AF for over 2 weeks after starting the pill?!

    Hey there,

Ok.. Jesse is now 3 months old. I have had AF about 3 or so times since he was born as i stopped breast feeding after a week or so.

At the beginning of my last AF i started up on the pill again. About 2 weeks after, i got AF again.. but (ok this maybe TMI now so look away!), AF is a kinda darkish brown and has been here for just over 2 weeks now. Its not heavy, but im probably getting a pad or so full each day. Ive also felt really run down and tired lately too even though im getting 8+ hours sleep at night.

Has anyone else had this? Is this normal or is my body reacting really wierd to starting the pill again? :frown:

To be honest I'd be making an appt with your gp and perhaps trying out a different pill.Is it a mono type pill? There the ones that they say keep us 'levelled' out so we don't get pms!! The mono type pills do have that sort of affect on some people, like my lil sister. She had AF then 2 wks later got AF again. SO she went back onto a triphasal type pill and hasn't had a prob since. I'd stop taking that pill if its affecting your body that way, noone wants AF for that long and that often.

Im not sure what type of pill it is.. but its called Levlen ED.
I have stopped taking it as i also started getting migrains. I still had a fresh strip of the pill i was taking before i was pregnant which hasnt expired (Dianne) so ill take that for the mean time. Will go back to the GP and get another script for that i think, i never had any problems with it before. She just didnt think it was necessary to give me that pill as i dont have a problem with acne.. but it seems the only pill i can take that doesnt give me a migrain.
    Thanks guys

This happened to me once after starting a low dose pill, im not sure what it was called, but it was the newest thing on the market back in 2002. The first dose, I bled for 2 weeks, a normal period and then light bleeding (but having to wear a pad) for the next 2 weeks, apparently it is caused by the dose not being high enough.

I just stopped taking it. It was my first try at the pill and it wasn't a good start.

If you are concerned, maybe your GP can recommend another brand?

Let us know how you go

    Hi there,

Went back to the GP and got another brand. I asked for Dianne as i was on that before Jesse and never had a migrain from it. So will see how we go. AF seems to be slowing down now thankfully as its been 3 weeks! Im so glad i have a very patient DH as we're yet to DTD since the lil man was born

Thanks for your replies.. and Merry Christmas
