    AF? Will you ever return?

DD has just turned one and is still BF. She currently has 2-3 feeds per day.

I had expected AF to have come back by now, and while I know that it can take a while to return, I am still getting a little concerned by this! It seems really strange to WANT AF, but I do! It has been soooo long and seems strange to go so long with a single AF!

I am also starting to get concerned about when we TTC #2. I don't want to start TTC for another 6 months or so and I don't want to wean DD yet (as she just LOVES the boobie!) but I am worried about how long it may take to conceive #2.

As you can see in my sig, we had 2 m/cs before DD which were awful to go through. I used to think that it would be easier next time now that we have DD, but now I am not so sure. Ever since going off the pill to start TTC #1, I had a really irregular cycle (but never did BEFORE going on the pill, hence my reasons for never wanting to go on it again!). Due to the m/cs and irreg cycle, a specialist put me on clomid and I conceived DD on the first cycle. I am terrified of going through the process of all the tests etc and seeing the specialist, and of going through m/c again. I want AF to come back soon so that I have a chance to hopefully get back into a regular cycle again before TTC #2. I don't want to end up seeing a fert specialist or going on clomid again.

I know it seems silly to be concerned about this already when I am not even ready to TTC #2 yet, but I am already concerned!

Does anybody have any advice/reassurance for me??

My AF came back when Jovie was 18 months, she just weaned off one feed a day and a week later AF arrived! Sometimes some of us go through that. I was relieved... but it doesn't mean you aren't fertile during this period either, you can buy OPK's to tell you when you are ovulating to get some idea on your cycle.

I got my AF back when DS was 10 months (still BF) but it was very wonky - I would ovulate around cd25-27, then get AF 5-7 days later - not enough of a luteal phase for implantation.

As we were TTC, I started taking Vitex (chaste tree berry). It is supposed to help balance hormones, especially the prolactin (BF hormone) and progesterone levels. The first month taking it I ovulated on cd17 and had a LP of 10 days, the next month I ovulated on cd17 again and got a BFP so obviously the LP was long enough for implantation.

From what I have read, it can help bring back AF as well. It is safe to take while breastfeeding, however it can cause a decrease in supply. This did happen to me but DS just started feeding more often to rebuild the supply and then it was fine.

Hope AF returns soon for you.

My AF came back about a week after I stopped breastfeeding. She was having 1 feed a day and was a little over 11 months old.
