okies
evening ladies,
i know ive been quite quiet.. ive been jumping on every now and then.. lately ive been finding it hard to find time to scratch myself LOL. Its really not that bad im just so unorganised and my life is so all over the place atm im finding it hard to get everything done. i think less computer and bumming around might help alot tho, so ive made a deal with myself that i will not even turn the computer on until i have done what needs to be done first. hence why i am here now :) actually i lie.. theres clothes to fold but im waiting on the rest of them in the dryer.. no point in starting yet then hey
oh my, so much has gone on since i last posted LOL i wont get through all the personals im so sorry
LJ: please dont worry about Williams not doing things yet.. ALL babies are different and really what does a couple of weeks make? iykwim?
Rach75: Luke is so cute in those pics.. Alissa has started pulling herself up on things, i let her go (and obviously im RIGHT there) but i just want her to be able to explore without me saying "no, no, no" im sure there will be plenty of "No"s in the future LOL. They are just getting to be such amazing little being aren they? she totally spins me out almost everyday, like when i talk to her, she looks right into my eyes, my heart always swells up when she does that.. im such a softy LOL
Fi:   i know exactly how you feel. You feel so torn.. but theres nothing you can do. All we can do is grin and bear it. Sometimes work really sucks.. and its not the workign part.. its the being away from her part. When i left her at the ILs last weekend, i think when i came home she had developed a bit of seperation anxiety, she now crys when i get up and start to walk away from her, and she has to be where ever i am. This has ment cooking tea while holding her, sitting her on the floor in the bathroom while i shower .. It gets to me and then i think "she's a baby.. she loves her mummy.." and then i feel bad for getting frustrated, but only coz i was so spoilt before with a baby that was so easy going, and she still is, and i can leave her with other poeple still and she's fine but if its just me and her then she's attached to me, i KNOW i should be enjoying it, and i am.. just soemtimes ya know, it gets a bit much when its just me and her.
Tam and Amber: howd your catch up go? I so cant wait to meet some of you (id lLOVE to meet ALL of you)
Kass: :comfort:  i am so sorry to hear about you having shingles :( that really sucks. Lucky you have such a good man to look after you tho :) is it contagious or anything? im sure your girls are being well behaved as usual xx
welll i pretty much did a 'AFM' just working and tryong to be a good mum and wife LOL. Ive noticed im starting to become a little picky.. you could almost go as far as to say 'anal' about somethings, im even getting on my nervesLOL
Im going to the markets tomorrow with one of the mums form my MG who has fast become one of my good/best friends i dont have many friends so its really nice to have her :) havent been to the markets with Bub yet, shall see how i go, im not taking a pram just the baba sling, the pram will just be too full on i think lol.
anyway everyone, have a good one
love love
xx
BBL to do personals
Just popped in to say, look how quick these 7 months have gone??!!!! Only a short 4 till our babies are 1 yr olds!!!!!
ps, I feel like death warmed up:/
Where is everyone?? :p
Kass hope you are feeling better
Not much going on here. Leila has finally cut another tooth but there are about another 5 all trying to come through at once - no wonder the poor little thing is having such a rough time  we also have another cold and I'm starting to think this is going to be a permanent thing for the next year or so while we get exposed to all the new bugs going around at the child care centre!
Hugs to everyone, hope you are all well.
Fi x
Rach-That boy is sooooooooo beautiful!!!! Lucy isn't doing any of that!
Fi- Lucy's tooth went back down and hasn't come back yet, no teeth!
Im getting better ladies, much better. Have been pumping a HEAP of vits into myself to build my immunity and its working!
well those on FB know Luke is sleeping like a terror *yawn* I want my sleeping baby back
he is definatly teething his gums yesterday :omg: no wonder he was crying, they made me want to cry to look at them, poor bubba
well we are off to get 6mth needles today dr cancelled last week as luke wasn't well, hoping we get all clear today will be back later with stats on my porker
well we had needles my brave boy didn't cry one tiny whimper the all smiles  but he has lost 300grms in a month :( so we are off for reweigh on monday if he has gained some then all good if not we will talk about it more she said...but he is now 72.5cm :) and 8770grms, so still good size but a 300grm loss is not great at this age even with the increase in crawling and stuff so fingers crossed its a fluke or both their machines suck  yep we weighed him on 2 different scales
Hi ladies and bubbies!
It has been a few weeks since i have been on here... just being crazy busy lately!
I need to skip personals atm cos don't have much time but just wanted to let you all know that Eli and I made it through his 6 mth needles a couple of weeks ago and he now measures at approx 74cm (i say approx cause he wouldn't stop squirming while they tried to measure) and weighs 8.9kg. He also got his first tooth on Wednesday (his bottom left) although i suspect another is not too far off as he still seems to be in pain and the tooth next to it is very white too.
On the teething note.... i bought him an amber necklace (which has definitely helped with the drooling but i can't measure his paiun so not sure about anything else) which he wears all the time now but i have also been dosing him with Hylands, Brauer, Panadol and Nurofen (or he screams like someone is murdering him).... he has been having the P and N 3 times a day each (at least 2 hrs between the piggybacking) and this is the 3rd day..... is this ok?
I don't really like dosing him with P and N but it is the only thing that seems to be helping him sleep atm.... he even wakes up between 12-1 each night screaming because his 7pm dose has worn off.....
I feel so terrible for him.
I'll be back later but am off to visit some friends for a birthday lunch today.
Rach - hope all is ok with your little one and that he has gained some weight. Let us know how he is going.
Tammie - I recently got Leila an amber necklace too which is fantastic!! I have found that it has greatly reduced the amount of P & N I have had to give Leila. In fact, it is only very occassionally that I give her anything now. Personally, I would try not to give them to him all the time but I totally understand how hard it is and how much pain they can be in. Leila has been terrible and also screaming like she is being murdered, it is the most unbearable sound, just heartbreaking and there's nothing you can do. Have you tried bonjela? Leila doesn't seem to like me rubbing it on her gums but gooes crazy for it when I put it on a dummy - which is strange as she's never liked a dummy until now! It is such a hard time  for you and Eli. You can only do what you think is best. I really hope things improve for you as we have had such a bad time too so I know exactly how it is - Leila was waking up sometimes 6 times a night screaming hysterically.
Where's everyone else?!! Hope you are all well.
AFM we now have 4 teeth! Another 2 well on their way though so I'm hoping they come through soon.
I'm not sure if this is good or not but Leila is pulling herself up on furniture and learning to walk along it. I just got off the phone to the child care centre to see how she was going today and they said she was having a good day and that she was almost walking :o Of course they can't believe it as she is not quite 7 months old yet. So.... on the one hand I'm super proud on the other hand I'm wondering if I should try and discourage her? I have heard some people say that it's not good for babies to start walking too early. Does anyone know anything about this?
Must get back to work!
Fi
We're here, just not much - For the first time ever, DS is sick. and I'm so proud that I've prevented him from being sick for so long :)
Went to the dr to see if there was anything else besides Panadol and his lungs, chest, ears and throat are all clear so it's just the matter of dosing him heaps with Panadol.
No other teeth here, no crawling yet, no pulling up onto furniture (which is honestly bumming me out). I'm honestly exhausted, but as everyone says - it's worth it in the end
Tam: if i were in your shoes id be giving him panadol too.. i dont know about N but ive never used it before, im sure it camt be too bad for him. Its soo hard when they are in so much pain :( Alissa has 6 teeth, with no sign of anymore for the moment which s fantastic LOL. when she grins she has a mouth full of teeth.. no one can believe it that she has 6 at 7 months (well they're 7 and a half now :) )
Fi:  leila :) with pulling herself up on furntiure, Alissa is doing the same thing, probably about a week and a half ago she started doing it ALOT (like eerytime she's on the floor she'll crawl to the nearest thing and stand up LOL) I wouldnt discourage her, i know that babies are ment to get 'x' amount of crawling done, but they still crawl even after they learn to walk so i wouldnt worry. i dont think it Will be long til Alissa will be walking, im so excited. everyone says she'll be into everything.. meh.. she already is LOL.
LJ:  William is doing wonderfully, you watch he'll do it all at the same time. He is seriously one of the handomest little men i know :)
AFM: not alot here, i did a self requested ban just to keep me off the computer for awhile, didnt really work LOL. Alissa is doing wonderfully, the only thiung thats a little worrying i guess is she's pooing like 3 times a day sometimes more?? wth.. its rediculous, i feed her 3 times a day, with 3-4 bottles plus snacks (biccies and bits of fruit) im surprised she's not a lil fatty LOL.
works work. same as usual LOL. Ive decided i know what i want to do, i want to do child care and some day (maybe) become a primary school teacher. ive looked at tafe courses and stuff but jon rekons we dont have the money right now so im going to have to wait til teh start of next year :(
anyway im knackered, i rpomise ill pop in more often xx
LJ Well done on keeping your little man healthy for so long! It's so hard when they get sick, I hope William gets better soon. Try not to feel bummed out about William not crawling yet I think the vast majority of babies don't quite crawl at this age. He is absolutely adorable and as you say it's totally worth it in the end - hard as it is at times.
Stevie Leila poos about 3 times a day too! She used to only poo once a day, sometimes twice but now it's usually about 3 times sometimes 4!! It's all normal so don't stress. That's awesome that you've figured out what you want to do and great that you are looking to start with child care then maybe move into primary teaching, a very good transition. Sucks that you dont have the money yet but stay focused and make it a priority for you and Jon for next year - make sure it's something that you both work towards and put it in your budget (doesn't need to be a formal budget just you know in your heads that you need money for it). It's really important that you focus on you and your professional development. Investing your time and money into it now will have huge rewards in the future.
Leila had a big fall and bumped her head yesterday it was so awful. She insists on pulling herself up on everything but of course sometimes she loses her balance and topples over. Mostly her falls are sort of in slow motion and she gets a fright but thats about it. Last night she fell backwards really quickly and seemed to bang her head very hard. She landed on a nice thick rug but there was still an awful bang. I was so upset and worried about her and I felt like such a terrible mum for not catching her. Even though she seems fine and is behaving as normal I'm still worried about her! Do we every stop worrying?? I know there will be plenty more falls, bumps, cuts maybe even broken bones to come but it's just so hard to see them hurt themselves - I don't think I'm ready for it!
Hi to everyone else
Fi
oh fi, big  to Leila for her fall. i know how you feel. The other night i was cooking tea and bathing Alissa (i was still in my work uniform at 6pm .. i finished at 2) id just been so busy trying to do everything. I used to dress Alissa in her cot coz it was still set on the highest setting so it wasnt hard to lean over and dress her, id been nagging at jon all week to drop the cot down coz she keeps standing up and im terrified she would fall out. This night i put her nappy on so she wouldnt wee everywhere and left her there for a second whil ei raced up the other end of the house to check tea wasn burning or anything. In that small space of time Alissa had climbed up and stood up and fallen over and wedged her head in the corner of the bed :( i just heard this massive bang and bolted down there, jon was already there with a screaming Alissa and he just looed and me and said "WHY would you leave her there?" i trid to expalin and he just said "youve been at me all week to drop it coz its so dangerous but you leave her there while she's wide awake" i just started crying and telling him not to give her to me coz im a terrible parent and how could i be so careless, coz i was so soo upset Alissa was just looking at me crying, not from the fall but coz i was crying and yelling at him to not give her to me. i still get upset when i think of that night :( i seriously felt like the biggest failure :( :(
My girlfriend and i joke about the worrying for our babies, (hers is 4 days older that Alissa) it never ends, this is it. we will worry like this for ever LOL. But its ok, coz its all worth it :)
Alissa is crying so i must go, but have a good weekend everyone xx
Oh Stevie don't be so hard on yourself! you are not a failure, you're a wonderful mum! No matter what you do babies will always find a way to hurt themselves so please don't blame yourself. I would also like to point out that maybe your DH could of either checked that dinner wasn't burning or dressed Alissa for you!! Maybe he could think about things a little bit himself and realise that you can't do everything yourself! Sorry if that sounds mean just if it was me I would be cranky with DH for not helping.
Tooth number 5 is coming through for us :o I knew there were lots trying to come through all at once - that's 3 within 2 weeks!
We had a bad night last night (teething) but in the end it turned out wonderful as when Leila wouldn't settle at 5am I just took her into bed with me and we both layed down and I fed her then we went to sleep until about 9am!! We both stirred a couple of times and just looked at each other and smiled then went back to sleep - it was the most wonderful experience! I have never had her in bed with me before so this was our first sleep together and it was so very special :D
I had to take Leila to the physio today as one of her feet is a bit funny and just kind of flops out to the side but apparently it's all ok, they aren't worried and think it will just fix itself in time which is a relief.
Hope you are all ok - it's very quiet in here!!
Fi x
fi- Bumps and bruzes will show up out of no where sometimes:( Its all part of learning I guess! Cant believe how many teeth Leila has!!! We still haven't got one! LOVE cuddles to sleep:) We have to do it every night, usually with BOTH my girls haha How will we concieve #3 lol!
Stevie- Jon, shut up! Drop the cot;) Dont stress hun. Sucks hey. Annabelle feel out at 9-10 months and to this day says "I feel from the cot and hurt my head" bahahahaha I felt like crap when it happened but it just made me even more aware;) A good mum worries about her kids no matter how old they are;)
Liz- How is William now?
Tammie, Rach, Amber, Rach, hellooooooo! Hope I haven't missed anyone
Well all is well here. No teeth, no crawling but moving sooooooooo much around the floor:) My girls are amazing! I love them so much........would love them even MORE if they slept lol
Solids all good and every day she grows more beautiful haha she does look like me more and more lol
May I say I love having you ladies here, even if the thread isn't running hot, I know you're here:)
Kass, still coughs (and DH thinks that he's going to choke on his own vomit and phlem) and sneezes lots, but seems like he's much much better lately. I've had it since Saturday and I'm already on the home straight whereas DH had it for at least a week before getting better :p
Kass - I can't belive how many teeth Leila has either, the 6th one is coming through now. I can't believe I am still breastfeeding!! Your girls are amazing, they are just adorable! I've loved looking at all the pictures on FB.
LJ glad your little man is getting better.
Tammie - how is Eli going? Leila has been a bit of a terror the past few days with teeth 5&6 coming through so she's had a few does of panadol & neurofen, sometimes its the only thing that works. Hope things are getting better for you.
Stevie :hello:
Hi to everyone else. I want to join Kass in saying that I love having you all here, you are all so amazing and have helped me through some pretty tough times! :grouphug:
We have a word!!! Dada! Leila has been saying it all day, it's so cute! Of course it would be even cuter if it was muma ;)
Having a bad day though... I'm finding everything a bit hard at the moment and starting to get a bit resentful towards DH  I'm still breast feeding, working 3 days a week (sometimes a little from home as well) in a fairly demanding job. My days off seem to revolve arround running errands, cleaning, cooking Leila's food (I tend to cook in bulk & freeze), having appointments etc I just feel like I have to do a 24/7 job (being a mother) and a part time job in the paid workforce and everything revolves around Leila. For me, she always comes first. I don't have breakfast or even a cup of tea until she has been fed and changed and she is content to play on her own (which she isn't always!). Before I think about doing anything for myself I think about her - what does she need, is she happy, does she have enough food, do I need to wash her clothes & nappies, what is she interested in today etc. At work I have to make time to express twice a day, I call day care to make sure she is ok, I hurry through everything so I don't have to stay back late as I just want to get home to her. DH on the otherhand.... well he can't function in the morning until he has had coffee and he likes real coffee so it takes a while to make using our espresso machine. He thinks this is fine and normal that his needs come first - he doesn't even think about Leila and what she might need. He works in a fairly cruisy government job without having to worry about expressing or making sure Leila is ok at day care. If he feels like going out, he goes out without giving it a second thought. If he's tired he goes to bed, he doesn't think that a lot of preparation goes into getting Leila's things ready for day care. He doesn't think that maybe we are running low on her food and he should make something for her - he thinks her food just magically appears in little containers in the fridge & freezer! He does interact well with Leila now but he really only has the fun times, when she's difficult he has no idea what to do and thinks that its my job to figure it out and look after her. Basically he just goes about his daily business as usual and has some 'play time' with Leila each day. Sorry for the rant!! I'm probably being irrantional. He is a good hubby and a good dad, I just hate that I have to be responsible for so much. Sometimes I am tempted to wean Leila and just put her on the bottle so that I don't have to be the one on call 24/7. I know this probably wouldn't help and it's probably crazy of me to think like that. I adore Leila. She is everything to me, I just get frustrated that I can't ever take a day off, a night off etc. Even if I do I still have to express so what's the point? I may as well be there to feed her
Aw hun these feelings/concerns are SOOOOOOO normal;) My best advice is really quite simple. DH isn't going to just do things, its not in their nature. Plus a lot of it for them is they think we do it 'right' or 'perfect' so they just leave it up to us. It's natural for us mothers to make sure all is right with bubs before thinking of ourselves. DONT change this as its all part of being a mother;)
I honstly think just get him to do things eg: "I have washing to do, you Leila for a walk" or "Im taking Leila for a walk, do those dishes for me while Im gone. Thanks"
Dont ask just suggest firmly;)
At 1st it may daunting for him but the more often you do it the more he will realise its normal;)
I doubt it'll come naturally for him but it doesn't take much just to 'suggest firmly' ;)
As for the work pat, Im not sure. If you think you'll be ok without it, try sahm? Thats what I do!
forgot to come back and update luke had gained back the weight within 3 days and i am sure he is heavier again
we got 2 teeth a day apart 2 weeks ago :) crawling pulling to standing sigh  growing way way to quick......oh and solids going ok 1-2 solid meals a day a 4 bottles, sleep sucks big time ....... waking every night :(
Thanks Kass, just having a bad day!
Time for a new chat thread :)
