why don't we meet at the playground down the road at 11am and then move on up to the pub for a 12pm lunch?
sitting at the pub for an hour with no food sounds like hell to me
i wish i could join you girls!!!!! but i def cant take next wed off - so much on at work at the moment (i dont think all of you who wish you were working would swap me right now...)
next time!!!
will bbl for more.. miss you all xxx
11am at the park sounds good. i'm guessing it's like an easy park to find....
MP: big hugs babe  sounds like you are being worked too hard. i  that you get some respite soon...a holiday is well in order xx
mp- wish you could come!
cass- the park is on the left hand side of the main st- further along than the pub. i think it's called mackenzie park but i'll get back to you on that one :)
can anyone recommend me a good little kiddie type pool that i could put out on the deck for splashing around in on hot days?
just found poor leo in the (fake) microwave in the kids' kitchen. he wasn't in there for long luckily.
weather here is absolutely crazy. just had to drive up to the shops and had to put my car lights on to see through the think fog! we've been getting our septic tank pumped out this morning so the smell around here is not too pretty...
MP, will it all settle down for you over Christmas? Does your work close down for a while?
G, MIL brought years ago this inflatable pool that was probably 2 x 1 mts and only a foot deep if you filled it right up. It was really good. She brought it for herself to sit in during summer LOL.
lol i'm having images of your MIL sitting in a baby pool ;)
that sounds like what i'm looking for....i'm just not sure what to get cos there seems to be millions of them around and a huge price difference too so i'm a bit confused
LOL, not images I want to have either. She just got if from BigW for $50
sounds good, i might have to head over there tomorrow morning. i seem to always walk out of big w with a stack of diego and buzz lightyear crap that i definitely don't need or want though LOL
Check out BigW online - they have two pools - one like I said and another round one, both well under $50, but if the ad comes up on the homepage for the remote control Buzz Lightyear, just close your eyes till it passes
I think I'll leave S at home with Dh and just bring L. Then J won't have to be scared fur his life!!! ;) park is fine.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NO!!!! bring S too
going to check out big w online now thanks trill :)
eta- are the ones with the hard sides better or the soft blow up sides?
all i can say is: birth pool. strong as mate
Hiya everyone! How is everyone (besides excited about the get together that most of us aren't coming to :().
Friday!!! yayayayayay! I have spent half the morning outside with a can of spray taking care of the spiders that shouldn't even have been there if DH had done the job right last year when I asked him to.... It's redback central out there. I'm going to be cracking my whip this weekend, I'm sick of the yard looking 'povvo' just because DH never tidies up after his gardening efforts. Like he'll mow the lawn, but then he leaves clumps of chopped grass all over the paths. Poor man isn't going to know what's hit him .
Is anyone else getting in the summery-christmas-is-coming kind of mood? We've got carols by candlelight tonight at DD1's school, should be nice, fulfil the carol itch before the Christmas rush begins LOL. I haven't even thought about christmas shopping yet. I can remember the frenzy I was in this time last year, to get everything sorted before I had my op. Can't believe that's nearly a year ago already!!!
Ginger, we just have one of those clam things. One half is the sand pit and the other half gets dragged off for the wadey pool. Although we'll be allowed to use SPRINKLERS again in 4 more sleeps!
OMG i have to get a sprinkler - Noah will LOVE it!
Yeah, nothing better than running under the sprinkler in your undies on a hot summer day just after your Nanna has told you not to
YAY for sprinklers! the aussie dream yippeeeee! Leila will go off like a frog in a sock when we get that cranking!
we have totally started our christmas shopping!
got some cool stocking fillers today: leila is getting some funky animal soaps, probably some matchbox cars etc.
and the big one: A CUBBY HOUSE!! with verandah and flowerboxes the whole works lol!
MD: it would be way amazing if you could be there on wednesday
Cass, the cubby house sounds adorable, I know L is gonna love it!! Ours is getting heaps more use since DH moved it the other weekend, it must be superior feng shui in the new spot.
Oh yes, I had a little dream about driving to the airport and jumping on a plane for the day...however sadly our finances are totally up the fooffer right now, it would be a stretch to pay for the long day parking let alone anything else . ah well, a girl can dream can't she?
awww i really wish you could come MD....it would be lovely
i think i'm going to order the pool you suggested from big w trill, and get it delivered. it's a $7 delivery fee but i'm sure i would go through much more than $7 in junk just trying to get out of the shop! LOL i saw the buzz lightyear pop up too and i think i might suggest that as a present idea for MIL as she has been asking what to get L.
cass- which cubby house are you getting?
L has been asking for a Handy Manny toolset for xmas, but i just get so annoyed at how junky and expensive some of these 'name brand' type items are iykwim? like i think he would get much more value for money if we got him just a generic tool box rather than a charachter one. so annoying.
i'm having a major sand pit battle with dh. he hates all the sand getting dragged through the house.........
LOL G, $7 would be a sound investment indeed. I use bigw online too because it beats the hell out of driving to Wagga for the day. IKWYM about the junky branded toys. Years ago when L was only 3 she brought this bob the builder tool bench and tools and OMG the bench itself was crap with a capital C. The tools were good but the bench was the dodgiest, most poorly designed toy I have ever seen. And she paid nearly $70 for the flipping thing. So from then on we've largely steered clear of merchandised toys unless they are really good quality. E got a barbie laptop spelling thing from Mum 2 years ago now and it's been great. you just have to pick over them iwth a fine toothed comb to find the quality stuff. The only ones that are without doubt the best around is the wooden thomas stuff.
With the sandpit, just get in the habit of making the boys brush themselves off before they come inside, unless they are actually carting handfuls of the stuff indoors LOL
G, point him in the direction of the vacuum cleaner lol. Can you get a normal tool box and then stick a few Handy Manny stickers on it? I don't really like to get the character brands and luckily W doesn't seem to notice if it is brand or not (yet!!), if I tell him it is then it is.
We have done most of the Xmas shopping already. We get paid monthly, so the next pay isn't until a couple of days before Xmas and there is no way I am going to town then! W is getting a bike, a body board, a fishing rod and a bean bag. A is getting a little keyboard, a plastic trike and a bean bag too. DH is making her a little wooden oven. I will get her a doll if I can find one that isn't freaky looking - wtf is up with the giant eyes on the dolls now?? I might pick up a couple of other things but really they don't need it and I was trying to pick things that I won't be constantly picking up off the floor.
X-factor finally screened last night. Happy that Altyian won, he is a very talented man but seems a bit....weird in personality and he forgets the words to every second song lol Sally was probably a more consistent good performer. I think she will get some sort of contract though won't she? I am sure that Guy was second the year that he was in Idol?
I am sitting here procrastinating, I am doing an assignment but I am down to the last couple of questions that I skipped because I couldn't be bothered with them. Not due for a couple of weeks but my weekends are booked pretty solidly for the next while - boating tomorrow, away next weekend (beach and zoo), then xmas parade and DH's work kid's xmas party the following weekend. Somehow W has absorbed all sorts of info about Christmas/santa - he promises to be good all year so Santa will bring him a red bike lol
Arte, a tip with the dollies - at this age getting a soft-bodied one is nice, so they are more 'cuddley'. I have my reservations about Altiyan too - more with the consistency factor - I think he will need more support around him to succeed in the industry and as far as I can tell it's not an industry that's known for its supportiveness. No Guy won outright, Shannon Noll came 2nd that year, but others from that round like Paulini have also been able to make careers for themselves - just not international superstars. I soooo think INXS should get Altiyan on board, permanently.
MD, I am really after a Cabbage Patch Doll, for my own satisfaction really. But there aren't any in the entire country!!
You need to shake down Ginger's (?) friend with the toy contacts. Plenty of time to mail over.
Arte, can you find an online place that ships to NZ?
We have an inflatable pool we got when L was a baby that is still going strong. It has a shade canopy too and all 4 of us kinda sorta fit in lol.
Arte I seen Myer had Cabage Patch dolls advertised but I am not sure if they are the ones you want. I am going to go and check them out, I will let you know how I go. I am happy to post one over to you.
We are getting the kids a shell pool for a sandpit, we want to be able to keep the neighbours cats out of it. L is obsessed with digging with his Tonkas. I am pretty much done with Christmas shopping. I cant wait for Christmas this year. We are driving down to Sydney again and will be taking the kids to the Zoo while we are there. We are staying for New Years too as my mum is going to watch the kids woo hooo.
The kids were playing in the sprinkler this morning, if I didnt have a job coming I would have joined them. I need to go and get ready, I have another job this afternoon- its one of the BB girls and her family.
I have already asked Ginger to harass her brother for me. Oz, can you let me know if they are the proper kids and not the newborn surprise at Myer. I don't know why they are so hard to get - the kids of the 80's have children of our own, they should be cashing in on the nostalgia factor.
I spent the afternoon being a waitress at a wedding as a fundraiser for Toy Library. It was actually quite fun! Nice to do something not kid orientated. And it was the wedding of the year for the area too - the parents are well known in the community.
i'll check up on the cbk situation again next week but it's not looking good.....
cass and jm- the park in yarra glen is called mckenzie park....but the weather is not looking good for wed so we might be better off just going straight to the pub....
quiet night at home here, kids are so bored (i am too) with this crappy weather. we haven't left the house all day (except to vote) boring!
oh see despite the crap weather we decided to have a BBQ party  so funny! the kids loved it though as they just got naked and ran about in the grass throwing wet dirt at eachother while us adults ate all the meat and salad...and lebanese sweets mmmmmmmmmm.
Arte: hmmmm i have seen the CPK but not the full sized ones for awhile...have you tried ebay??
i reckon the shell pool is a sound investment. we have used ours for almost 4 years now (i'll admit that i originally purchased it for our 'furbaby' stella lol). i like that when it is a sandpit you can throw the top over and stop the cats from using it as a public urinal lol.
G: i was going to second Arte's idea about buying tools and including a big hanny manny sticker pack or the like....
MD: :( it is high time that we all win lotto and do a big sept 07 meet up. i swear our group is the best! i always assumed that all baby buddies groups were this awesome...but they are so not!
AFM: well we are facing a day of boredom, it's raining (still) and now it's a wee bit cool. yesterday we voted...but it seems that the tide is turning toward a liberal victory and the greens didnt even factor a mention this time. bah. then on the way we stopped at a local auction on a block of land that i have been dreaming about owning for a couple of years. it has the most glorious uniterrupted city views, but the block is almost a cliff so a wee bit tricky...that didnt stop it selling for $1.5 million!!!!!!!! no house, nothing. just the land and it aint big (500sqm). bah. a nice young family bought it so :crossfingers: that it wont be a big development thingy. i was eavesdropping and they did mention they wanted to live there...yeah, so do i
Cass, I'm always amazed by the way a Fed election can take the heat out of state election and vice-versa. People have such short memories, i'm pretty sure the vast masses don't really know about the levels of govt and how that affects their lives. Lordy, 1.5 million. I need to get out more.
Oz, yay, your business seems to be thriving. You should join the BB market place.
Arte, sounds like you're in for a really busy month. Us, not so, it's just me tap tap tapping away here until the 14th Dec whereupon I might fall into a deep depression for 6 weeks. Although I have discovered a very little interesting deep corner of the internet which is quietly leaking ultimate australian adventure info, gonna keep that one to myself for a while. You know, just in case i need to make some scary stalker plans
Cass 1.5? Is that all, I will write you a cheque
MD you will have to make sure your camera ready each day while O is here, they might track you down and do a surprise visit.
Arte from memory last time Myer advertised them she said they were 2 inches smaller then the old ones or something? I know they aren't those newborn surprise ones though. I will go and check them out this week.
Well I have had a brain fart and cant remember anything else sorry. Been a big weekend so I am off to bed.
I got a Cabbage Patch Doll! I stopped being such a buy-it-new snob and got a nice second hand one. She looks a bit grubby but I think she will clean up alright. And she has woolen hair.
Yesterday we went up to the lake and when we got there DH found our cat in the boat! Poor love was terrified! She was alright, but I am relieved that she stayed put and didn't jump out any of the times we stopped.
I have cracked it with A's overly frequent waking and I have decided to cut night feeds. Went sort of alright last night, she didn't grizzle for long but she did wake up and wriggle around the bed/pull my hair for two hours in the middle of the night when I didn't feed her back to sleep.
arte: but it is a start! it will take a bit of time, but i reckon it is worth it. friends of mine in MG are doing it ATM and resorted at one point to pillows over their heads lol!
oh and mum used to throw my CPK in the washing machine for a spruce up lol!
poor kitty kat! i too am suprised that she didnt just take off...mine sooo would have...
Cass, how are things going with you? Have you adjusted to life with two?
Oh, my life is crazy (mainly work) so just a quick one.
MD - I've read some of your blog and I also had a few little tears at F.
Arte - good luck with cutting out night feeds. Your poor pusscat, must have been terrified!
Melb girls - have fun on Wednesday!
Pool - we have a little blow up one that is very successful. When it is not being used as a pool, it is the roof of her cubby (over the top of some chairs)
MP - how is your DH going? Hope work quiets down soon.
Well I had Friday off and hit the shops in Canberra. Christmas is pretty much ready to go except for DH. Complete lack of ideas for him and then he has a birthday 5 days later! Maybe some small stocking fillers to go for DD, need to pull her stocking out and see how much space is left. Christmas tree is going up this weekend.
DD fell out of bed twice on the weekend. Including once where she got stuck between the bed and the wall. She hasn't done it for over a year at home, hope she wasn't too freaked out by it and doesn't want to go back to Granny's.
hi girls
arte- your poor kitty :( what did you end up doing? did you still take the boat out? our local water spot has filled up with all the rain we've been having. it sat at 13% full for ages but is now at 70%. dh reckons i wouldn't recognise it now, it's like a completely different lake. can't wait to get out there this summer!
jm and cass- what is the weather looking like for wed?
cass- the park is called mckenzies reserve and is a bit further past the pub on the left hand side. 1.5 million for land is pretty crazy. prices have gone up so much recently in melb i reckon. good for us!!!
went to doncaster shopping centre this morning and it was soooo busy! xmas makes people crazy LOL
hi girls!
Cally: ust be the time of year...MP is also super work busy! hopefully it all settles down for you all over chrissy! wtg on getting all the presents out of the way  i *think* i am pretty close to done. nothing major this year. still watching the $$ (pity...i do love a good shopping session lol). but what to get DH???
sheesh! 2 falls! she must be getting in some good dreaming lol.
Arte: well without jinxing myself the transition to 2 has been awesomely uneventful lol! Marta has really just fit in well, and Leila is loving her to bits. they are already quite entertained with eachother, although i do need to watch Leila a little bit as her cuddles can be total toddler-love and poor marta gets a bit crushed lol.
what you guys getting your DHs/DPs???? arghh! i cannot decide.
G: apparently thunderstorms around midday. so we might be all good for park at 11am and escape to shelter for 12!!! i am looking on the bright side and thinking positive lol! unless it is totally pouring we'll head to the park i guess. otherwise pub it is! i am hoping that i will be able to recognise you all...ok, i'll be honest, i'll totally recognise the kids lol! so if some strange lady starts following your children: it's me looking for ya'll
ok sounds good. you'll be able to pick lewis a mile away i reckon! my kids are quite distinctive looking long haired little louts!
Ginger, we put the cat in the back of the stationwagon with the parcel tray pulled over her, cracked the windows a bit, gave her some water and parked her in the shade. It wasn't super hot like it gets over there. Then I didn't want to risk opening the back again so we left her in there on the way home (we didn't have a box anyway). Luckily? she was hit by a car and got a bit brain-damaged when she was young - it doesn't usually make a difference but when she is stressed she seems to just blank out. That's cool your lake is full now, must be looking nice and lush around your way.
Cass, that is good that the transition has been good. I didn't find it too bad, although I could have done without the toddler tantrums. W never really payed much attention to A until recently when she started walking (and taking his stuff lol)
I am not getting DH anything for xmas - he just got himself an ipod and I think that will do him. BTW, those things are cool! There is a waterslide game that W plays - he is such a kid of the new millenium, "dad, where is your ipod?"
MD and Trill, how long does it take for vasectomy recovery? I have heard that they can go in Thursday arvo and be back at work Monday? DH says he wil but I don't see any action on it. Especially since he was horrified to find out that the local doc does it - he thought it was a full anesthetic stay-at-hospital deal.
