I actually didn't notice mine, but I had a c-section and I was taking pain meds. Actually I do recall a bit when I was breastfeeding but it was no worse than with my first. I really noticed it more with the first baby but I've also heard teh second is supposed to worse.
Yes, with my second they were quite painful but not too bad, I also had a C-Section so I think the morphine helped! With number 3 the after birth pains were REALLY bad, almost as bad as my contractions and they lasted about 4/5 days.
But after number 2 they weren't too bad so don't worry about it! Just looking at your new baby makes it all worth while!
They get worse with every pregnancy apparently. The hospital will offer you panadol if you need it. They will hurt when you bf as this helps to contract your uterus. With my 2nd they were a breeze compared to labour. You'll be fine
Just moving to 'your body after baby & post-natal issues'
I expected them to be quite bad after my second but I ended up having a c-section and the painkillers for that did a pretty good job of masking the after pains.
Yeah, they hurt after Marieke was born, but some Tylenol (panadol?) or ibuprofen took care of it. Don't be afraid of them.
If I can borrow the thread a little bit - does anyone know what is safe to take for pain relief after birth, when breastfeeding?
My Mum was rushed back to hospital with after pains (after having me her easiest & 2nd baby) as she was in so much pain...
I expectyed them after 3!, got not a thing, then with #2, whom I breasfed, I didnt get anything again, although there was a 7yr gap, so i am hoping they arent too bad with #3.
