins. He fights being swaddled....
Thank you so much for letting me share this with you all - any help would be muchly appreciated.

Hi Chrissie - welcome to our wonderful thread, everyone on here are so great, hope you'll stick around! Congrats on your two little boys, lovely names! My girl Amelia is my first, she's turning 12 weeks on Monday, she too is mostly formula fed due to low milk supply on my behalf from about 4 weeks of age. She was having boob and then 125ml formula top ups but I'm now only giving her a boob feed for the first morning feed but she now takes 150 mls with that, then during the day she has bottle only (I express in between) and she will easily take 160/170 mls, sometimes more! Her last feed of the night she has a mixture of whatever I've managed to express which is never any more than 60 mls if I'm lucky and formula. She has just the last few days gone from 3 hourly feed to 3.5 to 4 hourly but some times it's only 3 still. I'd say and I'm no expert being my first but Logan is probably going through his 12 week growth spurt so is wanting more, I think Amelia is heading in that direction too as this morning she grizzled for more after her first feed of boob and 160mls of formula! Yesterday she had 160mls and then another 60mls so I think we're in the same boat! Sounds very normal to me mate. One of my friends has a girl 3 weeks older than mine and she is drinking 240mls at a sitting so I think every bub has a different appetite! I figure if they over feed they'll just throw it up, Amelia isn't a spewy baby so when she has too much it just comes back out. I'd just give him a little extra and see how he goes, he won't sleep if he's hungry and I've heard you can't overfeed a bub so don't worry you're doing great! How are you finding it with a bub and a 2.5 year old? We're looking at having number 2 close together as I'm 37 this year.

Anyway, hope that has helped at least a little and we see you on here again, everyone is so nice and helpful, a lot of us went through our pregnancies together as well so we're all like good friends even though we haven't met lol. It's just nice to talk to others who understand and you can go away feeling normal again! xx

    Thank you so much Alison

I was so upset on Thursday - I took Logan to the doctors as he's still got blocked tear ducks and I asked the GP about the feeding... He made me feel so bad. He told me that my baby was over weight and that babies do cry for other reasons other than being hungry
I phoned my health nurse when I got home and she told me not to stress - Logan is 6kg now which is exactly on the 50 percentile for a three month old boy and although babies do cry for other reasons if you've eliminated the other reasons and he's still crying he's hungry....

Where about's in Perth are you?

OMG Chrissie overweight at 6kgs are you kidding??!! What kind of doctor is he! Amelia was 5.5 kgs 4 weeks ago so she would have to be around 6kgs now and she doesn't look fat at all!! Just ignore that, it's crap! Have you heard about the baby language and deciphering what the different cries mean? Try this it really works:

    neh - hungry
    ow - tired
    eh - wind
    aire - lower wind
heh - uncomfortable and wants a cuddle

In saying this though it's easier to deciper before they're 12 weeks as they change from then apparently. I think you would know what he's crying for, you are his mum and know best. Ignore that GP, he sounds like a tosser lol.

I'm in Iluka, up Joondalup way, whereabouts are you? I'm on FB if you are and want to look me up, Alison Lewkowski.

Hi Girls and Happy Birthday Kymmy, I'm a bit slow I'm sorry! Hope you had a lovely day!

Hi Chrissie - hope you're feeling better today.

Hi Ubba - go DH, what a sweetie!!!

Hi Mon - how nice is the weather in Perth today!

AFM - had a great night, I went to my sisters house, my 2 nephews who are the same age and go to the same school (my sisters had kids 2 days apart from each other) had their Year 12 ball last night so I went to their houses to see them leave with their dates - gosh I felt old. The girls were all so beautiful with their very expensive gowns on, I remember my high school ball mum made my dress - you can tell these girls come from rich families ha ha. Anyway, they both have different mates at the school so one went with his friends in a stretch hummer with their selection of pop music and the other is big into AC/DC and so him and his mates hired a stretch V8 GT Falcon, you should've seen his face when it rocked up, he just about wet his pants, he's so funny! You couldn't get more different from the two boys if you tried, was hilarious to see. Even funnier was the driver of the V8 was a lady and he stood there talking 351 Cleveland motors for about 15 minutes before they left. Anyway, waiting to hear how the night went, hopefully they had a great time.

Anyway we had a fun night all us girls and the guys chatting and reminiscing about our high school days, didn't get home until 1.00 am - Amelia was asleep after her 10.00 pm feed and can you believe she slept until 9.00 am this morning!!! I ended up waking her up as I thought she should feed, ha ha! Was very glad though because when we got home my dogs had been sooooo naughty! I had to leave them inside because while the neighbours build their wall we only have a temporary fence and it's not the safest for keeping the dogs in, anyway, one of my dogs poo'd in Amelia's room (what a b*tch) and the other one found his shark cartilage arthritis powder (he's nearly 14) and it was all over our leather couches and the loungeroom carpet, he'd tried to eat it so it was mixed in with his saliva and was completely caked on like poo on our carpet, all over our carpet! It was like a scene from a movie honestly! Needless to say they spent the rest of the night outside and we were so angry we didn't even care if they got out lol, which they didn't of course. We were up till 2.00 am cleaning and it's left stains so now we're having to hire a steam cleaner. DH was so angry he very nearly murdered the dogs I swear! Oh well, I told him it's his parents fault for pulling down our fence to build their house cause they are normally outside when we go out! He couldn't really say much to that!

Well, back to cleaning up, do you know I still haven't taken down our Christmas tree yet, woops ha ha!

Alison!! Still havnt taken your chrissy tree down - that is pretty slack lol! Too bad the dogs didnt take it down for you. I would have cracked it big time - hence the reason we dont have pets.

I have been reading a little bit on baby led solids (BLS) has anyone else read up on this or know anything about it. What do you think?

    Hello Y'all!!!!

Thanks for my bday msgs!!!! I had a great day and got very spoilt! I spent most of it building Ikea furniture for DD's room!! It looks REALLY nice now so i (and her!) am really happy i got it done!

Ubba: I just ordered a book online about BLS! I am keen to give it a go.. Can't remember what the book is called but everyone on the BLS forum recommends it...

Mon: Haven't done any more tests but i was thinking that maybe i had some HCG left in my system since i may have had a bit of "leftovers".... (since the bloodclot) What do you think??? Maybe that is why i had a very feint line that didn't darken up after a few days.... That is my new theory... i should become a Doctor... hahahaha!

Chrissie: Hello and welcome to our group!!! I am in Perth Hills past Mundaring. I have a 10yo DD and Archie who is 11 weeks... Planning on more soon too!

Sorry it's a quick one, MIL is coming for a visit very soon (yay! not.. haha! I am so mean!).. I'll be back later on! Love to you all, hope you are having a great weekend! x x

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome
Alison - I told my mum about the doctor and she said the same as you - plus she wanted to go and give him what for!!!
I'm in Seville Grove SOR and I'm on Facebook too - Christine Calladine
I found some useful tings on the net about routines for 3-6mth olds and I've been trying it today... so far so good
DH (Andrew) has been soooo helpful too - I got a lay in this morning until 9:30 then was woken up by Ethan and daddy with a cup of tea and loads of cuddles.
Andrew got up at 7am when Logan woke up and sorted him with bottle, play time and putting him down for his morning nap. I can't believe how much the extra few hours sleep made!!!
Well dinner is boiling over so I had better go and sort it - Thanks again for all the help and warm welcome xxx

    Hi everyone,

Dr Kym- so I have this weired rash.............. haha no not really lol! We did up DD's room over the Christmas hols and it looks awesome, I bet Brits room looks great too! Im going to subscribe to the BLS thread too

Why Oh Why wont Ruby sleep??? My eyes are hanging out of my head I am so fatigued. She had hardly any sleep yesterday maybe 4 hours all up, then woke up every hour last night beween 11pm and 3am until I had enough and bought her in our bed. Then she tossed and kicked and sooked until 4.30am and slept until 8am. She has been really sooky all day and has had a 2 hour sleep this arvo (I have to wake her in a minute to do school pick up).
I was seriously considering a FF top up at night time but will try an EBM feed first.

Hope you are all well xxx
