Good morning all.
I think I've worked out what's been up with Hannah lately. She appears to have a cold (green snot...vomiting everywhere...the whole works - poor kid). No wonder she's been out of sorts. I think I can now relate to what you went through Shannon, when little Jessalyn had her cold - it's scary when their little noses are all blocked up and they can't breathe or feed properly. I've been using the "Fess, little noses" saline drops, and it seems to do the trick.
Just wondering if anyone else's bubs are losing their hair? Hannah is losing the hair around her forehead, and currently has a widow's peak...it looks pretty funny!
I have my uni exam on Thursday (contract law). I was pressuring myself to try to sit it, and get all the readings done, but I decided yesterday that I would apply for a special exam and sit it in November to take the pressure off. Hopefully things will have settled by then, and I'll be on top of things. I feel so much better having made the decision. It's so much more important for me to be completely here for Hannah while she's so little. My ambitious streak seems to have mellowed a little with motherhood. I'd rather be a good mum than an honours student.
Hmmmm...what nappies are you using Megan? I'm using Huggies disposables. I haven't had any probs with them aside from the occasional poo down her leg (lol - lovely!). On the bright side - he must be getting enough in the other end to be weeing so much! I'm with you re: motherhood being the hardest job I've ever had to do! But they're so worth it.
Hey Belinda - I would think that if Mason's poos are still soft, it shouldn't matter that he's only going every second day? Just my opinion...but maybe his digestive system is just more mature than most, and he's absorbing most of the nutrients from his food, resulting in less dirty nappies? I would imagine if he were constipated he'd be straining and in pain? Dunno....
Thanks Angel. I hope Kynan's reflux improves...it really can be quite distressing when they're feeding like that. Let's hope it's just a brief stage they're going through.
-
Hey girls, thought I would just pop in to see how you are all doing... it can be very tough thte first 6weeks or so...
Belinda, are you breastfeeding? Because if you are it is not uncommon for breastfed babies to poo once a week, and only have wet napopies in between. But if you are bottlefeeding bub needs to poo once a day.
Megan, it sounds like you are using cloth nappies?? When I had Alecia in cloth nappies (many years ago :) ) I used to use a toweling nappy ans then fold up a flannel nappie in a reclangle and line the toweling nappy with it... very bulky, but it absorbs more.
Juliette, glad to hear that you are going a bit better :) . Good luck for your exam.... bluh! :)
I hope you are all doing well :)

hi girls just crashing to give some info to megan - sorry
megan both my ds jay and dd lani have both been heavy wetters from birth. i use huggies and i still have leakage problems.
for finlay - make sure his doodle is pointing down for a start, if it is to the side well yup it will leak out.
what i did (and still do for lani now at night only) is put on the huggies make sure you seperate the leak guards on the nappy and they are sitting up iykwim then pop the nappy on then i use like pilchers - i get them at coles they have velcro on them and it put them over the nappy and helps to protect any leaks, also make sure you don't tuck a singlet in the nappy or anything us it will leak right up.
it is so annoying i remember ds as a newborn i first thought he was sweating but then realised it was wee lmao he went through so many changes during the night it wasn't funny.
good luck

Hey everyone
Well after Mason ended up back with pellet like poo last night decided to change the formula, have tried everything with the other formula to no avail so hopefully this works.
In relation to nappies, if you are using disposables and they are leaking overnight, try using another disposable over the top of the other one, then in the morning if they outer one isnt wet just use it for the next change. Sounds strange i know but a friend of mine used to do it for her daughter and got me doing it with Luke and it does work. She reasoned that when she was using cloth she doubled it at night so thought she could do the same with disposables. Also some ppl put absorbent pad in nappy to catch the extra as well, havent tried that myself though.
Othewise not being up too much, got a sleep in today cause hubby is home due to rain again.
Well anyway take care
Belinda
-
Thanks girls for all of the tips! I am using Huggies and they are gapping around his legs. I have started to pull them in tighter - but still leakage! His penis is always facing down these days (I learnt the hard way early on....LOL!!)
I like the idea of 2 nappies - perhaps we will try that over night...
Juliette - best, best of luck with your exam - god you are brave! I am aiming to go back to uni to finish my MBA next year. I couldn't even think of doing it now!
Hope that everyone else is getting some sleep......I am hoping for a little more tonight with the double nappy suggestion! Thanks Belinda!
Megan
-
Hey again
Hope it works for you Megan, i do remember Luke was bigger when i tried it so used snugglers doubled up, but should work the same for huggies i would guess.
Well changed his formula this afternoon to Nan and after 2 bottles he had a normal dirty nappy again, so hoping it stays that way. Really annoyed that i had to waste a full can of the Karicare though, but if he is happy i guess thats the main thing.
I still keep thinking i cant believe this parenting thing can be so good compared to my first experience, its really hard to get used too if anyone gets what i mean. I keep thinking something has to go wrong to wreck it all but it hasnt yet and probally wont just my mind overworking i think.
Well enough of my late night ramblings:)
Take care

hi everyone! Thought I would also come and join the troops over here in the "not getting much sleep" department. :)
Zac has been quite good for us. Neither of us have any idea what this is supposed to be like so when he has a 30 minute crying fest we sort of think he's sooky or theres something wrong but I've read thats quite normal and that things can be a whole lot worse. Reassuring. :) MIL was telling me about a friend of hers who had a baby boy who cried nearly 24/7 and she would go and walk with the baby while her friend slept. That really puts Zac's little sooks into perpective.
He's a great burper but sometimes has trouble getting the last bit out so he'll sook for a bit then get it up. Usually feeds 3-4 hourly which is nice because he's starting to find a routine. His necks so strong that if hes laid on someones shoulder hell pop his head up so he can see around - cheeky bugger. Makes burp time fun though coz he doesnt want to relax and put his head down he wont...stubborn like his father. :)
Megan, I've had the same problem with Zac wetting through his nappies and they're disposables too. At first I thought I was doing something wrong like not changing enough but if he goes down dry, sleeps for 3 hours and wakes up wet through, what more could you really have done? Not much. So I went with the nappy liners and they do absorb more (not as much leakage) but still some sometimes. I found that even after a three hour sleep the leakage was always just on the side he was sleeping on (makes sense) so i put his little willie slightly to the other side when I changed his nappy and this seems to have fixed the problems all round. There no leakage on the other side when he sleeps on that side or on his back or anything - so far so good. I found that when he would suprise me and wee while changing his nappy it always went to the left and thats the side where the leakage was so now his willie is to the right a little and we dont have any problems yet. Maybe his pressure was too much on one side and this has evened it out - I don't really know but there just some other things to try in addition to the extra nappy.
Sorry for going on so much - it's good to finally get in here and see what everyone else is going through. Nice to know you're not alone in what you're experiencing. :)
Hope you're all doing okay and getting some sleep. Funny how quickly we go from sending labour vibes to sleep vibes. One minute we all want it out, now we alll just want to get some sleep. ;) But babies are so wonderful - it's worth it. :)
Cheers everyone. :)

Awww Shannon - so sorry to hear about Jessalyn - please keep us posted with the results...thinking of you both!
I tried the nappy liner last night and they worked like a treat! I was given some at my baby shower and wasn't sure if I would use them - they are a god send!! No more nightly changes of clothes or bed sheets!!
Life is getting better here. DH has gone back to work and I feel more normal now that he isn't here?? Isn't that strange - I thought that I would be a mess LOL!
The waking in the night is hard as it is sooo cold. We have an old QLDer with polished floorboards, so it is freezing...
How is everyone else?
Welcome Shimona!
Bugger about the whole tin of formula Belinda.....good news about the poo though! :)
Have a good day everyone...

Hi all
Got a chance to pop in while Erykah is sleeping. I managed to catch up on sleep last night she slept from 10pm to 3am. Bless her then she slept until 6am and then until 9am. So I got 9 1/2 hours of broken sleep.
She took some settling this morning but I guess I can't complain as she slept so well during the night. I have managed to do a bit of house work and been out for a walk with her.
I have the headache from hell that I am unable to shift at the moment. Not sure if it is from dehydration as we have the heating on 24/7 and we are not used to having a warm bedroom. Will make sure I drink plenty of water.
Went to the CMH nurse yesterday and Erykah has put on 260g in 2 wks. She only has 80g to go to get back to her birth weight.
Erykah is still jaundice from the trauma of being born by Forceps. The nurse is not worried about it though as she is coming on well.
Shannon - Sorry to hear about Jessalyn and hope that all goes well for you both.

Hey girls!
Hannah and I graduate to the one month forum today! I can't believe it's been a month already! I will keep checking up on you all....and look forward to seeing you there soon!
Shannon....sorry to hear your news...I replied in the other forum, but I'm not very good with words...hugs and kisses to Jessalyn and you, from Hannah and I.
Jo - hope your headache clears up soon...make sure you drink lots of water. I find I am really thirsty all the time with breastfeeding. Gotta keep up the fluids!
Yay for the nappy liners Megan! You should be able to get more sleep without having all those clothes and sheet changes. Glad to hear life is getting better! Same here. I felt exactly the same when Tim went back to work. I think it was more relaxed having more space to myself, and time just for me and Hannah to get to know each other. I imagine it's the same for you and little Finlay.
Welcome Shimona! See you soon in the next thread! Good to hear little Zac is a good burper. That seems to be a handy talent for a newborn to have!
Catchya 'round!

Hey everyone
Hope everyone is doing ok, is still going really well here.
Mason has put himself on a diet now, have told him he doesnt have a weight problem but he doesnt believe me lol!
Was draining bottle after bottle overnight and now wont finish them, which means not enough fluid and he will get blocked up again, cant win really!
He is having a massive sleep tonight, so dont know if he will sleep real well later.
Cant believe in 2 days he will be a month old, gone so quick really.
Juliette: Congrats on graduating over to the next thread, will see you there soon:)
Shannon: Hope all turns out ok for the next lot of tests.
Also glad you mentioned babylove nappies were crap i was looking at them the other day at shops.
Sounds like Brielle and Luke could be a cute couple of parents lol :)
Megan: Glad you found something that worked out for you in relation to the leaks.
Also on the head control thing, Mason is the same, and yes they are very hard to burp when they are fighting to throw themselves back. And thanks for the info that these strong babies could be mobile early Shannon, aaaaahhhhhhh, like knowing where they are when i leave them for as long as possible thanks:)
Well anyway
Take care
Belinda

Shannon - mmmm sleep - what's that??
I just learnt something from your last post! A growth spurt happens at 3 weeks! Perhaps that is why Finlay appears to be feeding more often?
Megan

Hi everyone,
I have finally got rid of the headache. It helped I got another good nights sleep last night. Erykah fed at 22:30 then again at 2am then not until 6:30 she then slept till 11 which allowed me to do some housework.
We have been out for a walk now that I no longer get pain from my stiches. She seems to like the pram which is good.
I am not looking forward to the growth spurt in wks 3 and 6 or 12 for that matter. I feel I am feeding her constantly during the day. 3 feeds so far today since 11am now 14:20.
I am using huggies nappies and find so far that they have not leaked.
Anyway best get on before Erykah wakes up
Jo
-
Well that could explain it then Shannon about him feeding great then tapering off again, thanks:)
Well nappies are back to normal it seems with new formula, but am thinking i didnt miss them at all over the last couple of weeks!
I am still seriously considering having another one, thought it was all just happy hormones after i had Mason, but the feeling is still there. Plus i have always felt bad that Luke was always by himself growing up, he is so social and gets so lonely on his own. But i have to consider an age gap, cant have it too big because of hubby being older than me, dont want him not to be able to keep up with a broad of kids lol. Havent told hubby my thoughts on this yet either lol, he might say no way.
Otherwise all is going well, Mason is pretty much sleeping 11 hours with a feed in the middle at 2am that hubby does, and didnt wake me up till 8am this morning so cant complain about that.
Also meant to say thanks Shannon on bringing up the 4 wks versus 1 month, i was looking at calender yesterday and thinking how come it didnt work out for a month tommorow, DOH lol, keep telling ppl he is a month tommorow but he isnt.
Well thats all from me
Take care

Woo Hoo Brooke! Great to see you here! Can't wait to catch up properly on how you are going. I have had trouble bfeeding too - but we seem to be gettng better every day...
Write when you can - can't wait to here all about the birth! How are you feeling after it?

Hi all
Well we have had a good day.
Yesterday I started correcting something we started which was we were cuddling Erykah to sleep but realised through a book I am reading and also my mum that she should be able to settle herself to sleep.
Thing is we hate hearing her cry. I am slowly getting used to the it but we were not really letting her cry before this and so she didn't really have a voice.
Anyway I got her to sleep yesterday at 6pm she slept till 10pm then was asleep by 11pm after a feed. She woke at 3.15am for a feed then took a while to settle near 5am. She then slept until 10:30am and even then I had to wake her. She then went down at 11:30 until 2pm.
She is getting quicker at settling herself she has just managed it in 5 mins.
She has not been feeding as often today unlike yesterday but my god my nipples are like drips. Drive me mad leaking and squirting all over the place. No one warns you about it. Feel like a cow sometimes with enough milk for Victoria! hehe.
Anyway I am going to get going as there is a programme on UKTV I want to watch so hope all have an relatively easy night
Love
Jo

Welcome Brooke :) Sounds like you have a good support system going there, it certainly helps when you do.
Shannon, poor you having to be out of the house at that hour! Hope all goes well for the tests:)
Had a pretty good day today, took Luke and Mason to the library, didnt realise how cold it was today though, the wind was like ice! But the library was nice and warm, Mason slept the whole time so that was good. Was going to walk to shop from library but ditched idea as it was just too cold. I was rushing to get Mason into car and out of cold and Luke said he is dressed in a warmer outfit than you mum, and i thought your probally right lol.
Otherwise all is still going great, really have to break the habit of him sleeping in my arms too, but not ready yet, making 6 wks the deadline, will see how i go with sticking to it though:)
Take care

Hi all
Erykah has mastered self settling and I have noticed she seems to sleep longer when she does self settle. I do still cuddle her for a short while after breastfeeding but not until she falls asleep.
I found during the night feeds if I cuddled her to sleep then put her in the bassinet she would wake quite quickly and need settling again making me more tired.
I have joined a nappy recycle service today and am well impressed with it. I get a bin which is collected fortnightly and then I can recycle nappies, contents, baby wipes, nappy bags, cotton wool to name a few. Makes me feel better about the environment anyway. All for $9.60 a fortnight.
Well it is a lovely day so once Erykah wakes I will take her for a long stroll in the pram. It is no doubt cold out there but the sun is out.
Shannon - how is Jess's Jaundice? Erykah's does not seem to be clearing yet even though she feeds and wets nappies regular. They do say lay them in a sunny window with little on but here in Melbourne surely its too cold even with the ducted heating on. I do sit her in a sunny window when she is sleeping but she has clothes and blankets on the only part showing is her face.

Hey everyone
Shannon: Poor little thing having to go through the blood tests:( Hope all else goes well.
Jo: Great that you have your baby settling well and have found it suits you, can understand tiredness and an unsettled baby dont mix well :)
I agree with you Shannon on the cuddling to sleep, i must admit we done the same with Luke and he is a great sleeper, i would rather take ten minutes cuddling him than listening to him cry for ages. Have worked out one thing though that he needs to settle, he needs to grip my fingers, so put a teddy tail in my fingers place and it seemed to work when i put him down in bassinet earlier, didnt wake back up.
New formula seems to be working fine, another stinky nappy to deal with today, but like i said i really didnt miss them at all!
Went to Mooloolaba this morning with Luke and Mason and what a beutiful day it is, had breakfast across from the beach and went for a walk, the ocean was beautiful today, reminds me of why i moved here:) Live 5 min drive from there and i really should get in there more often.
Otherwise thinking i will be having a few bourbons later, been wanting one for a few days now
Have a good weekend everyone
Take care

Welcome Stormi and Makenzie :)
Welcome Brooke and Maya :)
Jo - I'd also love the details on the recycling service if possible?
Shirmona - just letting you know that I have added your details straight to the one month thread.
-
Hey everyone
Graduation day for us today as well, see you over in the next thread soon:)
-
Hi all,
Well thinks have been going pretty well with Makenzie - until last night. She's been a pretty good baby, she doesn't cry that much and when she does it's mosty because she's hungry and settles really well after that.
Anyway, last night she had a feed - my boob was pretty full (she only feeds one side per feed normally) and she had a big feed, then DH gave her a bath. I then dried her and dressed her and sat down at the computer with her and she did THE biggest projectile vomit. We were both soaked, I swear half a cup of milk came up. I spoke to my friend who is a midwife and she said it was probably the bath as you are not meant to bath them after a feed, you should do it before, as bathing afterwards tends to make them vomit for some reason. So I calmed down after this.
Then this morning, about ten minutes ago, she was back in her bassinet after having a feed at about 5.45am. She was awake, just laying there happily checking things out, then I hear this noise and turn around and she's projectile vomited again - I know it was projectile because it ended up halfway down the end of the bassinet, near her legs. The weird thing is she had a feed between these two feeds and she was fine. Both times she's been sick it's after having fed on my left side.
So anyway, now I'm stressing out as I'm worried about what would happen if she vomits in her sleep (as she sleeps on her back) and also if maybe it's reflux. My first baby had reflux, he didn't projectile though, but that was bad enough.
Other than that, things are going well. Her cord stump thing fell off yesterday and my 6 year old was really excited that she now had a real belly button. I'm still not used to having a girl. At least I've stopped calling her "he" and "him". 6 year old watched her have her nappy changed a couple of days ago and asked where her willy was lol.
Hope everyone's well and not too sleep deprived.
-
Brooke - Hang in there, it will get easier. My first was a shocker of a baby and I never thought I'd get through those first few weeks but I did (and survived and had more kids LOL). Broken sleep or sleep deprivation certainly takes it's toll. I think that is the hardest part - you can deal with the crying and unsettledness IF you aren't too tired. Just have a cry whenever you feel like it - don't feel you have to be "brave" and hide your emotions or not ask for help. Biggest mistake I made with my first baby - not asking for help because I'd be seen as a "failure". How stupid was I.
Riley has tongue tie (as does DH). Riley never had to be treated for it because his tongue isn't too bad, he can poke it out a bit. Fixing it is pretty easy, they just snip the frenulum.
I've found I've been really emotional lately, and it's usually stupid things that set me off. Like yesterday, we were going out, and I was last to try and get ready - so had my shower and was trying to find clothes that fit me and stressing over how huge and floppy my belly was still. We were meant to be leaving at 11.30am and of course it was 11.45am and I still hadn't dried my hair and then DH was just standing there and I just blurted out "I'm going as fast as I can" and burst into tears and he was like "why are you so upset?". It's not like he was telling me to hurry up or anything. Then he dropped Cooper to school this morning and came home and said he'd had a minor accident in the car and I of course started crying.
Anyway, better go, DH will be back with Macca's soon.
-
Brooke big *HUGS* to you.
Really hope you get some sleep soon.
I would feed on demand it might help you a bit more.
-
Hi all,
Brooke - maybe Maya and Makenzie swapped last night, as I had a bad night with her lol. Glad you got some sleep though, makes a huge difference.
As for demand feeding - in hospital I was told to not to let her go more than 3-4 hours in the day without a feed and 5 hours at night. But she had mild jaundice and was sleepy and not waking for feeds, so they told me to make sure I wake her.
When I had Riley, he used to sleep a few hours at night - like at least 6 hours, often more, from day one. I was worried about this but the home midwife told me not to wake them at night for feeds. As long as they have had at LEAST 6 feeds in 24 hours, then it's fine. So if you are feeding them every couple of hours in the day, and they've had their minimum 6 feeds, then it's okay for them to go longer, so I was told. That said, I normally don't let Makenzie go much past 4 hours or so, but if she slept more in the night I doubt I'd wake up to feed her lol. She's been feeding every 2.5 hours or so yesterday (including last night) - not sure if she's having a growth spurt.
She hasn't vomited again since the previous morning. DH took Riley to the doctors yesterday so he asked my GP about it and she said just to keep an eye on it to see if it keeps happening. She said if she's settled and not crying and stuff it's probably nothing - could be something I ate or she overstuffed herself etc.
So how is everyones belly looking? DH actually told me I could go and have a tummy tuck!!! I was stressing because my belly is still pretty big but over the caesar wound there is like serious overhang! I'm thinking if it's like that now, when my belly shrinks more I'm gonna have this overhang down to my knees lol. My uterus always takes longer to shrink back to size than most peoples so hopefully that's why my belly is still rather big (or perhaps it's all that chocolate). I want to start walking for exercise but it's been raining since I came home from hospital so that makes it a bit hard. I'm still wearing maternity pants (and daggy track pants lol).
-
Glad i'm not the only one in daggy tracky pants. Can't fit into much yet
Jo
-
I have no idea how much weight I have lost. I only got weighed twice during my pg, towards the end. I go more on how clothes fit (or don't fit lol).
I'm so tired. A friend was supposed to come and visit this arvo but her daughter is home sick today so she postponed. Riley goes to preschool this arvo, so I will feed Miss M and have a nap after lunch while the house is quiet and DH only has Miss M to attend to.
Has anyone else got one of those Snug as a Bug wrap things? I was looking at them online somewhere then DH's aunty got us one. They are like thick polar fleece and they have a hood and leg/feet bits, and the middle bit wraps around them and has velcro to fasten it, so it's similar to being wrapped in a bunny rug but has the leg bit so they can actually go into a pram etc with it and the harness will go around them.
Better get back to tidying up so everythings done when it gets to my nap time lol
-
Hello Everyone
Brooke - sorry to hear that you are having a hard time at the moment. I found the first 2 weeks really challenging as well and find the lack of sleep really stressful! I am expressing at times also, but bought an electric pump that works really well. Which pump are you using?
Great news about the weight loss! I have 3 kilos to loose....
Lisa - glad to hear that you are recovering well - I still have a little belly and I am really frustrated about it!! As I can't exercise like I would like to yet - I think it will be hanging around for a little while yet...
Must dash - little Finlay is yelling for his mum!
Megan
-
Kate - we haven't used the Snug As A Bug yet - we only got it on Sunday and it's been raining here every day - I'm so hanging to go for a walk! It looks pretty good though.
Brooke - Kenzie fits pretty well into 000 bonds wondersuits with sleeves turned up once. She has all these other cute outfits, some 0000 but mostly 000, that are HUGE! Some of the 0000 outfits are as big as 00 clothes!
As for the boys, DH has been looking after them mostly. I've been able to do a bit more in the last couple of days though. I'm sure we'll get into our routine soon enough though.
I have to get a breast pump. The lactation consultant at hospital recommended Avent brand ones (manual). Most people recommend those, I think after those they say Medela is good too. They are so expensive though! About $100 for the Avent one. I bet if I buy one I'll end up using it once only.
Anyway, better go have some dinner
-
hey guys - i thought i should quickly poke my head into the new thread. I keep visiting june and july and dont feel as if i have graduated to newborn thread but here goes.
My milk came in yesterday and my rocks became boulders- holy moly i didnt know that they could get any bigger than pre birth i was C and went to E now im F or G!! They are twice the size of Hendrix's head.
Hendrix is wearing 0000 bonds suits with sleeves rolled up once. I only have two of these though as people told me that they wouldnt fit into them and that they would be 000, but these are massive on him, poor little man.
I have a medula harmony manual breast pump and it seems to work well (ive only used it to express a little so that hendrix can latch on, otherwise they are too big for his little mouth.
anyway gotta go catch some z's
p.s brooke you are posting for kate when the bub comes arent you??
-
How often is Maya waking through the night (after how many hours approx??) and is she sleeping longer or is these patterns the same as from birth??
My boobs reck - they look all lumpy and gross too, hope they settle down soon as poor Hendrix is slightly overpowered at the moment by gigantor bb's
-
hey guys have just put up some pics of Hendrix from the birthing centre, twelve hours young, will add some more recent on soon
-
Geez, you girls whinging about your boob size again lol. Well mine didn't get any bigger when my milk came in - I think they might have at the start but I think they are pretty much the same now as through pregnancy. I could do with a bit more up top.
I slept so much yesterday. Dh was going out today and wasn't sure for how long and I knew I wouldn't get a nap today so made sure I slept heaps yesterday. I think I slept too much though, feel a bit groggy today.
Makenzie is still being a pretty good baby. She hasn't vomited again so I hope it was just a one off thing. I rang the baby clinic today to make an appointment but they weren't answering so the receptionist or whoever it was said they'd get them to ring me back. Not that I normally go to the baby clinic much but I want to see how much weight she has gained. In hospital on day 4 she'd lost more than 10% bodyweight already and they were worried about that but the next day they weighed her she had gained 90g in one day lol.
I rang the vascular dude this morning about my leg - he said if the clot was going to move or get worse it does it in the first week to 10 days, and it's the same as before so he's not worried about it. It will take a few weeks for it to clear up though - I don't need more scans but I have to wear my compression stockings 24/7 and keep taking the aspirin for a few weeks and try and keep active (ie walking). So that's not too bad, at least it's not painful anymore.
Should go and tidy up I suppose. DH has gone to do the grocery shopping. I have big piles of mess on my desk and elsewhere. Have to make sure I keep on top of it, doesn't take long for it to get out of control otherwise lol.

Hi all
I have finally surfaced for the day (or whats left of it). Erykah was awake from 6pm till 4am. I was unable to settle her. When she did fall asleep if I put her down on her back in her bassinet she instantly woke throwing her arms and legs in the air. Quite distressed.
There were times when no matter what I did she was crying. I think it is colic and am giving her infants friend.
This was the worst night so far with her as until now she has been an angel. I hate seeing them in pain and unable to do anything for her.
She slept till 9 then I fed and winded her and got her back down by 10am. Then I woke her at 2 for a feed mainly as my huge breasts (I am also a G cup!) were hurting from her feedin so much yesterday and not feeding for 4/5 hours.
I hope we have a better night tonight. For her sake aswell as mine. Poor thing its awful to have her in such pain.
I am glad for this website as all my family support are back in the UK. Mum does call me daily but it is hard for her to help out when she is sooo far away.
Luckily DH helps me loads. He woke at 3am and tried to settle her for me. I felt awful as he has to be up for work and the planned early night went out the window when she wouldn't settle.
I was meant to be going out today but I cancelled need rest.
Anyway she is stirring so best go see to her.
Anyone got any useful tips for dealing with Colic? Or is there a better alternative to Infants Friend. Any advice greatly appreciated
Jo
[-o< for a good night tonight

LOL at you girls and your bib BB`s, they do settle down eventually until your little ones decide to have a 9 hour sleep then they are great big boulders leaking everywhere.
Jo - sorry I can`t help out with the questions on colic, Matthew has a little bit of reflux which thankfully doesn`t seem to worry him. Hope you have a better night tonight. Have you tried feeding Erykah in bed at night, I started this when Matthew got the flu at 12 days and wouldn`t settle and I was exhausted, I ended up lying in bed feeding him and it settled him, a couple of times I was so exhausted I fell asleep with him still feeding, now when he wakes at night I still bring him into bed to feed but as soon as he is finished I pop him straight back into his cradle for the night, I also think he`s starting to put 2 and 2 together and realise we only do this at night so hopefully he`ll eventually sleep right through. I have had 3 nine hour sleeps at night but majority are 4 - 5 hours.
I`ve had a look at your baby`s websites and I have to say all your babies are beautiful.
Have a good night girls.
Take Care

hi Girls - I am to move on from this thread today - but may hang around a few days longer...
I have a Meduela (sp?) electric breast pump that I bought through Mothers Direct - it is fantastic and I have started to freeze breast milk already as I have loads of it! My boobs are still leaking and massive, so I'm not sure when this slows down?? :-s
Finlay is a really good baby and has 1 unsettled period per day and it is usually in the early morning. He sleeps well after a feed and I feed him every 3-4 hours. He is now wearing 000 - but is nearly too big for them as he is 4.5kilos now!!! He has outgrown his 0000...
Glad to hear that you are all doing well. I hope that the lactation consultant appointment is useful Brooke - I found mine fantastic as I had a few inital problems bfeeding. Please let us know how you go...
Heather - Hendrix is gorgeous! More photos please! How did you find the birth? Are you still sore?
I am getting up twice in the night to feed - I am really craving 4 hours sleep in a row...hopefully this will be soon!
Hello Jo!! :)
Hello Lisa!! :)
Better fly - loads to do

Hey girls
Megan - i am yet to post my birth story, have got it all in point form so will do it tonight or tomorrow. but it was really short - 4.5hours and really really intense, but because it was over so quickly it was an amazing experience. I had a water birth but was only in the water for the second stage (which was only 20 mins) as the midwife was delivering someone else as well and she was ahead of me so i was only allowed to get in the bath once she had had her baby. Once the midwife put hendrix on my belly i fell immediately in love but was in some serious shock as just four hours ago we had been at home eating dinner watching the wedding singer!! Anyway will put the full editiion up tomorrow.
I had an awesome day today as we ventured out for the first time into the big wide world (westfield bondi junction)!! I thought of the experience that hendrix would either freak out or be ok and when dh and i arrived we were freaking about the noise, lights etc and i was thinking what have we done?? Anyway we were out for 3.5 hours and he slept the whole time like an angel- im very much in love with my boy!!
I hope everyone else has had a great day
