Arte, I have had the kids say similar things to me too and yep, it stings alright!

MD,fingers crossed this is the breakthrough she needed.

G, Maybe get her something personalised. If she gets a lot of hand-me-downs she wouldn't really have anything that has always been hers kwim?

IKWYM about late dinners. SIL wanted to have everyone at their place for Christmas lunch - mind you she only decided this on Sunday because her parents are coming because they couldn't wrangle an invite to any of their friends houses. And she tells me that we'll be eating lunch at around 2PM!!!!! I felt like telling her there and then to shove her lunch up her bum. In my world Christmas lunch is eaten at lunch time and certainly never at afternoon tea time!!! So I gave MIL the heads up because Christmas lunch is always at their place and MIL told her in no uncertain terms that no, we will not be having lunch at your house LOL. It just ****s me because I know if I agreed to go to SIL's place the kids would be fed a vegemite sandwich ages before we ate and then BIL would treat them like second rate citizens and tell them to go away while the adults were eating like they always do when we eat at their place. So the kids and I are going to the IL's for lunch, DH is working dayshift and then the IL's are going to BIL and SIL's house for tea. BIL will be ****ed off because none of his family want to have Christmas lunch there, but SIL's parents are really painful people LOL. They are nice, but in small doses and are really fake and everything is 'darling' and they talk with plums in their throats LOL.

L had a birthday party to go to today at a friends place on a property about 1hr east of here and OMG the water I had to drive through to get there! There was still flooding in patches, but luckily it was only as deep as .4 of a metre so the car could handle it but it sure makes you appreciate the sheer volume of water they had out there! The property we went to still had crops entirely under water on part of their farm. Poor buggers, they can easily write off tens of thousands of dollars off their income.

I guess everyone has a busier social life than me!

MP, were you coming to NZ? What part are you going to this time?

The last gift arrived in the mail today and has been reposted to its recipient so we are all set for Christmas here. William is eagerly counting down the sleeps, so cute!

the weather here has turned to crap so i'm bored bored bored

trill- lunch at 2pm is madness to me. i don't know if i'm a pig or what, but i like luch no later than 1pm and dinner no later than 7 pm or i can't help myself and have to eat a sandwhich or something just to get by! LOL

arte- we are pretty much prepared. i'm so excited this year. L is making xmas so much better than it's ever been before by really getting into it iykwim?

i'm even thinking of making a xmas cake just to get into the spirit of things! L wants me to make the train one out of the WW cake book....hhmmmmm, we'll see! LOL

I'm around too Arte, returned to the jungle yesterday. What a day. Left at 4.30am, arrived home at 9.30pm. :o

MD- Lu asked Santa for a portable DVD player. We had one until she painted it with nail polish 6 moths ago. I told her we weren't buying a new one, so she asked santa. lmao. Given that it makes my life a hell of a lot easier on days like yesterday, i got her one.

Trill - I hate how christmas lunch is often late. Why the hell is it late just b/c it's christmas. 2pm is ridiculous. Sounds like it'd be a nightmare no matter what time luch was though! The floods are just so heartbreaking aren't they? First time in years some farmers were going to get a crop and now it's all washed away. Poor buggers.

My Nana was a 12 on the dot Christmas dinner lady. And she got the ****s big-time when people dropped by mid-day - if you knew Nana at all you knew to go before or after, but not to interrupt her Christmas lunch!

JM, you might have an idea of how much my life improved when we bought the car DVD players - the best thing I have ever got in my life! How is the sickness now?

Ginger, we are going to make some cookies for Santa on Christmas eve to leave out for him.

This is the coolest Christmas ever! Before now W didn't really get it iykwim, but this year he so excited about it all which makes it really fun. And I have got a secret present for DH. Something that he really wants but expensive and I told him that we couldn't afford it atm, but I secretly got it and now I can't wait until Christmas just to stop the lying! He keeps talking about it and I keep saying we can't get it lol, I am going to crack if he keeps mentioning it!

That's hilarious arte - I dobt think I coulee keep it a surprise!!
We leave for nz on Friday - going to Auckland and waiheke again.... Will be a great holiday... Hoping we get some ok weather
Noah was home w me today w really high temps ... Like 39.8 poor boy... He seems ok so hoping it was a 24 hr thing
Having a tough time again - one of dh best friends passed away... Was oseas so waiting for him to arrive home and the funeral will be wed... So all a bit emotional
It's been a tough few months - we really need a holiday!!
re any of your kids getting bikes for Xmas?? I am wondering are we up to bikes w training wheels yet?

MP, We don't need to buy any new bikes for a while but A can only ride one with training wheels for the time being. I'm so sorry to hear about your DH's friend :hug:

LOL JM, I like her thinking. L and E have portable DVD players and OMG they have saved my sanity many a time. Also awesome to take to the footy so if the weather is ****e they can stay in the car and be amused.

G you're not a pig. Lunchtime is lunchtime. It makes no sense to eat such a huge meal at a time of day when you don't normally eat a large meal.

We put the Christmas tree up today and as we were decorating it, A said that 'this is the best Christmas tree EVER!' :lol: he is sort of excited, but at the same time not really fussed ITMS. We can see santa in the shopping centre in Wagga, but he is a bit 'meh' about him.

I think our poor old dog is sick. She's had a limp front paw for a while now and often wont put weight on it. But then you can take her up to the sheep yards or out in the paddock and she's fine. She wont let Dh or I even touch it without snapping at us. DH tried to give her a shot of penicillin tonight but she just completely went off at him. I think it might just be arthritis because she's 11 years old in people years, so not a spring chicken anymore. I don't think a vet would be able to treat her either as she would just freak as soon as anyone tried to touch her.

Sherie: it's not a tick or a bur in her paw? when Stella had her torn ligament all pain was forgotten at the sight of a ball, so she's probably way good at hiding it when it suits lol! do you have a muzzle? we have to muzzle stella whenever we are at the vet....

AFM: well, like i mentioned we have been busy. had a xmas party that is only in fairytales!! it was so amazing. Leila's kindy teacher is also a caretake for one of the uni's properties that is a place for visiting fine art professors. it is in Ivanhoe along the boulevard for those that are melbourne locals. the recent renovations alone cost $5million :o. beautiful place, overlooking the yarra...and the walk in wardrobe lol! i didnt even know they had those in the 20s lol!
the christmas decorations were amazing! included an 8ft carousel and candy cane lighted paths. it was so lovely to see a whole bunch of kids exploring such an old massive yard like that (2 acres). and they were all exploring and finding bugs..ahhh so much fun! we got home at 9.30pm and leila crashed. bummer was though that Marta got a cold! so we were up all night with the poor thing. then at 6.30am i finally nodded off only to be woken by a mad flapping noise and the bedroom slowly filling with dust....a BIRD had falled down our bedroom chimney!!! so then spent the next half hour coaxing it out. was so distressing as the poor thing was really scared. but all was good and it flew away, then i gave up and went to the lounge and slept (and would you believe that the baby that was up every 5 minutes slept through the whole bird shennanigans!!!!).

jm- glad to hear you are back in the jungle safely. yes i am the cake making queen now ;) you gave me heaps of confidence thanks. lewis wants to know what we are making for birthdays next year? LOL we might attempt the train one on thursday.

Cass, thats a massive bummer about her getting a cold. Is she OK now though? The party sounded wonderful. I don't think it's a tick because its been like that for a while. It could be a grass seed though.

i *think* MD is in a mad dash getting xmas celebrations organised...her thread has inspired me to do baking as gifts for people...i made the most wicked shortbread nom nom nommmm.

Presents should be a surprise, I even used money from a different bank so he couldn't snap me by looking at internet banking. Although he was saying that he might go to the shop and get one today, so he might just end up with two lol. It is a bike, so that will be useful!

My BIL has been here since saturday. He was supposed to be doing our painting for us (paid) but it took until Tuesday for him to get started and he put in a solid effort from 2.30-4pm lol, 1.5 hours! There is about 3 weeks of solid work here, at that rate he would have still been here next Christmas. Luckily he has decided to go back home, saying that his eczema flare up is because of the different environment here. That is a load of bull, but I think everyone is happier this way. He has a head injury and associated sleep disorder. I try to make an allowance because of that, but people getting up at lunchtime and then clattering around and waking A just ****es me off! And he is stuck at the mental age of a very know it all 18 year old. Some of the crap that comes out of his mouth....DH and I just look at each other and change the topic. Apparently everything you learn at uni is wrong, all statistics are wrong, doctors don't know anything - he knows better. Drives me a bit mental. And he is hit and miss with W - sometimes plays and has fun, then the next minute he is dismissive and grumps at him. It was a relief when he said he was going.

My dog is panting and shaking so I am about to take her to the vets. She is 12 so I hope she is alright.

GRRRRRR. Went to the vets, was gone for 40 minutes. In the meantime BIL got up, broke into the sleepout (smashed the lock), then left leaving the house door wide open! So ****ed at him. Didn't even say goodbye to William. Sent him a text saying we would get a new lock out of the cash we owed him for the bit of work yesterday and that it was f***ing rude to break in and then leave the house wide open! Probably won't go down that well with the IL's, but far out, he could have waited a few minutes! What a ****.

Ginger, I got a second hand one. I think she perfect - her eyes are Hazel (A's middle name) and her clothes have cats all over them (A's favourite). I am looking forward to giving it to her. Thanks anyways.

Haven't heard back from BIL but he went crying to the IL's and I got blamed for making him go. FFS, all I did was insist that he wash the walls before he painted them, and said not to start painting our bedroom at 4pm. I am always the one that gets blamed for any disagreement in the family. They like me well enough when things are good but as soon as something goes wrong I am always at fault.
