Arte, can you find an online place that ships to NZ?
We have an inflatable pool we got when L was a baby that is still going strong. It has a shade canopy too and all 4 of us kinda sorta fit in lol.
Arte I seen Myer had Cabage Patch dolls advertised but I am not sure if they are the ones you want. I am going to go and check them out, I will let you know how I go. I am happy to post one over to you.
We are getting the kids a shell pool for a sandpit, we want to be able to keep the neighbours cats out of it. L is obsessed with digging with his Tonkas. I am pretty much done with Christmas shopping. I cant wait for Christmas this year. We are driving down to Sydney again and will be taking the kids to the Zoo while we are there. We are staying for New Years too as my mum is going to watch the kids woo hooo.
The kids were playing in the sprinkler this morning, if I didnt have a job coming I would have joined them. I need to go and get ready, I have another job this afternoon- its one of the BB girls and her family.
I have already asked Ginger to harass her brother for me. Oz, can you let me know if they are the proper kids and not the newborn surprise at Myer. I don't know why they are so hard to get - the kids of the 80's have children of our own, they should be cashing in on the nostalgia factor.
I spent the afternoon being a waitress at a wedding as a fundraiser for Toy Library. It was actually quite fun! Nice to do something not kid orientated. And it was the wedding of the year for the area too - the parents are well known in the community.
i'll check up on the cbk situation again next week but it's not looking good.....
cass and jm- the park in yarra glen is called mckenzie park....but the weather is not looking good for wed so we might be better off just going straight to the pub....
quiet night at home here, kids are so bored (i am too) with this crappy weather. we haven't left the house all day (except to vote) boring!
oh see despite the crap weather we decided to have a BBQ party  so funny! the kids loved it though as they just got naked and ran about in the grass throwing wet dirt at eachother while us adults ate all the meat and salad...and lebanese sweets mmmmmmmmmm.
Arte: hmmmm i have seen the CPK but not the full sized ones for awhile...have you tried ebay??
i reckon the shell pool is a sound investment. we have used ours for almost 4 years now (i'll admit that i originally purchased it for our 'furbaby' stella lol). i like that when it is a sandpit you can throw the top over and stop the cats from using it as a public urinal lol.
G: i was going to second Arte's idea about buying tools and including a big hanny manny sticker pack or the like....
MD: :( it is high time that we all win lotto and do a big sept 07 meet up. i swear our group is the best! i always assumed that all baby buddies groups were this awesome...but they are so not!
AFM: well we are facing a day of boredom, it's raining (still) and now it's a wee bit cool. yesterday we voted...but it seems that the tide is turning toward a liberal victory and the greens didnt even factor a mention this time. bah. then on the way we stopped at a local auction on a block of land that i have been dreaming about owning for a couple of years. it has the most glorious uniterrupted city views, but the block is almost a cliff so a wee bit tricky...that didnt stop it selling for $1.5 million!!!!!!!! no house, nothing. just the land and it aint big (500sqm). bah. a nice young family bought it so :crossfingers: that it wont be a big development thingy. i was eavesdropping and they did mention they wanted to live there...yeah, so do i
Cass, I'm always amazed by the way a Fed election can take the heat out of state election and vice-versa. People have such short memories, i'm pretty sure the vast masses don't really know about the levels of govt and how that affects their lives. Lordy, 1.5 million. I need to get out more.
Oz, yay, your business seems to be thriving. You should join the BB market place.
Arte, sounds like you're in for a really busy month. Us, not so, it's just me tap tap tapping away here until the 14th Dec whereupon I might fall into a deep depression for 6 weeks. Although I have discovered a very little interesting deep corner of the internet which is quietly leaking ultimate australian adventure info, gonna keep that one to myself for a while. You know, just in case i need to make some scary stalker plans
Cass 1.5? Is that all, I will write you a cheque
MD you will have to make sure your camera ready each day while O is here, they might track you down and do a surprise visit.
Arte from memory last time Myer advertised them she said they were 2 inches smaller then the old ones or something? I know they aren't those newborn surprise ones though. I will go and check them out this week.
Well I have had a brain fart and cant remember anything else sorry. Been a big weekend so I am off to bed.
I got a Cabbage Patch Doll! I stopped being such a buy-it-new snob and got a nice second hand one. She looks a bit grubby but I think she will clean up alright. And she has woolen hair.
Yesterday we went up to the lake and when we got there DH found our cat in the boat! Poor love was terrified! She was alright, but I am relieved that she stayed put and didn't jump out any of the times we stopped.
I have cracked it with A's overly frequent waking and I have decided to cut night feeds. Went sort of alright last night, she didn't grizzle for long but she did wake up and wriggle around the bed/pull my hair for two hours in the middle of the night when I didn't feed her back to sleep.
arte: but it is a start! it will take a bit of time, but i reckon it is worth it. friends of mine in MG are doing it ATM and resorted at one point to pillows over their heads lol!
oh and mum used to throw my CPK in the washing machine for a spruce up lol!
poor kitty kat! i too am suprised that she didnt just take off...mine sooo would have...
Cass, how are things going with you? Have you adjusted to life with two?
Oh, my life is crazy (mainly work) so just a quick one.
MD - I've read some of your blog and I also had a few little tears at F.
Arte - good luck with cutting out night feeds. Your poor pusscat, must have been terrified!
Melb girls - have fun on Wednesday!
Pool - we have a little blow up one that is very successful. When it is not being used as a pool, it is the roof of her cubby (over the top of some chairs)
MP - how is your DH going? Hope work quiets down soon.
Well I had Friday off and hit the shops in Canberra. Christmas is pretty much ready to go except for DH. Complete lack of ideas for him and then he has a birthday 5 days later! Maybe some small stocking fillers to go for DD, need to pull her stocking out and see how much space is left. Christmas tree is going up this weekend.
DD fell out of bed twice on the weekend. Including once where she got stuck between the bed and the wall. She hasn't done it for over a year at home, hope she wasn't too freaked out by it and doesn't want to go back to Granny's.
hi girls
arte- your poor kitty :( what did you end up doing? did you still take the boat out? our local water spot has filled up with all the rain we've been having. it sat at 13% full for ages but is now at 70%. dh reckons i wouldn't recognise it now, it's like a completely different lake. can't wait to get out there this summer!
jm and cass- what is the weather looking like for wed?
cass- the park is called mckenzies reserve and is a bit further past the pub on the left hand side. 1.5 million for land is pretty crazy. prices have gone up so much recently in melb i reckon. good for us!!!
went to doncaster shopping centre this morning and it was soooo busy! xmas makes people crazy LOL
hi girls!
Cally: ust be the time of year...MP is also super work busy! hopefully it all settles down for you all over chrissy! wtg on getting all the presents out of the way  i *think* i am pretty close to done. nothing major this year. still watching the $$ (pity...i do love a good shopping session lol). but what to get DH???
sheesh! 2 falls! she must be getting in some good dreaming lol.
Arte: well without jinxing myself the transition to 2 has been awesomely uneventful lol! Marta has really just fit in well, and Leila is loving her to bits. they are already quite entertained with eachother, although i do need to watch Leila a little bit as her cuddles can be total toddler-love and poor marta gets a bit crushed lol.
what you guys getting your DHs/DPs???? arghh! i cannot decide.
G: apparently thunderstorms around midday. so we might be all good for park at 11am and escape to shelter for 12!!! i am looking on the bright side and thinking positive lol! unless it is totally pouring we'll head to the park i guess. otherwise pub it is! i am hoping that i will be able to recognise you all...ok, i'll be honest, i'll totally recognise the kids lol! so if some strange lady starts following your children: it's me looking for ya'll
ok sounds good. you'll be able to pick lewis a mile away i reckon! my kids are quite distinctive looking long haired little louts!
Ginger, we put the cat in the back of the stationwagon with the parcel tray pulled over her, cracked the windows a bit, gave her some water and parked her in the shade. It wasn't super hot like it gets over there. Then I didn't want to risk opening the back again so we left her in there on the way home (we didn't have a box anyway). Luckily? she was hit by a car and got a bit brain-damaged when she was young - it doesn't usually make a difference but when she is stressed she seems to just blank out. That's cool your lake is full now, must be looking nice and lush around your way.
Cass, that is good that the transition has been good. I didn't find it too bad, although I could have done without the toddler tantrums. W never really payed much attention to A until recently when she started walking (and taking his stuff lol)
I am not getting DH anything for xmas - he just got himself an ipod and I think that will do him. BTW, those things are cool! There is a waterslide game that W plays - he is such a kid of the new millenium, "dad, where is your ipod?"
MD and Trill, how long does it take for vasectomy recovery? I have heard that they can go in Thursday arvo and be back at work Monday? DH says he wil but I don't see any action on it. Especially since he was horrified to find out that the local doc does it - he thought it was a full anesthetic stay-at-hospital deal.
Arte, DH has his done on Fri and back at work by Mon. They routinely did GAs where he had his done, but I laughed at him so much he insisted on getting it done with a local. In Dr's rooms. That's how they were all done for a long time. Your DH could ask about sedation (as alternative to GA) if he's really freaked out by the idea.
Hi Cally! Will you get a break over Christmas/new year from work?
Arte, if his work isn't physical, then only having that much time off would be OK. It really depends on the method that they use as to whether they need a GA or just a local. DH had the full kit and kaboodle and day stay, but I know of others who've had it done in the Dr's surgery with a local and out in an hour. But even though the initial soreness etc might only take 4-5 days to go, DH could still feel localised soreness for a month afterwards if he managed to bump it, and hilariously there was even one time he rolled over in bed and caught them between his legs and boy he yelped! That said though, it really isn't that big a deal in the scheme of things. Oh and you can just put the doll in the washing machine. I wash the girls' CPKs with a wool mix and on a gentle wool wash and they come out fine. If she has long hair though, just put a hairband in it to keep it all together.
Well we finally got the boys a bed!!!!! We went with the matrix bunk from snooze Snooze - MATRIX we will keep it in the traditional bunk configuration, but as you can see, the lower bed isn't attached so we can move it out from under the bunk if we want to. Plus we just went with the a plain charcoal instead of two colours. It will be easier to match other furniture that way. Only trouble is because they are made to order, we may not get it till the end of Feb, but I'm hoping that with Christmas people wont be too focused on buying beds so there wont be a backlog of orders and we get it a bit earlier. We spent the day traipsing around all the bedding shops and it was the best quality by far. Even the ones straight off the slow boat from China were still around the $1000 mark and we got that bunk and a top quality innerspring pillowtop mattress for $1500 and it's really sturdy.
