    Complex dermoid cyst

    Hi all,

During my pregnancy it was discovered that i have a cyst on my left ovary, it was monitored during the pregnancy at each ultrasound i had and was told that once i had bubby to go back and have it checked to see if it had gone.....well on Tuesday i went for the follow up ultrasound which ended up having to be an internal ultrasound as they were hoping to get a better view of it but unfortunately they couldnt so now i'm being sent off for a CT scan and the Dr has told me that i will need surgery to remove it. Which is freaking me out a little I gave birth to my little boy only 2 weeks ago and the thought of having to go to surgery now is really upsetting me, i realise that i have to look after myself too so i am able to look after the kids but im scared, im upset and i dont want to leave my baby especially being so young.

Has anyone had a complex dermoid cyst and had to have it removed and if so how was it removed (keyhole) ? Was the recovery quick ? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Aw contemplating surgery at any time is a bit scary let alone when you have a small bub. I found it helpful to carry a small notebook and jot down all my questions so I didn't forget anything when I saw the dr. Sorry I can't help you with info but just wanted to offer my support. If you're BFing you might need to check this out with the people doing the CT scan if you need to pump & dump as it involves a radioactive dye, phone ahead and find out what you need to do so you are prepared. Likewise ask for plenty of info about your surgery to assist you in planning/managing.
