Hi!
Just a quick one from me as I'm about to go for a walk! (If I don't go now it won't happen - he he)
Linda - we had a bad night too last night. I'm not sure if it's because it was so hot in the house. I ended up getting dh to get up to him at about 4am and he spent an hour with him and he was just crying and miserable. I think we'll got and look into air conditioners tomorrow. It's not even that hot here yet so who knows how we'll go tonight! I'm so hopeless if he looks like he's in pain/distressed as well, that's usually when I get dh to take over. I'm such a sook.
I agree with people in their faces. I understand everyone wants to see a new baby but you can look without being painful!
I think I'll have a cool bath with Louis tonight before bedtime and see how we go. I also just put him to bed in his singlet and nappy and wrapped him in one layer of muslin. I'd love to not wrap him at all but he gets startled so easily.
Melissa - I'm definitely not a water saver at the moment - hehe. We're using disposable nappies and yet I have nearly a load every day of cloth. Louis has got in the habit of pooing just as you take the nappy off nearly every time so we may as well be using cloth!
Kazzy - Louis had jaundice too a little.
-
chantelle has been really unsetteld the last 2 days aswell but we have had a heap of visitors over the weekend.today is cup day in melb and the weather is glorious.we are about to walk down to the pub for lunch and a few bets,we dont bet during the year so we have our fingers crossed for a win.my scar is still nasty and am on antis still and drs every 3 days for new dressings.
i cant beleive tracey had her bubs while it was still oct.gosh we are clever girls to all have had them on our due month
its great that we are all in here together now,i felt a bit lost there for a couple of days.
going now catch you tonight

Hi everyone.
Hooray, we've all had our bubbies!!!!
Only on today to catch up with things. Very tired. Tristan's not settling very well at night time.
Kazzy - I never thought about the jaundice thing. Tristan was slightly jaundice as well, hence being awake a bit more now - he doesn't look so yellow. We keep his bassinette by the window so he gets a bit of light during the day. It's like caring for house plants!!!
Christy - I might try putting him on an incline and see if that helps. Hope it works. No wonder he sleeps better in the rocker.
Better go. Wake up call (again)!!!!!
Hugs.......Bonnie

Hi Girls
Maria is unsettled as well, but during the day. Last night she slept from midnight till 5.30am, she could have slept longer but DH was sure she was awake and hungry thus picked her up :-s [-X Today she just cat naps for maximium of 30 mins at a time and otherwise is wingy or hungry. She is playing a bit more today.
We have put her cot up on bricks at one end as well - it has worked really well. As for sleep depreviation I have been naughty (maybe) and have been attaching Maria to the breast and lying down with her at night, she goes to sleep, I go to sleep and we are all happy. I am gping to go to a sleep and settling course because I don't think I should be doing this
-
maria,i have been doing that also, dont despair as i also did this with my last and it did not cause any probs later with settling or lseeping patterns, have you considered a bottle before bed as a feed as it helps baby to sleep longer as they get more than enough and you also know how much she is having, alot of mums do this as baby sleeps well and loger.i will prob start this when chantelle is about 3 months old.
as for our cup day bets we lost,we spent just over $200 and had makybe diva in every pick but chose the wrong horses for second and third,oh well we had fun doing it
we have another hot day tomorrow and i had to go through all her clothes to find anything that was cool in 0000 size, alas i did find a little romper so she should be cool in that.i cant beleive my other baby will be turning 7 on friday,i swear it goes so damn fast it feels like yesterday i had him, enjoy them while they are young girls because you blink and they are all grown up.the kids went trick or treating last night,a mummy and a witch, they looked great and got lots of lollies and even money!!!!!!!
anyway chickies i wish you all good sleep vibes tonight
love nikki

Hi Everyone,
Yay to us all having our bubbies on Oct - cutting it close.
I had a bet on the cup today for the first time - $100 for Makybe Diva to win - Yay - Mum and I put $50 in each so we can split the winnings. Eden was fussy for one of her feeds this afternoon - refused the breast - had me a bit worried. I put her down and in about half an hour she did the biggest pooh - so she must have just been chockers. I am going to the health clinic tomorrow to have her jaundice checked just to make sure it isn't getting any worse. I don' t think that it is but better just to check. Thanks for the advice about the filtered light - I will have to leave the blinds open a bit more tomorrow. At the moment Eden is sleeping three hourly during the day and 4 to five hourly at night - her last sleep being about 6 hours. I think this is because of the jaundice making her mroe sleepy. She was very alert this afternoon so I was really pleased. We went for our first small shopping outing and she was fab in the car and the pram. I feel really lucky so far - Eden doesn't seem to mind sleeping on her back although after her night feeds, she is so noisy - grunting like she is constipated. She settles herself after a while though. I tried raising her bassinet last night just to see if that helped with the 'flow' of things and she actually used the gravity in her favour to unwrap herself - so little but so strong.
My scar is a little swollen - anyone elses. The Doc isn't sure if it is infected or strained or just bruised so I have to go back to doing nothing for a few days.
Does anyone elses bubby make grunting noises when they are pooing - my son was never so noisy!!!!!!
Lovely cool evening in Geelong now - hot today though, thatnk god for air conditioning.
What is the tally of boys and girls born in Oct???????
Hope that you all have amore settled night tonight and heaps of rest.
Hugs to you all and your bubbas,
Kazzy
-
well it sounds like almost all of us have unsettled bubs at the moment!! at least we dont feel like we are the only ones, it really is good to have this support.
kristie - good idea about the air con!! we have it in our house but it doesnt seem to do anything more than a fan, i think we will have to get it fixed.
nikki - sorry you lost on the cup - hope you had fun anyway!
kazzy - congrats on your win. thats great eden was so well behaved for your shopping trip. it must have felt great. i loved our first shopping outing!
well i am off for a very early night tonight to catch up on some of last nights sleep - lets hope Emma doesnt have other plans for me....
-
We had a great night last night... Dylan actually slept for a few hours at a time! He's been very unsettled this afternoon though - heat I guess. It sounds like it's been hot everywhere today - lots of unsettled bubs!
We nearly put our air-con on, but then the sea breeze kicked in... love it! Tonight we've got heaps of mzzies in the house, so I'll have to put a fly-sheet over the bassinette or he'll get eaten.
Sorry for short post but off to bed while I have the chance!
Hope you all have a restful night...
-
Hi!
Hope you all had a good sleep last night. I wasn't too bad. I got a few couple of hours at a time. I'd be happy with one good long night sleep though!
It's so hot here. Grrr. Went looking at air conditioners but will take about 5-7 days to order it in. It'll probably be raining in Melb again by that time!
I'm so excited we just ordered tickets to see Billy Connelly in Jan - It will probably be our first big outing without bubba! He'll be over 3 months by then so all would be good as long as I leave him with enough milk. I think we'll make a good night of it anyway and have dinner as well!
O.K - off to have some lunch - is that the time already?? How quickly to the days fly by??
-
Something for you to look forward to, .... Maria had her 2 month immunisations today. I though she mightreact worse than she did, but overall she was ok just very clingy and rather sleepy for the first couple of hours after the panadol. Tonight she has slept quite well. We have given her the bottle of EBM, so hopefully she will sleep longer.
-
oh louise - i am not looking forward to the immunisations!!! 8-[ it was so bad watching her have the heel ***** test.
kristie - good on you for planning your big outing without bub. how exciting. my first 'all day' one will be photographing a wedding in january, thats about 8 hours. luckily though i will have plenty to keep my mind from worrying about her. i went out for 2 hours last friday while my mum looked after her. she had a bottle of EBM ready and was asleep when i left, but it was still so hard!!! i rang her after 45 minutes to see if all was ok!! LOL but i think it is good for us to do.
Emma seems to be having a pattern of unsettled time about 8:30 every night. she just wants to be held and gets cranky if you put her down, and she isnt like that any other time. at least it is when i am up anyway so i just deal with it while watching telly!
we had 4 hours, then another 4 hours last night!!! yay! it was great \:D/
-
OMG!!!! i just realised this is my last day in this thread :-$ im not ready to go yet!!! i cant believe a month has gone already.
-
Hi Girls -
I have missed you all!! Xavier has actually been quite settled and feeds at 10.30pm, sleeps until 4.30am then has another feed ao I am only waking up once a night instead of the 15 times a night I would have to get up to go to the toilet! I find with all my babies that for the for 2 weeks or so they lull me into thinking they are great nightime sleepers and then start waking up every hour or two!! So will have to wait and see what Xav does.
Linda I can't believe it has been a month already!! Where does the time go?
Did everyone see Kerrie's birth announcement? We all did it in October!! We did 3 in 3 days, Kerrie 29th, me 30th, Tracey 31st!!
Very busy!
-
Hey girls!!
Feeling much better last couple of days. Tristan's been sleeping alot better last 2 nights. Yay!!! DH looked after him a few nights ago when I was feeling horrible. Thank God for EBM banked up in the freezer. I have to go to the doc about PND. I know it's a daunting subject for this thread, but he said that I'm more susceptible (spelling??) to it because I've already been diagnosed with depression. I had a good nights sleep and everything feels fine atm.
Bekka - Jeez, Xavier's sleeping patterns sound great. Wish Tristan would do the same!!!
Kazzy - Well done on your win. Wish I went to the TAB now. My scar is the same - hurts badly. I feel it's getting better though. Yesterday I went out for walk and paid the bills, by the time I got home, it hurt for ages. When I got up this morning, it felt alot better. I'm not taking the painkillers anymore, so I know what the pain really feels like now. Just rest dear and the pains should eventually go away, we hope!!!.
With the grunting noises, Tristan does it too, and when he's finished he blows rasperries with his lips.
Does anyone remember the Earlybird show that was on years and years ago?? Tristan's lips look like Marty Monster's when he blows rasperries!!!! Hilarious!
Nice cool day in Adelaide today, unlike yesterday - a bit sticky. Not looking forward to Saturday though. 30+ degrees. DH better fix that stupid air-con on Friday. (I had a fight with the air-con last summer and it won. Stupid bloody thing!)
Nikki - How's your scar going??? Hope it's better and you're resting.
Gotta go now. Jerry Springers calling me on Foxtel!!!!
Hugs to everyone and their little bubbas.............Bonnie
-
Bonnie - Just remember to take it easy, if things don't get done then too bad! Your body has been through a lot and you need to take it easy. It is great that you have such a helpful hubby, mine is like that also. A friend of mine her DH started sleeping on the couch when the baby came home because he would get woken up through the night otherwise!! Boo Hoo!! I know is seems Xav is sleeping well no but I think my babies are born very tired and for the first 2 weeks sleep a lot then BAM!! They wake up all the time!! Ah well hopefully he will be different!
Take it easy and spend the day with Springer...LOL
Love Bek

Hi!
Welcome and Congratulations on your little boy Bekka! I think we all did very well to have our babies in October! I'm also jealous of your sleeping boy! I've been having really irregular and unsettled feeds I think due to the warm weather. It was 30degrees in our house at 11.30pm last night - grrrr.
Oh my gosh Linda - Your leaving already! Well I suppose I won't be far behind you!
Bonnie - Take it easy and get plenty of rest! I hope everything stays good for you!
-
bonnie, make sure you get on top of your possible pnd,it is a rotten thing i had it really, really bad with my 2nd child and was not aware of what was wrong with me till he was nearly 1.it absolutly ruined me and i had a very quick recovery once i got onto the meds.i too have to be aware of it this time cos my chances are greater because of the last episode.
bekka, yay congrats to you and dh and the kids.i posted you birth when i got your messgae.tell me about your other children, how old etc.
kristie i cant beleive it is nearly 1 month either,i swear i just got home with her yesterday and she is already 3 weeks.wierd
linda dont fret sweet we are right behind you.
little girl is still sleeping well for me so far also.
nikki
-
Bekka - welcome and congrats again!!! i am sorry to be leaving just as you are arriving #-o maybe Xavier will stay like this with his feeds? fingers crossed!! make the most of it anyway!
Bonnie - good on you for seeing the doc about PND, definately better to get onto it early if it is the case, than struggle on your own.
-
mmmmmm quiet in here today are your bubs keeping you too busy.
chantelle has a boogy nose and is causing quiet a prob as she cant breath through it when she is feeding and often wakes because she cant breath.bugger poor baby

Hi Everyone,
been to the Docs again - my wound developed quite a large haematoma (spl?) and popped last night - I freaked a bit as it was dripping blood. I am now on antibiotics and hopefully the would has drained. Eden is having a 'wakeful' spell at about 2 am thru to 4 am - not in any pain by the looks of it, just doing HEAPS of pooing and a bit difficult to settle. The MCH nurse suggested I bath her at about 10 pm to put her body clock out of sorts for a couple of days and see if this changes her wakeful time. Not that I am complaining - could definitley be worse.
Nikki - Happy Birthday to your son. Sounds like he is going to have an ace time. Lucky boy.
I am off to help put DS to bed - story time. He doesn't want to wear a nappy tonight so we will see how he goes!!!!! Have missed story time on a couple of nights and it is one of my favourite times for us to spend together. Hopefully it has been quiet because people are travelling well.
Watched a story tonight about some sick chn having to be fed thru a tube. I feel so blessed that my children are healthy - no complaining here about sleepless nights!
Looking forward to hearing lots of great stories about heaps of sleep and settled babies.
Hugs to you all
Kazzy

Hi Girls.
Thankyou everone for the well wishes. I'm feeling surprisingly well today apart from the slight pain near the cesarean scar - the pain is slowly going away. Yay. Had a bit of a cry this morning, but I'm ok now.
DH goes back to work on Monday, which will really test me. It's been great that he's been with me since coming home from hospital. Hopefully things will be fine, if not, I can always ring my Mum for help. She'll have to travel from Kangaroo Island and stop work for a week. She says she doesn't mind.
Nikki - Happy bday to your little man. Bet he can't wait till Sunday!!! Have you got a nasal aspirator for Chantelle?? They work but funny to use. They're about $10 from chemist and get the boogies right out. Can't believe our bubs are 3wks old already!!!!
Bekka - Springer was boring! DH hasn't resorted to sleeping on the couch yet but that might change next week when he goes back to work.
Oh Kristy. 30degrees in your house. That's poo. DH didn't fix the aircon today so I'll be expecting the same tomorrow. GRRRR!!
Linda - I knew the symptoms early so that's why I went. I've also got support from my local hospital, which is great.
Dinner time. Yay. Vege quiche and chips with apple crumble for sweets!! Yum.
Love and hugs to all.....................Bonnie.

Hi!
Hope you're all doing well. Just a quick one because I need some sleep and my mum's coming around at 9.30 to drop some stuff off for the dance concert.
I have been a bit teary the last couple of days. Not because of Louis just the lack of time and the pressure of this concert. Also with dh at work he's tired too and doesn't help out as much -grr. Sometimes I feel like just having a big tantrum - hehehe. Luckily Louis gets all of my happy energy! It's just everyone elst who cops the bad me. Sorry for the whinge.
I just gave Louis a bath and he's sound asleep. He always sleeps well after a bath but that could be because of all the crying he does when I'm drying and dressing him. He's actually enjoying the bath part now which is good.
O.K will chat more and catch up tomorrow.
-
Wow - it's super quiet in here - I hope you're all doing well!
I've got kind of a personal question - for those of you who had a natural birth do you feel kind of funny downstairs?? I really don't feel normal at all. A couple of people have said that it takes about 6 weeks to go back to normal but I haven't read anything about it. They just seem to say that you'll bleed for 2-6 weeks and not anything else about it. Any thoughts would be great! Thanks.
Louis has been good. We just had a day out at Yarra Glen Market which was nice! My mum bought him a great clock for christmas - nice and bright for his room! It was so warm but he did really well. Just gave him an extra feed to keep him hydrated.
Am off for a relax after all that walking around!
-
Krisvee - Natural birth here, no tearing etc but definately feel different down there, DP had a look for me about 2 weeks after the birth and said it looked quite swollen. Now though I still feel different, I'm not sure how to explain it though, its just not the same. Is that what you are feeling? I have also noticed that I sometimes smell funny down there, its probably just the bleeding but its yuck all the same.
My bleeding keeps going away for a few days and then I spot for a few but no major bleeding, never was alot of bleeding though.
All is good around here at the moment, my sister and her little one is up from melbourne at the moment so that is fun, not to mention great having an extra set of hands at times with Victoria.
\
Gotta go, time for a feed AGAIN!!
-
Well - finally I've got a few minutes to sit and catch up in here... Dylan doesn't settle easily through the day, but then sleeps really well at night. It's ok as we get to sleep too, but it means it's hard finding time to do stuff around the house.
Kristie - I feel funny "down there" too... I have a few stiches which are itching as they heal, but forwards of there I feel kind of swollen and tender. I'm a bit worried about varicose veins as a physio told me you can get them there through preg and birth. It's an odd sensations and I find myself wriggling a lot to position myself!! I'm still bleeding some, but it's a lot less than it was. If you're concerned go see you doc. If mine is still bothering me by the middle of tis week I'm going to make an appt...
Kazzy - sorry to hear about your wound - hope it's ok now.
Bonnie - that's great that your mum can come if you want her too. I've got my parents coming from Melbourne for a week later this month when DH goes back to work. I'm very spoilt in that DH has 4 weeks off (half-way through now though...)
Nikki - A few months ago when I had a bad cold I bought a vapourisor which the chemist said would be great for a baby to use too. You just put water in it and some eucalyptus oil and it boils away through the night clearing nasal passages. Mine is Vicks one and has a night light too. Hope Chantelle is better now anyway and that your son has a great b'day.
We took Dylan to a party last night - we only planned to stay an hour but he was so good we stayed for ages... he didn't sleep, but lay in his pram looking at everyone, and only grizzled when he was due for a feed.
Better go - lots of washing to catch up on!!
-
OOOH - just saw my new avatar! Cool...
-
hi everyone!!! :D
im just popping back in to tell you my exciting news......
Emma smiled at me yesterday!!!! \:D/ it was so cool!!! i went on about it all day, then i got another 2 smiles last night, and she gave her daddy one too!!!
-
oh linda i cant weait to get our first smile.that must have been a real thrill.
corey had a great bday and was spoilt rotten.chantelles boogies have dried up now,she is much more settled,we have our maternal health app today looking forward to seeing how much she has grown.
my scar is healing nicely now.the infection has gone and the holes are starting to close up,yipee.apart from that all is well but finding it hard to get things done through the day also when she wants to be cuddled all day.so what was the tally of boys to girls and c/sections to natural births.
girl here
c/section.
nikki
-
Hi All!
Nikki - Boy here and a c/s. I think a lot of us ended up with c/s. It's amazing how many doctors push for them now, rather than going for the natural births.
Melissa

Hey everyone!!!
Things have been going good last couple of days apart from the weather. The cool change was supposed to come through early yesterday but it didn't which crapped me off because Tristan didn't sleep all day and he turned into Mr Grumpybum. It's cooler now and he's alseep. Yay.
Donella - DH has gone back to work today and he's given me specific instructions not to do anything because of the cesarean scar. I want house clean for when Mum comes. I suppose she can help me when she gets here. It's good that the parents can come and help and keep you company. My Dad is more excited because he hasn't seen Tristan yet (Mum was with me when I was in labour).
Nikki - Glad your scar is healing well. I was worried for you because of the infection and the holes. Now I'm happy that everythings ok. Mine's just got the numb feeling now. Still a teeny bit tender too.
Bummer, Tristan's just woken up. That didn't last long. Oh well.
Speak soon
Love and Hugs.........................Bonnie

Hi!
Well Louis has been a little terror this morning. He goes down for about 5-10min then starts crying. I've tried everything and anyway he's just about due for another feed now so hopefully he'll go down after that. Although then we've got our maternal app so that sleep will be disrupted too. Grrr. At least I had an easy night with him! I'm so excited to see how much he's grown!
Nikki - for your tally - I had a natural birth and a boy! Glad to hear that your scar is improving!
Linda - I'm so jealous! I can't wait to see a smile. At the moment he gets an amused kind of look on his face but I'm dying for a smile (for the moment I have to be content with wind smiles!) By the way - I'll be joining you in the next forum on Wednesday - how time flies!
Donella - what a good boy at the party!
Cindy - Yeah I feel funny. I feel like everything has moved out of place kind of. I spoke to my Mum and she said she felt funny when she had us. I find it strange that no-one explains this stuff to you. I've got my 6w check up in a fortnight so I'll soon find out if everythings o.k. I tried to make an appointment earlier but there's a 2 week wait on my dr so...
My bleeding is pretty much finished now - yeah! Now I've got no more excuses for dh though - hehe. I'm a bit scared about that...
Speak soon - I want to get a few things done before this terror wakes up again - hehe
-
kristie i too feel a bit scared about doing the do.hopefully our dh will be considerate and gentle first time,i think if we explain our concerns they will be very accomodating to our needs, not that i am in any hurry at all.
had appointment today and chantelle is doing perfectly well.she was born at 2.6 kilos and is now 3.4 so she is growing very nicely.
my bleeding is almost non existant some days and then others i will have a large amount.it does take up to 6 weeks to stop.is any one considering joining a play group or mothers group??????????????????????????????????
i think i would like to get involved in something but was not sure wether to or not.
donella, you live near me dont you????are you in caroline springs, cant remeber if it was you or someone else.that is only 5 mins from me.maybe we could join a group together??????????????????????????????
nikki
-
Hi!
I just got back from our check up and Louis has put on 830g in 2 weeks!!! He is now 4kg. I assume he'll take after dh who's 6f3 (I'm only 5f3) He's also grown another 3.5cm in length! and here I was worried because he was only feeding on one side! Sorry for the ramble I'm just excited!
Nikki - Yep - I'm joining a mothers group. It starts in a couple of weeks. I think it should be really good!
Just had to walk back in the rain - grrr. At least I walked faster - hehe.
-
Nikki - I'm in Adelaide, so a long way from Caroline Springs!! I am looking at parent/play groups though to meet other families in our area as we don't really know anyone here yet. We're also going to do an infantile massage course which is held locally and goes for 4 weeks.
Our poor boy had his circumsision this morning, but I think it was more traumatic for us than him! The nurse took him into another room, and he was back in my arms 4 mins later happy as Larry and looking for a boob!! Is anyone else getting their boys done? We weren't sure about it, but figured it's better now while he won't remember it than to face possible infection later...
Have a student now, better go do some work I guess!

Hi Ladies,
I am finally here.
Jordan is a week old today and this is the 1st time I had gotten on the internet since he was born.
We got home thursday and havbe had so many visitors that I just I just havent had a moment rest really.
I am glad to see that everyone is doing well and bubs are thriving.
Nikki - for your tally I had a boy and a c-section.
Jordan is a good sleeper during the day, wil go 3-4 hrs between feeds, at night however it is every 2 hrs. I dont mind as I am still getting 6-7 hrs sleep as he settles back to sleep quite quickly.
anyways I have to make this short and sweet as bubs due for feed shortly. We hopefully be able to drop in more often soon.
Cuddles to all your bubs.
-
Welcome back Tracey!
According to the list at the start of this forum (and adding Tracey) we have 6 boys and 3 girls... 6 Vaginal births and 3 c-sections (Tracey - you were vag weren't you? Otherwise it's 5-4)
-
Hi Dee73, I was a c-section. It wasnt meant to be that way but thats the way the cookie crumbled. We arent getting Jordan circumsized. I dont see the need for it unless there was a medical reason they needed to. Hubby isnt circumcized so didnt want our boy to be different to his daddy.
Nikki - I am in Caroline springs. We live close to eachother as I beleive you are in taylors hill. I have friends that live in taylors hill.
Hubby has organised our thankyou cards already, gee he is organised and taking to parenthood like a duck to water. I on the other hand struggle at times, but thats all part of the learning process.
I think I will be a little overwhelmed next week when he returns to work. I have a friend in the st who is home with a 10 week old so atleast I will have some support close by which is comforting.
ANyways off to watch neighbours and start feeding little Jordan.
-
Can you please add my details to the list, thanks

Hi!
Tracey - Congratulations on your little boy! How exciting!
If found the first two weeks really overwhelming! It's such a big shock to the system - Nothing can prepare you for it I don't think. I'm only just starting to feel normal again.
We're not getting Louis circumsized either.
Has everyones boobs settled down yet?? Every so often mine get so full of milk and go rock hard and then I soak through my breast pads - hehe. Maybe that's why Louis has put on so much weight - hehe.
