Alison you should dob her in
Hi girls,
Im still here - Just been so busy with my course and being a mum etc..... I tried posting last night but it didnt work grrrrrr and it was a long one too........
We had a big storm here today, luckily no flooding like some of the state suffered just alot of rain thunder and lightening.
Ruby hasnt been sleeping, ha, whats new? its 10.15pm and she has just woken up, wide eyed and ready to go!! Im going to try her on some formula tonight. Ill let you know how it all goes.
Love to you all xxx
Hey ladies,
just a quickie to tell ya'll that i've been reading the 'no cry sleep solution', and am absolutely LOVING it! Everything she writes is really great! highly recommend it!
For those who can't afford it, or dont have time to read.
The biggest tip i've taken from it so far is not to let theo fall asleep on the boob.
it says when he gets sleepy, and his sucks really reduce, you can tell he's about to drift off - to carefully take the nipple out of his mouth. If he starts to fuss, give it back to him. Then try again when he is sleepy once more. If he fusses - give it back to him. then repeat, repeat, repeat - until he falls asleep without nipple in his mouth.
Because apparently (and it makes sense), when they fall asleep with the nipple, or the bottle in their mouths, when they start to slightly stir during the night, the first thing they look for is the nipple to suck on. and surprise! its gone! haha. So they wake up completely. where as when they fall asleep without the nipple, they stir, but they don't wake. makes sense right?
But anyway, i'm finding the book GREAT! I've started to adopt some of her theories today, will let you know it they start to work. Cause ATM Theo is waking about 4/5 times during the night, its driving me INSANE! (So natty and JDs mum - i know how ya'll feel!)
Ubba good luck with the formula! Hope she drinks it! :p
Shayna  Inlaws.. i hate em too, haha!
natty - cheese with that wine!! bahahaha, you crack me up!
Ali - we dont claim for FTB and just recieve it at the end of the financial year (if we qualified). It scares me the thought of being paid something i'm not entitled to, and then going to jail or something scary! haha! But last year we ended up getting $1600 bucks with our tax return!! hell yea! :)
xx
Ok so the formula didnt work - she didnt want it! Thats ok though, I sort've hoped she didnt like it so I breastfed her to sleep - why didnt I read your post first Telly????
I sort've do a 'no cry' way of parenting, when she stirs and starts to cry we get to her strait away so she doesnt get too upset. My mum has been staying with me while DH and DS have gone camping, and she keeps having digs at me for not letting her cry long. I mentioned at one stage (in a sleep deprived hissy fit) that I am going to book into sleep school. Now all I hear from Mum is "the sooner you get into sleep school the better, they will get her into a routine and teach you to let her cry before you go into her" I said I dont want to do controlled crying and explained my reasons and showed her that article I linked the other week, she just doesnt get that I am parenting differently than she did. Sometimes makes me wonder if maybe the way she parented when I was a young kid is why I cant handle alot of her now?? We often have heated arguments over parenting.
Last night Ruby was sitting on my lap while I was eating dinner and she was opening her mouth. Mum suggested that I give her rice cereal! I said no way, wont be until 4 months at least and the recommended age is 6 months. She said "pffftt, you kids all got rice cereal when you were 3 months, she'll be fine".
Wow, wasnt expecting to vent - I do feel a bit better now! Well it's almost midnight so I better go to bed. Nighty night sleep tight xxx
Vent away, sorry guys reading but CBF posting ATM
Hey ladies..
Ubba:  We do the same with Archie, the minute he starts stirring we know what he wants so we just give it to him, happy baby = happy mummy! You are doing the right thing. And re solids, i am reading a book called "Baby-Led Weaning" by Gill Rapley and Tracey Murkett. I highly recommend it. It says NEVER to give a baby solids under six months as thier digestive systems are really too immature and it can create allergies to food. Breastmilk is WAAAAYYYYY more nutritious and filling than any rice cereal or half a carrot or pumpkin will ever be.. so stick to your guns!! Archie is also going through a bit of a change with sleeping.. he is sleeping less and is not as happy to just lay around on his play mat or in the pram.. he likes to be up looking around, checking things out. I took him up to the horses with me yesterday and he loved them! It was so cute.. he was kicking his legs and cooing and getting all excited!
I hope Ruby snaps back into some kind of sleeping routine... We have never had a routine! At all! Whatsoever! We just go with the flow and things are different everyday!

Telly: I might just order myself that book! Like i said above, that BLW book is great too!! Archie sounds the same with his sleeping as Theo. But as we mostly co-sleep i don't really mind.. but one of these days that is going to have to stop!
Alison:   You are a beautiful girl.. That is my theory too... bad things come in threes so i should be off the hook now...?... haha.. except i've just been sick for the last two days! AAAARRRRGGGHHHHHH! When will it end!? Do you know which antibiotics worked for you? My dad is on his fourth different lot!!!
Mon: I'm the same with DTD.. Can't get enough! Hope things are getting better with Jose and Serenity's sleeping xx
Natty:  MMmmmmmmMMmm Cheese, MMmmmMMMMmmmmm Wine..... hahahahha! Hope you 'slapped him upside the head' (spoken in a black american accent, for effect..haha) Hope V is sleeping a bit better too xxx
Shayna: haha!I hate having to wear a bra too! You crack me up! Hope Abbey is sleeping better and JD isn't trashing things too often!
Hello everyone else!
AFM: What a sh*t week!!!! I have been as sick as a dog..it started with me not being able to breathe properly (anxiety i think) then I started throwing up on Friday and still feel pretty crappy today. Got DH to get me a second lot of antibiotics (after D&C) just in case i had an infection. I think i may have some sort of urinary tract infection as my kidneys are aching and my pee is really dark... My boobies feel quite empty too so i am trying real hard to drink heaps of water. I have lost about 4kgs this week, forget weight watchers ladies... just fast for a d&c for 24hrs then get sick and throw up for another 24hrs and bob's your uncle!!! Am about 51kg now. Don't feel good about it though, was hoping to stay at about 55kg as i feel scrawny!
My dad has had his second op. The Dr is really happy with how his foot is looking and they think he will get to keep it. That is great news but i am still so scared for him. He is seriously OVER being in hospital and now they've moved him further away from home too which sucks. Anyway, it is all going to get better from here... can't get much bloody worse can it!!!!?????
Well i better go and have a shower and go pick Brit up from mums, she had a sleepover last night. Hope you have a great Sunday
xxxx
Hahaha thats a whole lotta
Here is one more for good luck
x
:hello:  to all
Got a velcro baby here. Typing standing up while bouncing - does that count as exercise? 'cause thats about all I get apart from pushing a pram or trolley at the shops. I did brave taking both boys to the supermarket on my own for the first time on Friday so there was an extra 14kg weight of DS1 this time.
Mr I was a bit hot yesterday, but seems normal temp now, but doesn't want to be put down. Been that way on & off for the last 3 days.
Kym - I was thinking of getting that BLW book if you think its good I'll order it. I work on the go with the flow theory too
Ubba - maybe you need to say to your Mum that how you parent isn't a judgement on how she parented :dunno:
My back is killing so I'll go. Hi to everyone.
I never had a routine with my other two kids, Ruby is just so different I feel like it is my first time parenting. Im thinking I will try to get her into some sort of routine - as much as I can without her crying hysterically.... ahhh its a tough one ;)
Snowy- Ive braved the shops only twice with Luke and Ruby, and Im not looking forward to it again. I word Luke up before we go into the shops but hey, he's 4 and he forgets lol. I dont mind taking Ash too cause she is a really good help, sounds funny, I would rather take the 3 kids than just the 2 :o
I hope your little man is feeling better, may have been one of those 24 hr bugs or something?
Kym- I really hope your dad is ok. It must be so worrying for you, I wonder if your sickness is because of the stress you have been through the last few weeks? Take care of yourself and keep an eye on your weight xxx Hows that spunk of a little boy going?
Telly- Whos the author of the no cry sleep solutions? I would like to read it.
Hi everyone else!!
No Cry Sleep Solution is by Elizabeth Pantley. I read the toddler & pre-schooler one & it was really good, but I need to get DH to put the plan into action & he keeps falling asleep when putting DS to bed.
Ewww - I just noticed mould on the side of the G key - its been raining here for a few weeks. Off to get the tea tree spray & hope that works....
Hi Girls - I haven't been getting notifications again so now I'm so behind! Grr
Hi Kymmy - I'm sorry you've been so sick, gosh how horrible for you! 51kgs OMG! How tall are you? 55 kgs is still tiny, gosh when you're not sick I'm 10 kgs heavier than you. Depressing. Hope you feel better soon lovely. Glad to hear your dad is on the mend though. Not sure what antibiotics they had me on as they were intravenous. I did come home with a myriad of tablets though so will check those later and let you know if there's anything in there. Hope he's out of hossy soon, which one is he in anyway?
I can't remember what everyone has posted over the weekend and I'm ready for bed so apologise for no persies. If anyone is trying to get bubs into a routine I highly recommend "Babywise" - it's about parent led feeding etc., it's best done from the start but it's never too late to introduce it. It's not for everyone and it's the opposite to demand feeding but I honestly can thank it for Amelia being in such a routine, she's sleeping 8-10 hours a night, mostly without waking, she only wakes occasionally and it's never for a feed anymore, sometimes she just needs to be moved in her cot as she moves around and gets stuck up against the sides (lol). Also, aside from the odd growth spurt day/week where things go awry (sp?) she is so predictable with her feed/play/sleep routine. It really makes life a lot easier I can tell you. Anyone who says you can't get your baby into a routine hasn't tried this, but again, even if you try it it may not work, I put in the hard yards at the start with waking every 3 hours for feeds etc but it's really paid off. Our sleep is so important and so is theirs. Anyway, that's my two bob on that one lol. My friend is demand feeding her 5.5 month old and he's still waking 3/4 times a night, I personally couldn't function like that but I know it's just the way it is for some. I think it's important to do what fits in with your family and as long as the bubby is healthy that's the main thing. Hope I made sense there, not trying to offend anyone demand feeding as I I'm not against it and I know it works for some, I just like to be organised and have some structure so thought I'd give this a go. I was a bit sceptical at first but it seems to have worked so far. Who knows what could happen though, no baby is perfect and teething could blow it all out the window! lol.....oh and don't forget I'm mostly formula feeding so is a little different again. I envy those with abundant milk I really do - expressed 20 mls today, woop the chook! Got lectured by the nurse at the chemist when I was asking about the child health nurse, suppose I'll cop the same from her when I take Amelia in for a weigh in. I'm sick of being made to feel guilty, I'm doing the best I can with what I have - there's far too much negative crap out there about formula and I'm sick of it, some of us just can't produce the milk so why should we be made to feel like we're malnourishing our children!!! Oh and I weighed Amelia on the Wii Fit Plus (which I just bought yesterday) and she's 6.2kgs hee hee.
Anyway, gotta go, mega tired. Speak tomoz peeps!
Alison: Good on you honey! You should be proud of yourself for doing your best re: BFing. Alot of women would've given up, but you haven't.. and i think it is great that you have Amelia in such a good routine... i am just waayyy to disorganised to even have myself in a routine let alone Archie! haha! My dad is at Sir Charles Gardiner. Miles away! I am 161cms tall.. don't know what that is in feet! I was 50kg before being PG but that was a little underweight for my height which is why i wanted to stay a bit bigger.
Ubba: I think it has alot to do with stress actually. Times like this call for valium... hehe.. just kidding.. but i have been using rescue remedy which seems to help. Archie is doing great.. i was a bit worried that he might be getting sick cos he kept doing the SMELLIEST farts!!! He only poops every two days now... is that normal?
Snowy: How are you and your boys going? x
Goodnight all, need all the rest i can get me thinks...
xxx
Ali- Thanks for that, I will borrow babywise from the library and see what I think. I too think there are too many bad vibes on formula feeding. I was talking to my nan the other day nd found out that she had TB when she was a kid so was unable to breastfeed because of it so had to FF her 3 babies. Im sure the formula back then was no where near what it is today and my dads still kickin'.
Snowy- Thanks, I will check out that book too!
Kymmy- O.M.G dont even talk to me about smelly farts, sometimes I think Ruby smells worse than DH :o I wouldnt be worried about Archie pooing every 2 days, as he is getting older his digestive tract is more developed and you only have to be grossed out every 2 days! BONUS
Natty- how is V going, wonder why her 'routine' has changed. She was going really well - maybe she just wants Mummy cuddles ?? Who knows..........
Had another really unsettled night with Ruby, she just wont sleep... Her day sleeps are about 40mins-1hr and she wakes 2-3 hrly over night. I am so sleep deprived its doing my head in. DH and DS come home today from camping, I cant wait cause I really miss them awwwww.
I might try and have a snooze on the couch while Ruby is fixed on the TV
Hope you are all well. xxx
Hi Ubbs - definitely have a read, might not be for you but you might find it really good too. They have a series of books leading right up to toddler age etc. I'm ready for the next one, they talk about introducing solids. Babywise is basically all about in their words "giving your child the gift of sleep". Good luck matey!
Hi Kymmy - I'm 160 cms hee hee - that's 5'3". 50kgs is definitely on the lower end of the scale for that height but everyone has different bone structure as well. When I did Weight Watchers my ideal weight for my height was between 52kg and 64kgs - 64 kgs being the top end, 52kg the lower end - I ended up 56kgs but found that hard to maintain so was generally comfortable around 57/58 kgs. Hence why I feel and look so huge now at 66 kgs! :o You must just be blessed with a naturally small frame, lucky you! My sister dug out pics of her son when he was born as he turned 20 last week - I was 16 when he was born and I was so thin, probably too thin - apparently everyone else thought so but I don't remember feeling thin - I was 48 kgs back then and stayed that way until I was about 21 I think. The weight crept on as I got older ha ha. I had tiny little arms and now I have big tuckshop lady arms - go figure!
Well, I'm off to see my 91 year old grandma in her aged care home today, I haven't seen her for 12 months and I'm really nervous. Mum's up and my sisters are also coming but while I want to see her I'm kind of dreading it. I struggle with the fact that she might not know who we are but like everyone has said, old people love babies so it doesn't matter. Will be weird but I'm glad I'm going, Amelia will at least have met her and vice versa. I'm taking a little frame with Amelia's pic in it for her, she'll probably wake up everyday and wonder who the hell she is but I thought it was nice anyway, it was her birthday on Saturday. Mum said when she called her to tell her she was coming to visit she thinks she knew who she was so hopefully she's having a good week and not a bad one. Will let you know how it goes!
Have a great day everyone. xx
I'm 166-167cm and 78 kg :O I was 72 after serenity was born I feelvery fat *cry* I would love to be 68kg as my regular, I must admit I've been very lazy and not going to the gym so I'm gonna try make it this week, jose has next week off cos his bosses are going to steep no idea where it is but I figure I will try get back in there then
Have fun visiting ur ur grandma Alison
Hi Mon - sounds like you and I are feeling the same!!! You want to be my weight and I want to be closer to Kymmy's lol! You're so tall Mon, I'm such a shortie - at least when you're taller the weight doesn't look so obvious, it really shows on me. I think you look great in your pics, I can't see 10 kgs like you say you want to lose!!!!!! I bought the Wii Fit Plus on Saturday with the intention of starting today - I want to do the workout while Amelia has her morning nap as it's the only sure one she has for at least an hour, anyway, I realised when I got home that I didn't need to buy the whole pack as the board is the same as the one I have, derrrrrr! No wonder it was so expensive, I thought it was a different board to the other Wii Fit that I already have. So, I have to take it back and I won't have time today so there goes another day, grrrr.
Hi all,
Sorry Alison it might be none of my biz but please read this if you are planning on using babywise:

Hi all!!!
Well so much is going on in here while I have been away lol...where to start!?
Telly, Im onto it I will definately do that with V and I have been since I read that last night. My biggest fear is V getting addicted to the nipple lol and even more scarey she wont take a dummy so she loves the booby even more...
Ubba Im hoping that our next one is one of those "easy" babies we hear so much about.. I hope Ruby can start getting through the night easier.. It does make you want to go to sleep school sometimes eh? I have had the same thoughts at my worst times then dh says something about cc and I freak out lol..
Kymmy Gosh you have had it rough lately  right back at you for a hug mate.. I hope your Dads foot heals, what a prospect at losing it! Thats bad stuff, do you know how he got the infection in thefirst place? I wish I was skinny due to anything lol, I cant seem to shift any weight atm and am starting to get depressed about it...sniff..I could lay off the easy food and not eat icecream with dh lol...
Hi everyone else! Better go do some actual work on my "babybreak" lol
Ps got my eyebrows waxed and eyelashes tinted so I feel a lil bit prettier now I have nice eyes again, they were so overgrown Im surprised I could still see....
