hun, you don't think you could have an infection do you? I'm not sure what else it could be.
Hi all,
In the last few days my belly has started to get a burning feeling - not near my scar but a little bit higher. It hurts like hell, and panadeine forte doesn't take it away.
I remember feeling this with my first c-section, but having it in hospital and it stopped after a week.
This has now started up. I didn't have it in hospital, and I'm wondering if its normal??? I had a continuous stitch put in this time - staples last time. Does that make a difference in the healing process?
I mean its really annoying me, and hurts to the point where I grab my belly and swear at the same time. It sorta comes and goes with intensity too - and its just on one side - my left side.
Anyone else experienced this?

I have no idea? What woulld signs of infection be? My discharge is what I would expect it to be... and my scar or belly aren't red....
Hmmm...now you have me worried!!! DH wants me to go to the doc tomorrow....![]()
It could be completely normal - when the nerves re-knit the sensation is like burning or stinging. Hurts like nothing else.
I experienced it irregularly up until about 4 months after the surgery (and even now get mild twinging from time to time), and was told that it is possible to experience it for up to a year. I experienced it at different points along the general area of the scar (including slightly above or below). It generally starts and stops quite rapidly. Does it come and go, or is it a sustained or worsening pain?
I would definitely be getting checked ASAP to preclude infection. I had a mild external infection which happened about 10 days after I gave birth and when I contacted the hospital was told to see a doctor immediately.
Hope you're feeling better soon hon.
yeh I had this too.. It is the nerves and everything re connecting or whatever they do..
on the safe side though have a quick check of your scar and see if there is any unusual redness.
It prob wouldn't hurt to see a Dr either just in case.. but it does sound normal to me..
Suse - seriously?!? A YEAR?? ****... what were your symptoms of an external infection? The pain comes and goes, and is worse if I cough or sneeze, or if I get off the couch.... you know.. the usual MOVEMENTS..
Nic - I had the clinic nurse check the scar when I saw her yesterday with Mehkelti, and she said that the scar looked really good for being 2 weeks old... but apparently I do heal well!!!
And DH checked it just before and there was no redness or anything near the scar and the actual pain is about two inches ABOVE the actual scar, so I'm guessing its just the nerves reattaching themselves.
I told my physio about it today (cos I have pelvic separation) and she agreed with me that I might have been so distracted by the pain in my pelvis/back/legs after the operation that I didn't notice any tummy pain until now - when my pelvis is getting better!! LOL
Thanks guys.. I might just give it a few more days and see how I go.
Mel honey - I had external infection with Julia's c/section, it went red up to my belly button and was really hard and sore when I bent over. I took Keflex to get rid of the infection. You may have internal infection, best to talk to your OB ASAP honey. Big hugs
An internal infection? geezzz...
Mel.. i havent had a c/s but had exactly what you are describing last night. Was just a full on pain all over my belly making me stop what i was doing (was trying to eat dinner at the time).. put me off my food and kinda gave me a little head sweat. DH suggested it may just be my uterus contracting/shrinking. Havent had it since last night though.
I got tested the other week as you know for an infection. Came back negative. Have you had any bright red bleeding? or clotting? Was also suggested to me if i had those then to go to the hospital straight away as it may be an infection. If you havent, then perhaps its just a similar thing im getting.. and hopefully for us both is just our uterus's shrinking.
That's what I thought too Mel - ****!!! It does get heaps better though - I rarely get a twinge now and they do become less full-on as well as less often. My infection just showed as redness and slight swelling/hardening of an area of the scar about 2cm in length. It wasn't painful, although after a while it started to itch a bit. It healed up pretty quickly on antibiotics.
Oh boy do I remember the pain of moving though.to you honey!
The infected area would be hot too, righ? If it were an infection. Do you have a fever??
But, yes, get it checked out ... just to be on the safe side.
Get checked to be safe lovely - I hope it goes away quickly for you.![]()
Oh Mel, I'm sorry hun, I didn't mean to worry you - like the others said it could be nothing that's not normal. But that was just my first thought.
Ok well here is the update. I got worse overnight - fever, chills, muscle pain, case of the poos this morning and just felt like crap.
Went to docs this morning, could have absess in my uterus, which could burst and sendf me into septic shock. Lovely. Also have something on my spine which could be doing it.
So far this morning I have had lots of blood taken out, samples and blood cultures, had two lots of very strong antibiotics, and am booked in for ct scan and ultrasound this morning.
Poor DH has to take the day off to take me places....
Ahhh its all fun and games. So if I don't update, its probably cos I'm in the hospital being operated on.
Wish me luck!!!
awww damn well thats not the best news in the world. good luck darl!!!! xoxo
Oh ***** hun! I hope everything turns out ok! sms me ok!!!! Will be thinking of you!![]()
