Amy - Sorry to hear Bethany lost some weight, I was going to leave V on the formula and her pead told me to as well, when I told him I wasnt going to take her off the forumla just yet. Then I had the Dietician appt for V and she told me to start giving her the cows milk with pediasure added to it, for the extra protien as well as the vitamins that the formula gives. So instead of having the formula mixed with water, or the pediasure mixed with water as the container says to do, they wanted me to use the cows milk instead of the water for her. I am hoping it makes a difference, and so far it doesnt seem to have affected her bowl movements either, which is great. V is the same with being spoon fed, she doesnt want it. She wants to feed herself with everything, but also likes the idea of playing her food. Squishing it in her hands and watching it. lol. She is really fussy. Which drives me insane too. Lets just say I know how you feel. hugs
Ava - She has anywhere upto 5 bottles, but they are only around the 150mls, she wont drink more than that. Funny you mention it about the change to cows milk as I was thinking the same with V, when I first started her on it, as it stuffed her sleep routine up a little, yet a few days later she seemed heaps better. So I think it had something to do with the milk change. She isnt on the sippy cup yet with her milk, she still hasnt got the hang of it yet properly, so I am hesitant on giving her milk from it just yet, dont want her to waste anything, and I know how much she is getting. I had to take the non spill plug thing out of the sippy cup, as she couldnt get anything out of the cup.

hey everyone,
Oh geez I've been meaning to post for yonkers, where does time go?
Happy Birthday to all the bubbas turning 1, I thinkI missed a few  but I was thinking of them all.
csab - I hope the new milk/pediasure combo works well for her weight, she always sounds like such a little character!
amy_o - GL for your DH getting new work, that must have all been so stressful for you. And another bubba who loves finger food!! We recently went to see a speech path cos X was refusing ALL finger food. She told us to get him to play with foods he liked... well even that didn't work. So we started doing lots of very ostentatious food play... dropping peas off the spoon high above the highchair stuff, things like that, and finally it worked and he started playing and now he's FINALLY eating some crackers - YAY! My mum thought it was hilarious I had to teach him to play with food lol and thinks I'll regret it. I don't think so, I'm so over slow, grumpy spoonfeeding!
Avasmum#1 - we switched to cow's milk gradually cos when I tried it cold turkey he said nuh-uh. Then after a week or so of varying proporations (mebbe half EBM half cow's), my DH just gave cow's straight and he was fine! I was so surprised. And now i'm still using up frozen EBM and he switches between the two ok, with varying proportions or all just one sort. I wondered too if I should switch to a sippy cup - but have kept it in a bottle and he's getting better at water from his sippy cup. Btw, also love the name Zara (love names with X or Z in particular ;))
Moi - I'm glad to hear you've been feeling a bit better, but scary re DH & work  hope it all works out ok. Have you had any more updates on Maya? I remember reading the earlier paed update and thinking that was goood.
AFM - well we've put off our TTC plans cos DH's back is still bad and was much worse earlier this month. Not great when I was just back at work (only 2 days luckily)... so I'm handyman/grocery shopper/houserworker/baby lifter/gardener/worker/bookkeeper... nah can't be PG as well! But he's finally getting some improvement and we're thinking early next year hopefully. X is crook at the moment, viral pharyngitis according to the doc... good old fashioned head cold according to me! It could be an MMR reaction too. He screamed the house down the other night, we got 1 hour of sleep :o that bites when you've been up at 6am and worked all day. Ah well. Apart from that he's happy cruising the furniture and babbling away.
Hi to the others i've missed, hope you're all going well.
Cheers,
Belfie

Hi Ladies, mind if i join you in here? My name is Jen.
I have two bubbas Jack and Isabella (yes yes common names but honestly when we came up with them we knew not a single other bubba with that/those names and I wasn't online during my pg either so that helped) they were born in August 08 but weren't due to arrive on the scene until 22Oct 08. We had lots of hurdles and 8weeks in NICU/SCN but now both are big bright beautiful babies er toddlers. I'm not ready to give up having them as babies by calling them toddlers just yet. Anyway would love to join in if you'll have us.
-
Of course we will have you!! I have one little bubba with the same due date as yours!! But she made an early arrival as well. :D And we are in Cairns too :D
Welcome Jen!
-
Hi girlies, still reading and catching up ... I am still flat out - nothing new.
belfie - i thought you were going to say with your DH's bad back you couldn't TTC because of , er, obvious reasons  .... bwahahaha.
I have unfortunately been unwell with bronchitis and sinusitis - a vicious circle of one of the kids being sick, me getting rundown looking after them and up at night, then me getting sick and no time to get well. Had my bloods done cos I was feeling over the top tired, my iron stores are still very low, so back on iron supps for me for 3 months - bleh - i was on them after Z was born ...
My stepmother has this mornng been diagnosed with breast cancer so I think I am escaping into online stuff again LOL. My mother died of leukemia 11 years ago, and dad met my step mother 10 years ago, so she is the only grandmother my kids know, and she is great with them. I am praying for things to be ok - but Thurs she found lump, Fri at docs, Monday ultrasound, Tuesday biopsy and this morning confirmed - so very fast, and it is the size of half a golf ball, so not small. So go check your boobies ladies!!!! :)
Z is doing well, not walking yet only just pulling himself up to stand - but man he is super fast on all fours though  it'll happen soon enough.
Z has started to do 3 hours in the middle of the day which I LOVE - I can work that in easy with school drop offs and pickups - he has been now since 10.30 though, so nearly 3.5hrs - which he tends to do after child care days - he has finally started to do 75 mins morning and afternoon at care so that is good, and loves his food. Doesnt eat mountains, but enough to keep him happy and sleeping. Still feeding a couple of times a day.
Take care x
-
SAMI I hope you feel better soon. Sorry to hear about your step mum.I hope everything works out ok
BELFIE I hope your DH"s back gets better soon. I also thought that you couldn't TTC cause you couldn't DTD lol
TWINGLES WELCOME! My DS was also due October but born in August. He was 7 weeks early. What size were your bubs? I still call my DS my baby too, although i'm sure he'd tell you otherwise lol
AMY I hope your DH's trial goes well. How stressful, being out of work. I'm sure B is still very healthy. It's great that she is showing the initiative to feed herself though it can be stressful to know if they're getting enough food into them. Do you have a follow up with your clinic?
CSAB Good to see you back, active online again :D How's miss V?
AVASMUM BJ has changed to the cows milk no problems. He did have real bad poo's at first, but he was also getting new teeth so i'm not sure what is was. He's on 2 - 3 milk feeds a day. He drinks anywhere from 100-250mls each, and he only has his bed time milk from a bottle. The others are sippy cup. Though I'll be dropping that bottle soon
MOI Sorry to hear you're still getting the vertico attacks. And I hope your DH doesn't lose his job. That'll be terrible
BJ has been fully walking for a few weeks now. He's also decided he's too busy to sleep. He's only sleeping one sleep cycle during the day, sometimes only once a day. I am putting it down to his new walking adventures and hope he goes back to his normal self real soon
-
HI all,
Belfie- So sorry to hear Dh is still having problems with his back, I feel for the both of you. Also sorry to hear the TTC plans have been put on hold, but time has well and truly flown past, next yr will be here in no time. V is a little character, just today she was looking at her reflection in the bench top, which is on the side of the cupboards, so she can see herself when sitting down on the floor. She started smiling at herself, nodding her head and waving at herself, then getting the giggles. So cute.
Welcome twingles, you would have something in common with Georgi, her little man came quite early too. I hope you enjoy getting to know everyone on here. Look forward to getting to know you and your beautiful twins too.
 hahaha  hahaha, Sami, get your head out of the gutter girl.
I am so sorry to hear about your step mother, I hope they have caught it in time, and she lives a long and happy life. Sorry to hear about your mother too, my dad passed away in Feb 2005 of stomach cancer and dementia, my father was the only pop my kids knew properly except my DD1 & DD2 were very young when he passed so never really knew him. I wish V could have met him too. Lots of  Sending lots of getwell vibes to you and your step mother. V is also not walking yet, but if holding her hands she will get herself up on her feet. It wont be long and V and Z will be walking/running. lol.
Georgi - Thanks hun, so glad BJ is enjoying his walking adventures, what a clever boy, and drinking from a sippy cup on most of his feeds, what a champion he is. V is doing well, she isnt fussed on the sippy cups with the spout, she expects it just to fall in her mouth with no effort. Bought her one with a straw yesterday, a Nuby one, but I couldnt suck anything up through the straw.
Well as I mentioned bought V a Nuby sippy straw cup and she was getting frustrated with it, so I thought I would try it and see if she was getting anything out of it, lol, I couldnt even get anything from it, except if you squeeze the top of it it seems to flow ok, but I am going to consider buying a different sippy cup for her. She chucked that much of a fuss she just wanted her bottle, hopefully the move over to the sippy cup wont be a trying one, but at least I know she can use a straw, as she did get some up on some occassions.
My oldest DS had made short films and entered them in a school competition for the NSW ans ACT states, and won his school some equipment, well anyway he is looking at going to uni next year, and their was another competition for short film awards, that the prize is a $14000 scholarship into a film school. He wasnt going to enter it as he thought he wouldnt make it in time, anyway, I told him just do it and see what happens as he is the sort of kid that will kick himself afterwards if he didnt enter it. Well Monday he was told out of 240 entries he made it to the top 30entries, today he was told that he has now made it to the top 8 and a presentation night will be held in November that will show the films and the winner will be announced. So:pray:::crossfingers: that he wins it. His school had told everyone (parents/families and students) on his yr 12 graduation that they were giving him a scholarship into the film industry, and ended up telling him that they werent they were only giving him a gift. I was so annoyed that they would do that to him, so I hope he wins as he deserves something for all his efforts, and after his dissappointment with what his school did. Ohh BTW they are naming a room at his school after him, due to the equipment he won them.

OMG... I feel like the worst mum in the world! Last night poor BJ spewed everywhere when he was having his milk before bed. So back into the bath he went, and me into the shower, cleaned up, then he had his milk & went to bed. He seemed happy enough so I thought he was fine. He woke at 8pm & cried for a minute or so then went back to sleep so I thought nothing of it. This morning he woke at 5am, cried for a minute or so, then back to sleep - fine. Then he woke at 6.30am crying. He never cries when he wakes in the morning. Normally he just plays in his cot till I get him. Anyway, I went in to get him and he, and the cot, was covered in vomit. It didn't seem fresh so I think he must of been sick last night at 8pm. Now I just feel terrible that I didn't check on him before I went to bed :(
He seems fine this morning, just didn't want his breakfast and seems to be drinking more water than usual. He normally has swimming on Friday mornings but I'm not going to take him. I guess if he's not eating then he must feel a little sick still.
Poor little mite.
CSAB I love the pic of V in your ticker.... Very cute
-
Lots of hugs Georgie, your not a bad mum at all. I hope little BJ is feeling better soon hun.
As for the pic hun of V, that was the last day she was in hospital, I kept taking her pic, and she loved to look at them. I thought that one was sooo cute, she was happy, cheeky, and looking heaps better.
Update - 12.25pm Hey Georgie, looks like V is going out in sympathy with BJ, she just threw up all over herself, gave her a bath and now she is asleep. Hopeing she isnt coming down with anything.
-
Hey everyone, sorry have been MIA for a couple of days, have been reading but not posting... trying to be good :p
amy_o - hows things with DH and the work situation?
How is B, eating well, Ava pretty much only eats finger foods too but is trying to self feed with a spoon which is VERY messy but if she takes it that way i try... Ava is only just over 8kilos too... maybe we have happy lil girls with fast metabolisms!
csab - hmm Ava only has 2 bottles a day, she has been drinking LOTS of water from her cup with a straw, have started putting an ice thing in it to keep it cool for her.
Am down to 90ml water and the rest milk, with 3 scoops of formula, hopefully within the next 2 weeks will be down to just milk and her body can adjust and we are done with the 'swapping' process.
 to your DS on his achievements, you must be very proud... hope he wins :crossfingers:
belfie - thanks i love Zara too but getting DP to agree... hmmm
Hope the TTC goes well once your DH's back is better.
Hope X is feeling much better and your getting some rest!
SamiH - so sorry to hear about your stepmother, i hope everything is ok.
Nice work with Z having a 3hr nap, wish A would do that, would mean i could get lots done and she would still be happy after 1 nap for the rest of the day.
Hope your feeling better, being sick SUCKS!
twingles - hi and welcome, i hope you enjoy getting to know all of us, as i'm sure we will you!
Georgi - go BJ, is it fun watching him walk around? No good bout the not sleeping, hope he decides to give you a rest and take a nap!
Hows BJ now, is he better.. poor little fella and poor you.
A covered me in spew ocne when she had an allergic reaction, 3 power spews all over me and the floor... YUCK... your not a bad mum hun... it could have been anything!
Hope i haven't missed anyone...
AFM - well i'm getting fatter and it's getting hotter, so not looking forward to summer.
A's top tooth has finally cut, yay we can see it and i think the one beside it wont be far off... she is still being a pain to get to sleep, have to cuddle her til she's almost out cold and hte put her down... where did my girl go that would just go to bed and self settle... hmm being sick for that 3 weeks ruined her... lol
She's over her sky diving attempt last weekend, is more interested in the pool these days so going for a swim this arvo... aslong as it's not too hot.
Was 25 degrees at 9am, had already spent an hour outside.. hmm
Still waiting on some info re: the home loan etc etc but trying not to stress myself out about it all.
Well thats it for me, started some threads on summer ideas for bubs etc re: food and keeping them occupied.. take a look.

HI all, sorry just a quick one, wanted to let you all know that I am so proud of little V, she is now drinking from a sippy cup with straw. She has been running around with it all day. I think she thinks she so clever, which she is. hehehe. I had one that I bought last week but it was one of those soft straw ones, and she couldnt get the hang of it and would just throw it, so I bought her a hard straw tommy tippee one and she loves it.
-
csab - oooh clever V! She must be so proud of herself! X hasn't figured out straws yet.
Ava'smum - what is your due date? Hopefully the really hot weather won't hit until after #2 has arrived! How are you finding it managing Ava & belly? GL with the home loan too.
Georgi - hope BJ is all better now, and you are SO not a bad mum! Don't beat yourself up hun, I'm sure he's absolutely fine!
SamiH - aah shoulda known your mind would be in the gutter :p I'm so sorry to hear things have been tough recently and I hope everything improves. Selfishly, it's great to see you back here (actually to see everyone back posting a bit more again!).
amy_o - how is everything for you? Any luck with DH's job?
Twingles - welcome to the group! I agree that calling them toddlers is a bit tough. I have a baby on board sign on my car... the other day I wondered if we still qualify to use it EEEP! But I'm denial, so keeping it up there. As long as he's not walking, he's not a toddler! How do you find it with two little ones? Must keep you busy I imagine!
Moi - how are you feeling now? Hope you've had no more bouts, and Maya is going strong. She's growing so fast!!
We're doing ok. DH's back is improving slowly... (and yes, for the gutter-minded) the concern for the back is NOT for DTD but rather managing X and me if I was PG again (given my last PG was mega-crapola IMO!). X has mastered the art of going down our two steps (sunken lounge) by spinning around & going down backwards. But sometimes he spins a little too early...so then spins again... and again. Four/five spins before he actually goes down 'em. Hilarious. He's mostly over his bug now thank goodness and just happily cruising still. Starting to get more adventurous with finger foods too YAY!
Hope everyone else is well!
Cheers,
Belfie

Quick me post. I keep thinking I am doing better but I keep getting the vertigo attacks and last week had a few bad ones. I think I had gastro or food posioning as well (vertigo makes me sick on the stomach so hard to tell 100%). Anyway I am pretty sure I had another illness so that wouldn't have helped. Tomorrow I have some balance tests at 8.30am for 3 hours!! Luckily my mother is staying overnight to then baby sit Maya in the morning while DH and I are out.
DH now works for the new company. We probably won't know what's happening with his job till next year.
Maya has finally started cruising furniture. Before now she would stand but would only walk if someone was holding her hands. She can happily stand anywhere now (as long as she has something to hold on to) but annoyingly she is too scared to get back down. So all day now she'll stand then play for a bit then cry to have someone help her back down - over and over again. Not sure what I can do to help her learn to get herself down.
I stopped bottles all together a couple of weeks ago and within a couple of days she was drinking milk well from a straw cup. I bought some new cups and it's her original MagMag she likes. She drinks 300-500mls a day and I make sure she gets plenty of cheese & yoghurt to make up for the days she doesn't have as much.
Will try and do personals another day. Have been reading but been too unwell to post.
-
Belfie - i am due the 8th Jan but i have had a dream and continuing odd feeling of the 27th December... she waits until after x-mas... lol
So far so good with Ava and #2, getting a little tired now but Ava has adjusted and pops her feet over my belly to be carried, or she sits her knees in the groove at the top of my belly.. sooo cute!
Go X with the steps... would be so cute to see him spinning around then heading down.. Ava has figure the 2 outside steps but they are quite wide and not at all high.
Moi - already wished you luck on FB but good luck for tomorrow and stay positive!
The results might be better than you thought and just what you need to get your confidence back!
-
MOi - GL for today, I hope all goes well, and you start feeling better soon. So glad your mum is giving you a hand with Maya. Maya is a clever girl too, drinking her milk now from the sippy cup/straw. Well done little Miss M. V is the same with only holding onto hands with wanting to walk, her legs are too shaky for me to even let her go. She loves standing holding onto the lounges. Dont worry about M, not wanting to get down herself, she will get the hang of it soon enough. Once she realises it isnt so scarey she will be right. Thats great your DH gets to stay with the new company. Hugs
Belfie - Hehehe, love it. Little X mastering the stairs by spinning himself into position, and even if missing the right position keeping on spinning until he does. Too cute. Glad the little man is getting better now, as well as the big man's back improving. hugs
Ava - It would be funny if your dream came right, with having your little princess on the 27th. How cute is Ava, positioning herself in all the right comfy places on you. hehe.
Well, everytime I go to put V on the floor she keeps her legs straight so she can stand, with help by holding her hands, as she walks its like she giving a bit of a dance. Bopping up and down tapping her feet. Cute. Once she is walking she is going to look so teeny weeny. Her little legs look like sticks, although have some fat emerging. I am hoping that with the change in milk with pediasure the weight will pile on. Since starting it though she isnt eating, just playing with the food, so seems to be making her full quick. Also, now that she realises that water tastes good, she has taken a little backstep with the milk too. Sometimes I am wondering will I ever win this battle. Also had the Genetics team call yesterday as V's pead, sent them another referral for them tolook at V again. I was so hoping he would forget or change his mind. Yet no. I asked them are they going to tell me that she has something wrong, as I am tired of hearing there could be something wrong with her, yet she keeps on proving them wrong. I told them she is just petite, and all her features come from different parts of the family, not a condition. She said ohh they wont say that, they just want to see how she is progressing. Load of cr#p. I just wish someone would hear me on this and agree. It really gets you down hearing them pick your baby to pieces everytime they see her. I honestly dont see anything wrong with her, my DH is the same. She does everything she is supposed to be doing, she is happy. The only thing shes tiny/petite. She is definately not a big eater. She is the size of approx a 6mth old, how many 6mth olds do you see eating heaps? She has a tiny belly. I dont look forward to these appts, I get stressed about them as they get closer. SO now I am  little V puts on a fair bit of weight before her pead appt in December, so her pead wont send her to Westmead childrens hospital to see a Dr there.
On a brighter note, I said to V to say Jazz, her sister is Jazmine, and she goes Jazz, Azz on occassions too, so cute. Trying to get her to say Nada, her other sister is Nadia. she just looks at me and says something else, like I am not going to give you anymore just yet. hehe.
-
CSAB - yeah Ava seems to have it down pat now but doesn't stop her kicking my belly when she's having a whinge... lol
I hope V puts on a little weight for you before the next appt but like you said she's happy and she does everything she is supposed to.
I had the same issues with ppl telling me how SMALL Ava was but this kid eats like a bloody horse, she's just PETITE!
-
AM - I am glad Ava eats well, I just wish V would. She is such a crappy eater, and now since starting the pediasure shes seems to be worse. :shakehead: It drives me insane as sometimes I feel we are going a few steps back not forward. Yet she seems to be heavier and her little bottom seems bigger as well as her thighs. Knowing me I am probably just imagining it along with wishful thinking.

My life offically sucks. DH got a trial with Best and Less, yesterday was his second day we were driving him in and the car broke down. Yup. Just when I thought there was NOTHING else that could happen. I had Bethany in the car no nappy bag cause it was meant to be a quick trip in and out and oh yeah a husband who is on trial for a job and now going to be late. Managed to organise a tow truck (God bless RACQ) DH was able to track down a number for the manager he is working with (they are setting up a new store no phone.) and let them know what the go was. And Bethany and I set about taking a rather long walk home.
Get car back today. Thankfully can pay for car but that was the money that I had been saving literally for weeks for my birthday dinner on friday. I wanted chinese.
I am not a happy camper. I am contempating hiding under the bed so the world can't see me and do more bad stuff.
I am a bad mummy. I can't seem to get back in to the swing now that DH is at work all day. Yesterday I had to put Bethany in her cot with some toys and music and just lie down for 30min. My head was throbbing.
I am convinced she is on a hunger strike, she isn't eating. She puts it in her mouth then takes it out and puts it on her tray and repeats this till she gets bored. Guess I should be grateful she drinks.
Ok well that is enough of a whinge from me. Maybe I can find a good mood and come back later.
