Pretz: i also sustained a 2nd degree tear, which i also had with DD. I tried looking the other night like the midcall midwife suggested i do but i couldnt see any stitches, my pain has mostly gone now dont need to take anything for it. Hope you feel better soon :hugs: Like Vix i'll wake Benjamin if he's been asleep for 4.5hrs which i've only had to do a few times, otherwise he'll wake when he's hungry.

My 1st post in this thread...Madison is 2 weeks old tomorrow!!! :o time seems to be going very fast right now. Hmmm...maybe its just a blur due to sleep deprivation lol.
Have an appointment on Sat with Rachael Wilson Photography (she has a facebook page) for piccies with bub, my daughter, DP & me - am very excited her pics are so gorgeous!!! I've never had anything like this done before. previous bubby pics of my DD1 & DS were pixiphotos back in the day lol.
Hope you are all enjoying your newborn cuddles... nawww....I reckon there is nothing better than newborn bubby smell...its so pure & sweet :loveshower:

going well here,Ty seems to be settled alot better now & has decided to have a massive 7hr sleep the past few nights!
Vic(& anyone else) - can I ask what you do during this long sleep when I seem to wake before Ty because my boobs Re rock hard? Express? This morning at 4.30 I fed him in his sleep for some relief!
Group question- *TMI* is everyone still bleeding? Mine is not heavy at all but still bright red & I forgot to ask the midwife about it the other day. I could wear 1 regular pad a day(flow wise) but of course change regularly for hygiene!! Not too worried but have been a bit dizzy the last day so maybe my iron is low?
Crazy to think Ty is 2 weeks old today, this time 2 weeks ago we were on our way to the hospital to get induced!

Well, we are finally getting some sleep around here. Summer has decided sleeping in her cot is ok & has started sleeping 2 - 3 hours between feeds, then going back to sleep after. Hoping that keeps up!
We are breastfeeding & its going really good. I've had alot of trouble feeding in the past & didn't get past the first 6 weeks with my older girls. It was a battle to make it beyond that point with DS, but we pushed & got there. Once we made it past that point, everything came good. Not sure if we'll have any problems this time around, but so far, so good! Must be doing ok...she put ON 10 grams in hossy rather than loose any.
MCHN called me yesterday, she'll probably come out here next week I guess. I hope she can get out here, instead of the other one, just to test her memory, lol. She has a memory like an elephant & is well known for it, but its been over 5 years since I had a baby here, so I'd be interested to see how much she remembers about me.
Today is going to be our first day out. Glad DH is still home, its all a bit daunting, even though I've done it before.
My house is almost back in order. Feeling so much better about it. DH has been great. I haven't washed up once yet, & he's done all the cooking except the potatoes last night. Got the girls up & off to school yesterday too. I'm up though, so I'll just do it today.
I'm loving this. I really didn't want another baby, but the teeny tininess... the newborn grunts & groans, the tiny cuddles & the way she stares at us like we're the whole world when we talk to her... its all so amazing. I wish she could stay so sweet & perfect forever.
ETA - Sparkles, I'd express for comfort, or you can get a supply of EBM stored in the freezer while you have the over supply if you like. Its up to you.
RE, bleeding/lochia, it will probably last up to 6 weeks. Mine was 8 weeks last time. Very light & brown for the last few weeks though. You might find that its redder, or heavier when you feed. Thats coz while you are feeding your body tells your uterus to contract back to normal & will force a bit more lochia out. From memory it'll be red for another week or 2, then should start to go more brown. Thats only what I remember from 2.5 years ago though. If its heavy enough to worry you, or smells wrong, get checked, coz you could have an infection.

Sparkles - i either wake Coops up and feed him for comfort or express a little. i know what you mean but it is soooooo uncomfortable.
i to am also bleeding but i only had him 5 days ago lol. like clover said if your worried about it or you have to change your pad like 5 times an hour then you should seek medical advice.

no wonder its so lonely over in the normal thread :( LOL. can't believe some of your babies are 2 and 3 weeks old already! wow it's gone fast. my little fatty still hasn't decided to make an entrance. I might end up having to join a babies born in late october group or something at this rate.

Thats ok Brydz. We had a bubby in my other group born 6 weeks early & one 2 weeks early. They both hung around in our thread anyway, coz they were still at around the same stage in developement. I think one of them also joined the other group with babies the same age as well. So don't worry, you won't get kicked out :)

Vix - Thanks for your post and advice about waking Noah. I feel bad that I have to wake him for his feeds during the day and night, but the Clinic Nurse said that because he is still a bit jaundiced and because he hasn't reached his birth weight again yet that I should feed him every 3 hours during the day and every 4 hours during the night, and because he is such a good boy and sleeps well, I have to set an alarm and wake him up to feed him. Luckily once he is awake he feeds well and he feeds for longer now and during the day he seems more content, alert and active after his feeds before falling asleep again. :) He does seem to look a little less yellow to me now and has a pooey and wet diaper everytime I change him just before I feed so I'm guessing that it's all good. ;) Thrilled to hear you sorted out the pediatrician appt and that you're booked into another one now. Hope he is good.
Nikki - Thought I'd post in here instead of reply in the Belly Buddies thread. Wow, Ben has gained a lot of weight in the last week, but that's fantastic news!! :dance: Hope you have been getting some rest and good sleep inbetween his feeds. ;)
Bonham - Glad that you found the thread and glad to hear that your 2nd degree tear is healing nicely and that you don't need to take anything for it anymore.
Beckles - Yay on the appt with the photographer today. I had a photographer come around yesterday morning to take some photos of Noah and should get them in the next week or so. Can't wait!! I hear ya on the time going by fast. My Noah is already 2 weeks and 2 days old today too. Perhaps it is the sleep deprevation that makes time seem to go by faster lol.
Clover - Glad to hear that your DH did a great job by himself at home, although I'd feel the same about not wanting to leave things he didn't get around to. It would drive me nuts too.
Raffy - Glad that Coop is doing well, even though he lost 200g. Noah was 4.030kg at birth, then lost weight to 3.660kg and was 3.770kg on Wednesday when I weighed him. The nurse said he should regain his birth weight by next Wednesday or be close to it, so I'm hoping that he will be back to 4.030kg+ otherwise I'll probably worry about it. lol
Sparkles - I'm still bleeding too and it's been 16 days for me now. My bleeding isn't very heavy anymore, but like Clover said when you feed it may become heavier/redder, I have found that is what happens with me. I would say that what you're experiencing could be normal, however if you're unsure, give your midwife/OB a call to check just to be sure.
Brydz - You should stay here with us. You don't need to move on to another thread even if Vinny is born outside of the "1 October to 15 October 2010 date range". Vix and I both had our bubba's before 1 October and we're going to stick here with you girls. Our bubba's are all the same age anyway so I don't think it matters. :)
AFM, have been really tired the last 2 days as I have been feeding Noah every 3 hours during the day and every 4 hours during the night to try to get his weight up for when I get him weighed next Wednesday and to help flush out that last bit of jaundice he still has. It's killing me though because by the time I get him settled, have brekky, a shower etc, it's almost time again for his next feed and I don't get to nap inbetween. lol Guess it will get better with time though. ;) My 2nd degree tear pain is slowly getting better. Still needing to take some panadol at times during the day but it's much better than it was a few days ago.
Well then, off to go have a cuppa tea with my Mum.

Anyone else have an unsettled bub during the day? Ty just hates sleeping during the day, he fights & fights it, then is overtired so he is cranky and the cycle continues!!
He has been great at night though, generally one wake up & up to a 7 hour stint of sleep!! But the days are driving me insane, he just wants to be on my boob all day (sleeping & feeding ....or a combination of both :) ).

Sparkles, are you still wrapping him? Maybe you have it too quiet or something? I know Summer is only starting to settle at night now coz she didn't like it quiet. I think now she's getting used to it.

Re the bleeding - mine had almost disappeared and over the last 3 days has gone back to a deep red colour. Cant remember what is normal, but still only going through one pad a day. Anyone elses pelvic floor still sore too?? Mine aches by the end of the day - guess thats what i get for having a 9 pound baby this time :(
Its horrible isn't it Nikki. Mine hurts non stop atm. Getting better though. I want to get back into exercising & walking, but am forcing myself to wait at least a week.
All my joints in my back/pelvis & hips are still bad too. Worse than they were in the last few days of pregnancy :( I just gotta rest heaps I guess... if thats possible...
Nikki - Hope you got your grocery shopping done with both kiddies and they were good for you. ;) My Mum and I are going to go do grocery shopping tomorrow. Yes, my pelvic floor/pelvis still hurts and feels achy and tender. I also still have a really sore lower back and my va-jay-jay still hurts (where I tore) too. It seems to be ok at times and getting better, but then once I've been up and moving around heaps it seems to be getting worse again. :( I actually phoned this morning and made an appt with my physio for Wednesday as the physio that saw me in hossy said that I have Diastasis (muscle separation of my abdomen muscles) and where it usually is 2-4cm separated, mine is 6cm separated and I was told I'd need some physio for a while :doh:but better to get it tended to now than later and have more problems with it.
AFM, never had a sleep today as we had some friends over today and they just left. Noah didn't sleep much either today and fed really well. He is asleep now and I'm about to go have a shower before his next feed, then time for dinner (thankfully my Mummy is cooking us tea) and then hopefully when Noah goes to sleep, I can get a few hours sleep too. Perhaps I'll express some milk and Daddy or Granny can feed him through the night so I can get some zzzzzzzz......

Nikki - yes my pelvic floor still aches to but i had a 3rd degree tear and muscle damage in my bottom lol. nothing nurofen cant help though, thank god. my bleeding also slowed almost to a stop but has come back but like you said its still not bad enough to be worried about. hope you managed to get your shopping done while you had some good kiddies.
Pretz - arent mummys the best. my mum cooked a beautiful soup for us tonight. just what i needed, and with the whether the way it is at the moment it was just the right thing for tea :) glad to hear Noah is feeding well. Cooper is already starting to stay awake more during the day which is nice, he was a bit boring the last few days coz all he did was eat and then sleep for hours. ive got some EBM in the fridge for tonight JIC coz im sooo tired but chances are ill wake up with engorged boobys and just wana do it myself again lol.

Just popping in. severly sleep deprived atm which makes me feel so light headed at times. My milk has dropped off so I will need to start expressing tomorrow to boost it back up.
Alannah slept 'maybe' 40 minutes from 11am until about 4.30pm when she finally crashed and like I said for only 40 minutes. I spent so long trying to settle her at lunch that I did not get lunch at all until about 3pm when i had some fruit cake that my gf bought over for me.
Tomorrow I am calling my CHN and DEMANDING someone comes out and does a PND test on me rather than waiting for a nurse to decide to come out. I have no idea what is going on with the little miss. Not sure if colic or silent reflux at this stage.
Some nights I try and settle her from about 8pm - midnight and just keep putting her on the boob as that is what she seems to want and she likes to fall asleep there or having cuddles. Sometimes she feeds for 20 minutes/10 mins per side and others it is 40 / 20 mins perside. Last night i fed her and then topped her up with a ff and she crashed rather quickly. Don't really wanna ff at this stage but I have to think about my state of mind at the moment as I am literally running myself into the ground. People say sleep when the baby sleeps.......yer right! Sometimes I really need to eat a meal, go to the toilet, shower and actaully spend some time with my boys who feel like strangers to me atm.
This morning she woke at 3.30am and after her feed, it took me from about 4.15am till 5am to settle her again.
I have only had my gf as a visitor since being home as I can't handle the thought of being here with someone else in the house to worry about. On Friday night i just broke down from the exhaustion and stress of it all...after screaming at Alannah to shut the f*** up. DH had to settle her and I just sat on the floor and cried. This is NOT what I imagined I would be like 3rd time round. There is other 'stuff' but i am too exhausted to try and even explain it atm. Sorry to be so neg but that is just how it is atm.
Alannah is out of size 000 Bonds Wondersuits now. Starting to fit into some other brands in size 000. I have a 0000 OshCosh jumpsuit and it is massive on her. The sizings in this country are stupid to say the least!
Yesterday I got my first real smile. Other than that she just frowns at me which is prolly all she sees me doing.
On the bright side though, my darling girl is :heartbeat:ONE MONTH OLD TODAY! :heartbeat:

vix - sorry to read that you are having some emotional troubles. HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE hugs!! You are doing an amazing job. A newborn and 2 young boys certainly wouldn't be easy work!! I can't imagine how I'm going to deal with just the one child. It's great that you are able to talk about your feelings, like I told my friend, getting it off your chest is one of the most important and therapeutic things you can do to help yourself out. We are all here to listen too :)
Part of me still wants to go down the career path of psych nursing when I hear people having struggles, I just want to be able to help them.. Studying is way off my radar for now anyways with bub on the way. I'm not sure what I'll do, because a huge part of me also wants to go back and finish div 1 and do midwifery.. so hard to choose haha.
