MD the pizza's sounded delish! I hope it's not too hard on your when he goes away and crossing fingers that he doesn't get long deployments when his official time is up :hug:

Arte, I just cook tea as normal and then put DH's in the microwave for later if he's not home. I rarely phone him to see when he's coming home, unless it is was past the usual time I can expect him kwim? When he's on shift he usually comes straight home from work, but if he's really really late then I have called him on occasion just because it's out of the usual for him.

Md I didn't know you were vego.

Arte- if DH is late he is expected to call. Previously he work a lot on farm by himself and if he was late I'd worry he'd rolled a tractor or chopped something off! Now if he's late I think he's been held-up. So rules at our house are to always call. He didn't get it in the early days, so once I stayed back late at work and didn't call, he was beside himself when I got home, he's always called since.

i like to know around about what time he's going to be home. he usually calls me about 4.30pm to let me know what time he'll be home and to ask me if we need milk or anything. if i hadn't heard anything by about 6pm i would definitely be calling him. sometimes i just get bored and like to hear his voice LOL

yes if i was a single mum i think i would definitely be looking for a pert time job by now, just to break up the days a bit.

well KitKat and Leo seem to have bonded very well. after her initial hissing and wacking him over the head with her paw, she is now curled up on the couch snuggling with him. L calls her 'mummy cat' now....awwww

so how was everyone's Sunday? mine was ok, went and for breakfast and then ended up in kmart buying Diego, Cars and Thomas t-shirts LOL

Mine was long. Very long. But I let the kids stay up late until DH got home so I didn't have to get them to bed by myself.

William left the top off his slug house and several adventurous souls made a run for it. Turns out that slugs can travel about half a metre on carpet before they dry out. Now there is a radius of desiccated slugs on the carpet, with the exception of one determined fellow who made it all the way to the other side of the room but then was trapped at the skirting boards and met with the same fate as his dried out colleagues.

Also, did you know that slugs have a penis that comes out of their head??? Completely unexpected! I didn't tell W what they were up to lol

i always call if he is late.

G: our sunday was AWESOME! (word of the day lol). we had our midwives spring picnic so i got to catch up with our midwives and meet all the other families and it was so so so much fun and awesome to meet them all. had a ball!! :dance:
then i visited our neighbour in the late afternoon and DH turned up on the doorstep with spag bog ready to go so we all had an impromptu dinner together...love it!

that is so cute about KK and L...get a photo! soon she might even be 'mummying' him....our cats sometimes groom eachother and it is so cute.

We were housebound most of the day - it rained all day and didn't ease till nearly 5pm. I made some gorgeous chocolate freckle cookies though - chocolate cookies with melted chocolate and 100's and 1000's on top. I took a pic of them but can't upload because I can't find the camera cord.

Trill those cookies sound delicious, I have been trying to do more baking with L though now Z wants to help too lol.

Arte I like DH to call if he is going to be late. Thats so ewwww about the slugs lol.

G the cat's sound so cute. I want a pet but think we might go with fish for now lol.

We had a great weekend. I did two jobs on Saturday and spent yesterday at the beach. I tried to do our Christmas photo in the afternoon but my kids would not co-operate lol. I have newborn twin boys next weekend and am so excited and nervous. I better go and get ready for playgroup.... Have a lovely day

Arte - DH is really bad at calling when he is going to be late. I am about to make a big deal of it with him as K spends the whole evening thinking that the garage door is opening and he is coming home only to get a very sad look on her face (and constantly asking where he is). He does call if he will be too late for bedtime, but I want to know if he will be later than 6. He was very good for a while after he got freaked out when I was caught late at work one night (before K) and he was very good with being home at a certain time when I was on mat leave, but he has slacked off a bit lately. So if you're worried about sounding controlling, just blame it on the kids and say they're always asking where he is.

Arte - I think we also got off very lightly with TT. K does not poo on toilets that aren't in her house or at school (maybe twice). We have also had minimal accidents out and about, usually just a little bit of damp undies rather than a whole flood. My niece (who was down on the weekend) is having a shocker though, I swear they went through 10 pairs of undies on Saturday. She doesn't have any accidents at school, just at home.

We had a good weekend - my sis, BIL and niece came down. The littlies had an awesome time at the beach and we didn't have too many fights. K lost her shoe in the bay yesterday and DH had to wade in to get it which created a lot of excitement from them. I didn't cope very well though with K getting up at 5:45 each morning though ready to play (especially when she was still awake at 9 each night). Yesterday she slept for 2.5 hours and just crashed at nighttime.

Unfortuantely still crazy at work, so better get back to it.

cally- imagining your dh wading out to get the shoe cracked me up!

we're heading into the city to see the myer xmas windows tomorrow. looking forward to seeing the kids' faces :)

The rest of my weekend was pretty quiet, I mostly worked on my new blog project (three guesses Cass what it's about :lol:).

BTW I had the last of the pizza for lunch today - so so so good!

i love you MD. it is fantastic and i am so proud of you...and you may laugh about it being her loss to not meet you, but it's true, you're amazing xx

Sos orry i have been absent again - havinga rough time here, dh has pneumonia and has been in hospital since saturday - i am hoping he comes home tioday... though a long road to recovery and needs lots of rest...
this all on top of the back stuff - poor guy has had a rough trot of it
i am so thankful my family has been able to help and a lovely couople of friends who have dropped in food etc. i am so lucky...

Good to see others expect to be called when the DH's are running late. I don't think it is controlling but DH does. I don't actually care what he is doing I just need to know what to do about tea.

AFM: all good here! am enjoying the sunshine this afternoon. watching the grass grow while both girls have a nap. Marta got her vaccinations done today. poor wee poppet. i really disliked them ringing big bells in her face after they jabbed her. apparently it's to distract them from what has happened...but honest, i think it's better she knows just what happened and lets me calmly tell her it's ok rather than do this scary jingle bells on crack dance in front of her. all i wanted to do was pop her on the boob and get on with it. then i got the spiel about our decision to not have the rotavirus. i guess they gotta do it, but it is still a tad frustrating.

mp- nice to hear from you. wishing your dh a speedy recovery.

cass- i have never had them ring bells at the vaccs! last time i went they blew some bubbles which the boys kinda liked but ringing bells sounds ridiculous to me.

xmas windows were lovely but boys weren't too impressed by santa. melb girls they have a little xmas train in the basement at myer that was awesome

Gosh, our doctor must be behind the times, we just have a lolly jar after vaccinations. Ringing bells in their face would just freak them out more wouldn't it?

MP - I hope your DH is on the mend. You must be so pleased you are in Melbourne now with some more family around.

Cass - I am a massive fan of stirfry's because they are so quick and easy

Arte - I think a lot of men just don't really get the whole thing about dinner and planning. It's got nothing to do with being controlling, it's about being considerate of your wife who has been home all day with two small children (who don't sleep!!) and would like to have an idea of when to turn the oven on!

Cass, you'd think that the ringing of the bells like that would just create a trigger for being upset like that. Kinda like Pavlov's dog. Being on the boob while they do it is a much nicer way to get them through it.

G, Our myer doesn't do the windows :( Mum always used to take us to see them when we'd have Christmas at her sister's place. I loved them and wish ours would do it too.

we did the xmas windows today as well! we also got some pics done with santa. it was a family affair that i was totally unprepared for and i felt and look fat and gross. beh.

i like the idea of bubbles after the vax...soo much more calming..

cass- did L go on the little train? so cute
we didn't get any photos at all, the kids just wouldn't co-operate. oh well, maybe next year LOL

trill- oh i wish your Myer did them too...have you had any sign of locusts? i wanted to ask you as well, the big playground that you got last year- do the kids get much use out of it? where did you end up getting it from?

i've gone the hard line with TT and he only wears undies all day now, even when we got out. yesterday he weed himself but today in the middle of safeway shopping with a full trolley he says to me 'i need to do wees!' yah! he's learning!!!! so off to the toilet we went :)

We do have locusts G, we've got the chemical to spray them, but they aren't thick enough to form bands. They aren't doing any damage as yet, so we can tolerate them. The crops will hopefully be all stripped by the end of next week and after that I don't care much about what they do LOL.

We're getting mixed results with the TTing. I took her to the toilet this morning at new FDC lady's place cos she flat out refused to use the toilet last week, and she was good all day. Relaxed and let it all out when we got home though :rolleyes:

OMG yes MD!!! It was certainly one of the best eps I reckon. Although I wish DH wasn't watching with me because he nearly wet himself when she was telling Nicko on the phone that she didn't want to be the big bus anymore and he asked me what that meant and in hindsight I don't think I should have told him ROFL. And I watched Raising Hope as well and far out that's a good show. Very clever writing.

just went to a lovely birthday party with the boys but unfortunately it was at a playground next to a lake so i spent 90% of the time holding J as i was completely paranoid as he is a sneaky little escape artist. now my back is killing me :(

Yesterday was pet day at kindy and W took his pet slugs and snail. Easiest pets ever!! W and his friend collided last night and W had an instant massive egg on his head and his face is all grazed up but he was alright.

Cass, the Wed night funnies usually repeat on Thurs night on ABC2 or you should be able to see them on iview. I think the vaccs hurt more when you get a really strong immune response....might mean you've had a recent exposure or your immune system was already right across it, kwim?

Ginger, I'm always paranoid next to lakes and ponds too. Or the parks/playgrounds that have that line of fencing to lull you into a false sense of security but the kids can just go to the end of the fence LOL.

Well I've just changed my work days and I've now got Fridays off YAY! I'm still working same number of hours but it's so nice to get to Thurs and the working week is over. Having my hair and brows done tomorrow...yannow, gotta be looking tidy in case those Oprah cameras roll up to my front door :rofl:.

Warning whinge ahead: I am over being sick. I spewed in the gutter between myer and melb central today. Not pretty. I think 4 kids is off the cards, it's just too hard. I can't do this again, maybe I'm soft, but I'm over it!

i told you the other day we were originally going to have 3 but have changed our minds to 2 now. i this parenting gig think is a lot harder than anticipated!

:hugs: JM, sorry to hear you're doing it tough with the MS. Have you tried the Ginger+B6 cure? The WCH here did a study and found that it helps right across all MS severities.

Ginger, I didn't realise you were originally pitching for 3? Never say never though, my GF who's eldest is the same age as my DD1 is now pg with her 4th...bigger gaps for 3 and 4 than 1 and 2. I guess though, you need to feel like you have 'capacity'. I know for certain I don't have 'capacity' for more than one littley at once. But I did need to get past Missy E's babyhood/weaning in order for that prolactin-cluckiness to die down :lol:

JM, don't rule out ever having 4. Maybe give yourself a bigger gap between this bub and the next. I know I couldn't have had the 4 of them all so close either. And you've had a hell of a lot on your plate health-wise with this bub too so it's no wonder you are feeling so craptastic :hug:

G, the girls were like that - I had to watch them like a hawk if we were anywhere near water and it always made my day out very stressful while everyone else just seemed to be enjoying themselves. Thankfully A isn't as bad, otherwise it would make water skiing this summer a nightmare.

i'm another water worrier. but i still have vivid memories of when i was 2 and tried to go swimming in the neighbours pool all by myself...
