Hi Girls!
I have been reading but too busy to post. Just that time of the year I guess...oh, and looking after a baby :lol:
Kelly - so glad my post on our routine helped! It is interesting to hear how other mums are doing things and take what you like from all the bits of information. The 1.5-2 hour awake time thing really works for us. How cute are the rolling attempts?! Izzy has been doing that for the past couple of weeks and she's managed to roll onto her back from tummy time but that's it. She does fling her self around A LOT these days. I've got quite the little rigggle pot on my hands!
Interesting thought about giving top ups and bubs becoming a snacker. I hadn't thought of that but you could well be onto something there :think: I'm pretty sure my supply has dropped off as Izzy dropped 2 feeds within a week as she started sleeping 10 hours overnight AND sleeping lots during the day so she was only getting 4 feeds a day :o . I've been giving her extra BF's where I can to try and boost my supply but we have been giving her formula top ups too. She seems to feed well still but also guzzles the top ups. I have expressed a few times in the past few weeks and although I know Izzy can get more out than a breast pump, the amounts have been a lot less than they use to be. I'll continue to BF but I think I might have to continue with the top ups. I'm a bit worried about snacking though now, that's a reallky good point! Oh well, if that ends up being the case I think I'll just wean her. I'll miss the bonding with BF but not all the other worries! LOL.
Sangie - yay for the 2.5 hour day sleep!! Did he do a repeat performance for you? Izzy is a real chatterbox (not unlike her mum!) and it cracks us up listening to her babble onto anything she thinks will listen to her. I find myself always saying 'oh, is that right?' all the time. I just love the baby talk
Sanchez - PMSL!!! I totally understand though and I *think* it's normal. What, with those big gapping holes we all have now. Ha ha ha! Flappin' in the breeze...charming. Sorry, I just brought that conversation to a whole new level didn't I :shakehead: ? I do have the same issue at the pool as you and I seem to do a lot more - TMI - fanny farts. I guess it will eventually bounce back into shape...maybe :dunno:
I'm looking at joining DH on a business trip to Singapore and KL within the next couple of weeks. Can you give me some tips on packing and travelling with a baby?! I'm so scared about doing it and wonder how Iz will go (ie is it really worth all the hassle???) but would really like to go. We did so much travelling before we were parents and I really miss it. Any advice would be great!
Art - A is so much more advanced than Izzy! Are you sure you didn't secrely pop her out a month earlier?! :lol: We inherrited the Fisher Price Jumperoo from DH's cousin and I can't wait to get Izzy in it. She's finally get a bit more neck control and is really strong in her legs and constantly wanting to stand now so hopefully she'll be ready for it soon. It looks like so much fun!
Pooley - how's little F going? I saw on FB that you thought he may be teething. Is he? So sorry to hear about you dog too. So sad. It's horrible when you lose a pet, they are just part of the family.

Us - going really well and really, really enjoying motherhood now. I'm so glad to have the first 3 months behind us. Don't get me wrong, I did love bits of it but the breastfeeding issues and silent reflux made the ride very bumpy indeed. I finally feel human again and we are returning to a somewhat normal life ie we are actually going out in the evenings again now. Woohoo!
Izzy is absolutely adorable, if I do say so myself :D She is such a placid, happy and smiley little girl. Everyone always comments on how smiley she is, we love it. She's still sleeping really well at night (although our day started at 4.30am today as we had her out last night so I stuffed up her routine) and getting in some great day sleeps. She usually does 3 hours in the morning (sometimes it's in one block, with a couple of bounces of her hammock in between to resettle her, and sometimes in two naps) and a couple in the afternoon. I tend to go out in the afternoon if we have plans so I can be pretty sure she gets at least one good sleep in for the day. She does tend to sleep in the car if we are out though and in the pram if it's moving so she gets several catnaps in the arvo. It's working well and it means I can have some sort of a life again.
We actually went out to lunch yesterday for a friends birthday and then we met another group of friends at Little Creatures Brewery (our old stomping ground) in Freo later in the afternoon for drinks. All up we were out from 1 - 7.30pm! Besides the fact that I only had 1.5 wines (oh, and I was feeding and nursing a baby!), it felt like the good old days! She did have to sleep in the sling but that was fine with me. It was just so nice to be out doing things I love again.
Izzy is a real chatterbox and really getting into playtime now. She loves lying on her playmat and tugging at the rings hanging from it and whacking the other toys. She's learnt to wriggle backwards too which is so cute but a bit scary as she is well and truly on the move! It started a couple of weeks ago when I put her down to tidy up the kitchen and when I checked on her, I found she'd done a 180 degree turn! New moves were duely noted and mental note to self was 'do not leave baby unattended any more'! I cannot believe she's more or less mobile at 3 months! Scary.
Iz has also found her legs in the past few days and loves to stand up while she's in your lap. There are lots of 'up/down' actions happening now and she thinks it's a right hoot. She also loves when we sing 'If you're happy and you know it clap your hands' and smiles like mad and throws in a few giggles for good measure. It is so damn cute!
We've been swimming again with the girls from mothers group but at the local pool at our own pace and the babies loved it, even Izzy. :clap: We are meeting again tomorrow for another dip. Really looking forward to it.

Well I might get back into wrapping Christmas pressies. I wasn't really in the mood for Christmas this year, it all just seemed too hard with a baby, but now all the shopping is done and the decorations are up, I'm really looking forward to it. I know Izzy won't give two hoots about it but it'll still be so much fun from now on.

Ok girls - apparently my "pool" problem is normal.....PHEW!
I had an appointment with my postnate physio and i told her about it and yeah she said in time it will sort itself out. ***TMI ***In other not so good news it appears i have nerve damage inside my vag all on one side, the physio was prodding the bone inside me and i have lost all feeling on one side, and i have really weak pelvic floors on that one side. Nothing could have prevented it - just happens. but i am on a waiting list to get a gizmo that goes up my vag and is like a car battery and will shock my muscles into life! :o (apparently!!!). She said i am nowhere near being the worst person with problems. Made me feel better! :redface:
In other news I am having no luck at trying to get this extra weight off - I am going to the gym and eating well....and it continues to stay....disappointing.
And in other horror news....Violet has started to lose her hair - very upsetting, her hair is her personality...she has so much of it...seems to be coming off the back and sides - not the top. I gave her panadol for the first time the other night although i think majority of it dribbled out - was really grizzly and pulling her ears and nashing her gums - think her teeth were having an up day. I hear they go up and down for ages before they break the skin.
Taurean - I would definately travel honey. Strap on a Baby Bjorn and off you go. Singapore being a 1st world country you would have no problems. Few outfits, some nappies and your good to roll.....I reckon if you are giving top ups just buy the S26 in the popper boxes so you don't have to mix with water and it would be easy!
Anyhoo...have to go to sleep....will write more later...sorry this post has been all about me!

Just sticking my nose in to say,.. "Im still alive"! I have been busy with family christmas things... Its that time of year! I have been reading your posts when I get a chance!
I will update you on Ava another post, but have to say she is still slow on the rolling dept. Although thats probably a good thing! Less likely to roll off the change table.
Hope you are all as well as to be expected. I'm off to clean house. Got the mums group coming around this arvo. Been baking up a storm for them, but I really have to mop the kitchen floor. Its disgusting!

Girls.....does anybodies baby keep grabbing their hair behind their head and ears? Violet has started doing it and does it a lot and i don't know what it means. She sometimes does it quite aggresively.....i googled it and it seems to be common with tiredness, but V does itall day long......any ideas?

Hi, everyone. We're still alive after a shocking week with Frazer. All I can say is thank god DH is on 6 weeks holidays or I woulda lost the plot that's for sure!!
We first thought Frazer was teething, the drooling, chomping down on everything and anything, slight cough and felt a tad warm. Then the histerical "pain" crying started. Was unlike any noise I have ever heard come out of him. He wasn't feeding properly, and everytime he woke up he'd scream and take ages to settle him down, we started to try the Panadol and Hylands teething tablets, (which are fantastic btw, has helped sooo much with the drooling) Bonjella but after a horrendous weekend (which included my brothers 30th b'day party) we decided to go to the docs. She diagnosed oral thrush which I think Taurean, Izzy had a while back??
So after a couple of terrible nights and 2 full days of medication he is slowly getting back to his normal self. You could tell he was definately not himself and just miserable. Have been pretty much house ridden since Sunday as have been to scared to go out with him. We ordered an amber necklace for him from Amberbebe.com which is a natural alternative to relieve some of the teething symptoms so am looking forward to that coming as I think that is starting as well, which probably didn't help on top of the thrush.
Sanchez- Sorry can't help with the hair thing, Frazer doesn't have enough to grab on to, but will find any blanket or spew rag to hold on to behind his head if he is lying down. Maybe ask a CHN? Sorry to hear the news about your lady bits, nice to be reassured by the physio though. These are times when I feel lucky that Frazer was too big to come out the right entrance. lol
Anyways, hope that has explained why I have been MIA. DH was lucky enough to catch Frazer rolling over tonight. I have seen him do it a couple of times but DH kept missing it.

We made the move to Esk..yes it is hot here but its a dry heat. We have rainwater hooked up to the laundry and toilets and it hasnt rained much but apparently when the tank gets to a certain level it tops up with town water which is from Somerset Dam..I think. I constantly have to think about our water usage..on top of other things.
Indigo is doing well I havnt had her weighed etc since her 2mnth check up so it will interesting to see how much she weighs. My sister had her first baby and a girl last sunday so Indigo will have a cousin close in age. No rolling yet but lots of cooing, smiling and touching things and she even pushed her dummy back in the other day when it fell out. I have just bought a Bumbo again..as I sold the last one.
It doesnt feel like xmas to me so Im hoping that changes next week!! The boys have got a Buzz Lightyear toy each and Indigo has got her 1st cabbage patch fairy doll amongst other things lol

Sanchez - thanks for the travel tips. Looks like we'll be going in the new year with a bit of luck. I've got Izzy's passport sorted so we're ready to go now. Scary but fun! With regards to Violet pulling her hair behind her ears, is it possibly teething? Bubbies often tug their ears when teething so maybe Violet just prefers to tug her hair instead! Izzy isn't doing anything like that but the fact that she doesn't have enough hair to tug might make a difference. She's still quite the bald little poppet. Has a band of dark hair at the base of her head, like an old man, and just a dusting on the rest of her head. I was a baldy for quite some time so I'm thinking she might be the same.
Pooley - yup, Izzy had oral thrush (and I had it in my boobies - ouch!). It's quite yukko for them so I hope Frazer is on the mend. Did they give him that awful fluro yellow Nilstat stuff? What a stupid colour!! At least the cherry flavour isn't too bad. It was so funny smelling Izzy's cherry scented burps, LOL :lol:
Nicola - glad the move went well. I've bought Izzy quite a lot of stuff for Xmas but I didn't even think of getting her a doll! :doh: I'll have to give her one for her first birthday instead.
We've been busy with Christmas shopping and looking for a block to buy. Yes, our house sold!! It took 6 weeks, not bad at all. Settlement is in Feb so we'll start packing soon to avoid a mad rush in Feb. We are planning on building again in one of our favourite suburbs on the Swan River over here in Perth. Have found a couple of blocks we're interested in so hopefully we'll make an offer soon and secure our piece of paradise :D We don't plan on building for a couple of years though as it generally takes that long to get everything organised anyway so we're going to rent close to my parents which will be great. We are currently a 30 minute drive away so not all that convenient.
Izzy is doing really well and is such a gorgeous baby. We are so lucky! She's sleeping beautifully still (besides a random night with two wake up calls on Saturday - I was shattered!) with 9-10 hours straight overnight and a good few hours in the morning and a bit of catnapping in the afternoon as I'm usually out and about. She really is a dream baby but I guess we did do the hard yards with breastfeeding issues and her silent reflux. It's been worth the effort, that's for sure!
We weighed Iz last week as she hadn't gained much at her 12 week checkup and it looks like the few extra comp feeds did the trick - she had gained 570 grams in two weeks!!!! So she was at 5.3kg a week ago. I'm thrilled. She's quickly growing out of all her tiny stuff and is wearing a mix of 000 and 00 clothes now. I need to buy her some more little casual summer dresses as I had to pack away my fave ones over the weekend :cry: Boo hoo!!!
We're off for a swim this afternoon with the girls from mothers group. Five of us really clicked from day one so we've been catching up twice a week for a swim on Monday's then afternoon tea on a Wednesday. It's a hot one here today so I'm really looking forward to our swim. Izzy enjoys it a lot more than the class we went to as we just go at our own pace, she seems to like that. I'll go back to some sort of swimming class with her again soon but I don't think the class we did is for us. I'm happy to just do a bubs class and skip on the mums session. Getting her to feed and settle in the pram quickly so I can get back in the pool is just asking too much. It really was more stressful than anything which totally defeats the purpose.
Izzy has so many presents under our Christmas Tree it really is a bit ridiculous. I'm loving it though and can't wait to get photos of her with her stash of goodies. I've mainly bought her clothes but did get her a few toys for different development stages. We got shaped blocks, a Fisher Price aquarium, an activity centre thing that hangs on the inside of the cot, one of those ring stacker things and a walker than converts into a bike. Fun fun!!
That's about it from us. I'd better finish getting ready for swimming so we can head off once Miss Izzy has woken from her super sleep!!

Nicola, that is good that your tank fills up from the dam when it gets low, it is a real pain to have to be so careful of water usage after living in town.

Sanchez, I hope that V's hair loss has slowed down - or does she have a big mohawk now? A lost most of her newborn hair but it is regrowing back quite quickly. It was a massive frizzball yesterday, but it must have reached terminal frizz and today it has fallen flat. She looks like a big girl now without her fuzz.
Hope that everyone is enjoying the lead up to Christmas.
All is well here. The IL's are arriving on the 27th so we are doing Christmas day on the 28th so they can be here to share the present opening. DS is very excited about it.
Amelia is absolutely perfect. She has been waking in the night again, but a quick feed puts her back to sleep most of the time and if that fails I just take her to bed. She is really loving the Jumperoo, she bounces around with a huge smile. DS keeps wobbling her around in it and I go to tell him to be careful and there she is with a massive grin lol. She is starting to pick things up and examine them which is cute and she can nearly last a half hour walk in the pram awake before she cracks it.

I'm here but yeah, busy busy time of year. Been a bit crazy around here trying to catch up with lots of people before Christmas.
Taurean - congrats on selling your house and good luck getting a block! Building will be so exciting! We are updating our kitchen next year and I'm so excited. I've been researching benchtops, splashbacks and appliances - I'm like a kid in a toy store lol!
Art - sounds like your DS is going to love Chrissy this year. DD understands exactly what's going to happen this year and she can't wait for Santa to come. He drove past our house in a fire truck last night and she was so excited, its so cute to watch their little eyes light up!
Pooley - fingers crossed that the nasty thrush is gone and gone for good.
Sanchez - I hope your princess hasn't lost too much hair. No idea on the hands behind her ears, maybe she likes how her hair feels lol! I love lots of hair on little bubbas, so cute! Ethan's hair has grown a lot lately and now he has a full head of light brown hair whish is much better than the balding old man look he had before. It is still very sparse but hopefully it will thicken up soon!
Nicola - glad you are all moved and settled. Ethan loves the bumbo too.
Sounds like all our little bubbas are being little angels now! Ethan has been really good lately. Still sleeping 10 hours or so every night and his day sleeps have improved a lot. We now get at least one decent sleep in the afternoon (around 2 hours) and then shorter naps the rest of the time (40 mins or so). He is also starting to grab things and put them in his mouth and he finally rolled from tummy to back this week. He won't go the other way but that's probably because he isn't a fan of being on his tummy! Oh and he's still a chatterbox!
Hope everyone is ready for Christmas. My two littlies are going to be a bit spoilt. DH was helping me wrap presents the other night and said 'don't you think you've gone a bit overboard this year ha ha :redface:'. Oh well, they are only little once!

So quiet in here, but from the recent posts it sounds like we're mostly all busy enjoying being mums and getting ready for Christmas - which is great!
Taurean - love reading your posts recently, you are sounding so happy - i can almost see the smile through your words! Fantastic that Iz is sorted now with reflux etc, and sounds like she is eating up like a champ! 5.3kg is great I think, for a petite little bub like Izzy. You have to love all the baby noises huh, Tadhg has progressed now from 'coo - coo' to gurgly deep throat noises which is hilarious - i guess they find different noises they can make, its less irritating that the coughing stage he went through lol. Do you think you'll stick with breast and bottle for now, or still thinking about weaning? The swimming sounds fab - i think we will try the same in the new year, why pay for classes while they are just getting used to the water, noises and people - plenty of time for that later :) You've made me feel guilty about Xmas pressies though - I haven't got Tadhg anything (apart from very unexciting buggy sun and rain covers yesterday). We figured the grandparents would probably drown him in gifts anyway! ps. congrats on the house sale, i hope the house hunt is as easy and stress-free :)
Sanchez - I can't help you with the hair problem - but V is such a little cutie, with those beautiful big eyes and expressive face, even if she temporarily has less hair she still has oodles of personality (from a mum with a baldy!)
Kosi - glad to hear you're doing well and baking up a storm - good timing for Christmas. I was going to bake today - but somehow got lost in time on my laptop. Hmm maybe i have enough time to do both!
Pooley - wow sounds like a big week for you guys. I've heard thrush is a nasty one, and obviously not too easy to spot either. Hope the lil guy is feeling heaps better now. Have you got your amber necklace yet? I'm getting one for Christmas from my grandmother, and as much as i want to think they are a load of bollix - i do plan on using it, they look quite cute and if it helps with teething - all the better! Our health nurse swears by teething powder which has camomile in it too - as another option. I hope the teeth pop quickly if they are going to! Everytime i see a photo of F i want to give him a big cuddle, he is so kissable!
Nicola - hope the move has been good and you're feeling settled and a bit more Christmasy! Thats so cute that Indi put her own dummy back in, Tadhg has just started trying to do that but he keeps putting it backwards, and i'm not sure he realises he has to let it go at the end - hehe.
Art - enjoy your belated Xmas, no doubt it will be heaps of fun with the kids and grandparents around.
Sangie - so funny that both E and T had that really tough time sleeping and then just fell back into a good routine! Yay for us. I was really worried there for a while that i'd never get anything done in the day. Well done E on the rolling too. We had one spotaneous roll - but since then just lots of trying both ways, but generally the arms get in the way. Enjoying it while he is not moving, as i'm sure i'll regret encouraging movement shortly!
Us - Tadhg magically went back to good daytime sleeps, not great - as i still have to go in there and give him his dummy once or twice, and occassionally several times - but i guess he must be growing, as he is just tired all the time. We barely get past an hour awake most of the time before he wants to go back to bed. But all seems well, he is happy and healthy.
ps. Tadhg is 4 months old tomorrow! Yay

KellyNZ- We got our amber necklace on Xmas eve day. As of today, I and DH can tell the drooling is heaps better and because Frazer's neck is sooo fat we keep it on 24/7 even though they recommend you take it off while sleeping. There's no way he can choke on it. We only take it off for bath time and while swimming and that's it.
We decided to change his car seat over on xmas eve. I read the instructions and it said forward facing from 8 - 18kgs. Well, I haven't weighed him properly since 8 weeks but going from weighing myself then myself and him, I can guesstimate that he is around 9 kgs!!!! Fatty boomba latty!! So we changed it and I reckon after the xmas day travel we did he is far more comfortable sitting forward because he can see Dad and I, and look out the window. My big (little) boy is growing so fast. I cannot believe that in 2 days, a year ago, we found out I was gonna be a Mummy, re-reading this thread bought tears to my eyes.
I actually tested on the 28th but left it until the 31st Dec to post on BB until I was positive.

Pooley & Kelly - what is a amber necklace? I got the gist it is a teething thing and what the baby wears it?
Frazer is a big boy isn't he!? How are your arms coping? I can't wait to put V forward facing - am hoping it might end the screaming....have a little way to go though - she is only about 6.5kgs. I read your preg announcement - so wonderful. I scrolled through a lot of pages to see Taureans too. I tested myself on New Years day and got my BFP - what a way to start the year! I was so happy.
V is crying so i will fly......hope everyone has a lovely new years...can't imagine too many of us having blinders!
I just wanted to say that having you all in my computer has given me much comfort this year...I couldn't have found better people to share my pregnancy journey with.

Hi girls, I was just wondering if I could join your thread.
My name is Jess, and I have 3 babies.
Two boys, Jack 4.5years and Ben 2.5years, and Little Lahni who was born on the 18th of September.
I was induced on the Friday Morning, and 3 hours and 13 minutes later she was born, nice quick easy labour this time, pretty much pain free too but I did have the help of pethidene.
Lahni was diagnosed at 2 weeks with hip dysplasia and was put into a pavlik harness then and there, had ultrasound at 7.5 weeks later and was put into a different brace. She has her next ultrasound on the 6th of Jan, so hopefully she'll be brace free.
She is a really happy, content baby, sleeps all night (has since she was a month old) smiles, laughs and tries to have a chat to anyone that will listen :)

Congratulations on Lahni - and Jack and Ben.....sounds as if you have a nice family going there.
My Violet was in a Von Rosen Splint for her hips for 6 weeks so I know how you must be feeling....fingers crossed it will come off on the 6th.

Jess welcome to the group. Fingers crossed that the brace comes off soon! How have your boys adjusted to having a little sister?
Sanchez - its been so great having this group to turn to hasn't it, such a comfort chatting to others in the same boat!
Pooley - I'm glad the amber necklace is working so well for Frazer. Where did you get yours from? I never knew they existed when my DD was teething so I don't have one but I might try it with Ethan.
It was exactly a year ago today that I got my BFP with Ethan. Can't believe how fast that year has gone! I just saw some pg announcements for Sep next year and thought 'wow that was us a year ago!'.

Thanks for that Olive. We got the safety rundown from the nice man at Kidsafe WA when he checked our carseat. I hadn't thought about how a baby would be thrown around in an accident if they were facing forward too early. There is a very sad And frightening clip on You Tube too. Pooley, you might want to have a look and rethink your decision to turn Frazer around. I really didn't see the problem until We had our seat checked. I was quite shocked. We'll be keeping Izzy rear facing for as long as possible.

I appreciate the information but with Frazer being very large (now wearing size 0!) @ 9 kgs+ he appears much more content facing forward. He has had a strong neck since birth and doesn't slump or drop his head facing forward. He is well ahead of all his milestones for his age and just looks so uncomfortable lying in his carseat facing backwards even without the insert, which was taken out when he was 8 weeks old. I think he is an exception in this circumstance.
