Wooooo hoooooo Cass!!!!!!
Well Cass you've got a lot of reasons to be flashing that huge smile of yours! Yay! BTW I had a giggle when I read "unfortunately" you have to shop for more gorgeous newborn clothes - such a chore ! I'm sure you'll enjoy every onesie all over again :)
MP - you didn't really say how things are going with you. I hope things are improving steadily.
Oz you have been very busy, all that with a lil 6 month old too! I hear you on imagination plus...Missy E has been pretending to be the FDC lady and herds around imaginary children all day long LOL. I can't believe you have E eggs left...ours are all gone!
Ginger, I dreeeeeam of having a little caravan...though there's a lot of "admin" involved any time you want to take it out LOL. Can you buy one on site on the river and just leave it there? What a fabulous idea!!! Haha I can't drink alcohol like that any more either, sad hey? I'm dying to know what a coonarra is though...???
Big day out with both of the girls today visiting my mother who lives ages away but luckily they have a fantastic park (complete with giant purple dragon) just around the corner so the girls got to play off the long car ride. Also she has a gorgeous garden so Missy E was in her element exploring all the nooks and crannies - such a nice way to spend a glorious sunny autumn day!
ha ah you crack me up MD. it's a wood heater, you know, heats up the whole house for free! all you need is wood and we have plenty of that around here.
yes we want to buy an on-site van. i think caravan park culture is so cool. all the kids on bikes that ride down to your site for a pash :) or was that just my childhood experience? LOL
cass- congrats on your teeth. do they feel all slimey when you run your tongue over them? i remember mine did when i got them off way back in year 11 LOL
i really should go to bed but i'm just enjoying some kid free time iykwim?
i've been trying to decide which kinder to send L to next year. my choice is the local one up the road, which is a direct feeder to the primary school that the kids will definitely be going to...or there's a montessori one in the next suburb. i *think* the montessori one has both 3yos and 4yos in the same class rather than divided. this would be super handy when J turns 3 as it means they could both go together rather than going at different times. what do you guys think? do you think it would be unfair on J a bit as he deserves to have a bit of time without L there iykwim?
G, personally I would be sending him to the feeder kinder, that way he will have formed friendships with the kids he will be attending school with and wont have to start all over again like he will have to if he goes to the Montessori one, and then onto that particular school. Also I think it would be beneficial for J to be able to form friendships of his own without having L to 'lean on' kwim? I know P is doing that a bit with E at school and some of her friends are ones that she has made through E, so they are mostly E's friends, and it has made it hard for P to find friends on her own.
yep. that was my gut feeling too Trill.
i think i was just being selfish and wanting them both to go at the same time so i could have some alone time. i'm feeling super 'touched out' atm iykwim? they are both all over me all the time atm, i don't know what it is?
yeah i think i will go with that kindy. going to check them both out in the next month.
Well it is possible that by the time they are doing kinder next year that the way things are now will have passed and if it hasn't, there is always the option of getting J involved in something as well. He would probably miss not having L around on those days he is at kinder, so having something just for J would probably help.
Thanks again for the welcome girls! I felt like I was boring my new Dec 09 belly buddies (mostly first time Mums) with all my posts about DS1. Maybe DS2 only seems like a 'good baby' because DS1 takes up so much time and energy now?
Trillian - Congrats on the great assignment grade! I don't know how you do Uni and be a Mum. Does it get easier, do we just become more organised, or do we just not sweat the small stuff so much (or all of the above )? That's a shame about your Mum and her partner :( But totally awesome that a stranger complimented your kids and bought them paddle pops!
Ginger - Echuca sounds like a great spot. Save those photos of L for his 18th birthday! You know you've had a good day when they sleep like that. I highly recommend the caravan park holidays, we have an on-site caravan on the NSW South Coast and we love being able to holiday whenever we like without having to cart heaps of stuff around (it all stays at the van). It's great for the little kids as they have lots of friends to play with. Good luck with the Kinder decision. It's a shame you can't have them both go at the same time but be in different classes. Sounds like you could use the break
Cass - Glad the migraine has gone and congrats on getting your braces off! What's the first thing you went out and ate because it wouldn't get caught in your braces? Enjoy the newborn shopping again, there's so much nice girl's stuff.
Ozstar - Good luck with the new business! My 2 YO and 4 month old keep me so busy I can't imagine starting a business as well, you are my hero! DS1 counts to 20 sometimes without help but doesn't really know colours. I guess they're all different.
MD - Sounds like a great day with your Mum.
MP - :hello:
Arte - I'm afraid I'm guilty of too much TV and DVDs  Home corner sounds like a great idea. We've been trying to get out to playgroup, the zoo, storytime at the library and play at the local parks. But it's been on my to-do list to come up with some inside home activities for when it gets too cold to play outside. We have puzzles, lego, lots of Thomas the Tank Engine and tracks. DS1 isn't really interested in cooking but will help with chores (mopping, dusting, laundry etc.).
Hope I haven't missed anyone, still getting to know you all.
Now we have DS1's bedtime sorted and earlier, plus have him doing naptime again, I seem to have time to myself. So I've been catching up on all the housework so I only have to do a quick tidy up from now on. And now that we have DS1 sleeping, we can get back to TT. I'm still concerned that the biting won't have gone away, so we're off to play with the same kids on Friday and I will be shadowing him very closely.
Hi girls!
G: i *kinda* like the idea of the feeder kindy idea...i remember loving going to the same 'Big School' as the other kids when we moved up...but again, i am sure that L and J would make friends once they get to big school, but the feeder idea does seem to me to make the transition more natural IYKWIM.
and YES! my teeth felt slimy and looked MASSIVE lol! but now i am in the land of retainers...luckily they are clear things and i dont have to deal with a plate like i remember my cousin having to do...but still. condoms for the teeth basically lol.
Suz: ahhh nothing like sweet success with bedtime routines lol! is DH doing the routine instead, or are you getting him to bed before he gets home?
MD: ooohhh a purple dragon!! now that is where the coolness is! Leila would totally dig that. in fact, anything 'monster' ATM floats her boat...
AFM: we are pretty good here. leila is really getting into the spirit of TT. she now goes to kindy sans nappy. and has stayed dry...of course now i have jinxed myself LOL! only the poos are reluctant. but i am thinking of buying bigger and extra special stickers for those...cause the kid has a point: a wee is one thing a poo is a totally different and more time consuming matter deservant of extra specialness
oh, and we the answer to her night time dramas a few days ago...came down with a sore throat. husky lusky oh la la the last 2 days but has bounced back frightfully quick...the build up lasted longer :o
Just a quick one from me :( J passed away this morning. Mum was there with him and I think fate planned it this way because she didn't see him at all yesterday because she felt a bit sick, and only went over as early as she did today to make up for it. So I wont be around much for a few days while I help her through this.
I am sorry to hear this Sherie  will be thinking of you and your Mum and J xx
Will be thinking of you and your family Trill:hug::hug: I'm glad your mum was with him.
 Thinking of you and your family Trill. Funny how things happen like that, as if it was meant to be that way. I'm so glad your Mum got to be with J when he passed away.
Trill, I'm so sorry to hear J has passed, so relieved your Mum was able to be with him, what a blessing. Please know your whole family are in my thoughts. xxx
Trill, sorry to hear about J. I hope your mum and bro (and you of course) are alright.
MD, the home corner sounds like a good idea, but judging by the toy library kitchen/shopping trolley etc, it only has about an hour of novelty value and then would just sit there messy and unused. Yay for H being engaged and helpful.
Suz, yay for getting some time to yourself again - it really wears you down when they go to bed so late and your entire day is consumed with children.
Ginger, ikwym about kids always all over you. That is why I usually stay up late to post on BB - just no chance at all during the day. Does the kindy not do mixed classes? Our kindy here has 3 and 4 year olds in the same class. But then we are small town and there is actually only one class lmao.
W asked his first 'why' question today: "why do drinks make me need to do wee's?". Fantastic.
I guess I was looking for inside entertainment that meant I didn't have to do anything lol He does play with his blocks a lot atm. Bugs and Pixar Cars are long forgotten about. He is sooo like his dad in that respect - lives and breathes the current interest for a few weeks/months, then bores of it and dumps it for the next thing. I suspect the next big thing is space, he is very interested in how the earth turns for day and night and loves the stars and moon etc. Might have to get some books from the library about it.
hey everyone,
thanks for all the kind words..
W and solids - Hes not actually dropping weight just not putting any on so hes dropping percentiles.. im trying not to worry too much about it coz he is still a good size, hes going into size 1 at 8mths and is around 10kgs, he also moves around alot more too now its just hard when you see the dip on the chart i think..
as for me i am doing much better, i was lucky this time to find a medication that made changes very quickly which was definitely what i needed.. Stuff was really bad, the house was in a bad state and my marriage was on the edge so something really needed to be done.. i am slowly getting on top of things.. Dh and i are still up and down but much better, i think it will all just take time..
our house has also been the sick house for what feels like months so that doesnt help.. we just got over the flu and then gastro hit... well Billy and i didnt get completely over the flu before gastro hit actually!! so very stressful!
The dr also thinks William will end up with asthma because there is a link between bronchiolitis and asthma in kids and every time he gets a cold he gets it as well as theres a strong family history =( i feel kinda scared about that but im trying not to think about it too much because it doesnt generally show up till 15 - 18mths and hes only 8mths atm..
Trill - Biiiig hugs. my thoughts are with you, i hope your ok..
Arte - lol thats so cute, 'why do drinks make me need to do wees' hes so smart!! wow space thats cool!! the big hit here atm is toy story and i am soooo over it!! would love her to be interested/obsessed with something non tv related bit of a sign of my dodgy parenting there i think!! good idea about getting books etc from the library, you can get those school project kits sometimes from the newsagency too which would have heaps of cool pics and facts etc..
cassius - good to hear the TT is going well =)
suz - i agree with the 2nd baby seeming like an angel, we are always going on about how much of a good baby William is, i think it partly is that he is a more laid back bub, but its deffinately partly just that Asha is so full on he seems easy to deal with lol..
hello to everyone else =)
am going to try and look into some outside the home activities today.. i might not go today but just for next week or something.. Asha does alot, school two days and swimming one day, but William and i hardly leave the house and i think it would be nice if we could find something nice to do.. its hard because we are planning to move in july so i dont want to get too attached to anything thats hard to get to from where we move.. any ideas??
Hope everyone has a fab day =)
Hey everyone
Sherie – so sorry for your loss and thinking of you and your family. I also think these things happen time wise for a reason and I am glad your mum could be there with him.
Cass – wooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! Smile baby!
Noni – glad things are getting sorted, sounds like an awful time but good on you for recognising and dealing with it all. Are you and DH having some counselling?
MD – your day with your mum sounds great. Does she live near you?
Ginger – you made me look up Echuca – looks like fun… I’d love to go on a houseboat there. Did it take ages to get there? I have long drive with 2 kids phobia LOL!
Arte – w sounds so cute. N is also amazing me everyday with his vocab and understanding… we also planted some herbs and veg which he loves.. not an indoor activity but winter proof! N is starting to recognise letters… and he knows they are diff to numbers. Its amazing to see him out and about saying ‘look there’s an N for Noah’ ‘look there’s a G for girl’ – he is so delighted by the letters!!!we were in Country Road the other weekend and he went through all the letters on the signage – was great as I could try some tops on while he worked through them all.
we are all ok. well kinda - we all seem to be getting a cold... and J is sleeping not well. and i am juggling like mad with work and them both etc... so ok but stressed/tired/busy!
Sorry to hear of J's passing Trill. :(
MP wow go little N on the letter recognition thats awesome.
Noni things sounds stressful for you. Is A still going to kindy?
Arte does W like books? We have lots of books and L is usually happy to just sit and read stories to himself. We have to go in to his room every bed time and pry them all away from him (he sleeps with masses of them lol).
Cass L is reluctant when it comes to poo's too. He will wait till he has a nappy on for a sleep. Lol at the condom for teeth. How long did you have your braces on for?
Suz how did the biting go? Have you tried having a chat to him about it before you arrive? I know that before playdates here we have a chat about certain behaviours, not so much DS's but even the other kids. There is one little girl who is always snatching so we have a chat about it right before hand so he doesn't get so upset when it happens. We usually discuss it before we leave and then remind him before we get out of the car.
Not much happening here. DD is almost crawling now, she commando crawls everywhere. L just adores her (lets see if its the same once she can take his toys tho lol), if something he is doing makes her laugh he keeps on doing it. If she cries he sits me down and tries to lift up my shirt and says "give her milk", he is very cute with her.
I am feeling inspired to create a home corner now and am on the look out for bargains.
